LOCAL BASEBALL ROUNDUP

Back for a third season at http://knsiradio.com/sports/high-school-msc/about-msc/ with your weekly amateur baseball (Town Team) baseball reports. The plan is to continue to include: Lakewood League, Central Valley League, Sauk Valley League, Victory League South, Eastern Minney West and Stearns County South teams this season and the upcoming schedule for each league including tournament and exhibition games. In addition the league standings thru out the season.  Check out the Minnesota Amateur Baseball Web site for additional information.

KIMBALL EXPRESS 7  ST. AUGUSTA GUSSIES 6  (11 innings) (5/29/16 @ Kimball)

The Express defeated their CVL rivals the Gussies, with a 16 hits attack and a trio of pitchers. Joey VonWahlde started on the mound, he went 5 2/3 innings, he gave up 10 hits, 6 runs, 2 walks and he struck out two. Matt Dingmann threw 2 2/3 innings of relief,  gave up 2 hits and he walked one . Zach Kuefler earned the win with 2 1/3 innings of relief, he gave up 1 hit, 2 walks and he struck out three. Austin Ruehle had a great day at the plate, he went 4-5 with 2 RBI’s and a sacrifice fly. Brooks Marquardt had a good day, he went 3-5 with a walk, a stolen base and he scored 3 runs and Brian Marquardt went 2-4 with 2 walks and he scored a run. Ben Johnson had a great day, he went 2-4 with a RBI, he walked, had a stolen base, hit by a pitch and he scored a run. Ben also had a couple of great defensive plays at third base. Troy Filzen went 2-6 and he scored a run, Adam Beyer went 1-6 and Zach Kuefler went 1-5 with a RBI, he walked and scored a run. Getting the biggest hit of the day was Scott Marquardt as he got a walk off single to drive in his brother Brooks for the winning run. Scott had a sacrifice bunt early in the game. This puts the Express at 7-0 in the Central Valley North.

The Gussies starting pitcher, Travis Laudenbach threw 5 innings, he gave up 8 hits, walked 3 and he surrendered 5 runs, he struck out one. Aaron Fruth threw 5 1/3 innings of relief, he took the loss,  he gave up 8 hits, 2 runs, 1 walk and he struck out two. The Gussies pounded out 13 hits, led by Marcus Lommel he went 3-4 with a triple, 1 RBI, 1 walk and he scored 2 runs. Nate Laudenbach had a great day, he went 2-5 with a home run and a double for 3 RBI’s. Adam Gwost had a good day as he went 2-5 with 2 doubles and Dusty Schulzetenburg went 1-3 with a sacrifice fly, walk and he scored a run. Dan Swan went 1-4 with a walk, Matt Skaja went 1-3 with 2 walks and Aaron Fruth went 1-5.

WATKINS CLIPPERS 11 ST. NICHOLAS NICKS 0  (7 innings)  5/29/16 @ St. Nick)

The Clippers topped their CVL rivals the Nicks, behind the pitching performances by a couple of lefties. Matt Geislinger started and he threw 5 innings to earn the win, he walked 2, no hits and he recorded 10 strikeouts. T. J. Frericks threw 2 innings of relief, he gave up 1 hit, walked 2 and he record 2 strikeouts. Matt Geislinger had a big day at the plate, he went 2-3 with a double for 4 big RBI’s, he walked and he scored a run. Rob Doboszinski had a good day, he went 2-3 with a RBI and a walk and Logan Linn went 2-5 with a RBI. Kevin Kramer went 1-3 with a walk, he scored 3 runs and he had a stolen base and Dan Berg went 1-2 with 2 RBI’s, 2 walks, 3 runs scored and he had a stolen base. Adam Hiltner went 1-2 with 3 walks, Gary Peters had a walk, sacrifice, he score 2 runs and he had a stolen base and Heath Kramer earned two walks.

The Nicks starting pitcher Derek Kuechle was the pitcher of record, he threw 5 innings and Brett Hofer threw 2 innings of relief. Jon Hofer went 1-2 with a walk, Robert Lutgen and Derek Kuechle both earned walks.

