May 11, 2019 Meeting Minutes

Saturday, May 11, 2019

Meeting called to order by President Richter at 11:00 AM 

There were 3 dedicated baseball enthusiasts in attendance 

Roll call showed that all Board Members were all preseny 

Motion Brennan, second Lemke carried to approve the minutes of the previous meeting 

It was duly noted that the Old Republic Surety Bond bill was paid 

Motion Kreger, second Nagel carried to approve the Land O’Ducks league request for a 5 mile extension for all teams in their league 

Motion Nagel, second Brennan carried to approve Joe Gonrowski’s request to play with Hibbing pending Eastern Minnesota North League approval. 

Motion Roufs, second Schleper carried to approve Jacob Booden to play with Carver 

Motion Forsman, second Lemke carried to approve Steve Edlefson to play with Chaska 

Motion Kreger, second Lemke carried to approve Bo Hellquist to play with Burnsville 

Motion Roufs, second Forsman carried to approve Jared Dettmann to play with Bird Island

Motion Forsman, second Kreger carried to approve Blake Schwartz to play with the Milroy Yankees 

It is duly noted that the following players will play in collegiate wood bat leagues and return to play with their respective team:

Avery Stevens, Essig, to play with Hub City Hot Shots, SD

Adam Johnson, Nimrod to play with Fort Dodge, IA

Sam Baier, Springfield to play with the Willmar Stingers

Logan Nissen, Bird Island to play with the Rochester Honkers

Teddy Peterson, Glencoe to play with the Willmar Stingers

Ryan McDonald, Prior Lake Jays to play with Holly Springs

Nate Dechaine, Nisswa Lightning to coach in the Northwoods League in Albert Lea and return to play with Nisswa in the post season with the 4 game requirement waived.

Motion Schleper, second Brennan carried to allow the following teams to play non MBA teams:

Anoka Bucs to play River Falls, WI 5/11 and New Richmond, WI 6/8

Madison Mallards play Castlewood Monarchs, SD 5/22 & 5/29

Luverne Redbirds to play Renner, SD 6/6 and Garrettson, SD 6/21

Dilworth Raildogs to play Cass County, ND 7/7

Hibbing to play Twin Ports North Stars 6/21

Hastings Hawks to play Ellsworth 5/3, Spring Valley 5/5, River Falls 6/5, Bay City 7/10 and Prescott 7/19

Blaine Fuison to play Elmwood and New Richmond, WI both home and away

Winona to play Whitehall 5/17, La Crescent 5/24 & 6/8, and Sparta 5/25 & 6/9

Stillwater to play Osceola, WI 6/19

Rosen to play Clear Lake, SD 5/24 

Motion Kreger, second Schleper carried to allow Pearl Lake to play an alumni game 6/15 

It is duly noted that Brock Rude will play with Winona and Chaseburg-Coon Valley WI 

Motion Lemke, second Schleper carried to approve the following tournament sanctions:

Stockman’s Irish tournament 6/27-6/30

Arlington & Gaylord tournament 6/14-6/16 and allow non MBA team TCMBA Black Sox, Osceola, WI and Eau Claire, WI to play in said tournament

Elko tournament 5/31-6/1 and 6/2 

Motion Nagel, second Kreger, carried to allow Zach Thompson to play with Marshall A’s utilizing the hometown rule 

It was duly noted that Tim Martin, Brainerd Bees, requested to change the coaches helmet rule.  At this time the Board has opted to maintain the rule as it currently exists which requires anyone coaching either 1st or 3rd base to wear a helmet when coaching. 

OLD BUSINESS 

NEW BUSINESS  Vice President Roufs brought up the fact that a high school all-star team has been put together as the Seattle Mariners Midwest Scout Team.  This team will be playing approximately 8 MBA teams this summer as a tuneup for playing numerous out of state tournaments.

Next meeting is scheduled for Saturday, June 8, 2019 at the New Ulm Country Club, New Ulm at 11:00 AM
