KNSI Radio’s Central MN Baseball Round-Up (May 10)

Back for a third season with your weekly amateur baseball (Town Team) baseball reports. The plan is to continue to include: Lakewood League, Central Valley League, Sauk Valley League, Victory League South, Eastern Minny West and Stearns County South teams this season and the upcoming schedule for each league including tournament and exhibition games. In addition the league standings thru out the season.

CENTRAL VALLEY LEAGUE

KIMBALL EXPRESS 6, ST. AUGUSTA GUSSIES 2 (5/7/16 @ St. Augusta)

The Express by was led by the pitching performances of Zach Dingmann and Jordan Joseph. Zach threw 7 innings, he gave 2 hits, 1 run, 2 walks and he recorded 2 strikeouts. Jordan threw 2 innings, he gave up 3 hits, 1 run, 2 walks and he had 2 strikeouts to earn the save. Brooks Marquardt had a big day, he went 2-5 with a double, 1 RBI, stolen base and he scored a run. Jordan Joseph went 2-5 with a RBI and he scored a run and Adam Beyer went 1-5 with 2 RBI’s. Ben Johnson went 1-3, with a double, scored a run, stolen base, he was hit by a pitch and he had a RBI. Joey VonWahlde went 1-4 with a RBI and Austin Ruehle went 1-5 and he scored a run. Matt Dingmann had a sacrifice bunt, Scott Marquardt and Kyle Winter both scored runs.

Travis Laudenbach threw 8 2/3 innings, he scattered 8 hits, 6 runs, 3 were earned, walked 3 and he recorded 3 strikeouts. Adam Gwost went 2-4 with a double and he scored a run and Nate Gwost went 1-4 with 2 RBI’s. Aaron Fruth went 1-3 with a walk, Logan Aleshire went 1-2 with 2 walks. Sam Matchinsky score a run, Dusty Schultzenberg had a stolen base and Matt Skaja walked.


WATKINS CLIPPERS 10, PEARL LAKE LAKERS 0 (7 Innings) (5/8/16 @ Watkins)

The Clippers defeated their CVL rival the Lakers 10-0 behind the outstanding pitching performance by Matt Geislinger. He threw 6 innings, scattered 4 hits, 2 walks and he recorded 8 strikeouts to earn the win. Heath Kramer closed it out with 1 inning of relief, he walked 1 and he had 1 strikeout. Kevin Kramer had an awesome day as he went 3-4 with a triple, 1 RBI and he scored a run. Lincoln Haugen had his best game of the season, thus far, he went 3-4 with double, 1 RBI and he scored run. Lefty Dan Berg went 2-3 with a RBI, he walked and scored 2 runs. Matt Geislinger went 2-4 with 2 RBI’s and Adam Hiltner went 2-3 with a walk. Brendan Ashton had a good day, went 1-2, scored 2 runs, walked and a double for 2 RBI’s. Rob Doboszinski went 1-4 and he scored a run, Heath Kramer had a RBI and Travis Linn walked and he had a RBI.

Steve Krippner went 2-3 with a double and Mitch Wieneke went 1-4 for the Lakers. Ryan Wienke went 1-2 with a walk, Tommy Linn walked and Andy Linn walked.


KIMBALL EXPRESS 6, ST. NICHOLAS NICKS 2 (5/8/16 @ Kimball)

The Express was led by the pitching performances of Joey VonWahlde and Andy Dingmann. Joey threw 6 innings, he gave up just 1 hit, 1 run, 2 walks and he had 4 strikeouts to earn the win. Andy threw 3 innings, gave up 2 hits and he recorded 5 strikeouts to earn the save. Adam Beyer had a good day, as he went 2-4 with 2 run home run and Scott Marquardt went 1-4 with 2 RBI’s and a stolen base. Ben Johnson went 1-4 with double and a RBI and Kyle Winter went 1-3 with a RBI and he scored a run. Jordan Joseph went 2-4 with a double and he scored a run and Austin Ruehle went 1-4 and he scored a run.

The starting pitcher Travis Hanson, went 6 innings, scattered 8 hits, and he recorded 4 strikeouts, was the pitcher of record. Derek Kuechle threw 2 innings of relief to close it out for the Nicks. Tanner Anderson went 1-4 with a RBI, Cory Grafft went 1-3 and Matt Schott went 1-1. Travis Hanson and Derek Kuechle both earned walks for the Nicks.