COLD SPRING ROCKIES  11  EDEN VALLEY HAWKS 1 (7 Innings) (5/29/16 @ Cold Springer)

FOLEY LUMBERJACKS 9 LITCHFIELD BLUES 5 (5/29/16 @ Litchfield)

The Lumberjacks remain unbeaten in the Sauk Valley with their win over rivals the Blues. Behind a 16 hits attack led by Sam Keeler went 3-5 with a double and he scored a run and Cameron Jurek went 2-5. Noah Winkelman went 2-5 and Tyler Midas went 2-5 and he scored 2 runs. Mike Plante went 2-4, Hunter Hammers went 2-4 and Joe Zweicki went 2-6. Mitch Keeler went 1-5 with a double for a RBI and he scored a run. Cameron Jurek was their starting pitcher and the pitcher of record, he threw 7 innings, he scattered 11 hits 3 walks, he surrendered 4 runs and he recorded 10 strikeouts. Hunter Hammers threw 1 inning of relief, he gave up a hit and he had one strikeout. Veteran Mike Beier threw the final inning, he gave up 1 hit and one run.

The Blues pounded out 12 hits, led by Toby Chellin, he went 3-5 with a double and 3 RBI’s. Josh Johnson went 3-5 with a double and Carson deal went 2-4 with a double. David Pennertz went 2-2, Kal Vollinkaty went 1-4 and Zach Johnson went 1-5. Kaleb Kalbrenner started, he went 6 2/3 innings to take the loss and Dylan Koll threw 3 1/3 innings of relief.

The Flames topped Stearns County rivals the Saints, behind the pitching performances by Brad and Brent Mergen. Brad threw 8 innings, he scattered 4 hits, 5 runs, 4 that were earned, 5 walks and he recorded 7 strikeouts. Brent threw one inning of relief; he gave up 1 hit, 1 walk and he recorded 2 strikeouts. Joel Klein had a great game, he went 2-4 with 2 RBI’s, 2 runs scored and he had 3 stolen bases. Brad Mergen went 2-4 with a RBI and he was hit by a pitch twice. Aaron Eiynch went 2-4 with a RBI, sacrifice fly and he had a stolen base and Mitchell Thelen went 1-4 with a RBI, 1 walk and he scored a run. Craig Klein went 1-4 with walk, 1 stolen base and he scored a run and Chris Wehseler went 1-4 with a walk and he scored twice. Aaron Nett had 3 RBI’s, he walked, had a stolen base and he scored 2 runs and Cody Fourre had a sacrifice bunt, he walked and one RBI.

The Saints pitcher of record was their starter, Austin Imdieke, he threw 5 1/3 innings, he gave up 6 hits, 7 runs, 3 walks and he recorded 6 strikeouts. Brady Weller threw 3 2/3 innings of relief, he gave up 3 hits, 2 runs,  4 walks and he recorded 4 strikeouts. Austin Hadley went 1-5 with a double for 1 RBI and he scored a run and Matt Schmitz went 1-3 with a double and 2 RBI’s, he walked and scored a run. Matt Middendorf went 1-2 with a stolen base, scored 2 runs and he was hit twice by the pitch and Cody Eichers walked twice and he scored a run.

FARMING FLAMES 4 GREENWALD CUBS 3  (5/29/16 @ Farming)

The Flames won their second league game of the weekend, they topped the Cubs behind the pitching efforts by Kyle Zierden and Brent Mergen. Kyle started, he threw 7 innings, scattered 5 hits, 3 runs, 3 walks and he stuck out 2. Brent earned the save with 2 innings of relief, he gave up 1 hit, 2 walks and he struck out 2. The Flames put 3 runs on the board in the 1st inning and added a run in the 5th. They were led by Chris Wehseler, he went 3-4 with a home run and a double for 2 big RBI’s. Nick Megen had a good day, he went 2-4 with a double for a RBI and he scored a run. Brad Mergen went 1-4 with a RBI and he scored a run, Joel Klein went 1-3 and he scored a run and Kyle Zierden wetn 1-3.

For the Cubs, Nic Rademacher started on the mound, he threw 8 innings, he was the pitcher of record. Five Cubs had base hits, Mitch Worms went 1-5 with a RBI and he scored a run and Nick Rademacher went 1-5 with a RBI. Tyler Engelmeyer went 1-5 and he scored a run and Ryan Kraemer went 1-4 with one walk. Kegan Stueve went 1-3 and he walked and Tyler Thomas went 1-2 and he walked.

ST. MARTIN MARTINS 6 NEW MUNICH SILVERSTREAKS 1 (5/28/16 @ New Munich)

The Martins topped their Stearns County rivals the Silverstreaks behind the solid pitching effort by Ben Schroeder. He started and threw all 9 innings, he scattered 5 hits, walked 4, surrendered 1 run and he recorded 8 strikeouts. Scott Schlangen had a great day at the plate, he went 2-4 with 2 doubles for a RBI, he walked and scored a run. Bryan Schlangen had a good game, he went 2-4 with 2 doubles for a RBI, he scored a run and he was hit by a pitch. Kyle Leiser went 2-3 with a RBI, walked twice, he had a sacrifice bunt and he scored a run. Taylor Holthaus went 1-4 with a RBI and he walked and Matt Schlangen went 1-3 with a walk and he scored a run, Michael Schlangen went 1-5 and he scored a run and Jaylyn Arceneau had a sacrifice bunt.

