KNSI Radio’s Central MN Baseball Round-Up (July 25)

PICTURE CAPTION: JACK BELL, The Voice of the Springers, began announcing games back in 1953. He and his brother started announcing games outside with a table behind the backstop. He was right out of the service at the age of 23, and he has been announcing since. Including high school, Legion, VFW, 35-and-over Silver Springers, Springers and Rockies amateur baseball. The Springers recently named their press box the Jack Bell Press Box. He continues to help with announcing of ball games.

LOCAL BASEBALL ROUNDUP

Back for a third season at http://knsiradio.com/sports/high-school-msc/about-msc/ with your weekly amateur baseball (Town Team) baseball reports. The plan is to continue to include: Lakewood League, Central Valley League, Sauk Valley League, Victory League South, Eastern Minney West and Stearns County South teams this season and the upcoming schedule for each league including tournament and exhibition games. In addition the league standings thru out the season.  Check out the Minnesota Amateur Baseball Web site for additional information. This was the last week of league games, with the exception of the Class B teams. Look for Play Off brackets to be posted at the MBA website.

CENTRAL VALLEY LEAGUE  (REGION 11C)

 The Central Valley League will not have any league playoffs this season. All teams will play in a double elimination regional tourney. Starts the weekend of July 30th and 31st in both Cold Spring and Watkins ball parks. Three games are scheduled for both Saturday and Sunday at both locations.  Pairings are posted below:

EDEN VALLEY HAWKS 6  ST. NICHOLAS NICKS 1  (7/22/16 @ Eden Valley)

The Hawks defeated their Central Valley League rivals, the Nicks in a make up game. Tanner Olean started on the mound for the Hawks, he threw all 9 innings. He scattered 9 hits, 3 walks and he recorded 9 strikeouts. Alex Geislinger had a big game, he went 3-4 with 2 doubles for a RBI and he scored a run. Dan Sargent went 2-4 with a double for a RBI and he scored 3 runs. Nate Geislinger went 2-4 with 2 RBI’s and Austin Schlangen went 1-4 with a RBI. Matt Uteberger went 1-4 and Zach Schlangen had a sacrifice bunt.

The Nicks starting pitcher was Jon Hofer, he threw 7 innings, he gave up 7 hits, 3 runs and he had 2 strikeouts. Kevin Drontle threw 1 inning of relief, he gave up 3 hits and 3 runs. Jon Hofer went 2-4 with 2 doubles and Tanner Anderson went 2-4. Matt Schott went 2-2 with 2 walks and he scored their lone run. Adam Dingmann went 1-4 with a RBI and Derek Kuechle went 2-3 with a walk.

PEARL LAKE LAKERS 12 EDEN VALLEY HAWKS 1  (7 Innings) 7/24/16 @ Eden Valley)

Justin Kunkel was the winning pitcher for the Lakers in a relief appearance. No other information was made available by either manager.

The Beaudreaus Saints topped their Lakewood League rivals the Cyclones behind the good pitching performances by lefty Nick Maiers and Chris Koenig. Nick threw 7 innings, he gave up just 4 hits, 4 walks and he recorded 4 strikeouts, to earn the win. Chris Koenig threw 2 innings of relief, he gave up 2 hits and he recorded 2 strikeouts. Steve Neutzling had a good game, he went 3-5 with a double for a RBI and he scored 3 runs. Brindley Theisen went 2-4 with 2 RBI’s, he walked and he had a stolen base and Ryan Schneider went 1-4 with a home run and he earned a walk. Nick Maiers went 2-5 with a double and he scored a run and Brian Minks went 1-5 with a double for a RBI. Chad Hockemeyer went 1-5 with a RBI, Waylon Bemboom went 1-4 with a walk and he scored 2 runs and Tommy Auger had a sacrifice fly for a RBI, he walked and he scored a run.

