LOCAL BASEBALL ROUNDUP

Back for a third season at http://knsiradio.com/sports/high-school-msc/about-msc/ with your weekly amateur baseball (Town Team) baseball reports. The plan is to continue to include: Lakewood League, Central Valley League, Sauk Valley League, Victory League South, Eastern Minney West and Stearns County South teams this season and the upcoming schedule for each league including tournament and exhibition games. In addition the league standings thru out the season.  Check out the Minnesota Amateur Baseball Web site for additional information.

GAME OF THE WEEK

SARTELL MUSKIES 3 COLD SPRING SPRINGERS 2 (20 Innings) (5/22/16 @ Sartell)

The Muskies and the Springers did battle last Sunday and 4 hours and 20 innings later the Muskies did prevail 3-2. The game featured two of the better amateur pitchers in the state, Lefty David Deminsky and Right hander Zach Femrite. They both battled for 5 innings. David scattered 4 hits, walked 2, surrendered 1 run and he recorded 7 strikeouts.  Zach gave up 3 hits, walked 2 and he recorded 6 strikeouts. Adam Wenker took the mound duties for the Muskies, he thew 7 innings of relief, he gave up just 2 hits, 1 run, 1 walk and he recorded 6 strikeouts. Travis took over the mound duties in 13th inning, he threw the final 8 innings to earn the win. It was Cody Partch’s single to left field that scored Jake Sweeter from 2nd base for the winning run. Andrew Deters went 4-9 and Jake Sweeter went 3-9 with 1 RBI and he scored 2 runs. Cody Partch was 2-8 with the walk off single, Dan O’Connel went 2-8 with a walk and Adam Wenker went 1-4 with a sacrifice bunt. Austin Gohl went 2-8, Jonah Nebosis went 1-6 and he walked 3 times and Luke Sweeter was 1-9.

For the Springers again Zach Femrite was the starter, he gave up 3 hits, 3 walks and he had 5 strikeouts. Then Justin Thompson entered the game in the 6th inning, he threw 5 innings after catching 5 innings. Justin gave up 3 hits, walked 3 an he had 3 strikeouts. Jack Arnold entered the game in the 12th inning, he threw nearly a whole game, he went 8 innings and Drew VanLoy threw the final 1 1/3 innings, he was the pitcher of record. Joe Dempsey went 3-8 with a walk, Alex Jungels went 2-5, 2 walks and a sacrifice fly and Zach Hinkemeyer went 2-7 with a walk and he scored a run. Garrett Fuchs went 1-4 with a RBI and he walked, Eric Loxtercamp went 1-7 with a sacrifice bunt and Tyler Geislinger went 1-4.

CENTRAL VALLEY LEAGUE

WATKINS CLIPPERS 10 LUXEMBURG 0 (7 Innings) (5/20/16 @ Cold Spring)

The Clippers defeated CVL rivals the Brewers behind their 13 hit attack, led by Kevin Kramer. He went 4-4 with a double and he scored 2 runs and Brendon Ashton had a big night too, he went 3-4 with a big 3 run home run for 3 big RBI’s. Gary Peters went 2-3 with a RBI and he scored a run and Dan Berg went 1-4 with 2 RBI’s and he scored 2 runs. Matt Geilsinger went 1-2 with a double, walked and scored a run and Adam Hiltner went 1-2 with a sacrifice fly for a RBI. Lincoln Haugen had two sacrifice flys for 2 RBI’s and Rob Doboszinski went and he scored a run. Brian Benson earned a walk and Carter Geislinger walked in his pinch hit appearance. Matt Geislinger started on the mound for the Clippers, he threw 6 strong innings. He scattered 6 hits, walked 2 and he record 10 strikeouts. Heath Kramer closed out the 7th inning with 2 strikeouts.

The Brewers playing with just 9 guys, were led by Nick Baker, he went 2-2 with a triple and a double and he walked. Chase Aleshire went 2-3, John Fish went 1-3 and Mitch Ergen went 1-3. Mitch Ergen started on the mound for the Brewers and he went 5 innings and Luke Harren threw 3 innings of relief.

