Minutes: May 9 State Board meeting

Eastside VFW, St. Cloud, MN

Meeting called to order by President Richter at 11:00 AM

There were 4 dedicated people in attendance

Roll call showed all Board members present with the exception of Nagel and Zellmann

Motion Brennan, second Forsman, carried to approve the minutes of the April meeting

No representatives from Cold Spring/Watkins were present to give any update on 2015 State Tournament

Motion Barry, second Roufs, carried to reinstate Tyson Schuder to return to play in the MBA

Motion Barry, second Brennan, carried to approve payment of the Old Republic Surety Bond $100

Motion Roufs, second Kreger, carried to allow Garrett Anderson to return to play for Blue Earth under the Heritage Rule

Motion Forsman, second Barry, carrie to allow Dylan McCalip to play with Chokio under the Heritage Rule

Motion Kreger, second Forsman, carried to approve the following tournament sanctions:

St. Martin/Lake Henry 5/29-5/31, Stockmen’s Irish 6/25-6/28, Rum River Bandits 6/26-6/28, Arlington/Gaylord 6/19-6/21 and New Prague Orioles 6/5-6/7

Motion Brennan, second Forsman, carried to approve the following teams to play non-MBA teams:

-Dumont Saints to play Fargo Mets

-Essig to play the Searles Bulldogs (Over 35 team) on 5/3

-Hampton to play Bay City, WI 6/27

-Rochester Royals to play Eau Claire, WI 5/31, Spooner, WI 6/21, and Sparta, WI 7/31

-Stillwater Loggers to play Osceola, WI and New Richmond, WI

-Stewartville-Racine to play the Owatonna Crawdads

-Detroit Lakes to play in the Jamestown, ND tournament July 11-12

-Roscoe to play Cold Spring Silver Springers on 5/31

-Hinckley to play Duluth Dukes 5/9

It is duly noted that the following players notified the MBA Board regarding playing with an out of state team or Northwoods League and return to play with their respective MBA team:

-Shad Wacker, Jackson Bulls to play in a JUCO Summer League in Lakeland, Florida for the month of June and return to play for Jackson

-Eddie Estrada, Litchfield Blues to play for the Willmar Stingers and return to play with Litchfield

-Brody Rodning, Gaylord to play for Eau Claire and return to play with Gaylord

-Ed Reichenbach, Gaylord to play in the Kansas Collegiate League and return to play with Gaylord

-Ryan Tapani, Loretto to play with the Duluth Huskies and return to play with Loretto

-George Faue, Loretto to play with the North Carolina All-America Collegiate League and return to play with Loretto

-Dave Marchese to play for his home town team in Wisconsin, as well as, the Marshall A’s

-Jason Beilke to play with the Thompson, ND team, as well as, the Moorhead Brewers

-Tyler Field, St. Michael to play with team in South Dakota, as well as, St. Michael

-Austin Kretsch, Milroy Yankees to play with the Aurora A’s, SD team, as well as, Milroy

NEW BUSINESS

It is duly noted that Marcus Zahn requested to have the Meridian Bat be the official bat of the MBA.  The MBA Board’s position is that it does not endorse any bat company at this time.

It was also noted that the Cannon Valley League consisting of Burnsville, Eagan and Savage have not registered their League nor have they paid their 2015 MBA dues of $80.  It was also noted that the Southern Minny League has not registered nor have they paid their 2015 MBA dues of $90.  Their league consists of Austin Greyhounds, Austin Blue Sox, Rochester Royals and the Rochester Red Legs.  These Leagues and teams have until Friday, May 22, 2015 to get registered and pay their dues or they will not be eligible for post season play.

With no further business, motion Kreger, second Brennan, carried to adjourn at 11:55 AM

Next MBA Board meeting is scheduled for Saturday, June 13th at the Eastside VFW in St. Cloud at 11:00 AM
