LOCAL BASEBALL ROUNDUP

Back for a third season at http://knsiradio.com/sports/high-school-msc/about-msc/ with your weekly amateur baseball (Town Team) baseball reports. The plan is to continue to include: Lakewood League, Central Valley League, Sauk Valley League, Victory League South, Eastern Minney West and Stearns County South teams this season and the upcoming schedule for each league including tournament and exhibition games. In addition the league standings thru out the season.

Wes Johnson: He was announcing the Sauk Valley game between the Sartell Muskies and the Foley Lumberjacks. He is scheduled to announce some of the Sauk Valley League Playoff games and some of the Region One games. Wes will be a 5th grader at the Sartell Middle School this fall. I recall Wes keeping the score book three years ago, when he was going into 3rd grade.

LAKEWOOD LEAGUE

COLD SPRING SPRINGERS 8  BEAUDREAUS SAINTS 7  (17 Innings) 7/12/16 @ Dick Putz)

The Springers defeated their Lakewood and Section 7B rivals the Beaudreaus Saints, in a game that was scheduled for a 7:30 start. Due to a Legion baseball game running late, the Springers and Beaudreaus got underway about 8:30. It was after 12:30 before we concluded the ball game, just 17 innings later. The Springers took a early commanding lead of 7-1 going into the bottom of the 7th, the Saints scored single runs in the 7th and the 8th innings. It was 7-3 going into the bottom of the 9th and they put 4 on the board to tie the game.

The starting pitcher for the Springers, Jack Arnold went 8 2/3 innings, before giving away to Justin Thompson. Jack had just threw a complete 7 inning game the previous Friday evening, in a win over the Hampton Cardinals. Jack scattered 11 hits, 2 walks, surrendered 7 runs and he recorded 5 strikeouts. Justin threw 8 1/3 innings of relief, he had just threw a complete 7 inning game and game up short against highly ranked Elko Express. Justin, battled the Saints thru the midnight hour, he scattered 7 hits, 4 walks and he recorded 10 big strikeouts.

There were 37 hits collected in this marathon ball game, the Springers had 19 hits. They were led by Drew VanLoy, he had a good game, he went 3-4 with a big 3 run homer in the 2nd inning. Joe Dempsey had a good night, he 3-9 with a double for 2 big RBI’s and he had a sacrifice bunt. His double drove in Justin Thompson from second base in the top of the 17th inning. Jeron Terres went 3-8 with home run, that hit off the score board and a stolen base and veteran catcher, Ryan Holthaus had great game behind the plate, he went 3-7 with a walk and he scored a run. Brain Hanson went 2-8 with a double, he walked, was hit by a pitch and he scored a run. Garret Fuchs went 2-8 with a RBI and he scored a 2 runs and Alex Jungels went 2-8 with a sacrifice bunt. Brad Olson went 2-8 with a walk, 2 stolen bases and he scored a run and Justin Thompson, walked, had a stolen base after being hit by a pitch in the 17th and he scored the go ahead and eventual winning run.

For the Saints, Brad Haag started on the mound, he threw 4 innings, he gave up 11 hits, 1 walk, 6 runs and he had 2 strikeouts. Chris Koenig, the former Husky, threw 10 innings of relief, he scattered 6 hits, he walked 2 and he recorded 9 strikeouts. Tommy threw the final 3 innings of relief, he was the pitcher of record. He gave up 2 hits and he recorded 5 strikeouts.

The Saints collected 18 hits, led by Brian Minks, he had a great game at the plate, he went 5-8 with 2 doubles for 2 RBI’s, he walked and scored a run. Steve Neutzlng went 3-8 with a walk and Tommy Auger went 2-7 with a big home run and he had a sacrifice bunt. Ryan Schneider went 2-9 with a double and he scored a run and Tom Imholte went 2-9 with 2 stolen bases and he scored a run. Jason Kotschevar went 2-7 with a RBI and he walked and Dustin Wilcox went 1-5 and he scored a run. Nick Hengel went 1-8 with a RBI, he walked and he scored a run and Waylon Bemboom walked twice and he had a stolen base.