For the Silverstreaks, their pitcher of record was Ty Reller, he threw 8 innings, scattered 7 hits, walked 2, surrendered 3 runs and he recorded an impressive 14 strikeouts. They collected just 4 hits, Hunter Rademacher went 2-4, Jon Gaebel went 1-3 and Ty Reller went 1-3.

RICHMOND ROYALS 10 MEIRE GROVE GROVERS 9 (10 Innings) 5/28/16 @ Meire Grove)

The Royals had to rally from a 9-1 deficit in the top of the 8th inning to defeat the Grovers in extra innings. They pounded the ball for 16 hits, led by Adam Backes, he went 3-6 with 3 big RBI’s and Kyle Budde went 3-5 with a double, 1 RBI and he scored a run. Brent Ruegemer had a big day, he went 3-6 with a RBI and he scored 2 runs and Scott Ruegemer went 2-5 with a walk and he scored a run. Cole Schmitz went 2-6 and Dan Hanson went 1-5 with a double for a RBI. Dusty Adams went 1-5 with a double for a RBI, he walked and scored a run and Tim Hanson went 1-4 with a double, walked twice and he scored a run. Andy Bauer was the starter on the mound for the Royals, he threw 6 innings, he gave up 6 hits, 7 runs, walked 2 and he recorded 6 strikeouts. D. J. Schleicher earned the win, with 4 innings of relief, he gave up 4 hits, 2 walks, 2 runs and he recorded 2 strikeouts.

For the Grovers Jacob Imdieke started on the mound, he went 7 innings, Ben Klaphake threw one inning of relief and Jaron Klaphake threw the final two innings, he was the pitcher of record.  Trevor Sawyer went 2-5 with a RBI, Colton Meyer went 1-3 with 2 RBI’s and Anthony Welle went 2-5.

RICHMOND ROYALS 8 ELROSA SAINTS (5/29/16 @ Richmond)

The Royals topped the Victory League rivals the Saints with a 14 hit attack. Scott Ruegemer had the big blow, he had a pinch hit grand slam in the 5th inning. Brent Reugemer went 3-4, Cory Niewind went 3-4, Dan Hanson went 2-4 with 3 RBI’s and Adam Backes had two hits.  Alex Budde was the pitcher of record for the Royals.

SPRING HILL CHARGERS 17 LAKE HENRY LAKERS 11 (5/28/16 @ Spring Hill)

The Lakers took a commanding lead into the 4th inning, they were up 11-2 and they couldn’t hold the Chargers on this raining, soggy day. For the Chargers, Austin Schoenberg was the starting pitcher and Josh Olmscheid earned the win with 4 2/3 innings of relief. Eric Schoenberg had a big day, he went 3-3 with a home run and a double for 5 RBI’s and he had a stolen base. Shawn Schoenberg went 2-5 with a home run and 4 RBI’s, 2 stolen bases and he scored 3 runs. Austin Schoenberg went 2-4 with a home run, 3 RBI’s and he scored 3 runs. Kyle Bertram had a good day, going 2-5 with 2 RBI’s.

The Lakers were led by Ryan Wuertz on offense, he went 2-4 with a double and 3 RBI’s and he scored a run. Tim Hopfer went 1-2 with 2 RBI’s and he walked twice and Shane Kampsen went 1-2 with a double for a RBI, 4 walks and he scored 3 runs. Jason Kampsen went 1-2 with 2 RBI’s, 1 walk and he scored a run, Weston Brinkman walked 3 times and he had 2 stolen bases and Josh Kampsen had a RBI, 2 walks and he scored a run. Mitchell Weidner started on the mound, he went 3 2/3 innings. Tim Hopfer threw 3 1/3 innings of relief, he was the pitcher of record, Sam Hopfer threw 1 inning and Matt Quade threw the final inning.