The Cyclones starting pitcher, Nate Friehammer was their pitcher of record, he threw 6 innings. He gave up 6 hits, 2 walks, 5 runs and he had 3 strikeouts. Tyler Long had a good game, he went 2-4 with a home run and he had a sacrifice bunt. Evan Warnert had good game, he went 2-4 with 2 RBI’s and Tommy Wippler went 1-5 with a RBI. Bryce Gapinski went 1-3 with a walk and he scored a run, Joel Haller was hit by a pitch and Tyler Bjork earned a walk.

The Muskies topped their Sauk Valley League rivals the Lumberjacks to advance to the championship game. Adam Wenker started on the mound, the right hander threw 8 innings, he scattered 5 hits, 1 walk, and he recorded 6 strikeouts. Lefty David Deminsky threw the final inning, he faced four batters, he gave up 1 hit and he had two strikeouts. Andrew Deters led the Muskies offense, he went 3-4 with a double for 3 big RBI’s, he walked, had two stolen bases and he scored 2 runs. Grant Lahn went 3-5 and he scored a run.  Jace Otto went 1-3 with a RBI, he walked, had a stolen base and he scored a run. Luke Sweeter went 2-2 with a sacrifice fly for a RBI, 2 walks and he scored a run and Jake Sweeter went 1-4 with 2 RBI’s. Cody Partch went 1-4 and he scored a run and Tim Burns walked twice and he had a stolen base. Jonah Nebosis went 1-1, Rob Voshell earned a walk and Adam Schellinger walked and he scored a run.

The Lumberjacks starting pitcher was Hunter Hammers, he threw 4 innings, he gave up 6 hits, 6 runs and 3 walks. Kyle Kipka threw 2 innings of relief, he walked 2 and he had a strikeout, Tyler Midas threw 1 inning of relief and Sam Keeler threw 1 inning of relief, he gave up one hit, one walk and he had two strikeouts. The senior to be, Noah Winkelman went 2-4 with a double and Tyler Midas went 2-4. Mitch Keeler went 1-2 and he was hit by a pitch and the crafty veteran, Mike Beier went 1-1. Ean VonWald earned a walk and Joe Ziwicki was hit by pitch.

FOLEY LUMBERJACKS 7 ST. JOSEPH JOES 6 (10 Innings) (7/24/16 @ Foley)

The Lumberjacks held off their Sauk Valley league rivals the Joes, behind the hitting of young Noah Winkleman. He went 3-5 with a home run for 3 big RBI’s and he scored 2 runs. Joe Zwicki went 1-4 with a RBI and Cameron Jurek went 1-4 with a stolen base, he was hit by a pitch and he scored a run. Tyler Midas went 1-3 with a walk and Hunter Hammers walked and he scored a run. Mike Beier walked, he had a sacrifice bunt and he scored a run and Sam Keeler earned a walk. Mike Plante started on the mound for the Lumberjacks, he threw 5 1/3 innings and Mitch Keeler threw 2/3 of a inning. Cameron Jurek threw 3 innings of relief to earned the win.

The Joes starting pitcher Alex Kendall threw 6 innings and Jack Atkinson threw the final 3 innings in relief and he was the pitcher of record. Joey Stock led the Joes offense, he went 3-5 with 2 RBI’s and he scored 2 runs. Ben Beirscheid went 2-3 with a stolen base and he scored a run. The Joes topped their Sauk Valley league rivals the Lakers to qualify for the region tournament. They were led by a good pitching performance by right hander Greg Anderson. He threw 7 innings, scattered 7 hits, walked 6 and he had two strikeouts. The Joes had 14 hits, they were led by Ben Bierscheid, he went 3-4 with 3 big RBI’s and he scored a run. Alex Kendall went 2-4 with a double and Joey Stock went 2-3 with a RBI, he walked and he scored 2 runs. SARTELL MUSKIES 7  CLEAR LAKE LAKERS 3  (7/23/16 @ Sartell)