COLD SPRING ROCKIES 4  LUXEMBURG BREWERS 3  (7/13/16 @ Cold Spring)

The Rockies defeated their Central Valley rivals the Brewers in a very good ball game and a very good pitching performance by Luke Stang. This was Luke’s first start since his high school days, two years ago and his second time on the mound this season. He threw 7 innings, he scattered 5 hits, 3 walks, 2 runs and he recorded 3 strikeouts to earn the win. Trevor Lardy threw 2 innings to earn the save, he gave up 3 hits, no walks, 1 run and he had one strikeout. The Rockies had 11 hits, all singles, they were led by a trio of players; Calvin Kalthoff went 2-4 with a RBI, Dylan Tebrake went 2-4 with a RBI and Kevin Wenner went 2-4 and he scored a run. Jake Hennen and David Jonas both went 1-4 with each a RBI and they both scored a run. Veteran Ryan Bell went 1-4, Jordan Neu went 1-4 and he scored a run and Trevor Lardy went 1-4. The Rockies put up 3 runs in the 1st inning and they never looked back, with 4 base hits to drive in their runs.

For the Brewers; Austin Klaverkamp started on the mound, he threw a complete game. He gave up 11 hits, no walks, 4 runs and he recorded 5 strikeouts. Chase Aleshire went 1-4 with a home run, that was about 390 foot line drive to right center. He made some awesome plays at short stop, one could make the MLB plays of the week. Derrick Orth went 1-4 with a triple for a RBI and he scored a run. Colton Fruth went 1-4 with a double for a RBI and Austin Klaverkamp went 1-3 with a double and a walk.  Sam Iten went 1-5 with a stolen base, Nick Baker went 1-4 and Luke Harren went 1-4. Bryce Adelmeyer went 1-1 and Isaac Matchinsky walked twice and he scored a run.

WATKINS CLIPPERS 5 ST. AUGUSTA GUSSIES 1  (7/17/16 @ Watkins)

The Clippers topped their Central Valley rivals the Gussies, backed by the pitching performances of three lefties. Matt Geislinger started on the mound for the Clippers, he threw 6 2/3 innings, he gave up just 4 hits, 1 walk, 1 run and he recorded 6 strikeouts to earn the win. T. J. Frericks threw 1 1/3 inning of relief, he recorded 1 strikeout and Dan Berg threw 1 inning of relief, to earn the save, he walked one and he recorded one strikeout. Brandon Ashton had a big game, he went 3-4 with a double for a RBI and he scored a run. Adam Hiltner went 2-3 with 2 stolen bases and he scored 2 runs and Kevin Kramer went 1-5 with a home run. Travis Linn went 1-3 with a RBI and Rob Doboszinski went 1-1 with a RBI. Dan Berg went 1-4, Lincoln Haugen was hit by a pitch and he scored a run and Matt Geislinger had a sacrifice bunt.

For the Gussies, Travis Laudenbach started on the mound, he threw 6 1/3 innings, he gave up 8 hits, no walks, 4 runs and he had one strikeout. Zach Laudenbach threw 1 1/3 innings in relief, he gave up 2 hits, 1 run and he had one strikeout. Nate Gwost went 2-4 and Adam Gwost went 1-3 with a walk. Aaron Fruth went 1-3 with a walk, Logan Alshire went 1-4, Dustin Schultzenburg had a stolen base and Nate Laudenbach had a stolen base.

KIMBALL EXPRESS 4 COLD SPRING ROCKIES 2  (7/17/16 @ Kimball)

The Express topped their Central Valley rivals the Rockies, back by a pair of home runs by Adam Beyer and a good pitching performance by Zach Dingmann. Zach threw a complete game, he scattered 8 hits, walked 4, 2 runs and he recorded 8 strikeouts. Adam Beyer went 2-4 with 2 home runs and Joey VonWahlde went 1-3 with a RBI. Scott Marquardt went 2-4 with a double, Brian Marquardt went 2-4 and Brooks Maquardt had a sacrifice fly for a RBI. Zach Sufka went 1-1 with a double and he scored a run and Ben Johnson went 1-4 and he scored a run. Kyle Winter went 1-4 and Jordan Joseph went 1-4.

