LOCAL BASEBALL ROUNDUP

Back for a third season with your weekly amateur baseball (Town Team) baseball reports. The plan is to continue to include: Lakewood League, Central Valley League, Sauk Valley League, Victory League South, Eastern Minney West and Stearns County South teams this season and the upcoming schedule for each league including tournament and exhibition games. WATKINS CLIPPERS 3 COLD SPRING ROCKIES 0 (6/19/16 @ WATKINS)

The Clippers topped their Central Valley League rivals the Rockies, behind the pitching performances by a pair of lefties. Matt Geislinger and Dan Berg combined for a shut out over the Rockies. Matt threw 7 innings, he gave up 1 hit, walked 1 and he recorded 10 strikeouts. Dan threw 2 innings of relief to earn the save, he gave up 2 hits, no walks and he recorded 1 strikeout. Both Lincoln Haugen and Kevin Kramer had big games at the plate, Lincoln went 2-4 with 2 doubles for a RBI and he scored a run. Kevin went 3-4, he scored a run and he had a stolen base. Adam Hiltner went 1-2, with a walk, stolen base and he scored a run. Matt Geislinger and Dan Berg both went 1-3 and Brian Benson earned a walk.

For the Rockies, Trevor Lardy started on the mound, he scattered 8 hits, 1 walk and he recorded 2 strikeouts. Trevor threw a very good game, he threw the complete game. Jordan Neu went 1-4 with a double, Kevin Wenner went 1-3 with a walk and Jake Hennen went 1-3 with a walk.

ST. AUGUSTA GUSSIES 9 EDEN VALLEY HAWKS 5 (6/19/16 @ Eden Valley)

The Gussies topped their Central Valley League foes the Hawks, behind the pitching of the Laudenbach’s and a 14s hit attack. Travis Laudenbach started on the mound, he threw 7 innings, scattered 9 hits, walked 3, surrendered 5 runs and he had 3 strikeouts. Nate Laudenbach threw the final 2 innings in relief, he gave up 1 hit and one walk. Adam Gwost had a big day at the plate, he went 3-5 with a double for a RBI and he scored a run. Dustin Schutlzenburg went 3-6 with a double, a stolen base and he scored 2 runs and Marcus Lommel went 2-6 with 3 big RBI’s and he scored a run. Nate Gwost went 1-5 with a double and 2 RBI’s and he scored a run and Nate Laudenbach went 1-2 with 3 walks, a stolen base and he scored a run. Dan Swan went 1-4 with a RBI and he walked, Brady Grafft went 1-4 with a walk and he scored 2 runs. Matt Skaja went 1-2 with 2 walks and he scored a run and Shea Roska went 1-1 with a stolen base.

For the Hawks, Tanner Olean started on the mound, he went 5 innings and he was the pitcher of record. Austin Schlangen threw 2 innings of relief, he gave up 1 hit, 4 walks and he had 3 strikeouts and Alex Geislinger threw 2 innings of relief, he gave up 2 hits.  Alex Geislinger went 4-5 at the plate, he had 2 doubles and a triple for one RBI and he scored 3 runs. Jeff Haag had a big day at the plate, he went 3-4 with home run for 3 RBI’s, he walked and he scored a run. Dan Sargent went 1-5 with a double and he scored a run, Matt Underberg went 2-4 and Matthew Pennertz had a RBI.

LUXEMBURG BREWERS 2  ST. NICHOLAS NICKS 1  (10 Innings) (6/19/16 @ Luxemburg)

The Brewers topped their Central Valley league foes the Nicks, backed by Austin Klaverkamp pitching performance. He threw 10 innings, he gave up just 4 hits, walked 3, surrendered 1 run and he recorded 9 strikeouts. The Brewers were behind, going into the 9th inning, when they scored the tying run, with 2 outs in the inning. The Brewers loaded the bases in the 10th inning and Derrick Orth’s sacrifice fly drove in the winning run, Player/Manager Cory Wenz scored the winning run. Nick Baker went 1-4, Chase Aleshire went 1-4 and Austin Klaverkamp went 2-4. Colton Fruth went 1-2 with a double and he walked and Isaac Matchinsky earned a walk.

