KNSI Radio’s Central MN Baseball Round-Up (July 11)

LOCAL BASEBALL ROUNDUP

Back for a third season at http://knsiradio.com/sports/high-school-msc/about-msc/ with your weekly amateur baseball (Town Team) baseball reports. The plan is to continue to include: Lakewood League, Central Valley League, Sauk Valley League, Victory League South, Eastern Minney West and Stearns County South teams this season and the upcoming schedule for each league including tournament and exhibition games. In addition the league standings thru out the season.

CENTRAL VALLEY LEAGUE

ST. AUGUSTA GUSSIES 8  COLD SPRING ROCKIES 4  (7/8/16 @ Cold Spring)

The Gussies defeated Central Valley league rival the Rockies, behind a pair of home runs and good pitching performances. Nate Laudenbach went 2-5 with a home run and a double for 2 big RBI’s, he scored a pair of runs and he had a stolen base. Aaron Fruth went 1-4 with a big 2 run home run and Marcus Lommel had a big game, he went 2-5 with a triple and a double for a RBI and he scored a run. Dustin Schultzenburg went 1-4 with a big double and a sacrifice fly for 2 RBI’s. Mitch Gwost went 2-3 with a walk and he scored a run and Nate Gwost went 1-3 with a sacrifice fly for a RBI. Adam Gwost went 1-4, Brady Grafft earned a walk and Dan Swan had a sacrifice bunt. Travis Laudenbach started on the mound for the Gussies, he went 8 innings, he scattered 9 hits, 1 walk and he had a strikeout. Travis did earn the win and Zach Laudenbach earned the save with 2 innings of relief, he recorded 1 strikeout.

For the Rockies, Trevor Lardy started on the mound, he threw 8 innings, he scattered 8 hits, 2 walks, he surrendered 6 runs and he had 2 strikeouts. Jordan Neu threw one inning of relief, have gave up 2 hits, 2 walks and 2 runs. Dylan TeBrake had a great night for the Rockies, he went 4-4 with a double for a RBI and he scored 2 runs. Mason Ruegemer went 1-4 with a RBI and Mike Holbrook went 1-4 with a RBI. Jordan Neu went 1-5, David Jonas went 1-4 and Kirby TeBrake went 1-4 and he scored a run. David Holbrook had a sacrifice bunt, player/manager earned a walk.

LUXEMBURG BREWERS 7 ST. AUGUSTA GUSSIES 5 (7/10/16 @ Luxemburg)

The Brewers came back from a 4-0 deficit to defeat their Central Valley rivals the Gussies.  They were led by the pitching and hitting performance by Sam Iten and a total of four big home runs. Sam started on the mound for the Brewers, he threw a complete game, but after giving up 4 runs and 3 hits in the first inning. He scattered 10 hits, 5 runs, no walks and he recorded 10 strikeouts. Sam went 3-4 with 2 home runs for 2 RBI’s and he scored 3 runs, this was a great performance with the heat index being close to 95 degrees. Chase Aleshire went 1-4 with a 2 run home run and 2 RBI’s and Derrick Orth went 1-3 with a 2 run home run for two big RBI’s and he scored 2 runs. They put up 4 runs in the 5th inning to take the led a 6-4. Austin Klaverkamp went 1-3 with a RBI and a sacrifice bunt, Nick Baker went 1-4 and Colton Fruth went 1-3 with a walk and 2 stolen bases. Isaac Machinsky walked 3 times and he scored 1 run, Luke Harren earned a walk and Kelly Weber earned a walk.

For the Gussies, Nate Laudenbach started on the mound, he threw 6 1/3 innings, he gave up 7 hits, 7 runs, 5 walks and he recorded 4 strikeouts. Nate was the pitcher of record for the Gussies, Zach Laudenbach threw 1 2/3 innings of relief, he gave up 1 hit, 1 walk and he had one strikeout. Dustin Schultzenburg had a big game, he went 2-5 with a stolen base and he scored a run. Adam Gwost went 1-5 with a RBI and he scored a run and Logan Alshire went 1-4 with a RBI and he scored a run. Nate Gwost went 2-4 and he scored a run and Aaron Fruth went 1-4. Brady Grafft went 1-4, Marcus Lommel went 1-5 and he scored a run and Nate Laudenbach went 1-5