For the Rockies, Chris Lardy started on the mound, he threw a complete game, he scattered 11 hits, no walks, surrendered 4 runs and he recorded 7 strikeouts. EDEN VALLEY HAWKS 6 ST. NICHOLAS NICKS 5  (7/16/16 @ Eden Valley)

The Hawks topped their Central Valley rivals the Nicks in a very well played game. Nathan Geislinger started on the mound for the Hawks, he went 1 2/3 innings and Tanner Olean threw 7 2/3 innings of relief. He gave up just 4 hits, 2 walks, 2 runs and he recorded 6 strikeouts. Austin Schlangen went 2-4 with a double for 2 RBI’s and Jake Anderson went 2-4 with a double and a RBI. Tanner Olean went 2-4, 2 runs scored and a stolen base and Dan Sargent went 1-5 with a stolen base. Jeff Haag 1-4, Nate Geislinger walked and he scored 2 runs and Matthew Pennertz had a sacrifice bunt and he scored a run.

For the Nicks, Travis Hanson started on the mound, he threw a complete game, he gave up 7 hits, walked 2 and he had one strikeout. Alex Faber went 4-5 with 3 RBI’s and Rob May went 1-3 with a double. Cory Graft went 1-4 and he scored a run and Nathan Theilen went 1-4 with a RBI and he scored a run. Travis Hanson earned a walk, Jeff Lutgen was hit by a pitch and he had a stolen base.

LUXEMBURG BREWERS 11 PEARL LAKERS 0  (7/16/16 @ Luxemburg)

The Brewers defeated their Central Valley foes the Lakers, behind a very good pitching performance by Mitch Ergen. He threw a complete game, he gave up just 3 hits, 3 walks and he recorded 5 strikeouts. Nick Baker had a good game, he went 3-5 with a double for 2 RBI’s and he scored 2 runs. Isaac Matchinsky went 2-2 with 2 home runs and for 4 RBI’s and he walked twice and scored 3 runs. Derrick Orth went 1-4 with a home run and Austin Klaverkamp went 1-4 and he score a run. Ethyn Fruth went 1-2 with a walk and he scored a run and Darren Kiffmeyer went 1-2 with a walk, he was hit by a pitch and he scored 2 runs. Chase Aleshire earned a walk and Cory Wenz was hit by a pitch.

For the Lakers, Tony Garding was their starter and pitcher of record. Tommy Linn went 1-3, Andy Linn went 103, Preston Peglow went 1-2 with a walk and Sam Schlangen earned a walk and Tim Voigt earned a walk.

The Lakers defeated their Sauk Valley rivals the Blues, behind a very good pitching performance by veteran Mike Smith. He threw a complete game, scattering 4 hits, 2 walks, 1 run and he recorded 9 strikeouts. Mitch Voigt had a great game, going 3-4 with a home run and a double for 2 RBI’s and he scored a pair of runs. Veteran Dave Burkholder went 2-4 with a RBI and Jake Samuelson went 1-3 with a RBI. Brandon Buesgens went 2-4 with a double and he scored a run. Cory Schmidt went 2-4 with a stolen base and he scored a run and Cole Grueningsman went 1-4 with a stolen base.

For the Blues, Ross Wendlandt started on the mound and he was the pitcher of record. He threw 8 innings, he gave up 11 hits, 5 runs, no walks and he recorded 5 strikeouts. Toby Chellin went 2-4 with a home run and Carson Deal went 1-4 with a double. Dylan Koll went 1- 4 and Jake Jones went 1-3.