For the Nicks, Travis Hanson started on the mound and he went the distance, 9 2/3 innings. He gave up 6 hits, 3 walks and he recorded 4 strikeouts. Travis Hanson went 2-5 with a stolen base and he scored. Robert Lutgen went 1-4 with a stolen base and Tanner Anderson went 1-4 with a double. Matt Schott went 1-3 with a walk, Jeff Lutgen earned a walk and Derek Kuechle earned a walk.

PEARL LAKE LAKERS 7 KIMBALL EXPRESS 3 (6/19/16 @ Marty)

The Lakers defeated their Central Valley League rivals the Express, led by Logan Schramel. He started on the mound for the Lakers, he threw 6 1/3 innings to earn the win, he gave up 8 hits, 3 runs, 2 walks and he had 6 strikeouts. Justin Kunkel earned the save in relief, he threw 2 2/3 innings of relief, he gave up 2 hits, 1 walk and he had 3 strikeouts.

Logan Schramel led the Lakers at the plate, he went 3-4 with 3 big RBI’s, he walked and scored a run. Justin Kunkel went 2-5 with a double and he scored a run and Steve Krippner went 2-4 with 2 doubles for a RBI, he walked and he scored a run. Derrick Garding went 1-4 with 2 RBI’s and Jack Schramel went 1-4. Mitch Wieneke had a sacifice bunt and a stolen base and Tommy Linn earned a walk.

For the Express, Matt Dingmann was the pitcher of record, he started and he went 5 innings. He gave up 9 hits, 6 runs, 2 walks and he recorded 5 strikeouts. Zach Kuefler threw 3 innings of relief, he gave up 2 hits and one walk. Austin Ruehle had a great day, he went 4-5 with 2 doubles and he scored a run. Adam Beyer went 1-3 with a double for 2 RBI’s, he walked, had a stolen base and he score a run. Ben Johnson went 2-4 with a stolen base and Brooks Marquardt went 1-5 with a double and he scored a run. Zach Sufka went 1-4 with a RBI and Joey VanWahlde went 1-3 with a walk.

The Springers defeated Lakewood League rivals the Bees, behind a 14 hits attack and a great pitching performance by Drew VanLoy. Drew threw a complete game, gave up just 2 hits, 1 walk and he recorded 2 strikeouts. Tyler Geislinger led the offense, he had a great game going 3-3 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI’s and he earned a walk. Alex Jungels went 2-4 with 2 RBI’s and Joe Dempsey went 2-3 with a RBI and he scored a run. Drew VanLoy went 1-3 with a double for 2 RBI’s and he scored a run and Jeron Terres went 2-3 with a triple, he walked and scored a run. Brian Hanson went 1-5 with a double for a RBI and Jack Arnold went 1-4 with a RBI. Justin Thompson, after he threw 9 innings the night before, was the Springers catcher, he went 2-4. Drew Bulson, a sophomore, went 1-4 and he scored 2 runs.

For the Bees veteran Tim Marin started on the mound for the Bees, he was the pitcher of record. They collected two base hits; Tyler Lenz went 1-3 and Troy Lenz went 1-2. A interesting tweet showed up, the two starting pitchers of the game, have a total age of 85 years. Wow, that is a lot of experience!

