KNSI Radio’s Central MN Baseball Round-Up (May 17)

Back for a third season with your weekly amateur baseball (Town Team) baseball reports. The plan is to continue to include: Lakewood League, Central Valley League, Sauk Valley League, Victory League South, Eastern Minny West and Stearns County South teams this season and the upcoming schedule for each league including tournament and exhibition games. In addition the league standings thru out the season.

CENTRAL VALLEY LEAGUE

LUXEMBURG BREWERS 9, PEARL LAKE LAKERS 0 (5/14/16 @ Marty)

The Brewers pounded out 15 hits as they topped CVL rival the Lakers with Colton Fruth and Chase Aleshire having big days at the plate. Colton went 4-6 with a double, for a RBI and he scored and Chase went 3-6 with a double for 2 RBI’s and he scored a run. Player/Manager Cory Wenz went 1-4 with a double for a RBI and he was hit by a pitch. Sam Iten had a good day, as he went 2-5 with a RBI and he walked. Luke Harren, Mr. Steady, went 2-4 with a sacrifice fly for a RBI, he walked twice and he scored 2 runs. Rhett Fruth went 1-3 with 2 walks and he scored 2 runs, Nick Baker went 1-4 with a RBI and he walked and Austin Klaverkamp went 1-4 with a RBI. They had awesome pitcher efforts by Alex Klaverkamp and Mitch Ergen. Alex started and he gave up just 1 hit, 3 walks and he recorded 8 strikeouts to earn the win. Mitch earned the save with 3 innings of relief, he 2 walked 2 and he recorded 4 strikeouts.

For the Lakers, Preston Pegelow got their only hit and Tony Garding was their starting pitcher, he threw 6 innings and he was the pitcher of record.

WATKINS CLIPPERS 8, COLD SRPING ROCKIES 2 (5/15/16 @ Cold Spring)

The Clippers were led by a 14 hit attack and the outstanding pitching performance by Matt Geislinger. Lincoln Haugen had a great day at the plate, he went 4-4 with 3 big RBI’s, a sacrifice fly, stolen base and he scored a run. Kevin Kramer continues to swing a hot bat, he went 3-4 with a double for a RBI, a stolen base and he scored a run. Heath Kramer had a good day at the plate, he went 3-4 and Brian Benson went 1-3 with a RBI, walked and he scored 2 runs. Brendon Ashton went 1-4 with a big 2 run homer to set the tone early in the game. Matt Geislinger went 1-4 and he scored a run, Adam Hiltner went 1-3 and he scored a run and Gary Peters had a sacrifice fly for a RBI. Matt Geislinger started and he went 7 innings, he gave up 3 hits, walked 2, surrendered 1 run and he recorded 14 strikeouts. T. J. Fericks thew 2 innings of relief, he gave up 4 hits, gave up 1 run and he recorded a strikeout.

The Rockies were led by Mason Ruegemer and David Jonas at the plate, Mason went 2-4 with a RBI and he scored 2 runs and David went 2-4 and he scored a run. Jordan Neu went 1-3 with a RBI, Calvin Kalthoff went 1-3 with a walk and he scored and Kevin Wenner walked. Chris Lardy was the Rockies starting pitcher and pitcher of record, he threw 7 innings and Jordan Neu threw 2 innings of relief.

ST. AUGUSTA GUSSIES 12, EDEN VALLEY HAWKS 0 (7 Innings) (5/15/16 @ St. Augusta)

The Gussies topped their CVL rivals the Hawks behind the pitching efforts of Travis Laudenbach. Travis pitched a complete game, he gave up just 2 hits, walked 3 and he recorded 7 strikeouts. Nate Gwost and Dan Swan had good games at the plate, Nate went 3-4 with 2 RBI’s and he scored 2 runs and Dan went 2-3 with 2 RIB’s, he was hit by a pitch and he scored a run. Dustin Schultzenburg went 1-3 with a RBI and he scored and Adam Benoit went 1-1 with a double for 2 RBI’s. Matt Skaja went 1-2 and he scored a run and Shea Rosha went 1-1 and he scored a run. Adam Gwost scored a run, was hit by a pitch and he had a RBI, Marcus Lommel had a sacrifice fly for a RBI and Nate Laudenbach walked and he scored a run.