ST. AUGUSTA GUSSIES 14  PEARL LAKE LAKERS 10 (5/21/16 @ Marty)

The Gussies put 8 runs on the board in the second inning, as they pounded out 17 hits over their CVL rival the Lakers. Marcus Lommel had a great game at the plate, he went 2-4 with a triple and a double,, he walked twice and he scored 2 runs. Veteran Dusty Schultzenburg went 2-3 with 2 RBI’s, he had a sacrifice fly, he walked, had a stolen base and he scored a run. Aaron Fruth went 3-6 with a double, 3 stolen bases and he scored 3 runs. Nate Gwost went 2-5 with a RBI, stolen base and he scored a run.  Dan Swan went 3-4 with a RBI and he scored a run. Brady Graft had a good game, he went 2-2 with a RBI, walked 4 times and he scored 2 runs. Matt Skaja went 1-4 with a double and 2 RBI’s and he scored a run. Mitch Gwost went 1-5, he walked and he scored 2 runs and Michael Laudenbach went 1-2. Travis Laudenbach started the pitching duties, he went 6 innings, scattered 9 hits to earned the win. Zach Laudenbach threw 3 innings of relief to earn the save, he gave up 2 hits, walked 2 and he recorded 2 strikeouts.

For the Lakers, Tony Garding was their starting pitcher and the pitcher of record, he threw 5 innings. Preston Peglow led the Lakers offense, as he went 3-4 with 2 doubles for 2 RBI’s and he scored 3 runs. Andy Lenzmier had a very good game too, he went 3-4 with a double and 4 RBI’s. Justin Kunkel went 1-4 with a home run for 3 RBI’s and he scored 2 runs. Logan Schramel went 1-4 with a walked and he scored, Andy Linn went 1-4 and Chad Kunkel went 1-2 and he scored a run.

KIMBALL EXPRESS 4 LUXEMBURG 3 (5/22/16 @ Luxemburg)

The Express remained unbeaten in the CVL with a big win over their rivals the Brewers. They were led by the pitching of Zach Kuefler, he threw 5 2/3 innings, gave up 9 hits and 2 walks to earn the win. Andy Dingmann threw 1 1/3, Jordan Joseph threw 1 and Ben Johnson earned the save with 1 inning of relief. Kyle Winter had a good game at the plate, he went 1-3 with a double for a RBI and he walked. Scott Marquardt went 1-5 with a RBI, Brain Marquardt went 1-3 and Brooks Marquardt went 1-4 with a walk and he scored a run. Ben Johnson went 1-4 and he scored a run and and Adam Beyer went 1-4. Jordan Joseph went 1-5, Zach Kuefler and Troy Filzen both scored runs.

For the Brewers they were led by Isaac Matchinsky at the plate, he went 2-4, with a double and 2 RBI’s and he walked. Nick Baker had a good game, he went 3-3 with walk and  scored a run. Cory Wenz went 1-4 with a double and Austin Klavercamp went 1-5. Chase Aleshire and Derrick Orth both went 1-5 and Tanner Skaja went 2-3 and he scored a run. Colton Fruth went 1-3 and Ethyn Fruth earned a walk.

COLD SPRING ROCKIES 7 PEARL LAKE LAKERS 4 (5/22/16 @ Cold Spring)

The Rockies pounded out 12 hits to topped CVL rivals the Lakers, for their first CVL of the season. Chris Lardy started on the mound for the Rockies, he threw 7 innings, he scattered 6 hits, walked 4, surrendered 3 runs and he had 3 strikeouts. Jordan Neu closed it out with 2 innings of relief, he gave up a hit, 1 walk and he had one strikeout. Calvin Kalthoff had a great game, he went 3-5 and Mason Rugemer went 2-4 with a RBI, stolen base and he scored 2 runs. Ryan Bell went 1-5 with a triple, RBI and he scored a run and David Jonas went 1-5 with a RBI. Marshall Witzfeld went 1-4 with a RBI and Jordan Neu went 1-4 and he scored a run. Kirby Tebrake went 1-5, Jake Hennen went 1-2 with a walk and he scored and Blake Holbrook went 1-1 with a stolen base.

The Lakers pitcher of record was Logan Schramel, he threw 5 innings and Steve Krippner threw 3 innings of relief. Steve Krippner had a good game, he went 2-3 with a double, RBI and he scored 2 runs. Logan Schramel went 2-4 with 2 walks and he scored a run and Justin Kunkel went 1-4 with a RBI. Tommy Linn went 1-4, Ryan Wieneke went 1-3 with a walk and Andy Linn went 1-3 with a walk.

WATKINS CLIPPERS 6 EDEN VALLEY HAWKS 3 (5/22/16 @ Watkins)

The Clippers topped their CVL rivals the Hawks behind the strong pitching efforts by T. J. Frericks, he started and went 6 2/3 innings. He gave up 3 hits, walked 3, surrendered 3 runs and he recorded 3 strikeouts. Dan Berg threw 2 1/3 innings of relief to earn the save, he gave up 1hit and he recorded 3 strikeouts. Kevin Kramer continued his hot hitting, he went 2-5 with 2 RBI’s and Matt Geislinger had a very good game, he went 3-4 with  2 doubles and he scored 2 runs. Heath Kramer had a good game, he went 2-4 with a double and 2 RIB’s and Dan Berg went 2-4 and he scored a run. Gary Peters went 1-4 with a RBI and Brendon Ashton went 1-4. Adam Hiltner went 1-2 with a RBI and he scored 2 runs, Rob Dobozinski went 1-3 with a sacrifice and he had a stolen base and Lincoln Haugen walked and he scored a run.