COLD SPRING SPRINGERS  5  SAUK RAPIDS CYCLONES 3  (6/19/16 @ Sauk Rapids)

Game Suspended in the top of the 8th Inning: Springers batting 2 runners on no one out

The Springers took a lead in the top of the 8th inning, Mathias Butala started on the mound for the Springers, he threw 2 2/3 innings, he gave up 3 hits, and he recorded 2 strikeouts. Jack Arnold game to relief, he has threw 4 1/3 innings, he gave up 2 hits, 2 walks and he has recorded 5 strikeouts. Brain Hanson went 2-4 with a home run and a double, he had a stolen base and Alex Jungels went 3-4 with a double for 2 RBI’s and he scored a run. Ryan Holthaus went 2-4 with 2 big RBI’s, those coming in the top of the 8th inning. Joe Dempsey went 1-3 with a double, he walked and scored a run and Garrett Fuchs went 1-3 with a walk, stolen base and he scored a run. Zach Femrite went 1-4 and Brad Olson went 1-3 with a walk and he scored a run. Zach Hinkemeyer went 1-4 and Drew VanLoy earned a walk.

For the Cylcones, Andy Thayer started and he threw 6 innings, he scattered 6 hits, no walks and he had 4 strikeouts. Jeremy Thorson entered the game, he threw 1 inning, gave up 2 hits, 3 walks and he had 1 strikeout. Tyler Long is 1-3 with a walk and he scored a run and David Kroger went 1-3 with a RBI and a stolen base. Joel Haller went 2-3 with a stolen base and Tyler Bjork went 1-3 and Mitch Loegering had a sacrifice bunt and a sacrifice fly for a RBI. I could add the conclusion when the game is completed.

SARTELL MUSKIES 22 CLEAR LAKE LAKERS 1  (7 Innings) 6/17/16 @ Sartell)

The Muskies pounded out 17 hits to defeat their Sauk Valley rivals the Lakers. They got great pitcher efforts by a pair of lefties David Deminsky, Grant Machenthun and Max Koprek. David threw 5 innings, gave up 1 hit, walked 1 and he recorded 12 strikeouts. Max retired one batter in relief and Grant close it out, he threw 1 inning, he did give up 2 hits, 2 walks and he recorded 4 strikeouts. Several of the Muskies had a good night at the plate, Tim Burns went 3-6 with a triple and 5 big RBI’s and he scored 3 runs. Jace Otto went 2-3 with a home run and 3 RBI’s and he scored a run and Dan O’Connell went 2-5 with a double for 2 RBI’s and he scored 2 runs. Luke Sweeter went 2-3 with a double and 2 RBI’s, walked and he scored 2 runs and Rob Voshell went 2-5 with a double and he scored 2 runs. Brian Schellinger went 1-4 with a double for 1 RBI and he walked and scored 3 runs. Adam Wenker went 2-3 with a double for a RBI and he scored one run,  Johnny Schumer went 1-3 with a RBI and he walked and scored 2 runs and Adam Schellinger went 1-3 and he scored 2 runs. Cody Partch had a good night with a hit, he walked 4 times, he had one RBI and he scored 3 runs.

The Lakers pitcher of record was their starter, Derek Tombelin, he threw 1 inning, Cory Schmidt threw 4 innings and Mike Golombeicki closed it out with one inning of relief. The Lakers were led by Issy Carper on offense, he went 2-3 and Jake Samuelson went 1-3 with a double. Mike Golombiecki earned their lone RBI, Cory Schmidt walked twice and Brandon Buesgens walked and he scored their only run.

The Muskies topped their Sauk Valley League rivals the Blues, behind the strong pitching performances by Travis Weaver and Austin Gohl. Travis started and he threw 8 innings, he gave just 3 hits, walked 2, surrendered 1 run and he had 2 strikeouts. Austin Gohl earned the win with 1 inning of relief, he walked 2, gave up a run and he recorded 3 strikeouts. Cody Partch and Grant Lahn led the offense, Cody went 1-3 with a RBI, he walked and scored a run and Grant went 1-1 with a double for a RBI. Johnny Schumer went 2-4 and Brian Schellinger went 1-2 with a double and he walked and he had 2 stolen bases. Jonah Nebosis went 1-3, Luke Sweeter went 1-4 and Jake Sweeter went 1-4.