The Hawks starting pitcher and pitcher of record was Austin Schlangen. Alex Geislinger went 1-3 with a double and Jake Anderson went 1-3 with a double. Jeff Haag, Matt Pennertz and Nathan Geislinger all earned a walk.


KIMBALL EXPRESS 8, PEARL LAKE LAKERS 5 (5/15/16 @ Kimball)

The Express pounded out 14 hits to top their rivals the Lakers. Brian Marquardt had a great day at the plate, he went 4-4 and he scored a run, Brooks Marquardt went 2-4 with a RBI and Scott Marquardt went 1-4, walked and scored a run. Adam Beyer had a very good day at the plate, he went 3-4 with a 2 run homer, he walked and scored 2 runs. Ben Johnson went 2-5 and Jordan Joseph went 1-4 with with a sacrifice fly for 2 RBI’s and he scored a run. Troy Filzen went 1-4 and Austin Ruehle walked, had a stolen base and he scored 2 runs. Zach Dingman started on the mound for the Express, he threw 6 innings, he scattered 6 hits, 3 runs, 1 walk and he recorded 4 strikeouts. Andy Dingman went 1 1/3 innings and Jordan Joseph threw 2/3 of inning, gave up 2 hits and he recorded 2 strikeouts to earn the win. Ben Johnson threw the final inning to earn the save.

For the Lakers Logan Schramel started and was the pitcher of record, he threw 7 1/3 innings. Tommy Linn had a great day at the plate, he went 5-5 with a RBI and he scored a run. Logan Schramel went 1-2, with a 2 run home run, he scored 2 runs and he had a sacrifice bunt. Ryan Wieneke went 1-4 with a RBI and he walked, Andy Lenzmeier went 1-3 with a sacrifice bunt, Derrick Garding went 1-1 with a RBI. Preston Peglow went 1-5 and Mitch Wieneke went 1-5.


LUXEMBURG BREWERS 3, ST. NICHOLAS 1 (5/15/16 @ St. Nicholas)

The Brewers earned their 2nd CVL win over the weekend, behind the pitching performance, a complete game by Sam Iten. Mr. Steady, Luke Harren, went 2-4 with a double, scored 2 runs, walked and he had a stolen base. Colton Fruth and Cory Wenz both had good games at the plate. Colton went 2-4 with a sacrifice bunt and a stolen base and player/manager Cory went 2-5 with a RBI. Chase Aleshire went 1-5 with a RBI, a stolen base and he scored a run. Derrick Orth went 1-3 with a RBI, he walked twice and he had a stolen base, Ethyn Fruth walked twice and Nick Baker earned a walk.

The Nicks had four hits by Jeff Lutgen, Matt Schott, Nate Thielen and Tanner Anderson. Derek Kuechle was the starting pitcher for the Nicks and the pitcher of record, he threw 5 innings.

SAUK VALLEY LEAGUE

SARTELL MUSKIES 9, ST. JOSEPH JOES 1 (5/14/16 @ St. Joseph)

The Muskies were led by the strong pitching efforts by double D (David Deminsky) and Max Koprek. David threw 5 innings to earn the win, he gave up 2 hits, walked 1 and he recorded 9 strikeouts. Max Koprek threw 4 innings to earn the save, he gave up just 1 hit, walked 1 and he record 4 strikeouts. Even on this cold day with the high temperature reaching about 50 degres, the bats were still hot, as the Muskies pounded 14 hits. Luke Sweeter went 4-4 with a double, 2 RBI’s, 1 walk and he scored 3 runs. Jace Otto went 3-4 with 2 RBI’s, sacrifice fly and he scored a run and Cody Partch went 2-4 with 2 RBI’s and he walked. Jake Sweeter went 1-4 with a RBI, walked and he score 2 runs and Tim Burns went 1-5 with a double and he scored a run. Andrew Deters went 2-6 with a double and he scored a run and Rob Voshell went 1-4.