ST. AUGUSTA GUSSIES 8, COLD SPRING ROCKIES 7 (5/8/16 @ St. Augusta)

The Gussies topped CVL rivals, the Rockies 8-7, they scored 5 runs in the bottom of the 9th inning to overcome a 7-3 deficit. A bases load double by Nate Loudenbach, drove in 2 runs was a big hit, to set up the big blow of the game. Adam Gwost stepped up to the plate with runners at 2nd and 3rd. On the first pitch he hit a towering drive of 380 feet plus into the trees, for a 3 run walk off home run. Adam was 3-4 on the day with his 3 run homer and a total of 4 RBI’s on the day. Nate Laudenbach went 3-5 with a double and a home run for 3 big RBI’s. Dustin Schultzenberg had a great day, he went 3-5 with a double and he scored a run and Marcus Lommel went 2-4, walked and scored 3 runs. Aaron Fruth went 1-4 and Nate Gwost went 1-4 for the Gussies. Dan Swan earned the the win with 1 2/3 innings of relief, he gave up 1 hit, 1 run and 1 walk. Aaron Fruth started and he went 4 innings and Nate Laudenbach threw 3 1/3 innings of relief.

The Rockies pounded out 16 hits on the day, led by Jake Hennen, he went 3-5 with a double and a home run and 2 RBI’s. Kevin Wenner went 3-4 with a double, 2 walks, scored 1 run and 4 stolen bases. Kirby Tebrake went 2-4 with 2 RBI’s and he walked and Calvin Kalthoff went 3-5 with a walk and he scored 3 runs. Mason Ruegemer went 2-5 with a RBI, Jordan Neu went 2-4 with a RBI and Mike Holbrook went 1-5. Chris Lardy was the pitcher of record for the Rockies, as he threw all 9 innings.


LUXEMBURG BREWERS 10, EDEN VALLEY HAWKS 0 (7 Innings) (5/8/16 @ Luxemburg)

The Brewers topped CVL rivals the Hawks 10-0 behind he pitching performance of Austin Klaverkamp. Austin threw 7 innings, gave up 2 hits and he recorded 11 strikeouts and he went 2-2, scored 2 runs and he walked. Chase Aleshire had a good day, going 1-3 with a 2 run home run and Cory Wentz went 1-2 with 3 big RBI’s. Luke Harren went 1-3 with a home run and he walked and Colton Fruth went 2-3, he scored 2 runs and a walk. Sam Iten went 1-4 with a double, Ethyn Fruth has a RBI and Derrick Orth scored a run.

For the Hawks Nathan Geislinger was the pitcher of record and Alex Geislinger went 2-3 to lead the Hawks offense. Matthew Pennertz, Tanner Olean, Josh Schumacher and Zach Schlangen all had singles.

SARTELL MUSKIES 10, CLEAR LAKE LAKERS 0 (8 Innings) (5/8/16 @ Clear Lake)

The Muskies defeated the Sauk Valley rivals, the Lakers 10-0, behind the outstanding pitching by lefty David Deminsky. David threw 5 innings, he gave up 2 hits, 1 walk and he recorded 14 strikeouts to earn the win. Travis Weaver threw 3 innings to earn the save, he recorded 5 strikeouts. Luke Sweeter had a big day, as he went 3-5 with a double and 4 RBI’s and Tim Burns went 2-3 with a double and a triple for 2 RBI’s, he walked and scored a run. Brain Schellinger went 3-5 and he scored 3 runs and Dan O’Connell went 3-4 with a RBI. Jonah Neboses went 2-4 with a stolen base and Jace Otto went 2-5 and he scored a run. Jake Sweeter went 2-5 with a RBI and he scored a run and Cody Partch went 1-5.

The Lakers had 3 hits, Brandon Buesgens went 1-3 with a double, Matt Korte went 1-2 with a walk and Richard Thompson went 1-3. Mike Smith was the pitcher of record, he threw 5 innings, surrendered 8 hits, walked 1 and he had 3 strikeouts. Matt Korte threw 2 innings of relief, he gave up 4 hits, 4 runs and he had 1 strikeout and Brandon Buesgens threw 1 inning of relief.


