Weekend Tournaments: Elko/New Market, Morris, Dundas, and New Prague [SCORES]

Elko/New Market, Morris, Dundas, and New Prague are set to host their annual tournaments June 5-7.

3rd Annual Budweiser Classic

Elko and New Market host the 3rd Annual Budweiser Classic tournament this weekend. Other participants include Class A Minneapolis Cobras and Bloomington Bandits, Class B Prior Lake Jays, Coon Rapids Redbirds, Shakopee Indians, and Class C St. Patrick Irish.

Host Elko will look to compete for the title. The Express are ranked No. 4 in Class B with a record of 11-1. Coon Rapids won the tournament in 2014.

Mike Johnson Memorial 

The Morris Eagles host the Mike Johnson Memorial Tournament June 5-7.

The tournament is host to several competitive teams from around the state. The participants include the No. 8 ranked Class C Fergus Falls Hurricanes, Moorhead Bulldogs, Class A Minneapolis Angels, Bird Island Bullfrogs, Dumont Saints, No. 4 ranked Class C Nisswa Lightning, and the team to beat: the No. 3 ranked Class B Victoria Vic’s.

The 2012 State Champion Vic’s are off to a 5-0 start, scoring 10-plus runs in each of their games. Victoria relies on strong hitting from Erik Winegarden and Chris Volkmann to drive in leadoff hitter Cole Sweeney. Sweeney is the team leader in at bats and runs scored.

37th Annual Dundas Invitational 

The Dundas Dukes are hosting the 37th Annual Dundas Invitational Tournament June 5-7. The teams include Highland Park, Minnetonka, Stockmen’s Irish, Rochester Royals, and St. Louis Park.

Dundas and Minnetonka both come into the tournament with excellent starts to their seasons. Minnetonka is undefeated at 10-0 and Dundas is 10-1, and ranked No. 5 in Class B.