The Joes pitcher of record was Mike Ashwill, he threw 7 innings, gave up 11 hits, 3 walks and he had 1 strikeout. Nate Chandler threw 2 innings of relief, he gave up 3 hits and walked two. Ben Bierschied went 1-3 with a double, walked and he had a stolen base, Ben Alvord went 1-4 and he scored a run and R. J. Alpers went 1-2.

ST. JOSEPH JOES 15, CLEAR LAKE LAKERS 8 (5/15/16 @ Clear Lake)

The Joes got their bats going, as they pounded out 16 hits to topped the Lakers for their first win of the season in the SVL. Ethan Carlson had a huge day at the plate, he went 3-5 with a grand slam for 6 big RBI’s. Joe Stock had a great day too, he went 4-6 with a home run and a double for 2 RBI’s. Ben Biersheid went 2-4 with a double and 2 walks and Zach Overboe went 2-2 with a walk, 2 runs scored and a RBI. Tyler Mueller went 1-3 with a triple for a RBI and he scored a run and Justin Barg went 1-2 with a double for a RBI, he walked and score 2 runs. R. J. Alpers went 1-2 with a RBI and a walk, Eric Vigil went 1-2, 2 walks and he score 3 runs and Greg Anderson went 1-5 with a sacrifice and he score a run. Greg Anderson was the starting pitcher and he earned the win with 4 innings of work. Nathan Mohs threw 1 inning of relief, Eric Vigil threw 2 innings of relief, Cody Darnall threw 1 inning and Zach Overboe threw 1 inning.

The Lakers were led by Jake Samuelson, he went 3-5 with a grand slam and Rich Petty went 2-4 with 2 RBI’s, he walked and he scored a run. Mitch Voight went 1-5 with a double for a RBI and he scored a run and Richard Thompson went 1-5 with a double. Mike Golombiecki went 1-3 with a RBI, he walked and scored 2 runs and Matt Korten went 1-4, he walked and scored a run. Izzy Carper went 1-3 and scored a run and Brandon Buesgens went 1-4 with a walk and a stolen base. Mike Smith was the pitcher of record, he threw 5 innings, Richard Thompson threw 3 innings of relief and Jake Samuelson threw 1 inning.

LAKE HENRY LAKERS 6, ROSCOE RANGERS 5 (5/15/16 @ Lake Henry)

The Lakers defeated their Stearns County rivals the Rangers on a walk off 2 run home run by Josh Kampson. After the Rangers had taken a 1 run lead in the top of the 9th inning on Grant Thompson’s 2 run homer run. Weston Brinkman was the starting pitcher for the Lakers, he threw 7 innings, he scattered 6 hits, walked 4, gave up 2 runs and he recorded 3 strikeouts. Mitchell Wiedner threw 2 innings of relief to earn the win, he gave up 4 hits, 3 runs and he had 1 strikeout. Matt Quade went 2-3 with a home run, scored 2 runs and he had a sacrifice bunt. Shane Kampson went 1-4 with a double, he walked and he scored 2 runs. Josh Kampson went 1-4 with his 2 run home run and he walked and Jason Kampson went 1-3 with a sacrifice fly for a RBI. Weston Brinkman had a good day at the plate too, he went 1-2 with 2 walks and a stolen base.

The Rangers had 8 hits, led by Grant Thompson he went 2-4 with his 2 run homer and he scored twice. Jordan Schleper went with a RBI, Trent Gertken went 2-5 and Nil Dingman went 1-4 with a double for a RBI. Brent Heinen went 1-2 and he scored a run and Jordan Roos walked, scored 2 runs and he had a sacrifice bunt. The starting pitcher for the Lakers was Josh Machedanz, he threw 8 innings, Ross Leyndecker threw in relief and Brent Heinen was the pitcher of record.

RICHMOND ROYALS 3, SPRING HILL CHARGERS 0 (5/15/16 @ Richmond)

The Royals got into the winning column in the Stearns County with a big win over rivals the Chargers. They were led by Andy Bauer’s great pitching performance, he went 6 innings and he recorded 8 strikeouts and Kyle Budde earned the save with 3 innings of relief. Dan Hanson had a big day at the plate, he went 2-4 with 2 doubles and Brent Ruegemer went 2-4 with a RBI. Cole Schmitz had a good day, as he went 2-4 and he scored 2 runs and Dusty Adams went 1-1 and he walked 3 times.