LITCHFIELD BLUES 4, ST. JOSEPH JOES 0 (5/8/16 @ Litchfield)

The Blues defeated Sauk Valley rivals, the Joes 4-0, behind the strong pitching effort by Kaleb Kalkbrenner. He threw all 9 innings, for a complete game, he gave up just 2 hits, walked 3 and he recorded 3 strikeouts. Kal Volinkaty went 2-4 with 2RBI’s to lead the Blues offense. Dylan Hotzer went 1-3, Jake Schultz went 1-4 and Toby Chellin went 1-4. Jake Jones went 1-3, Jack Johnson went 1-3, Carson Deal went 1-5 and Stephen Pennertz went 1-1.

The Joes had a pair of singles by Ben Bierscheid and Ethan Carlson. Greg Anderson was the pitcher of record for the Joes, he threw 7 innings, scattered 6 hits, walked 4, gave up 4 runs and he had 1 strikeout. Mike Ashwill threw 1 inning of relief, surrendered 3 hits and he walked one.

ST. MARTIN MARTINS 6, ELROSA SAINTS 3 (5/8/16 @ Elrosa)

The Martins topped the Stearns county rival the Saints 6-3, behind a trio of pitchers, Jaylyn Arceneau, Ben Schroeder and Scott Schlangen. Jaylyn started and he went 3 innings, gave up 2 hits, 2 runs, 1 walk and he had 1 strikeout. Ben threw 5 innings of relief, he gave up 4 hits, 1 run, 2 walks and he recorded 4 strikeouts to earn the win. Scott 
threw inning of relief, gave up 1 hit and a walk to earn the save. Bryan Schlangen went 3-4 with a double, he walked and scored a run. Michael Schlangen went 1-3 with 2 big RBI’s, a stolen base and 2 sacrifice bunts. Jordan Moscho went 1-5 with a RBI and he scored a run and Taylor Holthaus went 1-5 with 2 RBI’s. Austin Arceneau went 1-3 and scored a run, Chas Hennen went 1-3, walked, scored a run and he had a sacrifice bunt. Scott Schlangen went 1-5 and scored a run, Matthew Schlangen went 1-4 and scored a run and Josh Stenlger had a sacrifice bunt for a RBI.

The Saints pitcher of record was Ethan Voigt, he threw 6 innings, gave up 7 hits, 3 runs and he recorded 12 strikeouts. Austin Hadley threw 3 innings of relief, he gave up 3 hits, 3 runs, 2 walks and he recorded 2 strikeouts. Cody Eichens went 2-4 with a double and a RBI and Ethan Voigt went 1-4 with a RBI and he scored a run. Matt Schmitz went with a RBI and Kevin Kuefler went 1-5, he had a stolen base and he scored a run. Austin Haldley went 1-3 and Brady Weller went 1-3 and he scored a run.

LAKE HENRY LAKERS 9, RICHMOND ROYALS 1 (5/8/16 @ Richmond)

The Lakers were led by the hitting of the Josh Kampsen, he went 5-5 with 3 doubles for 3 RBI’s. Weston Brinkman had a good day at the plate, he went 2-5 with a double and 2 big RBI’s and he scored a run. Mitch Weidner went 1-4 with a double and 2 RBI’s and Ryan Wuertz went 1-3 with a RBI. Caleb Burris went 1-5 with a stolen base and a RBI and Jason Kampsen went 1-3, walked 2 times and he scored a run. Nic Reiman went 1-1, Matt Quade walked and scored a run and Shane Kampsen scored a run. Lefty Weston Brinkman started on the mound for the Lakers, he threw 7 innings, gave up 2 hits, 1 run, 1 walk and he recorded 5 strikeouts to earn the win. Jason Kampsen threw 2 innings to close it out, he gave up a hit and he recorded 1 strikeout.

The starting pitcher for the Rockies and the pitcher of record was Dan Hanson. He threw 5 1/3 innings, gave up 5 hits, 5 runs, 1 walk and he had 2 strikeouts. Andy Bauer threw 2 2/3 innings of relief, he gave up 4 its 3 runs, 1 walk and he recorded 4 strikeouts. Blaine Athman thew 1 inning of relief, he gave up 3 hits, 1 run, 1 walk and he had a strikeout. Cole Schmitz provided most of the Royals offense, as he went 2-4 with a home run. Dusty Adams went 1-4 with a double and Adam Backes earned a walk.


FARMING FLAMES 5, ROSCOE RANGERS 2 (5/8/16 @ Roscoe)

The Flames were led by their starting pitcher, Brad Mergen, he threw 7 innings, gave up 3 hits, 4 walks, 2 runs and he recorded 11 strikeouts. Brent Mergen threw 2 innings, he walked 2 and he recorded 5 strikeouts. Brad Mergen went 2-4 with a RBI and Aaron Nett went 2-3 with a double and a walk. Mitchell Thelen went 2-5, Aaron Eiynck went 1-5 with a double and Craig Klein went 1-3 with a double, stolen base and he scored run and Nick Mergen walked and he scored a run.