For the Blues Austin Larson started on the mound and he threw all 9 innings, he scattered 8 hits, walked 3 and he gave up 2 runs. Toby Chellin went 1-4 with a RBI, Caron Deal went 1-4, Dan Oster went 1-4 and Dylan Kotzer went 1-4.

SARTELL MUSKIES 14 LITCHFIELD BLUES 0 (7 Innings) (6/19/16 @ Sartell)

The Muskies bats were hot as the weather, they pounded out 14 hits and they were led by lefty Johnny Schumer’s pitching performance. He threw 6 innings, scattered 4 hits, 2 walks and he recorded 9 strikeouts. Max Koprek threw one inning of relief, he recorded two strikeouts. Several Muskies had good games at the plate; Tim Burns went 2-2 with a double for 2 RBI’s, he walked and scored 2 runs. Andrew Deters went 2-5 with a RBI, one stolen base and he scored 2 runs. Alex started and he threw 6 innings, he gave up 7 hits, 3 runs, 3 walks and he recorded 8 strikeouts. Eric Vigil earned the win in relief, he threw 4 innings, he gave up 5 hits, 3 walks and he had 2 strikeouts. Hunter Blommer went 1-4 with 2 RBI’s, he walked and was hit by a pitch and Ben Alvord went 1-4 with a double, sacrifice bunt, he walked and he scored 2 runs. Brandon Bloch went 1-4 with 2 big RBI’s and he walked and Ben Bierschied went 1-3 with 2 walks, 1 stolen base and he scored a run. R. J. Alpers went 1-4 with a stolen base and Ethan Carlson went 1-6 and he scored a run.

For the Lakers, Mike Smith started on the mound, he went 7 innings, he gave up 6 hits, 4 walks, 3 runs and he recorded 6 strikeouts. The Lumberjacks topped their Sauk Valley League rivals the Joes, behind the pitching performance by Mitch Keeler. He threw all 9 innings, he gave up just 5 hits, 1 walk, 2 runs and he recorded 4 strikeouts. Joe Ziwiki went 3-5 with 2 doubles and Chris Plante went 1-3 with a RBI and he scored a run. Kyle Kipka wen 1-3 with a walk and he scored a run and Brandon Moren went 1-3 with a walk and he scored a run. Tyler Midas went 1-4, Mitch Keeler went 1-3 with a walk and Sam Keeler had a RBI.

The Flames topped their Stearns County South rivals the Lakers, backed by Brad Mergen and Kyle Zierden pitching performances. Brad started and he threw 5 innings, he gave up  just 1 hit, 2 walks and he recorded 9 strikeouts to earn the win. Kyle threw 4 innings of relief to earn the save, he gave up 3 hits, 1 walk and he recorded 5 strikeouts. Craig Klein had a big game he went 3-3 with 2 RBI’s, 2 stolen bases and he scored 3 runs. Mitchell Thelen went 2-5 with a double and 3 big RBI’s. Dylan Panek went 2-5 with a RBI and Chris Wehseler went 1-3 with a double and a RBI and he scored 2 runs. Aaron Nett went 1-2 with 2 RBI’s, he walked and he scored 2 runs and Aaron Eiynck went 1-2 and he walked twice. For the Lakers, Weston Brinkman started on the mound, he went 3 innings, he gave up 8 hits, 6 runs, 2 walks and he had 2 strikeouts, he was the pitcher of record. Tim Hopfer threw 3 innings in relief, he gave up 4 hits, 4 runs, 3 walks and he had 2 strikeouts. Mitch Weidner threw 3 innings of relief, he issued one walk and he had 3 strikeouts. FREEPORT BLACK SOX 6 ST. STEPHEN STEVES 5 (6/18/16 @ St. Stephen)