KIMBALL EXPRESS 6  WATKINS CLIPPERS 0  (7/10/16 @ Kimball)

The Express topped their Central Valley league rivals the Clippers behind the good pitching performance by Ben Johnson. Ben threw 7 innings, he scattered 6 hits, walked one and he recorded 14 strikeouts. Andy Dingmann threw the final 2 innings in relief he gave up 1 hit and he had one strikeout. The Express had 12 hits to back Ben, led by Austin Ruehle, he went 4-5 with a triple for 2 RBI’s and he scored a run. The Marquardt brothers combined for 6 hits, Scott went 2-4 with a triple for a RBI and he scored a run. Brian went 3-4 and Brooks went 1-3 with a double and he scored a run. Jordan Joseph went 1-5 with a RBI and he scored a run and Adam Beyer went 1-3 with a walk. Joey VonWalde walked and he scored a run and Kyle Winter earned a walk.

For the Clippers, T. J. Frericks started on the mound, he threw 3 innings, gave up 5 hits, 2 walks, 4 runs, he was the pitcher of record. Heath Kramer threw 5 innings of relief, he scattered 7 hits, walked 1, 2 runs and he recorded 5 strikeouts. Kevin Kramer had a good game, he went 3-5 with a double and Dan Berg went 2-4. Heath Kramer went 1-4 with a stolen base and Ryan Tri went 1-1. Dustin Kramer earned a walk, Adam Hiltner and Matt Geislinger were both hit by pitches.

COLD SPRING ROCKIES 12  ST. NICHOLAS NICKS 0  (7/10/16 @ St. Nicholas)

The Rockies defeated their Central Valley rivals the Nicks, behind the very good pitching performance by Chris Lardy. They backed Chris with a 13 hit attack including a home run and 3 doubles. Chris threw a complete game, he gave up just 4 hits, 2 walks and he recorded 6 strikeouts. Ryan Bell had a great game, he went 3-6 with a home run for 3 RBI’s and he scored 2 runs. David Jonas had a good game, he went 3-6 with a double and Jordan Neu went 3-5 with a RBI. Mike Holbrook went 2-4 with a double and a sacrifice bunt for 3 RBI’s. Jake Hennen went 3-3 with a home run and he scored 2 runs, Cole Field went 2-4 with a double, he walked and scored a run and Kevin Wenner walked and he scored a run.

For the Nicks, Andrew Bautch started on the mound and he was the pitcher of record. Tanner Anderson went 2-4, Robert Lutgen went 1-3 with a walk, Andrew Bautch went 1-3 and Adam Dingmann earned a walk.

EDEN VALLEY HAWKS 9  PEARL LAKE 3  (7/10/16 @ Pearl Lake)

The Hawks defeated their Central Valley league rivals the Lakers behind the pitching performance by Tanner Olean and Jeff Haags big day at the plate. Tanner threw a complete game, he scattered 7 hits, and he recorded 7 strikeouts. Jeff Haag went 2-5 with a 3 run home run and a run run single for 5 big RBI’s. Jake Anderson had a double and Alex Geislinger and Alex Schumacher each collected 2 hits each.

For the Lakers, Logan Schramel was their starting pitcher and the pitcher of record. Mitch Wienek went 2-4 a double for a RBI.

BEAUDREAU’S SAINTS 10  BRAINERD BEES 0 (7 Innings) 7/6/16 @ Dick Putz)

The Beaudreau’s Saints topped their Lakewood and Region rivals the Bees, behind the great pitching performance by Brad Haag. Brad threw 7 innings, he gave up just 1 hit, 1 walk and he recorded 9 strikeouts.  Brad had five 1, 2, 3 innings, as he threw to 24 batters in 7 innings, only two balls got out of the infield.  Tom Imholte had a good game, he went 1-1 with 3 walks, a double for 2 RBI’s, had a stolen base and he scored 2 runs. Tommy Auger went 1-4 with a 2 RBI’s and he scored a run and Chad Hackemeyer went 1-3 with a RBI and he walked. Steve Neutzling went 2-3, he was hit by a pitch and he scored a run and Jason Kotschevar went 1-4. Dustin Wilcox went 1-3 with a double, he walked and scored 2 runs, Brian Minks went 1-4 and he scored a run and Waylon Bemboom was hit by a pitch and he scored a run.