The Muskies defeated their Sauk Valley rivals the Lakers in a come from behind effort. David Deminsky started on the mound for the Muskies, he threw 6 innings, he gave up 7 hits, 5 runs, 1 walk and he recorded 9 strikeouts, to earn the win. The 6’6″ right hander, Max Koprek threw 3 innings of relief, to earn the save, he gave up 2 hits, 1 walk and he had a strikeout. Tim Burns went 1-4 with a double for a RBI and Grant Lahn went 1-4 with a RBI. Grant Mackenthun went 1-3 with a RBI, he walked and he scored a run Brian Schellinger went 1-4 with a double for 2 RBI’s. Adam Schellinger went 1-2 with a walk and he scored a run and Jonah Nebosis went 1-2 with 2 walks and he scored a run. Luke Sweeter went 1-3 with a walk, Austin Gohl walked twice, had a stolen base and he scored a run and Rob Voshell walked and he scored 2 run.

For the Lakers, young right hander Cory Schmidt started on the mound, he threw 5 innings, he scattered 4 hits, 6 walks, 6 runs and he had 4 strikeouts. The Lumberjacks defeated their Sauk Valley rivals back by a 13 hit attack and a great pitching performance by a pair of right handers. Cameron Jurek started on the mound, he threw 5 very good innings, he gave up just 2 hits, 2 walks and he recorded 5 strikeouts. Mike Plante threw 2 innings of relief, he gave up just 2 hits and he had 4 strikeouts. Tony Stay had a big day, he went 3-4 with with 2 run home run for 4 big RBI’s and he scored 3 runs. Mitch Keeler went 3-4 with a home run for 4 RBI’s and he scored 2 runs and Tyler Midas went 2-4 with double for a RBI. Rich Rasmussen went 2-3 with a RBI and he scored a run and Joe Ziwicki went 2-3 and he scored a run. Player/manager Mike Beier went 1-1 with a RBI and he scored a run and Jordan Bialke went 1-4 with a RBI. Cameron Jurek went 1-4, Sam Keeler went 1-5 with a RBI and Mike Plante went 1-3. The Lumberjacks put up 11 runs in the 5th inning with 2 big home runs.

SARTELL MUSKIES 1  FOLEY LUMBERJACKS 0  (10 Innings) (7/17/16 @ Sartell)

The Muskies defeated their Sauk Valley league rivals the Lumberjacks in a very well played ball game. Adam Wenker started on the mound for the Muskies, he threw 7 innings, he scattered 4 hits, 1 walk and he recorded 5 strikeouts. Lefty Johnny Schumer entered the game in the 8th inning. He threw 3 innings of relief, he gave up just 1 hit and he had recorded 2 strikeouts. In the bottom of the tenth inning, John Schumer led off the inning, he was hit by a pitch and Adam Schellinger put down a perfect bunt to move John to second base. Andrew Deters then delivered his 4th hit of the ball game to center field to drive in John Schumer for the winning run. Andrew Deters led the offense, he went 4- with a RBI, he was hit by a pitch and he had a stolen base. John Schumer went 1-3 with a double and he scored a run and Grant Lahn went 1-4. Jake Sweeter went 1-4, Luke Sweeter went 1-3 and Adam Schellinger had a sacrifice bunt.

For Lumberjacks, it is hats off to a very special performance by the crafty, veteran right hander, their 46 year player/manager pitched a outstanding game. Mike Beier threw 9 1/3 innings, he scattered 8 hits, no walks and he recorded 3 strikeouts. Mitch Keeler led the Lumberjack offense, he went 2-4 and Tony Stay went 1-3 with a walk and he was hit by a pitch. Mike Beier went 1-4 and Cameron Jurek went 1-3 with a sacrifice bunt.

The Martins defeated their Stearns County South rivals the Flames, backed by a good pitching performance by right hander Ben Schroeder. He threw a complete game, he scattered 6 hits, 1 walk, 1 run and he recorded 6 strikeouts. The Martins scored 3 unearned runs in the 4th inning. Bryan Schlangen went 1-3 and he scored a run and Kyle Lieser went 1-3 with a walk and he scored a run. Taylor Holthaus walked twice, Chaz Hennen, walk, had a stolen base and he scored a run and Michael Schlangen walked.

For the Flames, Brad Mergen started on the mound, he threw 5 innings, he gave up just 2 hits, 4 walks, 3 unearned runs and he recorded 7 strikeouts, he was the pitcher of record. Father Aaron Nett thew the final 3 innings in relief, he gave one walk and he recorded one strikeout. Taylor Fourre had a good game, he went 2-4 with 2 doubles and he scored their lone run. Max Carlson went 2-3 with a RBI and Chris Wehseler went 1-3. Aaron Nett went 1-1, Brad Mergen earned a walk and Craig Klein was hit by a pitch.