The Hawks were led by Tanner Olean on offense, he went 2-5 with a RBI and Nathan Geislinger went 1-3 with a RBI. Trent Norgren went 1-4 and Josh Schumacher walked and he scored a run. Matt Pennertz walked and he had a RBI and Zach Schlangen walked and scored a run. Austin Schlangen was the starting pitcher for the Hawks, he threw 6 innings and he was pitcher of record. Tanner Olean threw 3 innings in relief for the Hawks.

ST. AUGUSTA GUSSIES 5 ST. NICHOLAS NICKS 3 (5/22/16 @ St. Nicholas)

The Gussies topped their CVL rivals the Nicks behind the pitching efforts of Aaron Fruth, he threw 6 innings to earn the win. He gave up 6 hits, 1 run, 2 walks and 7 strikeouts. Dan Swan earned the save with 2 innings of relief, he gave up 4 hits, 2 runs, 2 walks and he recorded 3 strikeouts. The Gussies were actually out hit 10-5, but their hits were timely, led by Marcus Lommel he had a 2 run home run. Brady Graft went 1-3 with a double for a RBI, walked, a stolen base and he scored a run. Dustin Schultzenburg (Mr. Steady) went 2-4 with 2 stolen bases and he scored a run. Nate Gwost went 1-2, walked, had 2 stolen bases and he scored 2 runs and Mitch Gwost had a RBI.

The Nicks pitcher of record was Travis Hanson, he started and threw 7 innings, he scattered 4 hits, walked 2, surrendered 4 runs and he had 3 strikeouts. Derek Kuechle threw 2 innings of relief,  gave up a hit and one run. Travis Hanson had a big game at the plate, he went 3-4 with a walk and a stolen base. Robert Lutgen went 2-4 with a RBI and stolen base and Derek Kuechle went 2-3 with a walk, stolen base and he scored 2 runs. Joe Wehlage went 1-5 with a RBI and Matt Schott went 1-3 with a RBI and a walk. Jeff Lutgen went 1-4 scored a run and Tanner Anderson earned a walk.

The Lumberjacks topped their second Sauk Valley rival of the weekend, they defeated the Lakers in 7 innings. Mike Plante started and he threw 6 innings to earn the win and Mike Beier closed it out. Ean VonWald had a awesome day going 4-5 and there others had 3 hits each: Brandon Holthaus, Mike Plante and Sam Keeler.

There was no information made available by the Lakers on this game.

FOLEY LUMBERJACKS 6 LITCHFIELD BLUES 1 (5/22/16 @ Foley)

The Lumberjacks pounded the ball with a 12 hit attack to top Sauk Valley rivals the Blues. Hunter Hamers started and was the pitcher of record for the Lumberjacks, he threw 8 innings, scattered 6 hits, 4 walks and he recorded 5 strikeouts. Rich Rasmussen had a huge day, he went 2-4 with a 3 run homer. Noah Winkelman, had a great day too, he went 2-4 with a home run. Joel Boleg went 2-3 with a RBI and Mike Plante went 2-4 with a RBI. Jordan Balke went 2-4 and Sam Keeler went 2-4.

The Blues pitcher of record was Kaleb Kalbrenner, he threw 6 innings and Dylan Kotzer threw the final 2 innings. Dan Oster went 2-4 with a RBI and Dylan Kotzer went 1-3 with a double. Jake Schultz went 2-2 and Ross Wendlandt went 1-4.

The Martins topped their Stearns County rivals the Lakers in a very close game, they each had 6 hits and the Martins left 11 runners on and The Lakers left 8 runners on. The Martins were led by the strong pitching performance of Ben Schroeder. Ben started and went 6 innings, he scattered 6 hits, walked 2 and he recorded 8 strikeouts. Scott Schlangen earned the save for the Martins, he threw 3 innings of relief and he stuck out two. Taylor Holthaus had a big game, he went 2-5 and Scott Schlangen went 2-3 and he scored a run. Austin Arceneau had a very good game, he went 1-1 with a RBI, he had a sacrifice bunt, walked twice and he had 2 stolen bases. Jordan Moscho went 1-3 and was hit by a pitch, Matthew Schlangen walked, was hit by a pitch and he had a RBI and Josh Stangler walked and he scored a run.