For the Bees, Joel Martin started on the mound, he threw 5 innings, he was the pitcher of record. Paul Augustinack threw 1 inning of relief, he gave up a hit, 1 walk and he had a strikeout. Blake Peterson went 1-3 and Tyler Lenz walked.

SAUK RAPIDS CYCLONES 10 BRAINERD BEES 5  (7/10/16 @ Brainerd)

The Cyclones came back from a 5-3 deficit to beat their Lakewood rivals the Bees with 7 runs in the top of the 7th inning. Andy Thayer started on the mound, he threw 6 innings, he scattered 6 hits, 3 walks, 3 runs and he had 2 strikeouts. Brett Degagne threw 2 innings of relief, he gave up 2 hits, 2 walks and he recorded 5 strikeouts. Jeremy Thorson threw 1 inning of relief to earn the win, he faced 3 batters in the bottom of the 9th. Spencer Braun went 2-3 with a double for 2 RBI’s, had had a stolen base and he scored 2 runs. Tommy Wippler went 2-4, he walked and he scored 3 runs. Jesse Lavoi went 1-4 with a sacrifice fly for a RBI and he scored a run and Andy Thayer went 2-2 with a sacrifice bunt and he scored a run. Bryce Gapinski went 1-4, he was hit by a pitch and he scored a run, Evan Warnert went 1-6 and he scored a run and Derek Sauer walked 3 times and he scored a run.

For the Bees, Blake Peterson started on the mound for the Bees and he was the pitcher of record. Joel Martin went 2-5 with a double and he scored 2 runs and Kevin Peterson went 2-4 and he scored a run. Bryce Flanangen went 1-4 with a walk and Troy Lenz went 1-3 with a walk.

SARTELL MUSKIES 7  LITCHFIELD BLUES 0  (7/8/16 @ Litchfield)

The Muskies defeated their Sauk Valley league rivals the Blues, behind a good pitching performance and a 14 hit attack. David Deminsky started on the mound for the Muskies, he threw 7 innings, gave up just 3 hits, 3 walks and he recorded 7 strikeouts. Travis Weaver threw 1 inning of relief, he gave up one hit and Max Koprek threw 1 inning of relief, he gave up 1 hit and he recorded 3 strikeouts. Cody Partch had a very good game, he went 3-5 with a home run and a double for 2 RBI’s and he had 3 stolen bases. Adam Schellinger had good game, he went 3-4 with a double for a RBI and Brian Schellinger went 1-5 with a double for 2 RBI’s. Tim Burns went 2-4 with a double for a RBI, scored a run and he had a stolen base and Jake Sweeter went 2-3 and he scored a run. Rob Voshell went 2-5 with a double and Adam Wenker went 1-5. Jake Sweeter and Ausin Gohl both earned walks for the Muskies.

For the Blues, Austin Larson started on the mound, he threw 6 innings, he gave up 11 hits, 7 runs, 2 walks and he had 4 strikeouts. Stephen Pennertz threw 2 innings of relief, he gave up 2 hits. Cody Beavers threw 1 inning of relief, he gave 1 hit, 1 walk and he had one strikeout. Jake Schultz went 2-3, Dylan Koll went 1-3, Dylan Kotzer went 1-4 and Cody Beavers went 1-3.

ST. JOSEPH JOES 11 CLEAR LAKE LAKERS 1  (7 Innings) (7/9/16 @ St. Joe)

The Joes topped their Sauk Valley rivals, behind a very good pitching performance and a 10 hit attack. Greg Anderson started on the mound, he threw all 7 innings, he scattered 5 hits, 1 walk, surrendered 1 run and he recorded 2 strikeouts. Greg had four 1, 2, 3 innings, he pitched to just 25 batters.  Joey Stock had a big game for the Joe’s, he went 4-5 with home run for a RBI and he walked and he scored 4 runs. Tyler Mueller went 2-3 with a double for a RBI, a sacrifice bunt, he walked twice and he scored 3 runs. Brandon Bloch went 1-4 with a sacrifice fly for 3 big RBI’s and Ben Alvord went 1-4 with 2 RBI’s, he walked, had a stolen base and he scored a run. It was Ben’s walked off single that drove in both Ethan Carlson and Joey Stock, in the bottom of the 7th inning. Greg Anderson went 1-4 with 2 RBI’s and Mike Tiede went 1-3 with a triple and 2 walks. Ethan Carlson walked, was hit by a pitch, had a stolen base and he scored 2 runs. Hunter Bloomer was hit by a pitch, he had a stolen base and Ben Bierschied earned a walk.