The Muskies defeated their Sauk Valley rivals the Lakers, backed by lefty John Schumer’s pitching performance. John threw 7 innings, he scattered 5 hits, 3 walks, gave up 3 runs and he recorded 6 strikeouts to earn the win. The “Max Attack” Max Koprek the 6’6″ right hander earned the save, he threw 2 innings he  faced 6 batters and he recorded 3 strikeouts. Jace Otto had a good game, he went 1-4 with a 3 run home run for 3 big RBI’s. Cody Partch went 3-3 with 2 RBI’s and he scored a run and Rob Voshell went 2-3 with a sacrifice fly for a RBI, he had a stolen base and he scored 2 runs. The Lakers Cory Schmidt started on the mound, he threw 8 innings, he gave up 11 hits, 3 walks and he recorded 8 strikeouts. Rich Petty had a good game, he went 3-4 with 2 RBI’s and Matt Korte went 2-4 with a RBI and he scored a run. Izzy Carper went 1-2 with a sacrifice bunt and he was hit by a pitch. Cole Guengsman walked and he scored a run and Jake Samuelson earned a walk. Derek Timberlin, a senior at Annandale High School, earned a walk and he scored a run. Derek also made some very good catches in center field for the Lakers.

CLEAR LAKE LAKERS 4  LITCHFIELD BLUES 3  (7/20/16 @ Clear Lake)

The Lakers topped their Sauk Valley League rivals the Blues in the elimination game of the league playoffs. The Lakers were led by a couple of good pitching performances by Hunter Mutterer and Brandon Buesgens. Hunter Mutterer threw 6 2/3 innings, he scattered 6 hits, walked 1, surrendered 3 runs and he recorded 3 strikeouts, to earn the win. Brandon Buesgens threw 2 1/3 innings of relief, to earn the save, gave up one hit. The Lakers scored 3 big runs in the bottom the 8th to go ahead, the go ahead run was scored on a wild pitch. The Lakers had a 13 hit attack, led by Matt Korte, he went 3-3 and he walked twice. Rich Petty went 2-4 with a sacrifice bunt and Hunter Mutterer went 3-4. Brett Watercott went 3-4 with a RBI, a stolen base and he scored a run. Derek Tomberlin went 1-3 with a RBI and he scored a run and Mitch Voigt went 2-3 and he scored a run. Jake Samuelson had a sacrifice fly for a RBI and Cory Schmidt walked and he scored a run. The Lakers left eleven on the base and the Blues left 8 base runners on.

For the Blues, Kaleb Kalkbrenner started on the mound, he threw 7 2/3 innings, he scattered 11 hits, 1 walk, surrendered 4 runs, 3 were earned runs and he had one strikeout. Dylan Koll threw 1/3 of a inning of relief, he walked one and he had one strikeout. Jake Jones went 2-4 and he scored a run and Dylan Kool went 1-5 with a RBI a stolen base and he scored a run. Dylan Kotzer went 1-5 with a stolen base and Carson Deal went 1-4 with a sacrifice fly for a RBI. Stephen Pennertz went 1-4 and he scored a run, Cody Beavers went 1-4 and Toby Chelin went 1-4.

The Martins topped their Stearns County South rival the Lakers, behind some timely hitting. Kyle Lieser went 1-2 with a big 3 run home run, was hit by a pitch and he scored 3 runs. Bryan Schlangen went 2-5 with a RBI and he scored a run and Jordan Moscho went 2-4 with a 2 RBI’s and he scored a run. Taylor Holthaus went 1-4 with a double, a stolen base and he scored a run and Matthew Schlangen went 1-4 with a walk. Scott Schlangen went 1-3 with a stolen base, Josh Stangler went 1-2 and Jared Overman went 1-4. Scott Schlangen started on the mound for the Martins, he threw  7 innings to earn the win, he scattered 9 hits, 1 walk and he had one strikeout. Taylor Holthaus threw 2 innings of relief, walked one and he had 3 strikeouts.