The Black Sox topped their Victory League South rivals the Steves, behind the pitching performances of Mitch Reller, Tommy Benson and Ryan Tschida. Mitch started on the mound, he went 6 innings, gave up just 4 hits, walked 4 and he gave up 5 runs. Tommy Benson threw 2 1/3 innings of relief to earn the win, he gave up 1 hit, 1 walk and he had one strikeout. Ryan Tschida earned the save, he gave up a hit and 1 walk and he recorded 1 strikeout, to close it out. The Black Sox were down 5-0, going into the 8th inning and Troy Frieler connected for a big 2 run homer, he went 2-4 and Dylan Carson later in the inning had a big 2 run double, he went 2-5 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI’s and he scored a run. Mitch Waldvogel’s Texas leaguer, drove in the 5th run of the inning. Going into the 9th inning tied, Nate Mettenburg had a sacrifice fly to drive in the go ahead run, he was also walked and he scored a run. Seth Noll had a big day, he went 3-4 and the Sawyers, Carter and Ike both earned walks and they scored run.

For the Steves, Blake Guggenberger started on the mound and he went 7 2/3 innings, he gave up 7 hits, 5 walks, 5 runs and he recorded 5 strikeouts. Nick Krippner threw 1 1/3 innings of relief, he was the pitcher of record, he gave up 3 hits, 1 run and he had 2 strikeouts. Nick Krippner went 3-4 with a home run for a RBI and Matt Meyer went 2-4 with a walk. Austin Guggenberger went 1-4 with a walk and he scored a run and Dylan Hollenkamp earned 2 walks. The Lakers topped their Victory League South rivals the Saints, behind a strong pitching performance by right hander Kyle Collins and Will Kleinschmidt. Kyle threw 7 innings, he gave up just 3 hits, gave up 2 runs and he recorded 5 strikeouts. Will threw the final 2 innings to close it out, he gave up 1 hit and he recorded 2 strikeouts. Riley Voit had a big game, he went 3-5 with a home run and 2 big RBI’s. Cody Stich went 3-4 and Matt Meyer went 1-3 with 2 big RBI’s. Will Klienschmidt went 2-4, Josh Becker went 1-3 and Carter Holthaus went 1-4.

The Saints topped their Victory League South rivals the Steves, behind the pitching performances by Max Posch and Ryan Bloomer. Max threw 7 innings, he scattered 11 hits, 3 runs and he had 2 strikeouts to earn the win. Ryan Bloomer threw the final two innings in relief, to close it out. John Pogatchnik had a game that many of us could only dream about, he went 5-5 with 3 home runs and a double for 6 big RBI’s. Keaton Gustin had a great game too, he went 2-5 with a home run for 3 RBI’s. Brent VanHeel went 3-5 with a double for 3 RBI’s and he scored a run. Lee Maciej went 1-5 and Nick Konz went 1-1 and he scored a run.

For the Steves, Isaac Dammen started on the mound, he threw 4 innings, he gave up 8 hits, 8 runs, walked 1 and he recorded 7 strikeouts. Austin Guggenberger, he was the pitcher of record. The Express topped their Victory League rivals the Devils, behind the great pitching performance by Derek Thielen. He threw 11 innings, he gave up just 3 hits, 4 walks, no runs and he recorded 12 strikeouts. Derek also had a great game at the plate, he went 2-4 with a double and he scored their lone run. Derek Biniek went 2-5 with a RBI and Austin Gerads went 2-4. Travis Thielen went 1-3, Jake Klein earned a walk and Blaine Feia earned a walk.