The Lakers pitcher of record was their starter; Weston Brinkman, he threw 5 1/3 innings, gave up 6 hits, walked 5 and he had 4 strikeouts.  Jason Kampson threw 1 2/3 innings of relief, he recorded 2 strikeouts and Mitch Weidner threw two innings of relief. Weston Brinkman went 2-4 with a stolen base and Jason Kampson went 2-4. Caleb Burris went 1-3 with a stolen base and Shane Kampson went 1-4. FARMING FLAMES 5 NEW MUNICH SILVERSTREAKS 4 (5/22/16 @ Farming)

The Flames topped the Stearns County North leaders the Silverstreaks behind the pitching efforts of Kyle Zierden and Brad Mergen. Kyle started, he threw 6 innings, scattered 9 hits, surrendered 4 runs, walked 2 and he recorded 6 strikeouts. Brad Mergen earned the win, with 3 innings of relief, he gave up 2 hits, walked 3 and he had 3 strikeouts. Nick Mergen had a big day at the plate, he went 2-4 with a home run and a double for 2 RBI’s. Craig Klein had a good day, he went 3-4 with 2 doubles and he scored 2 runs. Aaron went 1-4 with a big home run and he scored 2 runs and Brad Mergen went 2-4. Kyle Zierden went 1-2 with a RBI and had a stolen base, Mitchell Thelen went 1-4 and Cody Fourre went 1-1 with a RBI.

The Silverstreaks pitcher of record, was veteran right hander, Jim Thul, he threw 8 innings. He scattered 11 hits, and he recorded a strikeout. Will Funk had a big day, as he went 4-5 and scored a run and Hunter Rademacher went 3-4 walked and he scored a run. Nick Stangler went 1-4 with a double for a RBI, Jon Gaeber went 1-4 with a solo home run and Jacob Himmenkamp went 1-3 with a walk.

RICHMOND ROYALS 7 ROSCOE RANGERS 3 (5/22/16 @ Roscoe)

The Royals topped Stearns County rivals the Rangers behind the pitching efforts of Andy Bauer and Alex Budde. Andy threw 6 innings, he scattered 8 hits, surrendered 2 runs, no walks and 3 strikeouts. Alex Budde earned the win, with 3 innings of relief, he gave up 4 hits, 1 walk, 1 run and he had 2 strikeouts.  Scott Ruegemer had good day, he went 2-5 with a 2 run homer and Kyle Budde went 2-5 with a double. Cole Schmitz went 1-5 with 2 RBI’s and he walked and Adam Backes went 1-2, 3 walks, stolen base and he scored 4 runs. Cory Niewend went 1-4 with a double and he walked and D. J. Scheicher walked twice and he scored a run. Tim Hanson was hit by a pitch and he had a stolen base and Dan Hanson earned 2 walks.

The Rangers pitcher of record was Brady Klingfus, he threw 1 2/3 innings. The Ranger starting pitcher, Joe Mackendanz threw 6 innings, he gave up just 4 hits, walked 4 and he surrendered 3 runs and he had 3 strikeouts and Jordan Roos threw 1 1/3 innings of relief.

Jordan Roos had a great game, he went 3-4 with a walk, stolen base and he scored 2 runs. Trent Gertken went 2-5 with a double and 2 RBI’s and Nic Dingmann went 2-4 with a sacrifice bunt. The Lakers defeated the newcomer in the Victory League; the Steam behind the pitching efforts by Caleb Curry. Caleb earned the win, he threw 5 innings, scattered 4 hits and he had 5 strikeouts. Matt Meyer had a big game, he went 3-5 with a RBI and he scored a run. Carter Holthaus went 1-4 with a bases clearing triple in the top of the 5th inning for 3 big RBI’s. Reed Voit went 1-4 with a double and a RBI and Cody Stich went 2-4 and he scored a run. Mr. Consistent, Rick Hendrickson, went 1-3 with 2 walks. 

The Steam’s pitcher of record was their starter Nathan Ehnstrom, he threw 5 innings and Jake Lynn threw 4 innings of relief. Brian Burman had a good game, he went 2-3 with a home run. Sam Peterson went 1-4 with a double and he scored and Austin Krohn went 2-4.

NISSWA LIGHTNING 6 ST. STEPHEN STEVES 0 (5/22/16 @ St. Stephen)

The Lightning topped Victory league rival the Steves behind the pitching of Scott Sand (Former St. Joseph Saint), he threw 8 innings, scattered 6 hits, walked 2 and he had 3 strikeouts to earn the win. Luke Schumer (Former St. Joseph Saint) threw an inning of relief to close it out. Nate DeChaine went 2-2 with a pair of home runs for 4 big RBI’s. Luke Schumer went 1-2 with 3 walks and 2 big RBI’s, Logan McElfresh went 2-5 with a double and Aaron Jenkins went 1-5 with a double.