For the Lakers, Weston Brinkman started on the mound, he threw 3 2/3 innings, he gave up 4 hits, 2 walks, 5 runs and he had 3 strikeouts. The Chargers defeated their Stearns County rivals the Martins, backed by their 10 hit attack and pitching performances by Austin Schoenberg and Shawn Schoenberg. Shawn went 2-5 with a double for 3 RBI’s and he scored a run. Jamie Terres went 2-3 with a double for a RBI, he walked twice and he scored 2 runs. Nate Terres went 2-3 with a sacrifice fly for a RBI and Eric Terres went 1-3 with 2 RBI’s and he walked and scored a run. Austin Schoenberg went 1-4 with a walk and he scored a run and Louie Opatz went 1-4. Austin Schoenberg started on the mound, he threw 7 innings, he scattered 10 hits, 2 walks and he recorded 4 strikeouts. The Chargers topped their Stearns County rivals the Flames back by a 11 hit attack, led by Jamie Terres and Eric Terres. Jamie went 2-4 with a double for 3 RBI’s, he walked and he scored 3 runs. Eric went 2-4 with a RBI, he walked and he scored 2 runs. Louie Opatz had a good game, he went 2-3 with a double for 2 RBI’s, he had a stolen base and he scored 2 runs. Owen Meyer went 2-4 with a RBI, he had a sacrifice bunt and he scored a run and Austin Schoenberg went 1-3 with a RBI and 2 sacrifice bunts. Nathan Terres went 1-4 with a sacrifice bunt, Shawn Schoenberg went 1-4 with a RBI, he was hit by a pitch and he scored a run and Kyle Bertram walked twice and he scored a run. The Chargers executed 5 very good sacrifice bunts and a big 6th inning help led them by the Flames.

The Flames, starting pitcher Brad Mergen threw 3 innings, he gave up 3 hits, 2 walks, 3 runs and he recorded 4 strikeouts. The four guys got time on the mound; Aaron Nett threw 2 2/3 innings, he gave up 7 hits, 6 runs, 1 walk, he had one strikeout. Aaron also held a Mass service at the ball game prior to the ball game. Kyle Zierden threw 1 1/3 innings of relief, he gave up 1 hit, 1 walk, 1 run and he had a strikeout. Taylor Fourre threw 1 inning of relief, he retired the final 3 batters. Brad Mergen led the Flames offense, he went 2-4 with 2 RBI’s and he scored a run and Aaron Nett went 2-3 with a double for a RBI. Aaron Eiynck went 1-4 with a double for a RBI and Mitchell Thelen went 1-4 and he scored  a run. Chad Mergen went 1-4 and Dylan Panek went 1-3 with a walk. Taylor Fourre went 1-3 and he was hit by a pitch and Cody Fourre earned a walk.

RICHMOND ROYALS 10  ROSCOE RANGERS 2 (7/24/16 @ RICHMOND)

The Rangers dropped their final game of the season to the Royals, in a game that was 3-2 going into the bottom of the 7th inning. The Royals put up 7 runs on the board in the bottom of the 7th inning. Dan Hanson was the winning pitcher for the Royals, in a relief appearance. Kyle Budde collect 3 hits, Adam Backes collected 2 hits, and Cory Neiwind had a double for the Royals.

The pitcher of record for the Rangers was Jordan Schlepper. Russ Leyendecker collected 2 hits and Brent Barg had a double for the Rangers. No other information was received from the home team management the Richmond Royals.

RICHMOND ROYALS 3  NEW MUNICH SILVERSTREAKS 2 (7/17/16 @ Richmond)

The Royals defeated their Stearns County North division foes the Silverstreaks, back by a pair of good pitching performances. Alex Budde started on the mound, he threw 6 innings, he scattered 4 hits, 2 walks, gave up 2 runs and he recorded 4 strikeouts. Andy Bauer threw 3 innings of relief to earn the win, he gave up just 1 hit, no walks and he had 2 strikeouts. Dan Hanson went 2-4 and Cole Schmitz went 1-3 with a walk and he scored a run. Kyle Budde went 1-4 and he scored a run and Tim Hanson went 1-4. Adam Backes went 1-4 and D. J. Schleicher earned a RBI on his ground out to third base. Dusty Adams earned a pair of walks, Cory Niewind earned a walk and Kenny Mooney scored a run.

