Green Isle City Council Chambers – Green Isle

Meeting called to order by President Richter at 10:55 AM

There were 5 dedicated people in attendance

Roll call showed that all Board Members were present.

Motion Brennan, second Nagel, carried to approve the minutes from the previous meeting.

Al Flor and Bob Skillings from New Ulm and Steve Helget from Springfield gave an update and status report on 2020 State Tournament.  They stated that the majority of the work regarding infrastructure and projects around all the ballparks are almost all complete.  They also indicated that the playing surfaces are in excellent condition and are State Tournament ready as we speak!  They also stated some concerns relative to some of the financial components regarding selling ads for the program, as well as, other support from sponsors, etc are all up in the air with COVID-19.  They indicated, however, that they will be ready if and when we are able to play baseball in Minnesota.

Motion Nagel, second Kreger, carried to allow Brad Morris, to play with St. Peter.

Motion Forsman, second Lemke, carried to allow Casey VanKrevlen, to play with Anoka utilizing the Hometown Rule.

Motion Forsman, second Lemke, carried to allow Jaron Christenson to play with Montgomery utilizing the Hometown Rule.

Motion Nagel, second Schleper, carried to allow the Champlin Logators to play an Alumni game on 7/26. 

Motion Nagel, second Schleper, carried to allow the following tournament sanctions:

-Nimrod Gnats tournament 6/26 – 6/28.

-Stockmen’s Irish tournament 6/26 – 6/27

-Chanhassen Redbirds tournament 7/10 – 7/11

There was further discussion regarding the state of amateur baseball in Minnesota relative to COVID-19.  The Board has stated that there will be no amateur baseball played until the Governor gives the approval to play.  Currently he has pushed the date out to May 18th.  No teams are to play any scrimmages or exhibition games until further notice. The MBA Board has checked with our Legal Counsel and they have stated that we, as an association, must adhere to the guidelines as stated by Governor Walz.  Thank you for your cooperation!

The MBA Board of Directors has sent a letter to the Governor stating our extreme desire to play baseball this summer.  


Motion Schleper, second Lemke, carried to accept DaVinci Software’s proposal/contract for website and webmaster services at a cost of $12,000 per year starting in 2020 with a 4%  inflation adjustment annually for a ten year period.


The Board accepted John Richter’s resignation from the Board effective May 2, 2020

The Board accepted Dave Hartmann’s resignation from the Board effective May 7, 2020

With no further business, Motion Lemke, second Kreger, carried to adjourn at 12:50 PM

Next scheduled MBA Board meeting will be Saturday, June 20, 2020 at 10:00 AM and will take place at the Green Isle City Council Chambers.