For the Lakers, their starting pitcher Cory Schmidt was the pitcher of record. He gave up 6 hits, waked 4 and he surrendered 6 runs, he had 2 strikeouts. Matt Korte went 2-3 with two doubles and he scored their lone run. Isspy Carper, Jake Samuelson and Brandon Buesgens all had base hits for the Lakers.

SARTELL MUSKIES 4  ST. JOSEPH JOES 1 (7/10/16 @ Sartell)

The Muskies defeated their Sauk Valley rivals the Joes, behind the good pitching performance by lefty Johnny Schumer. He threw 6 innings, he gave up just 2 hits, 2 walks and he recored 4 strikeouts, to earn the win. The “Max attack” 6′ 6″ right hander, Max Koprek threw the final 3 innings of relief, he did not give up a hit, he had no walks and he recorded one strikeout. It was the Jace Otto day, he went 2-4 with 2 big home runs for all  4 RBI’s, he had a 3 run homer in the 3rd inning and another in the 5th inning. Brian Schellinger went 2-3 with a walk and he scored a run and Tim Burns went 2-4 and he scored a run. Jake Sweeter went 2-4 with 2 big doubles and Cody Partch went 1-3. Adam Schellinger and Adam Wenker both earned walks.

For the Joes, Mike Ashwill started on the mound, he threw 4 innings, he gave up 4 hits, 2 walks and 3 runs. Eric Vigil threw 4 innings of relief, he gave up 4 hits, walked 1 and he gave up one run. Tyler Mueller went 1-5 and Ben Alvord went 1-2 and he was hit by a pitch. Both Ethan Carlson and Ben Bierchied both earned walks.

FOLEY LUMBERJACKS 10  CLEAR LAKE LAKERS 0  (7/10/16 @ Clear Lake)

The Lumberjacks topped their Sauk Valley league rivals the Lakers, behind the good pitching effort by Cameron Jurek. Cam threw 7 innings, he gave up just 4 hits, no walks and he recorded 10 strikeouts. Mitch Keeler went 2-5 with 3 RBI’s and Tyler Midas went 3-5 with 2 RBI’s and he scored a run. Mike Plante went 2-4 and he scored a run and player/manager Mike Beier went 2-2 with 2 RBI’s and he scored 2 runs. Tony Stang went 2-3 and he scored a run, Rich Rasmussen walked twice and Noah Winkleman earned a walk.

For the Lakers, Mike Smith started on the mound, he threw all 7 innings, he gave up 11 hits, 10 runs, 5 walks and he recorded 9 strikeouts. Matt Korte went 2-3, Brandon Buesgens went 1-3 and Izzy Caarper went 1-3.

The Martins defeated Stearns county North division foes the Cubs, behind the good pitching performance by Ben Schroeder. He threw 5 innings, scattered 4 hits, 1 walk and he recorded 3 strikeouts. Jaylyn Arceneau thew 1 inning of relief, he gave up 3 hits, 1 run and he had a strikeout. Bryan Schlangen threw the final inning, he recorded 2 strikeouts. Kyle Lieser had a big day, he went 2-3 with a 2 big home runs for 6 RBI’s, he walked and he had a stolen base. Bryan Schlangen went 2-3 with a home run for 3 RBI’s, he walked and he scored 3 runs. Scott Schlangen went 2-4 with a double for a RBI and he scored a run and Austin Arceneau went 1-3 with a RBI and he scored a run. Michael Schlangen walked twice, had a stolen base and he scored 2 runs and Chas Hennen had a double, he walked, 2 stolen bases and he he was hit by a pitch. Taylor Holthaus walked and scored a run and Jordan Moscho scored a run.

For the Cubs, Brandon Worms was their starter and pitcher of record, he gave up 5 hits, 7 runs, 3 walks and he recorded 5 strikeouts. Andy Ulbricht threw 1 inning of relief, he walked 3, gave up 2 hits, 4 runs and he had a strikeout. Nick Rademacher went 2-3 with a triple and he scored a run. Ryan Kraemer went 2-3 and Peter Larkin went 1-2 with a walk. Brandon Worms went 1-3 and Kegan Stueve went 1-3 for the Cubs.