For the Silverstreaks, Ty Reller started on the mound, he threw a complete game, he gave up 6 hits, walked 4 and he recorded 9 strikeouts. Paul Sand went 1-4 with a double for a RBI and Nick Stangler went 1-3, he walked and he scored a run. Ty Reller went 2-4 and he scored a run and Will Funk went 1-3 and he walked. Joe Stangler had a sacrifice fly for a RBI and Hunter Rademacher walked and he had a stolen base.

Jeff Amann started on the mound for the Stone Poneys.  He threw a complete game, he scattered 8 hits, walked 3 and he recorded 8 strikeouts. Teddy Fleiming went 2-5 with a double for a RBI and Rob Gabrielson went 1-4 with 2 RBI’s, he walked and he scored a run. Austin Timm went 1-3 with a double, he walked, was hit by a pitch and he scored a run. Matt Mauer went 1-4 and he scored a run and Brandon Reinking went 1-1. Jeff Amann walked and he had a sacrifice bunt, Sean Tillman earned a walk and Jim Gabrielson was hit twice by a pitch.

RUM RIVER BANDITS 14   SARTELL STONE PONEYS  4  (7 Innings) (7/22/16 @ Sartell)

The Bandits defeated their Eastern Minny West Division rivals the Stone Poneys. The Ponys got down right away, as the Bandits put up 3 runs in the first and then 6 more in the 5th inning. There was some break down in their pitching, but there was a couple of miscues on defense in both innings. It was to big of a hole to dig out of with the heat index being around 100! Mike Koplitz started and he threw all 7 innings, he gave up 6 hits, 4 runs, 6 walks and he had 3 strikeouts. Mike also went 2-5 with a RBI and he scored a run, to back his pitching performance. Travis Moreno, a former Stone Poney, went 3-4 with 3 RBI’s and he scored 2 runs. Tyler Kronst went 3-4 with 3 RBI’s, a sacrifice bunt and he scored a run. Andy Jukoski went 1-3 with a double and a sacrifice fly for 2 RBI’s and he scored 2 runs. Jake Gagne went 2-4 with a double for a RBI, he walked and he scored 2 runs and Josh Petrik went 3-5 with a double for 3 RBI’s.

For the Poneys, Nate Nierenhausen was the starter on the mound and he was the pitcher of record. Sean Tillman had a good game, he went 2-3 with 2 big home runs, the first straight away center field at about 385 plus.  The second was a line drive to left field about 345 feet. Jake Wenzel had a good game, he went 2-3 with 2 doubles and a RBI and Brandon Reinking went 2-4 with a double and he scored a run. Jeff Amann had a sacrifice fly for a RBI and he walked twice and Austin Timm had a sacrifice fly for a RBI and he walked twice.

COLD SPRING SPRINGERS 9 KIMBALL EXPRESS 5 (7/20/16 @ Cold Spring)

The Springers topped their Class C foes the Express from the Central Valley League.

A 16 hit attack and a good pitching performance led the Springers past the Express. Jack Arnold started on the mound, he had a tough first inning, he gave up 3 runs, 4 hits and 1 walk. He did settle in after the first inning, Jack threw 5 innings, he gave up 3 hits, 1 walk and he recorded 2 strikeouts, the 2nd thru the 5th innings. Justin Thompson threw 4 innings of relief, he gave up just 2 hits, 1 run, 1 walk and he recorded 7 strikeouts. Brian Hansen got the Springers on the board in the 1st inning with a 385 foot home run that hit the score board. Alex Jungels had a good game, he went 3-4 with a double for a RBI and he scored a run. Brad Olson had a very good game, he went 3-5 with 2 RBI’s, with a stolen base and he scored a run. Ryan Holthaus had good game, he went 3-5 with 2 RBI’s and Jordan Barth went 2-5 with a triple for a RBI and he scored a run. Drew VanLoy went 2-4 with a double, he walked and he scored 2 runs. Brain Hansen went 1-4 with a home run and a sacrifice fly for 2 RBI and he walked once. Joe Dempsey went 1-5 an he scored a run and Justin Thompson went 1-1. Zach Femrite had a sacrifice bunt and Tyler Geislinger earned a walk.