For the Devils, Justin Eschenbacker started on the mound, he threw 10 innings, he gave up just 6 hits, walked 2 and he recorded 8 strikeouts. The Royals topped their 35 and over foe the Silver Springers with some very timely hitting. Andy Bauer started on the mound, he threw 4 innings to earn the win, he scattered 4 hits, 2 walks, surrendered 2 runs and he had one strikeout. D. J. Schleicher threw 2 innings of relief, he gave up 3 hits and he recorded 2 strikeouts and Luke Jokela closed the game out, he gave up 2 hits, 1 walk and one run.Tim Hanson had a good game, he went 3-4 with a RBI, stolen base and he scored a run. Kyle Budde went 2-4 with a RBI and he scored a run. Cole Schmitz had the big blow, he went 1-3 with a home run and a sacrifice fly for 3 big RBI’s. His home run occurred in their big 2nd inning, where they put up 7 runs. Adam Backes went 1-4 with a RBI and he scored a run and Cory Niewind went 1-3 and he scored a run. Dan Hanson went 1-4 and he scored a run and Brent Ruegemer went 1-3.

For the Silver Springers, Russ Hulls was the pitcher of record he started and threw 3 innings. He gave up 7 hits, 7 runs and he had three strikeouts. The Rockies defeated the Victory League foe the Lakers, behind the good pitching performance by Chris Lardy. He threw all 7 innings, he gave up just 4 hits, 2 walks and he recorded 3 strikeouts. Both teams were missing 2 or more of their starters in this contest. Back to back doubles by Kirby Tebrake followed by Jake Hennen to scored the first run of the game in the 4th. David Jonas added an insurance run with a his towering shot for a home run in the bottom of the 6th. His homerun was measured at 390 feet to right center, just missing the scored board.

The Lakers got a very good pitching performance from their starter, Scott Janson. He threw a complete game, he gave up just 3 hits and he recored 2 strikeouts. Reggie Litke went 1-3, Jamie Litke went 1-3, Brad Meyer went 1-3 and Preston Rocheleo went 1-3 and he earned a walk.

SOBIESKI SKIS 5 COLD SPRING SPRINGERS 4

The Skis topped their Class B foe the Springers behind a gritty pitching performance by Andrew Lange. He threw all 9 innings, he scattered 12 hits, walked 3, surrendered 4 runs and he recorded 3 strikeouts. The Skis took advantage of 5 miscues by the Springers of defense and a couple of base runners errors to top their class B foe. The Skis had 9 hits, led by Beau Hanowski, he went 2-5 with a double for 2 RBI’s and he earned a walk. Collin Eckman went 2-4 with a RBI, he had a stolen base and he scored a run and Riley Hirsch went 2-5 and he scored a run. Austin Weisz went 1-4 with a RBI, he scored a run and he earned a walk, Scott Litchy went 1-5 and he scored a run and Josh Wenzel went 1-5 and he had a stolen base.

The Springers starting pitcher, Zach Fermite coasted into the 5th inning, he gave up 5 hits, 3 runs, walked 4 and he recorded 4 strikeouts. A couple of walks and a error led to a run and a error and a pair of walks led to 2 runs in the 6th inning. Chris Butala threw 2 innings of relief, he gave up 5 hits, 2 runs and he walked 2. Jack Arnold closed out the 9th inning, he retired three batters. The Springers offense was led by Joe Dempsey and Drew VanLoy, Joe went 3-4 with a double and a RBI and he scored a run and Drew went 3-5 with a double and he scored a run. Ryan Holthuas, went 2-3 with a big double to drive 2 runs in the 6th inning and he earned a walk. Garrett Fuchs went 1-3 with two sacrifice bunts and Eric Loxtercamp went 1-3, he scored a run, earned a walk and he was hit by a pitch. Brain Hanson went 2-4 with a double for a RBI and he had a sacrifice fly and Brad Olson went 1-1 with a base hit.

COON RAPIDS RED BIRDS 1  BEAUDREAUS SAINTS 0  (6/18/16 @ Victoria)

The Beaudreaus were defeated by Class B rivals the Red Birds in a great pitching matchup. Joe Lewis started for the Red Birds, he threw a complete game, he gave up just 1 hit, 4 walks and he recorded 9 strikeouts. Dan Skog went 2-3, Zach Sather went 1-3 and he scored their lone run and Jack Paulson drove in their lone run.