SPRING HILL CHARGERS 8 ROSCOE RANGERS 2 (5/29/16 @ Roscoe)

The Chargers topped the Rangers behind the pitcher performances of Jordan Welle and Shawn Schoenberg. Jordan started, he threw 6 innings to earn the win, he scattered 5 hits, gave up 2 runs, walked 4 and he recorded 6 strikeouts. Shawn earned the save with 3 innings of relief, he gave up 1 hit and he recorded 2 strikeouts. Louie Opatz had a big day, he went 3-5 with a double for 2 RBI’s and he scored a run. Shawn Schoenberg had a big day, he went 2-4 with a home run and a double for 2 RBI’s. Nathan Terres went 1-4 with 2 RBI’s and he had a sacrifice fly, Eric Terres went 1-4, he walked and he scored a run and Jamie Terres went 1-3, he walked and he had a stolen base. Chris Spanier went 1-4 and he scored 2 runs and Kyle Bertram went 1-4 with a sacrifice bunt. Eric Schoenberg had a sacrifice bunt and he walked and Brandon Welle had a sacrifice bunt.

The Rangers were led by Russ Leyendecker, he went 2-4 with a double and he scored a run. Trent Gertken went 1-4 with a double and Nathan Stang went 1-2 with a double, walked and he scored a run. Grant Thompson went 1-2 with 2 RBI’s and he was hit twice by a pitch and Brady Klingfus went 1-4. Jordan Schleper started on the mound for the Rangers, he gave up 7 hits, 4 walks, 4 runs and he recorded 5 strikeouts. Brady Klingfus threw 2 innings of relief, he gave up 2 hits, 2 runs and 1 walk and Brandon Schleper threw inning of relief, he gave up a hit and 2 runs. 

MEIRE GROVE GROVERS 4  ST. MARTIN MARTINS 2  (5/27/16 @ St. Martin)

The Martins dropped a Stearns County League game to the Grovers, they fell behind in the 1st inning, when the Grovers put up 2 runs. Both teams collected 8 hits a piece. Colton Meyer had a big game for the Grovers, he went 3-4 with a home run and a double for 3 big RBI’s. Andrew Welle went 2-5 with a double and he scored and Alex Welle went 2-4 with a RBI. Jaron Klaphake went 1-3 and Tanner Klaphake walked 3 times and he scored a run. Matt Imdieke started and went the distance, he scattered 8 hits, walked 4 and he recorded 5 strikeouts.

For the Martins, Jaylyn Arceneau started and he threw 7 innings, he scattered 8 hits, walked 2 and he recorded an impressive 12 strikeouts. Bryan Schlangen threw the final 2 innings in relief, he walked one and he recorded 2 strikeouts. Kyle Liser went 2-3 with a home run and he walked and Joshua Stangler went 2-2 and he walked twice. Taylor Holthaus went 1-4 and Austin Arceneau went 1-3 with a double and a walk. Jordan Moscho went 1-4, Michael Schlangen went 1-4 and Scott Schlangen scored a run.

ROSCOE RANGERS 3  GREENWALD CUBS 1 (11 Innings) (5/28/16 @ Greenwald)

The Rangers topped Stearns County rivals the Cubs in a very good ball game, neither team got on the score board till the 8th inning. Both the Rangers and the Cubs put up a run, it remained tied till the top of the 11th, when Nic Dingmann hit a 2 run homer for the Rangers. In the 8th inning, Russ Leyedecker’s double drove in the first run of the game. Brandon Schleper had a good game going 2-6 with a stolen base and Brady Klingfus went 2-3 and he scored a run. Jordan Roos went 1-4 with a walk, stolen base, a sacrifice bunt and he scored a run. Brent Heinen went 1-5, Jordon Schleper went 1-6, Trent Gertken went 1-5 with a walk and Chris Vanderbeck walked twice and he had a stolen base.  Brent Heinen started on the mound for the Rangers, he threw 7 innings, scattered 6 hits, 1 walk, surrendered 1 run and he recorded 8 strikeouts. Jordon Roos earned the win with 4 innings of relief, he gave up 2 hits, 2 walks and he recorded 6 strikeouts.

The Cubs were led by Tyler Engelmere at the plate, he went 3-6 and Doug Imdieke went 2-5. Brandon Worms went 1-4 with a walk and Nick Rademacher went 1-5. Ryan Kramer went 1-3 with a walk and he was hit by a pitch and Tyler Thomes went 1-5 and he scored their only run. Brandon Worms started on the mound for the Cubs, he threw 7 innings, scattered 6 hits, 3 walks, surrendered 1 run and he recorded 3 strikeouts. Peter Lucken was the pitcher of record, he threw 3 innings, gave up 3 hits, 2 runs, 5 walks and he recorded a strikeout and Nic Rademacher threw the final inning.