For the Express, Ben Johnson started on the mound, he threw 2 innings, he gave up 4 hits, 1 run and he recorded 3 strikeouts. Matt Dingmann, threw 3 innings of relief, he was the pitcher of record, he gave up 7 hits, 5 runs and one walk. Andy Dingmann threw 2 innings of relief, he gave up 3 hits, 2 runs and walked one. Brooks Marquardt closed it out, he gave up 2 hits, 1 run and he walked one. Ben Johnson went 1-3 with a double for a RBI and he scored a run and Zach Sufka went 2-4 with 2 RBI’s. Adam Beyer went 2-5 and he scored a run and Scott Marquardt went 1-5. Austin Ruehle went 1-5, Brooks Marquardt went 1-4 with a stolen base and Jordan Joseph walked twice, he was hit twice by a pitch and he scored 2 runs.

COLD SPRING SPRINGERS 4 BIRD ISLAND BULL FROGS 2 (7/24/16 @ Cold Spring)

The Springers defeated their Corn Belt league foe the Bull Frogs, back by the pitching performance by Justin Thompson. Justin threw all nine innings, he scattered 9 hits, 3 walks and he had three strikeouts. The Springers were missing no less than four of their starters from their lineup for the Sunday games. Alex Jungels went 1-4 with a double, he was hit by a pitch and he scored a run. Nate Hinkemeyer went 1-4 with a RBI and Drew Bulson went 1-4 with a RBI. Jack Arnold went 2-4 with a RBI and he scored a run and Brad Olson went 1-4 with a RBI and he earned a walk. Justin Thompson went 1-3 and Drew VaLoy went 1-4 with a walk. Tyler Geislinger walked twice and he had a stolen base and Chris Butala was hit by a pitch and he scored a run.

The Bull Frogs starting pitcher, Luke Kramer threw 6 innings, he gave up 8 hits, 2 walks and he had 5 strikeouts. Jesse Bjur threw 3 innings, he gave up 1hit, 3 walks and he had 3 strikeouts. Luke Stadther went 3-5 and Logan Swan went 2-3 and he scored a run. Shawn Dollerschell went 3-4 with a double and he scored a run and Dillon Gass went 1-4 with a walk. Ben Steffel went 1-2 with a RBI and Darrin Ditterich went 1-3. Trent Athman walked and he scored a run and Tyler Hebrink earned a walk.

MILROY YANKEES 4 COLD SPRING SPRINGERS 3  (7/24/16 @ Cold Spring)

The Yankees caught the Springers on a day where they were missing several starters and yet had a chance in the bottom the 9th. The Springers left the bases loaded and they could not push another run across the plate. The Yankee starting pitcher, threw a good game, Nathan Deutz threw 7 innings, he gave up just 4 hits, 4 walks and he recorded 4 strikeouts. Austin Deutz closed it out to earn the save, he threw 2 innings, gave up 2 hits, 2 runs, 4 walks and he had 3 strikeouts. Aaron Mathiowetz had a big day, he went 3-5 with a home run for 2 RBI’s. Andrew Mathiowetz went 2-3 with a RBI and Dylan Criquet-Danielson went 2-5 and he scored a run. Riley Carpenter went 2-5 and he scored a run and Andy Schmidt went 1-5. Matt Bauer went 1-5, Nolan Schaeffer went 1-3 and Eric Dolan went 1-5.