For the Rangers Nick Dingman went 1-4, Brent Heinen went 1-3 with a RBI and Brandon Schleper went 1-4 with a RBI and he scored a run. Josh Mackendanz was the pitcher of record, he started and threw 4 2/3 innings and Russ Lyndecker threw 4 1/3, he gave up 3 its and record 4 strikeouts.

ST. WENDEL SAINTS 7, FREEPORT BLACK SOX 2 (5/7/16 @ Freeport)

The Saints defeated Victory League south rival the Black Sox 7-2, behind the outstanding pitching efforts by Kyle Jarnot. He threw 7 1/3 innings, he gave up 3 hits, 4 walks, 1 run and he hit two batters. He recorded 10 strikeouts, including 8 in a row at one point. Max Posch threw 1 2/3 innings to close it out for the Saints. Keaton Gustin went 2-5 with a double and 2 big RBI’s and Ryan Bloomer went 2-4 with a RBI, a stolen base and he scored a run. Jake Braegelmann went 3-5 with a RBI, stolen base and he scored a run and Taylor Nitz went 2-5 with a double and he scored a run. Lee Maciej went 2-5 with a RBI, Trevor VanHeel went 1-4 with a RBI and he scored 2 runs and Max Posch went 1-5, scored a run and he had a stolen base.

The Sox’s got on the score board with Eric Evaslage’s 2 run home run. Ike Sawyer went 2-2, Seth Noll went 1-5, Carter Sawyer scored a run and was hit by a pitch 2 times and Ryan Tschida walked 2 times. Carter Sawyer was the starting pitcher for the Black Sox, he threw 7 innings and he was the pitcher of record. Craig Meyer threw 1 inning of relief and Rob Mettenburg threw 1 perfect inning of relief.


AVON LAKERS 8, ST. MATHIAS DEVILS 2 (5/8 St. Mathias)

The Lakers topped Victory league rival the Devils 8-2 behind the pitching efforts of four pitchers. Putter Harlander threw 3 innings to earn the win, Troy Wunderlich threw 2 innings, he recorded 3 strikeouts, Adam Harlander threw 2 innings of relief and Shane Olmsheid thew 2 innings of relief. Three home runs by the Lakers led their offense for the day, Caleb Curry went 1-4 with a 2 run homer, Riley Voit went 1-4 with a 2 run homer and Reed Voit went 1-3 with a 2 run homer for a total of 6 RBI’s. Matt Meyer went 1-3 and he scored a run and Adam Harlander went 1-3 and he walked.

The Devils collected four hits, a pair of hits by Matt Tautges, he went 1-2 and scored 2 runs, Teddy Dehler went 1-3 and Josh Boser had 2 RBI’s. Justin Eschenbacker started and he threw 6 innings, was the pitcher of record for the Devils.


ST. STEPHEN STEVES 8, HOLDINGFORD EXPRESS 2 (5/8/16 @ St. Stephen)

The Steves were led by Austin Guggenberger’s grand slam for for big RBI’s and play/manager Ben Omann went 2-4 with a double and a RBI. Brandon Waldvogel went 1-4 with 2 RBI’s and a stolen base and Sam Neeser went 1-4 with a double, he walked and he scored 2 runs. Troy Monson had a great day, he went 3-4 and he scored a run and Dylan Hollenkamp went 1-3 with a stolen base. T. J. Bevens went 1-3, Bo Schmitz walked, had a stolen base and he scored and Alex Wolhart walked and had a stolen base.

The pitcher of record for the Express was Ryan Szymanski, he started and he threw 5 1/3 innings and Brandon Hellman threw 2 2/3 innings of relief. Derek Thielen went 1-4 with a 2 run homer and Ian Hoffarth went 1-4. Austin Gerards went 1-3, he walked and scored, Brandon Hellman went 1-2. Jon Springer went 1-3 and Matt Maciej went 1-1.