LAKE HENRY LAKERS 5 ROSCOE RANGERS 4  (7/17/16 @ Roscoe)

The Lakers came from behind to defeat their Stearns county rivals the Rangers, with 4 runs in the top of the 9th inning. Mitch Weidner started on the mound for the Lakers, he threw 5 innings, he gave up 4 hits, 1 run, 4 walks and he had 3 strikeouts. Ryan Wuertz threw 2 innings of relief, he gave up 2 hits, 3 runs, 1 walk and he had 3 strikeouts. Weston Brinkmann threw the final 2 innings to earn the win, he recorded 4 strikeouts. Mathew Quade had a big day, he went 3-5 with a double, he scored a runs and he was hit by a pitch. Toby Flanigan went 2-2 with a RBI and Josh Kampsen went 2-3 with 2 walks and he scored a run. Jason Kampsen went 1-4 with a RBI and he walked once and Shane Kampsen went 1-4, with a walk, a stolen base and he scored a run. Grant Ludwig went 1-4 with a RBI and he walked once and Colin Riley went 1-3. Weston Brinkman went 1-2 with a walk and he was hit by a pitch twice,, Ryan Wuertz earned a walk and Sam Hopfer went 1-2 with a RBI.

For the Rangers, Jordon Roos started on the mound, he went all 9 innings, he scattered 13 hits, 7 walks, 5 runs and he recorded 7 strikeouts. Devon Savage went 1-1 with a double for 3 RBI’s and Brent Berg went 1-3 with a RBI. Brady Klinfus went 1-3 with a double and he scored a run,Trent Gertken went 1-5 and he scored a run and Nick Dingmann went 1-4.  Brandon Schleper went 1-5, Russ Leyendecker walked twice, Brandt Heinen and Nate Stang both earned walks.

ELROSA SAINTS 13  ROSCOE RANGERS 1  (7 Innings) (7/15/16 @ Elrosa)

The Saints defeated their Stearns County foe the Rangers, backed by the pitching performances by Brady Weller and Ethan Vogt. Brady threw 5 innings, he gave up just 3 hits, 1 run, no walks and he recorded 4 strikeouts.  Ethan threw the final two innings in relief, he recorded 2 strikeouts. Matt Schmitz had a good game, he went 3-5 with a double for 2 RBI’s and Kevin Kuefler went 1-3 with a RBI and he walked. A. J. Hadley went 1-4 with a RBI and he scored a run and Austin Hadley went 1-2 and he walked 3 times. Ethan Vogt went 2-4 with a homer run for 2 RBI’s and Matt Middendorf went 1-4 with a RBI, he walked and he scored  3 runs. Cody Eichens went 1-5 and he scored a run, Pat Illies went 1-2 with a walk and he scored a run and James Koeffler walked twice.

For the Rangers, Josh Mackendanz, started on the mound, he threw 3 2/3 innings, he was the the pitcher of record and Brandon Roos threw 3 innings of relief. Jared Spanier threw 2 innings of relief, he gave up 3 hits, 2 runs, 1 walk and he had a strikeout. Chris Vanderbeck went 1-3 with a double and Chuck Mackendanz went 1-3 with a double. The Lakers defeated their Victory South foes Black Sox in the first play off game, behind the pitching of veteran lefty, Troy Wunderlich. He threw 5 innings, he scattered 4 hits, 2 walks, 1 run and he had 2 strikeouts, to earn the win. Cody Stich threw the final 4 innings, to earn the save, he gave up 2 hits, 1 walk and he had one strikeout. Will Kleinschmitt went 2-4 with  2 RBI’s, a stolen base and he scored a run. Caleb Curry went 1-3 with a RBI, 4 stolen bases and he scored 2 runs. Matt Meyer went 1-3 with a RBI, walk,  a stolen base and he scored a run. Reed Voit went 1-3 with a sacrifice fly for a RBI and Adam Harlander went 1-3 with a walk, stolen base and he scored a run. Rick Hendrickson went 1-5 with a stolen base and Carter Holthaus had a RBI, he walked twice and he had 2 stolen bases. Riley Voit walked, 4 stolen bases and he scored a run, Kenny Weber scored a run and Cody Stich earned a walk.