The Steves offense was led by Bo Schmitz, he went 2-4, Austin Guggenberger went 1-3 with a double and he walked and Blake Guggenberger went 1-4 with a double. Ben Oman went 1-4, Nick Krippner went 1-3 and T. J. Bevans earned a walk. Lefty Isaac Damen started and threw 5 2/3 innings, scattered 4 hits, walked 7 and he gave up 2 hits. Blake Guggenberger threw 3 1/3 innings of relief, he gave up 2 hits, 2 walks, 3 runs and he had 2 strikeouts.

FORT RIPLEY REBELS 6 ST. WENDEL SAINTS 1 (5/22/16 @ St. Wendel)

The Rebels defeated Victory league rivals the Saints behind the pitching of Brett Kramer, he threw 6 innings, he scattered 3 hits, 1 run, no walks and he recored 9 strikeouts. Logan Kalis earned the save with 3 innings of relief, he gave up 2 hits and he walked one. Rhett Williamson went 2-3 with a 2 run homer and Brett Kramer went 3-4 with a RBI. Logan Kalis went 1-5 with 2 RBI’s and Dustin Littlefield went 1-4 with a double. Jason Sather went 1-4 with a double and Brian Skluzacek went 1-4 with a double.

The Saints pitcher of record was starter, John Pogatchnik, he threw 5 innings, and Kyle Jarnot threw 4 innings of relief. John Potatchnik, had a good game he went 3-4, Lee Maciej went 1-4 and he scored and Beau Maciej went 1-4.

CUYUNA RANGE MINORS 8 HOLDINGFORD EXPRESS 2 (5/22/16 @ Holdingford)

The Rangers topped the Express in Victory league play, behind the pitching of Jake Zontelli, he started and threw 6 innings and C. J. Wohl earned the save throwing 3 innings. Dillon Solid went 2-4 with 2 RBI’s and 2 stolen bases and Hunter Leslie went 2-5 with 2 RBI’s.

The Express pitcher of record was Ian Hoffarth, he threw 5 1/3 innings. Ian Hoffarth led their offense as he went 2-5 with a double and a RBI and Ryan Szymanski went 1-3 with a sacrifice fly for a RBI. Jake Klein went 1-3 with a doubleand a walk and Jeremy Springer went 1-4 and he scored a run.

ST. MATHIS DEVILS 15  FREEPORT BLACK SOX 6 (5/21/16 @ Freeport)

The Devils topped their Victory league rivals the Black Sox with a 13 hit attack, that was led by Matt Tautges. Matt went 3-4 with a double and 5 big RBI’s and Teddy Dehler went 2-6 with a double and a RBI. Evan Woitalla went 2-5 with a double, RBI and a stolen base and Kolten Eischens went 1-3 with a double and a RBI. Brett Kapsner went 1-6 with a RBI and David Skiba went 1-2 with 2 walks and he was hit by a pitch. Conner Knettel went 1-2 with 3 walks and he scored 4 runs and Nate Esckenbecker went 1-3 with a RBI, walked and he scored 3 runs.

For the Black Sox Carter Sawyer led their offense, as he went 3-4 with 2 doubles, he scored 3 runs and he was hit by a pitch. Eric Eveslage had a very good game, he went 2-5 with 2 doubles, 2 RBI’s and he scored a run. Grant Hess went 2-4, he doubled, had a sacrifice fly for a RBI and he scored a run. Nate Mettenburg went 1-4 and he was hit by a pitch and Johnny Benson went 1-4 with a sacrifice. Troy Frieler walked twice and he had a RBI and Mitch Waldvogel walked and was hit by a pitch. Mitch Reller was the pitcher of record, he threw 7 innings, gave up 11 hits, walked 6 and he recorded 8 strikeouts. Craig Meyer threw 2 innings of relief, he gave up 2 hits and 3 walks.

SAUK RAPIDS CYCLONES 14 ROGERS RED DEVILS 6  (5/15/16 @ Rogers)

The Cyclones opened their season with a big win over the Red Devils of Rogers, they are a Class B team from the Central Ridge League. The Cyclones were led by a 14 hit attack, led by Joel Haller, he went 2-4 with a base clearing triple for 3 big RBI’s and he scored 2 runs.  Paul Schlangen had a good game, he went 3-6 and Tommy Wippler went 2-4 with a RBI and he scored a run. Ty Long went 1-4, Tyler Bjork was 1-2, walked 3 times, scored 2 runs and he had 1 RBI. Casey Lynch was 1-3, walked, had 1 RBI and he scored a run, Jesse Lavoi  was 1-3, he had 2 RBI’s, walked and scored a run. Evan Warnert went 1-3, he walked twice, scored 2 runs and he had a RBI. Tyler Bjork was the starting pitcher, he went 5 innings, gave up 4 hits, 2 runs and he recorded 6 strikeouts to earn the win and Lefty Bryce Gapinski threw 4 innings of relief, he recorded 3 strikeouts.