The Chargers were led by Eric Terres, he went 2-4 and Shawn Schoenberg went 2-4 with a stolen base. Austin Schoenberg went 1-4 and Kyle Bertram went 1-4 with a stolen base. Austin Schoenberg was their starting pitcher and the pitcher of record, he scattered 7 hits, surrendered 3 runs, walked 5 and he recorded 5 strikeouts. Brent Terres threw 1 inning of relief, he recorded a strikeout.


FARMING FLAMES 9, ST. MARTIN MARTINS 6 (5/15/16 @ Farming)

The Flames were led by the outstanding pitching performance by Brad Mergen, he threw 7 innings, gave up just 2 hits, 4 walks, 1 run and he recorded 12 strikeouts. Brent Mergen threw 1 2/3 innings off relief and Kyle Zierden earned the save as he recorded a strikeout for the final out of the game. Nick Mergen had a very good game at the plate, he went 3-4 with 2 doubles for 2 RBI’s. Aaron Eiynck went 2-5 with a triple, 2 RBI’s and he scored a run and Brad Mergen went 2-5 with 3 RBI’s. Craig Klein went 1-3 with a 2 run home run, he walked a scored 2 runs and Dylan Panek went 2-3 with a RBI and he scored a run. Mitchel Theilen went 1-4 with a walk and he scored run and Joel Klein went 1-3 and he scored a run.

The Martins starting pitcher and pitcher of record was Jaylyn Acrceneau, he threw 3 2/3 innings. Ben Schroeder threw 5 1/3 innings of relief, he recorded 5 strikeouts. Taylor Holthaus had a big day, he went 3-5 with 2 home runs and a double. Bryan Schlangen went 1-4 with a double, he walked and scored 2 runs. Scott Schlangen went 1-3 with a walk and he scored 2 runs and he was hit by a pitch. Mathew Schlangen went 1-4 and Chris Hennen went 1-1 with 3 walks.

ST. WENDEL SAINTS 2, ST. MATHIAS DEVILS 0 (5/15/16 @ St. Wendel)

The Saints topped Victory league rivals the Devils behind the pitching performance by John Pogatchnik. He thew a complete game, scattered 8 hits and he recorded 11 strikeouts. They were led by Lee Maciej, he went 1-3 and Beau Maciej went 1-3 and he scored a run. Keaton Gustin went 1-4 and John Pogatchnik went 1-5. This win put the Saints on top of the Victory League South standings.

For the Devils Mason Quick was the pitcher of record, he threw all 9 innings, he gave up just 5 hits, 2 runs and he recored 6 strikeouts. Matt Toutges went 3-4, Evan Woltalla went 2-3 and Ted Deher went 1-4.


FREEPORT BLACK SOX 7, CUYUNA RANGE MINERS 6 (5/15/16 @ Crosby)

The Black Sox’s got in the winning column with a win over Victory League rival the Minors, behind their 12 hits attack. Carter Sawyer went 2-4 with double for 2 RBI’s, he scored a run and he was hit by a pitch twice. Troy Frieler went went 2-4 with a RBI, he scored a run and he was hit by a pitch and Ryan Tschida went 2-4 with a RBI and he had a sacrifice. Nate Mettenburg went 1-4 with a double, hit by a pitch and he scored 2 runs and Ike Sawyer went 1-2 with 3 walks, a sacrifice fly and 2 RBI’s. John Benson went 2-5 with 2 RBI’s, Chad Hess went 1-4 with a sacrifice, Eric Evaslage went 1-5 and he scored and Tommy Benson had 2 walks and he scored a run. Mitch Reller started and went 7 innings, he surrendered 6 runs, 7 hits, 7 walks and he recorded 7 strikeouts. Carter Sawyer earned the win with 2 innings of relief, he have up a hit, 1 walk and he recorded a strikeout.