For the Saints, Brad Haag started on the mound, he threw 6 innings, he gave up just 5 hits, one walk, one run and he recorded 2 strikeouts. Thomas Imholte got their only hit, he went 1-3. Ryan Schneider, Nick Hengel, Nick Maiers and Dustin Wilcox all earned walks.

BEAUDREAU’S SAINTS 8 VICTORIA VICS 6  (6/18/16 @ Victoria)

The Saints topped their Class B rivals the Vics, behind the pitching efforts by Nick Maiers and Tommy Auger. Nick started, he went 5 innings, he gave up just 3 hits, 2 walks, 3 runs and he recorded 8 strikeouts. Tommy earned the win in relief, he threw 2 innings, he gave  up 4 hits, 3 runs, 3 walks and he recorded 3 strikeouts. Ryan Schnieder went 1-4 with a double and 2 big RBI’s and he scored a run and Tommy Auger went 1-2 with a triple to clear the bases for 3 big RBI’s. Brian Minks went 2-4 with a RBI and he scored a run and Nick Maiers went 2-4 with 2 RBI’s and he scored a run. Thomas Imholte went 2-3 and he scored a run and Dominic Austin went 1-3 and he scored. Waylon Bemboom went 1-3, with a walk and he scored a run and Chad Hackemeyer went 1-3 and he scored. Nick Hengel walked and he scored a run and Brad Haag earned a walk.

For the Vics, Conner Ostreich started on the mound, he gave up 11 hits, 8 runs, 3 walks and he had 3 strikeouts. Josh Rehwaldt went 2-3 with a triple for a RBI and Tyler Sofgrem went 2-3 with a triple and a double.

The Saints dropped a close one to the Class B rivals the Fusion, Ronny Donally started on the mound and he threw 6 innings. He gave up 7 hits, 5 walks, 2 runs and he recorded 4 strikeouts. Alex Boswell threw 1 inning, to earn the save, he recorded 2 strikeouts. Zach Rusted went 2-3 with a double for a RBI and he scored and Aaron Page went 2-3 with a double. To Druk went 2-3 and Ryan Rumpca had a RBI.

For the Saints, Dominic Austing started on the mound, he threw 5 innings and he was the pitcher of record. He gave up just 4 hits, walked 1, surrendered 3 runs and he recorded 3 strikeouts. Chris Koenig threw 2 innings of relief, he gave up 2 hits and he walked one. Nick Hengel went 2-4 with a home run and Ryan Schneider went 2-4 with a home run. NISSWA LIGHTNING 4  COLD SPRING SPRINGERS 1  (6/15/16 @ Cold Spring)

The Lightning topped their Class B foe the Springers behind the complete game pitching performance by Scott Sand. Scott, a former St. Joseph Saint, scattered 6 hits, 1 walk, surrendered 1 run and he recorded 4 strikeouts. Their offense was led by Jeremiah Piepkorn, a former Cincinnati Red and Sauk Rapids Cyclone, went 3-4 with a home run and a double. For two big RBI’s and he scored 2 runs. Brett Jenkins went 2-3 with a double and Aaron Jenkins went 1-4 and he scored a run. Drew Boland went 1-4 and he scored a run and Nate DeChaine went 1-4 with a RBI. Luke Schumer, a former St. Joseph Saint had a sacrifice fly for a RBI.

The Springers had a good pitching performance by Justin Thompson, he threw a complete game. He scattered 8 hits, surrendered 4 runs and he recorded 2 strikeouts. Had it not be for a couple of miscues, by the Springer defense in the top of the fourth inning, the Lightning may not have score any runs in the top of the 4th, but they did put up 3 runs in the 4th. Considering the fact that the Lightning did put up over 70 runs last weekend and 38 in their last game, Justin pitched a very good game. The Springers had the bad luck, of several hard hit balls, were right at the Nisswa defenders. The Springers had six earned base hits, Garret Fuchs, Joe Dempsey, Zach Femrite, Drew VanLoy, Alex Jungles and Brad Olson. Jeron Terres did earn a walk and he scored their lone run.