For the Black Sox, Tommy Benson started on the mound, he threw 8 innings, he gave up 8 hits, 6 walks, 7 runs and he had 4 strikeouts. Ike Sawyer went 2-3 and Seth Noll went 1-4 with a RBI. Dylan Carlson went 1-4, Grant Hess went 1-4 and Carter Sawyer went 1-4. Ryan Tschida walked and he scored their lone run, Eric Evaslage earned a walk and Nate Mettenburg was hit by a pitch.

ST. WENDEL SAINTS 14  ST. STEPHEN STEVES 13 (7/16/16 @ St. Wendel)

The Saints defeated their Victory League South rivals in a battle that included a total of 31 hits and 5 home runs. Yet there was only one error committed by both teams. The Springers defeated their highly ranked Class A foes the Cobras, behind the pitching performance by veteran right hander, Zach Femrite. Zach in his first pitching appearance in about 3 weeks threw a complete game. He scattered 4 hits, 1 walk, one unearned run and he recorded 9 strikeouts. He had four innings where he face just 3 batters, they got a pair of singles in the fourth inning, the first being a infield hit. The Springers put up 8 runs in the 2nd inning, they batted 13, and 4 hits and 6 walks and a sacrifice bunt led to the runs. Brain Hanson continues to stay hot, he went 2-3 with a double for a pair of RBI’s, he had a stolen base and he scored a pair of runs. Garrett Fuchs went 1-1 with a double for 3 RBI’s with a sacrifice bunt and Ryan Holthaus went 1-3 with a pair of RBI’s, he walked and scored a run. Zach Hinkemeyer went 1-2 with a walk and he scored a run and Justin Thompson went 1-2 with a sacrifice bunt. Jack Arnold went 1-1 with a double and Jordan Barth went 1-1 with a double.  Joe Dempsey walked and he scored a run, Brad Olson walked twice and he scored a run and Max Fuchs earned a walk. The Springers got another good pitching performance from veteran right hander, Drew VanLoy. Drew threw a complete game, he scattered 9 hits, no walks and 3 runs. Jeron Terres had a big day, he went 3-4 with a double, a stolen base and he scored a run. Garrett Fuchs went 1-4 with a RBI and Joe Dempsey went 1-3 with a walk and he scored a run. Justin Thompson went 1-4 and Brian Hansen walked twice, had 1 RBI and he was hit by a blistering fastball! Brad Olson was hit by a pitch, Tyler Geislinger hit by a pitch, Ryan Holthaus was hit by a pitch, had a stolen base and a RBI. In the bottom of the 8th inning, Zach Hinkemeyer gained first base by way of a fielders choice, he stole second base, Brian Hansen was intentionally walked and Garrett Fuchs game up to the plate and he delivered a big single to center field to scored Zach Hinkemeyer. There was a close play at home and the catcher dropped the ball, to allow the winning run to score.

BRAINERD BEES 3  MINNEAPOLIS COBRAS 2  (7/17/16 @ Cold Spring)

The Bees pulled off the upset of the tourney, by defeating possibly one of the better Class A teams in the state. They beat the Minneapolis Cobras on a walk off home run by  Bryce Flanagan. Bryce went 3-4 with the game also with a double. There was a second hero in this game too, the Bees starting pitcher, player/manager Tim Martin threw a complete game. The crafty 52 year old right hander scattered 7 hits, 2 walks and he recorded 2 strikeouts to earn the win. Max Boran went 1-3 with a RBI and he scored a run, Blake Peterson went 1-3 and Paul Augustinak went was 1-3 and he scored a run.