SAUK RAPIDS CYCLONE 5 ST. JOSEPH JOES 3 (5/1816 at Sauk Rapids)

The Cyclones, in their second game of the season, topped the Joes on a walk off 3 run home run by Tyler Bjork. There were two outs and Tyler had 2 strikes on him before he went the yard. Tyler also threw 3 innings of relief to earn the win, he gave up 1 hit, 3 walks and he recorded 5 strikeouts. College freshman Casey Lynch started on the mound, he threw 6 innings, he scattered 4 hits, surrendered 2 runs, walked one and he recorded 5 strikeouts.  Tyler Bjork went 2-5 with his 3 run homer run and Casey Lynch went 2-4 and he scored a run. Former Big Lake White Cap player, Mitch Loegering went 2-4 with a RBI. Paul Schlangen went 1-2 with a RBI, walked and he was hit by a pitch and Joel Haller went 1-3 with a sacrifice bunt. Jesse Lavoi walked 2 times and he had a stolen base and Evan Warnert walked and scored a run.

The Joes got a very good pitching performance by R. J. Alpers, he threw a complete game, he scattered 8 hits, walked 5 and he recorded 5 strikeouts. Joey Stock led the Joes  on offense, he went 2-3 with a RBI, walked and he scored a run. R. J. Alpers went 1-4 with a RBI and he scored a run and Ben Biercheid went 1-4. Willie Willats went 1-2 with a walk and Eric Vigil had a sacrifice fly for a RBI. Cody Darnell had a sacrifice bunt, Ethan Carlson and Ben Alvord both walked and Caz Novak scored a run.

KIMBALL EXPRESS 12 GREEN ISLE IRISH 1 (7 Innings) (5/21/16) @ Kimball

The Express topped the Irish behind the strong pitching performance by Joey VonWahlde, he threw 7 innings. He gave up just 2 hits, walked 2 and he recoreded 6 strike outs. This was big, because the Express was missing no less than 3 starters in the game. The express pounded out 13 hits, led by Austin Ruehle, he went 4-4 with a double and 2 RBI’s and he scored 3 runs. Zach Kueffler went 1-4 with a RBI and Jordan Joseph went 2-5 with a double for 2 RBI’s and he scored one run. Joey VonWahlde had a good day at the plate too, he went 2-2 with a RBI, walked twice and he scored 2 runs. Troy Filzen went 1-3 with a double, 2 RBI’s, walked once and he scored 2 runs. Adam Beyer went 1-4 with a double for a RBI and he scored a run and Brian Marquardt went 1-4 with a RBI and he scored a run. Kyle Winter went 1-2 with a RBI, he walked twice and he scored a run and Matt Dingmann walked, scored a run and he had a RBI.

The Irish were also were missing a few starters, their starting pitcher was David Cushing. He threw 5 1/3 innings, he was the pitcher of record. The Irish were led by Josh Anthony he went 1-3 and Alex Twenge went 1-3 and a RBI.

COLD SPRING ROCKIES 4 RICHMOND ROYALS 1 (5/20/16 @ Cold Spring)

The Rockies topped the Royals of the Stearns County League in a friendly brother matchup between the managers. Veteran Royal Manager vs. Rookie little bother Reece for the Rockies. The Rockies were led by a good pitching performance by Trevor Lardy, he threw a complete game, he scattered 7 hits, walked 3 and he recorded 2 strikeouts. Jordan Neu went 2-3 with a sacrifice bunt and he scored a run and Ryan Bell went 2-4 and he scored a run. Kirby Tebrake went 2-4 and Mason Ruegemer went 1-4 with a RBI. Calvin Kalthoff went 1-4 and he scored a run and Marshall Wirtzfeld went 1-3.

The Royals were led by Kyle Budde, he went 1-3 with a double for a RBI and Dylan Hanson went 2-4. Alex Budde went 1-3, he walked and scored a run and Scott Ruegemer went 1-4.  D. J. Scheicher went 1-4 and Reed Ruegemer went 1-3 and he walked. Dylan Hanson the former Eden Valley Hawk, started on the mound for the Royals and he went 6 innings. Dylan gave up 5 hits, 2 runs and he recorded 3 strikeouts. D. J. Schiecher thew two innings of relief and he gave up 2 hits and he surrendered 2 runs.