FARMING FLAMES 5  ROSCOE RANGERS 4  (10 Innings) (7/10/16 @ Farming)

The Flames defeated their Stearns County South rivals the Rangers in 10 innings and 95 plus heat index. The Flames spent 2 hours plus to prepare the field after having 2 inches of rain. Kyle Zeirden started on the mound, he threw 6 innings, he gave up 6 hits, 3 walks, 4 runs and he recorded 4 strikeouts. Brad Mergen threw 4 innings of relief to earn the win, he gave up just 1 hit and he record 8 strikeouts. Brad Mergen went 2-5 with a double for 2 RBI’s and Chris Wehsler went 2-4 with a double. Cody Fourre went 2-4 with a triple for 2 RBI’s and Craig Klein went 1-3 with a double and he scored a run. Mitch Thelien went 2-4, he walked and he scored a run and Aaron Eiynck went 1-4 with a walk and he scored a run.Brent Mergen went 1-1 and he scored a run and Kyle Zierden scored a run.

For the Rangers, Jordan Roos started on the mound, he threw 7 innings, he scattered 5 hits, 2 walks and gave up 4 runs and he recorded 10 strikeouts. Josh Mackedanz threw 3 innings of relief, he gave up 5 hits and one run, he was the pitcher of record. Trent Gertken went 2- with a home run for 2 RBI’s and Nathan Stang went 1-5 with a RBI. Grant Thompson went 1-5, Chuck Mackedanz went 1-5 and he scored a run, Nick Dingmann went 1-4 and Chris Vanderbeek went 1-5. Brandon Schlepper walked, hit twice by a pitch and scored a run, Russ Leyendecker walked, hit by pitch and he scored a run and Jordan Schlepper earned a walk.

The Royals defeated their Stearns County South rivals the Lakers behind the pitching performance by D. J. Schleicher. He threw a complete game, he scattered 7 hits, 2 walks and 2 strikeouts. Kyle Budde went 3-6, Cole Schmitz went 2-2 with a RBI and 3 walks and Alex Budde went 2-4 with a double for a RBI, he walked and he scored 2 runs. Dusty Adams went 1-4 with a double for a RBI, he walked and he scored 2 runs and Adam Backes went 1-5 with a double for a RBI, he had 2 stolen bases and he scored a run. Brent Ruegemer went 1-4 with a home run, he walked and scored 2 runs, Dan Hanson went 1-4 and Tim Hanson went 1-5.

For the Lakers, Mitch Weidner started on the mound, he threw 4 innings, he gave up 8 hits, 3 walks, 3 runs and he had a strikeout. Weston Brinkman was the pitcher of record, he threw 4 innings, he gave up 2 hits, 4 walks, 2 runs and he had 2 strikeouts. The Saints defeated their Victory League South rivals the Black Sox to earn the No. 2 seed in the Victory League South playoff. John Pogatchnik started on the mound for the Saints, he threw 4 innings, he gave up 9 hits, 5 runs and he had a strikeout. Sam Butler threw 3 innings of relief to earn the win, he gave up 4 hits, 2 walks and he had 3 strikeouts. Ryan Bloomer threw 2 innings, he gave up 1 hit, 1 walk and he hit one batter. Max Posch went 3-4 with a home run for 4 big RBI’s and he walked once and Kyle Jarnot went 2-3 with a sacrifice fly for RBI and he scored 2 runs. Lee Maciej went 2-5 with a double for 3 RBI’s and Ryan Bloomer went 1-1 with a double for 2 RBI’s. Brent VanHeel went 1-3 with a double, one walk and he scored twice and Jake Braegelmann went 1-3 with 2 RBI’s, he walked twice and he was hit by a pitch. The Lakers topped their Victory League South rivals the Black Sox, behind the pitching efforts by Cody Stich. He threw 6 innings, he gave up 6 hits, 3 runs, 2 walks and he recorded 5 strikeouts. Caleb Curry threw inning of relief, he walked two and he hit one batter and Troy Wunderlich threw 2 innings, to earn the save. He gave up 1 hit, 2 walks, 1 run and he had two strikeouts. Carter Holthaus went 1-4 with a double for a RBI and Will Kleinschmidt went 1-4 with a RBI and he scored a run.Josh Becker went 1-4 and Putter Harlander went 1-1 with a RBI. Nate Winter threw one inning of relief, he gave up 3 hits, 1 run and he had 2 strikeouts. Craig Meyer threw one inning of relief, he walked one, gave up a run and he had a strikeout. Grant Hess went 3-3 with a homer for 2 RBI’s and he had 2 walks. Seth Noll went 1-5 with a double and Eric Eveslage went 2-4 with a sacrifice bunt for a RBI and he scored a run. Mitch Waldvogel went 1-4 and he scored a run, Johnny Benson walked and he was hit by a pitch, Troy Frieler and Ike Sawyer both earned walks.