For the Minors Jamie Stall was the pitcher of record, he threw 7 2/3 innings. Jake Zontelli led the Minor offense, he went 2-3 with 2 doubles, he walked, scored a run and was hit by a pitch. Lance Herbst went 2-3 with a triple, 2 RBI’s, 2 walks and a stolen base. Bryan Syrstad went 1-5 with a RBI, Hunter Leslie went 1-4 with a walk, Jamie Stoll went 1-4 and Dillon Solid went 1-3 with 2 walks and he score 2 runs.

AITKIN STEAM 14, HOLDINGFORD EXPRESS 4 (5/15/16 @ Holdingford)

The Steam topped the Express behind the pitching of Jaron Brezinsky he threw 5 innings to earn the win and Jake Lynn threw 4 innings of relief to earned the save. Nathan Ehnstrom went 3-6 with 5 RBI’s and Brian Burman went 3-5 with 2 doubles for a RBI, walked and he scored 2 runs. Logan Quade went 2-3 and he scored 2 runs and Austin Krahn went 1-6 with a RBI. Jaron Brezinsky went 1-3 and he scored 2 runs, Dean Lynn went 1-5 and Jake Lynn scored a run, RBI and he was hit by a pitch.

The Express starting pitcher Derek Thielen was the the pitcher of record, he threw 4 innings, Brandon Hellman threw 2 innings and Ryan Szymanski threw 2 innings. Ian Hoffarth went 2-4 with a RBI and he walked and Ryan Szymanski went 2-4 with a RBI. Derek Thielen went 1-3, walked and scored a run and Travis Theilen went 1-2 and he was hit by a pitch twice. Jake Klein walked, scored a run and he earned a RBI, Austin Gerards walked 3 times and he scored a run and Derek Beniek walked and scored a run.

FORT RIPLEY REBELS 5, ST STEPHEN STEVES 1 (5/15/16 @ Fort Ripley)

The Steves dropped their game to the Rebels, Nick Krippner was the pitcher of record he started and he went 7 2/3 innings. Blake Guggenberger went 2-4 with a RBI and Nick Krippner went 1-4. Sam Nesser went 1-3 with a walk and he scored a run and Austin Guggenberger went 1-4.

The Rebels were led by Logan Kalis, he went 2-4 with a double and he scored a run and Brian Skluzacek went 2-4 with a double for a RBI and he scored a run. Bill Sather went 1-4 with a double and a RBI and Ray Austin went 1-3 with a RBI. Jason Sather went 1-3 with 2 RBI’s, walked and scored a run.

NISSWA LIGHTING 14, AVON LAKERS 3 (7 Innings) (5/15/16 @ Nisswa)

The Lighting showed why they are one of the top ranked Class C teams as they pounded out 11 hits and they hit two home runs. Aaron Jenkins went 2-4 with a 3 run home run, he walked and he 4 RBI’s. Logan McElfres went 2-4 with a 2 run home run, he scored 2 runs and he had 3 RBI’s. Luke Schumer went 2-3 with a RBI, 2 walks and he scored 2 run and Jason Roepke went 3-5 with 2 RBI’s and he scored a run. Drew Boland went 1-3 with a RBI, scored 2 runs and he walked and Paul Jenkins went 1-3 with a RBI, he walked and scored a run. Scott Sand was the starting pitcher for the Lighting, he went 6 innings to earn the win and Jason Roepke threw 1 inning of relief.

The Lakers had 6 hits, led by Adam Harlander, he went 2-3 and Caleb Curry went 1-3 with a RBI. Carter Holthaus went 1-3 and he scored a run, Rick Henderson went 1-3 and Zac Tomsche went 1-3 with a RBI.