The Springers starter Zach Femrite, he threw 8 innings, he gave up 12 its, 2 walks and he recorded 13 strikeouts. In defense of Zach, there were only 3 or 4 hard hit balls the whole game, a number of the rest of the hits, is what we may term as Texas Leaguers. Justin Thompson threw the final inning in relief, he gave up one hit and he retired 3 batters. Ryan Holhaus went 2-4 and Brad Olson went 1-1 with 4 walks, 1 RBI and he scored a scored a run. Justin Thompson went 1-3 with a RBI and Alex Jungels went 1-4 with a RBI. Drew VanLoy went 1-2 with 2 walks and he scored a run. Zach Femrite went 1-3, he walked and he scored a run and Jack Arnold earned a walk. The Yankees were Corn Belt League champions and the Bull Frogs were a game in back of the Yankees.

SAUK RAPIDS CYCLONES 7 MONTICELLO POLECATS 2 (7/22/16 @ Sauk Rapids)

The Cyclones topped their Central Ridge foe the Polecats, behind the good pitching performances by Brett Degagne and Zach Fuecker. Brett threw 6 innings, he gave up just 3 hits, 1 run, 2 runs and he recorded 3 strikeouts. Zach threw 3 innings, to earned a save, he gave up 3 hits, 1 run, no walks and he recorded 4 strikeouts. Spencer Braun had a very good game, he went 4-5 with a double for a RBI and he scored a run. Tommy Wippler went 2-5 with 2 RBI’s and he scored 2 runs. Mitch Logering went 1-4 with a RBI, he walked and scored a run and Casey Lynch went 1-3 with a double and he walked and scored a run. Paul Schlangen went 1-2 with 2 stolen bases, Joel Haller went 1-3 with 2 walks and he scored 2 runs and Tyler Bjork walked twice.

For the Polecats, Mike Terres started on the mound, he threw 2 2/3 innings, Joe Tupy threw 1 1/3 innings, Michael Revenig threw 1 inning and Joel Kounkel closed it out with 2 innings of relief. Michael Revenig went 2-3 with a RBI and Michael Olson went 1-4 with a double. Kevin Holker went 1-3 with a double for a RBI and Jack Seibert went 1-4 with a double. Cole Bovee went 1-2 and Greg Holker walked and he scored a run.

WATKINS CLIPPERS 7 ELK RIVER WOOD DUCKS 3 (7 Innings) (7/22/16 @ Watkins)

The Clippers topped their Class B foe the Wood Ducks behind the pitching performances of Matt Geislinger, T. J. Frericks and Dan Berg. Matt threw 5 Innings, he gave up 2 hits, 2 walks, 1 run and he recorded 6 strikeouts. T. J. threw 2 2/3 innings of relief and Dan closed it out, he threw 1 1/3 innings, he gave up 1 hit and he had one strikeout. Kevin Kramer had a good game, he went 2-5 with a RBI, a stolen base and he scored a run. Lincoln Haugen called a good game behind the plate and he he went 2-5 with a RBI and he scored a run. Heath Kramer had a good night at the plate, he went 2-3 and Gary Peters went 1-2 with a double for 2 RBI’s. Matt Geislinger went1-1 with a double for a RBI and he scored a run and Brain Benson went 1-3 with a walk and he scored a run. Brenden Ashton went 1-4, Hunter Mathies went 1-2 and he scored a run and Adam Hiltner reached on two fielders choices, he had a stolen base and he scored 2 runs.

For the Wood Ducks, Tucker Morrell started on the mound, he threw all seven innings. Eric Nyquist went 3-4 and he scored a run, Brennen Beese went 2-3 with a RBI, he walked and scored a run and Kevin Books went 3-4 and he score a run.