NEW MUNICH SILVERSTREAKS 13  LAKE HENRY LAKERS 4  (5/29/16 @ Lake Henry)

The Silverstreaks topped Stearns County rival the Lakers, with a 13 hit attack and a good pitching performance. Veteran right hander Jim Thul, started on the mound, he threw 8 innings, scattered 6 hits, surrendered 2 runs and he recorded 4 strikeouts. Nick Stangler closed it out with one inning of relief. Leading the offense was Will and Chad Funk; Will went 3-5 with double, a RBI and he scored 2 runs and Chad went 2-4 with a double, RBI and he scored a run. Grant Johnson had a very good game, he went 2-3 with a home run, 4 RBI’s, he scored 3 runs and he had a stolen base. Lefty Ty Reller went 3-6 with 3 RBI’s and he scored 2 runs and Nick Stangler went 1-4 with a double for 4 RBI’s and he scored a run. Jon Goebel went 2-4 with a double, he walked twice and he scored a run.

For the Lakers Weston Brinkman was the pitcher of record, he started and went 4 1/3 innings. Weston Brinkman led the offense, he went 3-4 and he scored a run and Shane Kampson went 2-4 with a RBI. Jason Kampson went 1-4 and he scored a run and Ryan Wuertz went 1-4. Mitch Weidner went 1-3 and he scored a run, Colin Riley went 1-2 and Colin Spooner went 1-2.

ST. WENDELL SAINTS 3  AVON LAKERS 1  (5/29/16 @ St. Wendell)

The Saints topped South Division leader the Lakers, behind the strong pitching performance by John Pogatchnik. He threw 7 innings, gave up just 3 hits, walked 3, surrendered 1 run and he recorded 5 strikeouts. Kyle Jarnot threw 2 very good innings of relief to earn the save, he gave up 2 hits, no walks and he recorded 2 strikeouts. Keaton Gustin went 1-4 with a RBI, his single in the first got the Saints on the board first. Kyle Jarnot went 1-4 and Max Posch went 1-4 with a single for RBI, to drive in their insurance run in the 7th inning. Jake Braegelman went 1-4 with a walk and he scored a run and Sam Butler walked twice and was hit by a pitch. and Lee Maciej earned a walk with the bases loaded in the fifth for a RBI.

For the Lakers, Jon Harlander started and was the pitcher of record, he threw 4 innings, gave up 3 hits, 5 walks, 2 runs and he struck out 3. Kyle Collins threw 2 innings of relief, he walked one and he struck out two. Shane Olmschied threw 1 inning of relief, he gave up 1 hit and 1 run and Tony Schoenberg threw 1 inning of relief, he gave up 1 hit and he walked one. Riley Voit had a big day at the plate, he went 3-4 and he scored a run, Tony Harlander went 1-2 and Cody Stich went 1-3 with a walk.

FREEPORT BLACK SOX 13 HOLDINGFORD EXPRESS 2  (7 Innings) (5/29/16 @ Freeport)

The Black Sox topped their South Division rival the Express, behind the pitching performance by Carter Sawyer. He threw all 7 innings, he gave up just 3 hits, walked 6, surrendered 2 runs and he stuck out three. Grant Hess had an awesome game, he went 4-4 with a double and 2 RBI’s. Carter Sawyer went 1-4 with a big double to clear the bases in their 5 run fifth inning, he had 4 big RBI’s. Eric Eveslage went 1-3 with 2 RBI’s and he scored 2 runs and Tommy Benson went 1-4 with 3 RBI’s and he scored a run. John Benson went 2-3 with a RBI and he scored a run and Ike Sawyer went 1-2, he scored 3 runs and he had a stolen base. Seth Noll walked twice, 1 stolen base, hit by pitch and he scored 2 runs and Branden Plautz scored two runs.

The Express starting pitcher Derek Thielen was the pitcher of record, he threw 5 innings and Austin Gerads threw one inning of relief. Derek Thielen went 1-3 with a RBI and a walk, Ryan Symanski went 1-3, Taylor Milbrandt went 1-1 and Austin Gerads earned a walk.

ST. STEPHEN STEVES 6 AIKTIN STEAM 5  (12 Innings) (5/29/16 @ St. Stephen)