COLD SPRING SPRINGERS 12, COLD SPRING ROCKIES 4 (5/14/16)

The Springers beat their in town rivals the Rockies behind a quad of pitchers. Zach Femrite started and he threw 3 innings, gave up 3 hits, 1 walk and he recorded 8 strikeouts. Big right hander Mathias Butala threw 1 inning of relief, after not pitching for a couple of seasons. Chris Butala threw 2 innings of relief to earn the win, he gave up 2 hits, hit one batter and he had 1 strikeout. Jack Arnold threw 3 innings of relief to earn a save, he gave up 1 hit, 1 walk and he record 2 strikeouts. Alex Jungels had a great game, going 3-6 with a 2 run home run, a double and he walked. Brian Hanson went 3-6 with a RBI, stolen base and he scored a run. Brad Olson went 4-5 and he scored 2 runs and Ryan Holthaus went 1-4 with a double, 1 RBI and he scored 2 runs. Eric Loxtercamp went 2-6 with a double and 3 big RBI’s and he scored 2 runs. Garrett Fuchs went 2-4 with a double and he scored a run and Zach Femrite went 1-1 with a RBI, walk and he scored a run. Drew VanLoy went 1-3 with a long towering home run that went about 370 feet, he walked and scored a run. Nate Hinkemeyer went 1-2, sophomore Drew Bulson went 1-2 and Zach Hinkemeyer walked, had a stolen base and he scored a run.

The Rockies offense was led by Kevin Wenner, he went 3-4 and Mason Ruegmer went 2-2 with a double and he scored a run. Jordan Neu went 1-4 and scored a run, Mike Holbrook went 1-3, walked and scored. Blake Holbrook went 1-2 and David Jonas went 1-4 with a walk and he scored a run. Calvin Kalthoff had a sacrifice fly for a RBI, Marshall Wirstzfeld had a RBI and Reese Hemmesch walked. Trevor Lardy was the starting pitcher for the Rockies and the pitcher of record, he threw 4 innings and Calvin Kalthoff threw 5 innings of relief.

SARTELL MUSKIES 10, MAPLE LAKE LAKERS 1 (5/15/16 @ Maple Lake)

The Muskies topped one of the topped ranked Class C teams in the state, the Lakers behind good pitching efforts by Adam Wenker and John Schumer. Adam started and he went 5 1/3 innings, he scattered 5 hits, walked 2 and he recorded 3 strikeouts. Lefty John went 3 2/3 innings, gave up 3 hits and he recored 3 strikeouts. Jake Sweeter set the tone with a big 3 run home run early in the game. Andrew Deters had a great game, as he went 4-5 with a double, 1 RBI and he scored 3 runs. Tim Burns went 2-3 with a double for 3 RBI’s, walked twice and he scored a run. Luke Sweeter went 1-4 with a RBI and he walked and Brian Schellinger went 1-3 with sacrifice bunt and he scored a run. Dan O’Connell went 1-4 and he scored a run, Jonah Nebosis went 1-3 with a sacrifice bunt and he scored a run and Cody Partch walked and he scored a run.

The Lakers pitcher of record was their starter, Jeremy Schmidt. Luke Fobbe went 2-5, Graham Brown went 1-4, Matt Bergstrom went 1-3 and Robbie Decker went 1-3

RAYMOND ROCKETS 19, LITCHFIELD BLUES (7 Innings) (5/13/16 @ Litchfield)

The Blues used four pitchers against the Rockets but they could not slow their bats down. Jake Johnson went 1-3 with a RBI, Derek Koll went 1-2 and Dan Oster went 1-3. Cody Beavens went 1-2 and Dylan Kotzer 1-2 for the Blues.

The pitcher of record for the Rockets was Herman Soloman. Mike Jeseritz had a Grand Slam and Kyle Knott has a 2 run homer. Jordan Smith had 2 RBI’s and he scored 4 runs and Brandon Wedel went 2-4 with a 2 run home run. Austin Smith went 2-4 with 2 RBI’s and Cal Kosminkas went 3-3 with a RBI. The Rockets may be the favorites in the Corn Belt League.


BIRD ISLAND BULLFROGS 21, LITCHFIELD BLUES 9 (5/14/16 @ Litchfield)

Jesse Bjur was the pitcher of record for the Bullfrogs, they were led by Lan Stadther and Dylan Gass both went 3-4. Tyler Hebrink went 2-2 and Shawn Dollerschell went 1-2 with a double.

Ross Wendlandt was the pitcher of record for the Blues. The Blues did put up some good numbers on offense, with Dylan Koll going 4-4 with a double and 2 RBI’s.