ST. AUGUSTA GUSSIES 2  BEAUDREAUS SAINTS 0  (7/20/16 @ St. Augusta)

The Gussies defeated their Class B foes the Saints, behind the pitching performances by Dan Swan and Luke Richardson. Dan threw 7 innings, he gave up just 3 hits and he recorded a strikeout, to earn the win. Luke threw 2 innings of relief, to earn the save, he gave up 1 hit, he walked 3 and he recorded 2 strikeouts. Adam Gwost went 1-2 with home run and Marcus Lommel went 1-3 with a double and he walked. Matt Skaja went 1-3 with a double and he scored a run and Brady Grafft went 1-2 with a walk. Zach Laudenbach went 1-1, Eric Primus went 1-1 and Aaron Fruth earned a walk. Mitch Gwost walked and he had a stolen base and Dan Swan earned a walk.

For the Saints; Dominic Austing started on the mound, threw 6 innings, he scattered 4 hits, he walked 2, gave up 2 runs and he recorded 7 strikeouts. Brian Minks, threw 2 innings of relief, he gave up 2 hits, 3 walks and he had one strikeout. The Saints left the bases full in the top of the 9th inning. Dustin Wilcox went 1-3 with a double and Tommy Auger went 1-3 with a walk. Waylon Bemboom went 1-4 and Brain Minks went 1-4. Tom Imholte and Nick Hengel both earned walks. 

ELROSA SAINTS 5  COLD SPRING ROCKIES 4  (7/22/16 @ Elrosa)

The Saints of the Stearns County league topped their Central Valley foe the Rockies in exhibition action. Aaron Vogt started on the mound for the Saints, he threw 5 innings, he gave up 6 hits, 4 runs, 1 walk and he had 4 strikeouts. Austin Imdieke threw 2 innings of relief, he gave up 2 hits to earn the win and Brady Weller threw 2 innings, to earn the save, he gave up 1 hit, 1 walk and he had a strikeout. Derek Wiener went 3-3 with a double for 3 RBI’s and Matt Schmitz went 1-3 with a double for a RBI and he scored a run. Kevin Kuefler went 1-4 with a double, he walked and he scored a run and Austen Hadley went 1-2 with a RBI and he walked and scored a run. A. J. Hadley went 1-2 and Ryan Illies went 1-2 and he scored a run. Austin Imdieke went 1-3 and Cody Eichers walked twice and he scored a run.

For the Rockies, Trevor Lardy started on the mound, he threw 4 innings, he gave up 4 hits, 3 walks, 1 run and he had 3 strikeouts. Tyler McElwee threw 2 1/3 innings of relief, he gave up 5 hits, 2 walks and 4 runs, he was the pitcher of record. Luke Stang threw 1 2/3 innings of relief, he walked one and he recorded 4 strikeouts. Calvin Kalthoff had a good game, he went 3-5 with a double for a RBI and Cole Field went 2-5 and he scored 3 runs. Jordan Neu went 1-5 and he scored a run and Kirby TeBrake went 1-4. Blake Holbrook went 1-3 and he walked once, David Jonas had a RBI and Marshal Wirtzfeld earned a walk.

RICHMOND ROYALS 4 LUXEMBURG BREWERS 1  (7 Innings) (7/20/16 @ Luxemburg)

The Royals topped their Central Valley foe the Brewers, backed by a complete game pitching performance by Luke Jokela. Luke threw 7 innings, he scattered 7 hits, walked 1, gave up 1 run and he recorded 5 strikeouts. Kyle Budde led the offense, he went 3-4 with a double for 3 RBI’s and Dustin Adams went 2-4. Tim Hanson went 2-3, he scored 3 runs and he was hit by a pitch and Brent Ruegemer went 1-3 and he walked and he scored a run.

For the Brewers, Derrik Orth started on the mound, he threw 4 innings, he scattered 5 hits, 2 walks, gave up 2 runs and he recorded 4 strikeouts, he was the the pitcher of record. Luke Harren threw 3 innings of relief, he gave up 4 hits and 2 runs. Colton Fruth went 1-3 with a walk, stolen base and a RBI. Nick Baker went 1-4 and John Fish went 2-3. Luke Harren went 1-3, Mitch Ergen went 1-3 and he scored a run and Kelly Weber went 1-3.