The Steves topped Victory league foe the Steam behind the pitching performances of Nick Krippner and Austin Guggenberger. Nick threw 8 innings, he scattered 11 hits, walked 2, surrendered 4 runs and he recorded 7 strikeouts. Austin earned the win in relief, he threw 4 innings, gave up 3 hits, walked 6, gave up one run and he recorded 3 strikeouts. Austin Guggenberger had a big day at the plate too, he went 3-4 with a double for a RBI, 2 walks and he scored 2 runs. Blake Guggenberger went 2-4 with 2 RBI’s and a sacrifice fly. Jason Slivnik in his first at bat of the season had a walk off single in the bottom of the 12th. Ben Omann walked, he a sacrifice bunt and he scored a run, Troy Munson walked and had a sacrifice and T. J. The Lakers topped their Victory League foe the Minors with a 10 hits attack, to split their league games for the weekend. Caleb Curry started on the mound, he scattered 5 hits, 1 walk and he recorded 5 strikeouts. Adam Harlander threw 3 innings of relief, he walked 1 and he recorded 5 strikeouts. Troy Wunderlich closed it out with 2 innings of relief, he walked one, gave up 5 hits and he struck out one. Riley Voit had a good day at the plate, he went 2-4 with 2 RBI’s and he walked, he got the Lakers on the board in the 1st inning. Caleb Curry went 1-4 with a triple for 3 RBI’s, he cleared the bases in the 5th to drive in three of the five runs they put up that inning, Caleb also walked and he had a stolen base. Matt Meyer went 1-3 with 2 RBI’s and he scored a run and Adam Harlander went 1-3 with a RBI and he walked twice. Reed Voit went 1-3 and he scored a run and Zac Tomschke went 1-2 and he scored 2 runs. Kenny Webber went 1-1 and he scored, Conner Huberty went 1-1 with a RBI and he scored and Cody Stich went 1-1 with a walk and he scored a run.

The Minors pitcher of record was Jake Zontelli, he threw three innings and Jamie Stall threw 5 innings of relief. Lance Herbst went 2-5 with a RBI and he scored and Dillon Solid went 1-3 with a RBI. The Steves topped their Victory League rivals the Express behind the strong pitching efforts by Andy Stolt and Isaac Dammen. Andy started and threw 6 innings to earn the win, he gave up just 4 hits, surrendered 1 run, no walks and he recorded 3 strikeouts. Isaac threw 3 innings to earn the save, he recorded 6 strikeouts in short but outstanding relief work. Cody Wolhart went 2-5, had a RBI, scored a run and he had a stolen base and Brandon Waldvogel went 3-5 and he scored a run. Sam Neeser went 2-5 with two stolen bases and he scored a run. Bo Schmitz went 1-5 with a RBI, he scored and he had a stolen base and Jason Slivnik went 1-4 with a walk. Troy Munson went 1-4 with a walk, stolen base and he scored a run, Ben Omann walked twice and he was hit by a pitch and Charlie Slivnik went 1-1.

For the Express, Derek Thielen started on the mound and he was the pitcher of record, he threw 6 innings, scattered 8 hits, walked 2, he surrendered 5 runs and he recorded 7 strikeouts. Ian Hoffarth threw 3 innings of relief, he gave up 3 hits, 3 walks, 1 run and he struck out one. Derek Beniek went 1-2 and he was hit twice by a pitch and Jake Klein went 1-3 and he scored their run. Travis Thielen went 1-3, Drew Soltis went 1-3 and Jeremy Springer had a stolen base.

FORT RIPLEY REBELS 7  FREEPORT BLACK SOX 0 (5/31/16 @ Fort Ripley)

The Black Sox dropped their Victory game to their rivals the Rebels, so they earned a split of their games for the weekend. Logan Kalis started and he threw 8 innings, scattered 4 hits, walked 3 and he recorded 5 strikeouts to earn the win. Jack Hegarty threw one inning of relief and he recorded two strikeouts. Brian Skluzacek went 3-4 with a RBI, he walked and scored a run. Brett Kramer went 1-2 with a 3 run homer in the first innings, he had 4 RBI’s for the game. Jack Hagerty went 1-4 with a double and he scored a run and Rhett Williamson went 1-4 with a RBI and he walked twice.

The Sox’s were led by Carter Sawyer, he went 2-4 with a double, Eric Evaslage went 1-3 with a walk and Troy Frieler went 1-3. Ryan Tschida and Isaac Sawyer both earned walks. Mitch Reller started on the mound for the Black Sox, he threw 7 innings and Tommy Benson threw one inning of relief.

NISSWA LIGHTNING 16 ST. WENDEL SAINTS 3 (7 Innings) 5/30/16 @ St. Wendel)

The Lightning showed why they are one of the top ranked Class C teams in the state, they pounded out 20 hits and they hit three home runs. They topped their Victory League foe the Saints on Memorial Day, Kyle Schaible was their starting pitcher, he went 6 innings, surrendered 3 runs, scattered 6 hits, one walk and he had one strikeout. Luke Schumer (Former St. Joseph Saint) threw the final inning, he gave up a hit and he struck out one. Leading their offense was Nate DeChaine, he went 3-5 with a home run and 2 RBI’s and Aaron Jenkins went 2-4 with a grand slam and 5 big RBI’s. Drew Boland went 4-6 and Tony Miller went 4-5 and he scored 2 runs. Morgan Shephard went 3-5 and he scored three times and Luke Schumer went 1-3 with a home run, 2 walks and he scored 2 runs. Logan McElfresh went 2-5 and Tyler Wittwer went 1-3 with 2 walks and he scored 3 runs.