ST. JOSEPH JOES 10, ST. AUGUSTA GUSSIES 8 (5/5/16 @ St. Augusta)

The Joes of the Sauk Valley League topped the Gussies of the Central Valley League in exhibition action. Nathan Mohs was the starting pitcher for the Joes, he threw 3 2/3 innings to earn the win. Nathan Chandler threw 2 1/3 innings of relief and Eric Virgil closed it out with 1 inning of relief to earn the save. Ben Berschied had a good night, he went 2-4 with 2 RBI’s, a stolen base and he scored a run. Willie Willats went 1-3 with a RBI, he walked and scored a run. Zach Overboe went 1-4 with a RBI, he had a stolen base and he scored run. Eric Vigil walked, scored a run and he had a RBI andTyler Mueller walked twice, he had a stolen base, scored a run and a RBI. Ethan Carlson went 1-4 and he scored a run, Ben Alvord walked and scored a run and Joe Lenerud walked and he was hit by a pitch twice.

The Gussies used four pitchers, the starter Adam Boniot was the pitcher of record. Tanner Toejnes threw 3 innings of relief and Zach Laudenbach threw one inning of relief and Sam Matchinsky threw 2 innings of relief. Dustin Schultzetenberg had a very good night as he went 3-3, he walked scored 2 runs and he had a stolen base. Nathan Laudenbach went 2-3 with a RBI and he scored a run and Shea Rosha went 1-2 with RBI, he walked 2 times and he scored 2 runs. Mitch Gwost went 1-4 with a double, 1 RBI and he scored. Aaron Fruth went 1-4 with a RBI and Marcus Lommel went 1-2 with a stolen base. 

MILROY YANKEES 5, LUXEMBURG BREWERS 3 (5/7/16 @ Luxemburg)

The Yankees had one big inning at the plate and they played solid defense to defeat the Brewers. Austin Deutz was their starting pitcher, he threw 6 innings to earn the win and Matt Bauer threw 3 innings of relief to earn the save. Matt Bauer led the Yankees offense, he went 3-5, Nolan Schafer went 2-5 with a double and Brayden Kvistero went 2-4 with a walk.

The starting pitcher for the Brewers, Luke Harren had four good innings and then he ran into some trouble in the 5th inning, Luke was the pitcher of record. Nick Baker threw 1 1/3 innings of effective relief and John Fish threw 3 good innings of relief to close the game out. Derek Orth went 2-5 with a double and he scored a run and Chase Alsehire went 1-5 and he scored a run. Austin Klaverkamp went 1-4, he walked and scored a run and Colton Fruth went 1-4. Nick Baker went 1-2, John Fish went 1-2 and Mitch Ergen went 1-4.

COKATO KERNELS 13, LITCHFIELD BLUES 11 (5/6/16 @ Litchfield)

The Kernals had a big 1st inning and the Blues were not able to recover from the inning. Steve Schmidt was the winning pitcher for the Kernals. Nick Main went 2-5 with a double and 2 RBI’s and Luke Nelson went 2-4 with 2 RBI’s. Billy Aho went 2-6 with 2 RBI’s, Abel West went 2-4 with a RBI and Isaac Nelson 2-6 with a RBI.

The Blues did pound out 13 hits with Carson Deal being one of their leaders, he went 2-2, with a double and a triple for 2 RBI’s. Stephen Pennertz went 3-4 and Derek Koll went 2-5 with a RBI. Dylan Kotzer went 2-3 and David Pennertz went 2-4. Dylan went 2-4 and Yayden Lien went 1-4. Mike Hicks was the pitcher of record for the Blues, Dylan Koll threw 2 inning of relief. Dylan Kotzer went 3 innings, he had 5 strikeouts and Kal Volinkaty threw 1 inning of relief.


HOWARD LAKE ORPHANS 16, WATKINS CLIPPERS 4 (5/6/16 @ Watkins)

The Orphans put up several runs early to down the Clippers in 7 innings. Danny Berg Was the pitcher of record for the Clippers, he threw 4 2/3 innings and Dustin Kramer threw 2 1/3 innings of relief. Kevin Kramer led the Clippers at the plate, he went 2-3 with a double and 2 RBI’s. Dan Berg went 1-2 with a double, Gary Peters went 1-2 and Adam Hiltner in his first action this spring, he walked and he scored a run. Lincoln Haugen earned a walk and Rob Doboszinski, walked and he scored 3 runs.

For the Orphans Jared Koch started on the mound and he threw 5 innings to earn the win, he gave up 3 hits and he recorded 9 strikeouts. Brett Ahsenmocker had 4 hits, Steve Boger had 3 hits and Matt Donavan had a solo home run. Adam Koch had a grand slam for 4 big RBI’s.