ST. AUGUSTA GUSSIES 7 SAUK RAPIDS CYCLONES 2 (6/15/16 @ St. Augusta)

The Gussies were led by a pair of good pitching performances; by Aaron Fruth and Zach Laudenbach. Aaron threw 5 innings, he gave just 4 hits, walked one, he surrendered 2 runs and he recorded 6 strikeouts. Lefty, Zach threw 4 very good innings of relief to earn the win, he gave up just 1 hit and he walked two. Brady Grafft led the Gussies offense, he went 2-4 with two home runs for 4 big RBI’s. Adam Benoit had a good game, he went 2-3 with a double for a RBI. Aaron Fruth went 2-2 and he scored a run, Mitch Gwost went 1-3 and Matt Skaja went 1-2. Shea Rosha went 1-3 and he scored a run, Sam Matchinski walked and he scored a run. Michael  Laudenbach walked and he scored a run, Player/Manager Eric Primus had a RBI and Nate Gwost earned a walk.

The Cyclones starting pitcher Casey Lynch, threw a complete game, he gave up 9 hits, 7 runs, 3 walks and he recorded 3 strikeouts. Tyler Long led the Cyclones on offense, he went 2-4 with a double for a RBI and he had a stolen base. Tyler Bjork went 1-3 with a double for a RBI and he scored a run and Paul Schlangen went 1-3 and he was hit by a pitch. Jesse Lavoi went 1-3, he hit by a pitch, had a stolen base and he scored a run. Evan Warnert earned 2 walks and Mitch Loegering earned a walk.

LUXEMBURG BREWERS 6  SAUK RAPIDS CYCLONES 1 (7 Innings) (6/17/16 @ Sauk Rapids)

The Brewers topped their class B foes the Cyclones, behind the pitching effort by Mitch Ergen. He started and threw 6 innings, he scattered 5 hits, walked 1 and he recorded 8 strikeouts. Derrick Orth (DO) threw the final inning, he recorded 1 strikeout. This evening was an evening, both teams were missing two starters or more. Colton Fruth went 2-3 with a double and a sacrifice fly for a RBI and he scored a run. Player/Manger Cory Wenz went 2-3 with a RBI, he walked, had a stolen base and he scored a run. Nick Baker went 1-4 with a double and he scored a run and Mitch Ergen went 1-3 with a RBI and he scored a run. Rhett Fruth went 1-1 with a double for a RBI and Luke Harren went 1-3. Austin Klaverkamp went 1-4 and he scored a run, Chase Aleshire earned a RBI and John Fish scored a run.

For the Cyclones, Nate Friehammer started on the mound, he threw 5 innings, he was the pitcher of record. Evan Warnert threw 1 inning of relief, he threw left handed to two batters and traded gloves and threw right handed to the final two batters. Mitch Loegerring threw the final inning in relief, he recorded 3 strikeouts. Tyler Long went 1-3 with a double and Evan Warnert went 1-3. Mitch Loegering went 1-4 and Tyler Bjork went 1-3. The Rangers topped the Rails, behind to good pitching performance by Jordan Ross, he threw 4 innings, he gave up just 2 hits, 4 walks and he recorded 5 strikeouts. Josh Mackadanz threw 1 inning of relief, he gave up 2 hits, 2 runs and 2 walks. Brandon Schleper earned the save with 2 innings of relief, he gave up 1 hit and he recorded 2 strikeouts. Brandon Schleper had a good day, he went 2-3 with a double, for a RBI and he scored a run. Russ Leyendecker went 2-2 with 2 doubles and 2 big RBI’s and he scored 2 runs.