The Poneys topped their Minney league west rival the Bulldogs behind a very good pitching performance by player/manager Jeff Amann. Jeff threw a complete game, he gave up just 4 hits, 1 run, 2 walks and he recorded 10 strikeouts. Austin Timm went 2-4 with a RBI and a stolen base and Matt Maurer went 1-2 with a RBI, he walked and he had a stolen base. Sean Tillman went 1-3 and Alex O’Leary went 1-3 with a double. Chandler Rack went 1-3 with a stolen base and he scored a run, Spencer Timm went 1-1 with sacrifice bunt, he walked and scored a run. Jeff Amann went 1-2 with a sacrifice bunt and he walked and Brandon Reinking earned a walk.

The Poneys topped the Bulldogs for the second time behind the starting pitching by Matt Maurer. Matt threw a complete game, he scattered 6 hits, walked 2, gave up 4 runs and he recorded 8 strikeouts. Sean Tillman went 2-3 with 2 doubles for 2 RBI’s, he walked and he scored a run. Austin Timm went 1-2, with a sacrifice fly for 2 RBI’s, he was hit by a pitch and he scored 2 runs. Jake Wenzel went 1-2 with 2 walks, 2 stolen bases and he scored 3 runs. Matt Maurer went 1-1 with 3 walks and he scored 3 runs and Chandler Rask went 1-3 with a walk, stolen base and he scored a run. The Blue Devils topped their Eastern Minney rivals, backed by the pitching performance by Ryan VanSomerun, he threw 7 innings and Matt VanSomeren threw the final 2 innings in relief. Dylan Graves had a big game, he went 3-5 with a home run and a double for 3 RBI’s and he scored 3 runs. Logan Orazem went 2-5 with 2 RBI’s and he scored a run and Matthew Peters went 4-5 with a RBI and he scored. Derek Graves went 2-5 with a RBI and he scored 2 runs and Ryan VanSomerun went 2-6 with a double and he scored 2 runs.

For the Stone Poneys, Nathan Nierenhausen, was their pitcher of record, he threw 8 innings. Sean Tillman went 2-3 with a home run, he walked and scored a run and Matt Maurer went 2-3 with a RBI and he walked. The Springers topped the Cardinals of the Classic Cannon Valley league. The Cardinals are 8-4 in third place, behind Miesville at 12-2 and Dundas at 8-3. Jack Arnold started on the mound for the Springers and he threw a complete game. Jack scattered 4 hits, walked 3 and he recorded 4 strikeouts. The Springers scored a run in the 3rd inning, Brian Hanson’s single drove in Justin Thompson. In the 7th inning Justin Thompson had a big double to drive in Brad Olson for the winning run. Justin Thompson went 1-2 with a double and he walked and Brian Hanson went 1-3 with a a stolen base. Mathias Butala went 1-2 with a double, Brad Olson walked and scored the winning run and Garrett Fuchs earned a walk.

For the Cardinals, Marcus Fredrickson started on the mound and he threw all 7 innings. The Cardinals scored a unearned run in the 4th inning. No information on who got the 4 Cardinals hits.