COLD SPRING ROCKIES 18 SARTELL STONE PONEYS 9 (5/17/16 @ Cold Spring)

The Rockies were led by a 15 hit attack to defeat the Stone Poneys of Eastern Minny West League, to earn Rookie Play/Manger’s Reece Hemmesch first career win. Tyler McElwee started on the mound, he threw 5 innings to earn the win and Jordan Neu threw 4 innings of relief. Kirby Tebrake had a huge night at the plate, he went 5-6 with a double, he scored 3 runs and he walked. Calvin Kalthoff went 3-5 with a triple and 2 RBI’s, he walked and scored 3 runs. Jordan Neu went 3-5 with 3 RBI’s and he scored 2 runs and Reece Hemmesch went 1-1 with 2 walks, a RBI and he scored a run. David Jonas had a good night, as he went 2-2 with a big 2 run homer and he scored 2 runs. Blake Holbrook went 1-4, 2 walks, 2 runs and he had a stolen base and Marshall Wirzfeld went 1-5 with a RBI and he walked. Jake Hennen went 1-2 with a RBI and he walked and veteran Ryan Bell played his first game of the season, he went 1-5, walked an he scored 2 runs.

The Stone Poneys in their first game of the season were led by Spencer and Austin Timme as they combined for 5 hits. Spencer went 3-5 with walks and he scored a run and Austin went 2-3 with 2 doubles and he scored a run. Sean Tillman got the Poneys on the board early with a 2 run homer, he went 2-5 and he had a stolen base. Jim Gabrielson went 1-2 with a long double for 3 RBI’s and Jeff Amann went 1-3 with 2 RBI’s and he scored a run. Brandon Reinking went 1-4 with a double, walked and he scored a run and Matt Mauer, the former Blaine Fusion player, went 1-4 with a double and a RBI. Jordan Clitty went 1-2, Ted Flemming went 1-5 and he scored a run and Alex O’Leary went 1-4 and he scored a run. Lefty Jeff Amann started on the mound, he went 3 innings and Nathan Nierenhausen threw 2 innings of relief. Matt Mauer threw 2 innings and Brandon Reinking threw 1 inning of relief.

LITCHFIELD BLUES 5 WILLMAR RAILS 0 (5/18/16 @ Litchfield)

The Blues defeated the Rails behind the pitching performance by Jake Schultz, he threw 9 innings,gave up just 2 hits, walked 2 and he recorded 5 strikeouts. Jake Johnson led the Blues on offense, he went 2-4 with 2 RBI’s and Josh Johnson went 2-4. Carson Deal went 2-3 with a double and Toby Chellin went 1-4 with a double, Kal Volinkaty went 1-3 and Cody Beavers went 1-3.

Evan VanDenEinde was the pitcher of record, he started and threw 3 innings; Tim Rogers threw 4 innings of relief and John Glimsdal threw1 inning for the Rails. Tim Rogers went 1-4 and Nick Bergeson went 1-4 for the Rails offense.

FREEPORT BLACK SOX 1 SARTELL MUSKIES 0 (5/20/16 @ Freeport)

The Black Sox may have had their best lineup thus far this season, were led by Eric Eveslage went 2-4 with a RBI and Ryan Tschida went 2-4 with a double. Seth Noll went 2-4 with a stolen base and Carter Sawyer went 1-3, he scored the lone run of the game and he was hit by a pitch. Nate Mettenburg went 1-3 with a sacrifice bun and John Benson went 1-4. Tommy Benson started on the mound for the Black Sox, he threw 5 innings, gave up just 3 hits, walked 2 and he recorded 3 strikeouts. Leon Kirk threw 2 innings of relief to earn the win, he gave up 2 hits, 1 walk and he struck out 2 and Ryan Tschida earned the save with 2 innings of relief, he gave up 2 hits and he recorded 4 big strikeouts.

The Muskies were led by Brian Schellinger as he went 2-3 with a sacrifice bunt. Tim Burns went 1-4 and Dan O’Connell went 1-4. John Schumer went 1-4 and Jace Otto went 1-4 and Adam Wenker earned a walk. Lefty John Schumer started on the mound for the Muskies, he gave up 5 hits, 1 run and he recorded 11 strikeouts. Max Koprek threw 3 innings of relief, he gave up 4 hits and he recorded 3 strikeouts.