For the Saints Max Posch started on the mound and he took the loss, after throwing 6 innings. Keaton Gustin went 1-3 with a home run and 3 RBI’s and Jake Braegelman went 1-2, he walked and he scored a run. Max Posch went 1-2, Beau Maciej went 1-2 and Kyle Jarnot went 1-1.

The Springers pounded out 14 hits and played some very good defense to defeat their class A foe the Angels. The offense was led Eric Loxtercamp, he a great night at the plate, he went 2-4 with a 2 run homer and a double for 3 big RBI’s. Zach Femrite had a good night, as he went 2-3 with 2 doubles and he scored 2 runs. Tyler Geislinger had a very good night he went 2-4 with 3 big RBI’s and he scored a run. Tyler also had a great diving catch in center field that preserved the shut out. Alex Jungels had a good game going 2-4 with 2 RBI’s, he scored a run and he was hit by a pitch. Ryan Holthaus went 1-2 with a double and a RBI and Brad Olson went 1-4 with a RBI and he scored a run. Justin Thompson went 1-2 walked and he scored 2 runs and Nate Hinkemeyer went 1-2. Jeron Terres in his first game back from NDSU, went 1-5 and he made some very good plays at shortstop. Chris Butala went 1-2 and Joe Demsey was hit by a pitch and he scored a run. Zach Femrite started on the mound for the Springers, he threw 5 innings to earn the win. He scattered 3 hits, walked 1 and he recorded 6 strikeouts. Chris Butala earned the save, as he threw 3 innings, he gave up 3 hits, no walks and he recorded 1 strikeout. The Springers sent 10 batters to the plate in the 2nd inning, four hits, including a home run and a double, 1 walk and a hit batter and they put 6 runs on the board.

Brian Hronski was the pitcher of record for the Angels, he threw 6 innings, he also led their offense as he went 2-3 with a double. Kipp Youngquist went 2-4, Jordan Gefroh went 1-4 and Derek Cagle, a Sauk Rapids native, went 1-3.

ST. CLOUD BEAUDREAUS SAINTS 4  ST. AUGUSTA GUSSIES 4 (5/25/16 @ St. Augusta)

The Saints and the Gussies tied after nine innings; the Saints out hit the Gussies 9-7 and the Saints left 15 on base and the Gussies 7 runners were stranded. The Gussies put up 3 runs in the first inning to take a early led. The Saints scored a pair of runs in both the 4th and the 7th innings and Gussies one in the bottom of the 7th inning. Brindley Theisen started on the mound for the Saints, he threw 4 innings, gave up 4 hits, 2 runs, 4 walks and he recorded 4 strikeouts. Tommy Auger threw 2 innings of relief, he gave up 2 hits and he recorded a strikeout. Dominic Austing threw 3 innings of relief, he gave up 1 hit, 1 run, 1 walk and he recorded 4 strikeouts. Steve Neutzling went 2-4 with a 2 run home run and Jason Kotschevar went 2-4 and he scored a run. Brian Minks went 1-4, with a RBI, sacrifice bunt and a sacrifice fly and Tom Imholte went 1-4 with a double for a RBI and he walked. Nick Hengel went 1-4 with a walk and he scored a run and Tommy Auger went 1-5 and he scored a run.

Dustin Schultzenburg started on the mound for the Gussies, he threw 5 innings, he scattered 6 hits, walked 2 and he surrendered 2 runs. Zach Laudenbach threw 2 innings of relief, he gave up a hit, 2 walks, 2 runs and he recorded 2 strikeouts. Luke Richardson threw 2 innings, he gave up 2 hits, 1 walk and 1 run. Brady Graft had a good night at the plate, he went 2-3 with a RBI and he walked and Aaron Fruth went 2-3 with 2 RBI’s and he walked. Dustin Schultzenburg went 1-1 with a walk and he scored a run and Adam Gwost went 1-4 and he scored a run. Matt Skaja went 1-4, Marcus Lommel walked twice and he scored 2 runs and Luke Richardson went 1-2.