For the Cobras, Chris Code started on the mound, he threw 4 2/3 innings, he gave up 4 hits, 2 walks and he had 3 strikeouts. Lefty Tyler Geislinger started on the mound, he threw 4 innings, he gave up 5 hits, 6 runs, 7 walks and he recorded 6 strikeouts. Nick Penick threw 2 innings of relief, he gave up 5 hits, 4 runs, no walks and he had a strikeout. Chris Butala threw 3 innings of relief to earn the win, he gave up 2 hits, no walks and he recorded 4 strikeouts. Chris Butala was the of the leaders on offense too, he went 4-5 with 2 home runs for 4 RBI’s, he was hit by a pitch and he scored 3 runs. Jack Arnold had a great game, he went 4-4 with 4 RBI’s, he walked and he had 2 stolen bases. Joe Dempsey had a good game, he went 2-4 with a 3 run home run, he score 4 runs, was hit by a pitch and he had a stolen base. The Express came from behind to defeat the County Line League champions the Chuckers. Matt Dingmann threw the final 2 innings to earn the win, he gave up 3 hits, 1 run, 2 walks and he recorded 4 strikeouts. Justin Schroeder went 3-4 with a RBI and Jordan Olson went 3-5 with double for 2 RBI’s and a stolen base. Vance Martin went 1-5 with a double and he scored a run and Michael Melvin went 1-3 and he scored a run. Brian Kingery went 1-4, Josh Cunningham went 1-4, walked and he scored 2 runs, Zach Cunningham went 1-5 and Jeff Peterson walked twice and he scored a run.

AVON LAKERS 7  ST. JOSEPH JOES 1  (7/13/16 @ St. Joseph)

The Lakers topped their Sauk Valley rivals the Joes, backed by a committee of pitchers for the Lakers. Kyle Collins started and he threw 3 inning and he recorded 6 strikeouts.  Cody Stich threw 2 innings of relief, he gave up 2 hits, 1 run and he had one strikeout, to earn the win. Tony Schoenberg, Will Klienschmidt and Carter Holthaus all threw 1 inning of relief. Will Klienschmidt went 2-3 with a RBI and he scored a run and Josh Becker went 2-4 with a RBI and he scored a run. Jordan Bloch went 1-4 and Carter Holthaus went 1-2 and he scored a run. Putter Harlander went 1-1 and he scored a run and Rich Hendrickson went 1-2 and he walked. Riley Voit went 1-4 and Matt Meyer walked and he scored a run and Cody Stich had a RBI.

For the Joes, Nathan Mohs, threw a complete game, he scattered 7 hits, gave up 5 runs, 2  were earned and he recorded 10 strikeouts. Ethan Carlson had a good game, he went 3-4 with a triple and he scored a run. Alex Kendall went 1-4, Will Willats went 1-3 and Joe Stock had a sacrifice fly for a RBI. 

SARTELL STONE PONEYS 9  ELK RIVER WOOD DUCKS 9 (7/13/16 @ Sartell)

The Stone Poneys tied their Class B foe the Wood Ducks after battling to a tie for 9 innings. Chandler Rask was the Stone Poneys starting pitcher, it was his first appearance on the mound, he threw 3 innings. Nathan Nierenhausen threw one inning of relief, Brandon Reinking threw 3 innings, Jordan Clitty threw 1 1/3 and Jeff Amann closed it out as he retired the final two batters. Jeff Amann went 2-4 with a double for 2 RBI’s, he walked twice and he scored 1 run. Sean Tillman went 2-5 with a RBI and he scored a run and Matt Maurer went 1-5 with 2 RBI’s, he was hit by a pitch and he had one stolen base. Teddy Fleming went 1-5 with a walk, stolen base and he scored 2 runs and Spencer Timm went 1-2 with walks, he was hit by a pitch and he scored 2 runs. Alex O’Leary went 1-2 and he scored a run and Jesse Ouren went 1-1 and he walked once. Jake Wenzel walked, had a stolen base and he scored a run and Brandon Reinking walked and he scored a run.

For the Wood Ducks, Kyle Knaeble started on the mound. Brennan Besse went 3-6 with 2 RBI’s and he scored a run and Eric Nyquist went 2-6 and he scored a run.