COLD SPRING SILVER SPRINGERS 8 ROSCOE RANGERS 2  (5/21/16 @ Cold Spring)

The Silvers Springers (35 and Over) opened their season with a win over Stearns County foe the Rangers. Joe Kounkel led the Silver Springers, as he started on the mound, he threw a complete game (7 Innings), he scattered 6 hits, surrendered no walks and he recorded 8 strikeouts. Joe is a Former Player/currently coach for the Monticello Polecats. The Former Watkins Clipper, Todd Geislinger went 2-2 with 2 RBI’s, he walked and he scored a run. Chad Hess, the current Freeport Black Sox went 3-4 and he scored 2 runs and Greg “Boomer” Bemboom, the former Sauk Rapids Cyclone, went 1-2 with a RBI, 2 walks and he scored 3 runs. Greg “The Cat” Terres the former Luxemburg Brewer, went 1-2 with 2 walks, 2 stolen bases and he scored 1 run. Derek Felde the former Delano Athletic had a RBI and a stolen base, Mike Arnold, a former Kimball Express went 1-1 with a RBI and Brent Schloe, a former St. Joseph Saint had a RBI and he walked.

For the Lakers Tanner Harder was the pitcher of record, he started and he threw 3 innings, Jordan Schleper threw 2 innings and Brandon Schleper threw 1 inning. Brandon Schleper went 1-3 and Josh Mackedanz went 1-2 with a stolen base and he scored a run. Josh Lyendecker wetn 1-3, Chris Vanderbecke went 1-3 and Cody Mackedanz went 1-2 with a double. 

WILLMAR  RAILS 2 ST. NICHOLAS NICKS 1 (5/20/16 @ Willmar)

The Rails of the Corn Belt league topped CVL foe the Nicks in a very well played ball game, they were led by starting pitcher Tanner Thunstedt, he thew a complete game, scattered 7 hits, 1 run, 1 walk and he recorded 10 strikeouts. Cole Hagen went 2-3 with a RBI and Tanner Thunstedt went 2-3.

The Nicks were led by Joe Wehlage, he went 2-4 and Kevin Drontle went 1-3. Kevin Alson was the starting pitcher for the NIcks, he threw 5 innings, he gave up 4 hits, 2 walks, 2 runs and he struck out 3. Victor Schleppenboch threw 3 innings of relief, he gave up 3 hits, walked 1 and he struck out two. 

ATWATER CHUCKERS 11 FARMING FLAMES 3 (5/20/16 @ Atwater)

The Chuckers of the County Line league topped the Flames of the Victory League behind the hitting of Josh Cunningham, he went 2-5 with 2 doubles and he scored 2 runs. Justin Schroeder went 2-2 with a double, 3 RBI’s and a double, Scott Bormann went 2-4 with 2 RBI’s and Jordan Olson went 1-2 with a walk, scored 3 runs and he had 2 RBI’s. Vance Martin was the starting pitcher and the pitcher of record for the Chuckers, Scott Bormann threw 2 innings of relief and Andrew Hadley threw 1 inning.

For the Flames, Aaron Eiynek had a big night, he went- 2-4 with a home run, scored 2 runs, walked twice and 2 RBI’s. Kyle Zierden went 2-4 with a RBI and he scored a run. Aaron Nett started on the mound for the Flames, he went 3 innings, Chad Mergen threw one inning of relief, Brent Mergen threw 3 innings and Zach Koltes threw 1 inning of relief.

NEW LONON-SPICER TWINS 10 LITCHFIELD BLUES 4 (5/20/16 @ Litchfield)

The Blues were led by Jake Schulz complete game on the mound, he gave up just 2 hits, walked 2 and he struck out five. Jake Johnson went 2-4 with 2 RBI’s and Josh Johnson 2-4 with a RBI. Carson Deal went 2-3 with a double and Toby Chellin went 1-4 with a double. Kal Volinkaty went 1-3 and Cody Beavers went 1-3.

For the Twins Jordan Ackerman was the winning pitcher. Ben Kulseth and Jake Rambow were their key leaders on offense, Ben went 3-4 with a RBI and Jake went 2-5. Jordan Ackerman had a good day, he went 2-4, Scott Rambow went2-5 and Jake Soine went 2-5 for the Twins.

FORT RIPLEY REBELS 8 SARTELL STONE PONEYS 0 (5/21/16 @ Sartell)

The Stone Poneys dropped their exhibition game to the Rebels of the Victory league. Jordan Clitty went 1-3 and Timm Spencer went 1-1. Steven Fish was the starting pitcher, threw 3 innings and he was the pitcher of record. Shaun Nierenhausen threw 3 innings of relief, Matt Mauer 1 1/3 innings and Jeff Amann 1 2/3 innings. The score was just 2-0 going into the top of the 6th inning and then the Rebels added 2 runs and 3 more in the 7th.