SAUK RAPIDS CYCLONES 5 ELK RIVER WOOD DUCKS 3 (5/25/16 @ Sauk Rapids)

The Cyclones topped the Wood Ducks, a class B team from Elk River, behind the pitching performances of Brett DeGagne, Nate Friehammer and David Kroger. Brett started, he threw 3 innings, he didn’t give up a hit or a walk and he had 6 strikeouts. Nate threw 4 innings, he gave up 1 hit, 1 walk and he recorded 3 strikeouts. David thew 2 innings, he gave up 2 hits, 3 runs, 2 walks and he recorded 2 strikeouts. The Cyclones were led by Paul Schlangen, he went 2-4 with 4 big RBI’s. He had a huge base hit to drive in 2 runs in the bottom of the 8th. Tyler Long had a good game, he went 2-4 with a double and he scored 2 runs. Joel Haller went 2-5 with a RBI and he walked, Evan Warnert went 1-4 and Tyler Bjork walked 3 times and he scored 2 runs.

For the Wood Ducks, Eric Brauch was the starting pitcher and the pitcher of record. Cory Kaminski led their offense, he had a double for 3 big RBI’s in the 7th inning.

COLD SPRING SILVER SPRINGERS 3 LUXEMBURG BREWERS 2  (7 In.) 5/25/16 @ Cold Spring

The 35 and over crew, the Silver Springers won their second exhibition game of the season over the Brewers of the Central Valley League. They loaded the bases in the bottom of seventh inning and the player/manager of the Brainerd Bees, Tim Martin had a walk off single to drive in the former Orthopedic ICE player, Andy Auger. The Brewers did out hit the Springers 9-7. Andy Auger was the starting pitcher for the Silvers, he threw 3 innings, he gave up 5 hits, 1 run and he recorded 3 strikeouts. Todd Steil threw 1 inning of relief, he gave up 1 hit and Russ Huls threw 2 innings or relief, he gave up 2 hits, 1 run and he recorded a strikeout. Dave HInkemeyer entered the game in the 7th inning, he gave up 1 hit, he earned the win for the Silvers. Tim Martin went 1-3 and Todd Steil went 1-1 with a walk and he scored a run. Greg Bemboom went 1-3, Greg “The Cat” Terres went 1-3 with a stolen base. Mike Arnold went 1-2 with a walk and Todd Geislinger earned a walk.

The Brewers were led by Chase Aleshire, he went 3-3 with a RBI andAustin Klaverkamp went 2-3, with a double and he scored a run. Mitch Ergen went 1-3 with a RBI and Cory Wenz went 1-2 and he scored a run. John Fish went 1-3 with a double and Colton Frurth went 1-1. Nick Baker started on the mound for the Brewers, he threw 3 innings and he gave up 2 hits. Derrick Orth threw 2 innings of relief, he gave up 1 hit and he recorded 2 strikeouts. Brice Adelmeyer threw 1 inning and he gave up a hit and Austin Klaverkamp entered the game, with the bases loaded, he gave up walk and a single and he recorded a strikeout. The lefty was the pitcher of record for the Brewers.

The Blues had six different pitchers, Ross Wendlandt was the starting pitcher and Dylan Katzer was their pitcher of record. Jake Schultz led the Blues offense, he went 3-4 with a RBI and Toby Chellin went 1-5 with a double and 3 RBI’s. Dylan Kotzer went 1-5 with a double and Cody Beavers went with a RBI. Dylan Koll went 1-5 with a RBI, Jake Johnson went 1-2 with a RBI and Dan Oster went 1-3.

SARTELL STONE PONEYS 12 LITCHFIELD BLUES 9 (5/25/16 @ Litchfield)

The Ponies topped the Blues of the Sauk Valley league with a late rally, they were trailing 9-1 going in to the top of the 6th inning.  They put up 3 runs in the 6th, 7 runs in the 8th and an insurance run in the top of the 9th. Jeff Amann was the starting pitcher for the Poneys, he threw 6 1/3 innings, gave up 6 hits, 9 runs of which 2 were earned, walked 5 and he recorded 7 strikeouts.  Nathan Nierenhausen threw 2 2/3 innings of relief to earn the win, he gave up 1 walk and he recorded 3 strikeouts. Jeff Amann had a great game at the plate, he went 4-6 with a double and 3 big RBI’s and he scored a run. Alex O’Leary had a good game, he went 3-6 with 2 RBI’s and he scored a run. Jim Gabrielson went 2-5 with a RBI and he scored 2 runs and Jake Wenzel went 2-6 with 2 RBI’s, he walked, had a stolen base and he scored a run. Brandon Reinking went 1-4 with 2 walks and he scored twice, Jesse Ouren went 1-5, he walked and he scored 2 runs. Nathan Nierenhausen went 1-5 with a walk and he score a run and Sean Tillman was 1-3, he walked, had a stolen base and he scored a run.