ELKO EXPRESS 4 COLD SPRING SPRINGERS 3 (7/9/16 @ Shakopee)

The Springers dropped a close one to the Express of Elko, leaving the potential tieing run on 3rd base in the top of the 7th inning. The Express play in the Dakota/Rice/Scott (DRS) League, they are in 1st place with a 9-1 mark. The DRS league is made up of 13 teams from the Southern Metro area. They were ranked No. 6 in the Class B state.  Nick Dorfman started on the mound for the Express, he threw 6 innings to earn the win. Dylan Thomas threw the final inning of relief and he earned the save. Justin Thompson started on the mound for the Springers and he threw a complete game. He did give up 6 hits, 4 runs, 3 earned runs, no walks and he recorded 5 strikeouts. He gave up 3 of the hits and 3 runs in the 2nd inning to the Express, outside of the 2nd inning, he had a very impressive performance. Brain Hanson went 3-4 with a home run, a stolen base and he scored 2 runs. Jeron Terres went 1-3 with a RBI and Alex Jungels went 2-3 and he scored a run. Eric Loxtercamp went 1-2 and Garrett Fuchs had a RBI on a fielders choice.

COLD SPRING SPRINGERS 4  JORDAN BREWERS 1 (7/9/16 @ Jordan)

The Springers topped the Brewers of the River Valley League (RVL) with 4 big runs in the 1st inning. The Brewers are in 1st place in the RVL with a 8-1 record, mostly teams from the West metro area. The Brewers ranked 9 in the state Class C polls and have been ranked as high as second this season. For the Springers, Chris Butala started on the mound, he threw a complete game, scattering 8 hits, walked one and he had 2 strikeouts. The Springers had 8 individuals that collected hits in the Brewer game, Brad Olson went 1-3 with a RBI and Jeron Terres went 1-3 with a RBI. Ryan Holthaus went 1-2 with a RBI and Alex Jungels went 1-3 with a sacrifice fly for a RBI. Tyler Geislinger went 1-2 with a double and he walked and Eric Loxtercamp went 1-3 and he scored a run. Garrett Fuchs went 1-3 and he scored a run and Brian Hanson went 1-3 and he scored a run.

For the Brewers, Dillon Lee started on the mound, he threw all 7 innings, he gave up 8 hits, 1 walk and he had 3 strikeouts.  Joe Lucas went 1-3 with a sacrifice bunt and Mitch Ries went 3-3. Jake Lucas went 1-2 with a double and he walked, John Draheim went 1-3 and Scott Hollingsworth went 1-3.

COLD SPRING SPRINGERS 3 RAYMOND ROCKETS 2 (7/10/16 @ Shakopee)

The Springers defeated the Rockets of the Corn Belt League, 1st in their 6 team league with a 11-3 record. The Springers did come from behind to earn to the win. The Rockets got on the board in the 3rd inning and the Springers put up 3 runs in the top of the 4th inning. The Rockets did put up another run in the bottom of the 5th inning. The Springers, Mathias Butala started on the mound, he threw 1 inning, he gave up 2 hits. Drew VanLoy threw 6 innings of relief to earn the win, he scattered 6 hits, no walks and he recorded 4 strikeouts. Zach Hinkemeyer went 2-3 with a big base hit to drive in 2 runs in the 4th inning. Brain Hanson went 1-3 to drive in pinch runner Nate Hinkemeyer, he walked and he had a stolen base. Garrett Fuchs went 2-4 and Alex Jungels went 1-4 with a stolen base and he scored a run and Tyler Geislinger went 1-2 with a walk and he scored a run. Ryan Holthaus went 1-2, again he called a great game from the behind the plate, he is the Springers best friend.

For the Rockets, Tyler Knott started on the mound, he threw a complete game. The former St. Cloud State Husky gave up 9 hits, 2 walks and he had 3 strikeouts. Mike Jeseritz went 2-4 with a home run and Kyle Knott went 2-3. Brett Swanson went 1-2, Cole Christianson went 1-3 and Eric Hulterstrum went 1-4.

 The Springers defeated their Central Ridge foe the Polecats, back by the a good pitching effort by veteran right hander, Drew VanLoy. Drew threw all 7 innings, he scattered 5 hits,  no walks and he recorded 4 strikeouts. Brian Hanson had a big game, he went 3-3 with a double for 3 RBI’s, walked twice, had 2 stolen bases and he scored 3 runs. Jeron Terres went 2-5 with 3 RBI’s and Garrett Fuchs went 2-3 with a double for a RBI, he walked and had 2 stolen bases. Drew VanLoy went 1-3 with a sacrifice fly for a RBI and Jack Arnold went 1- 4 with a RBI. Jordan Barth went 1-2 with a big RBI, his walk off single ended the game by the 10 run rule. Justin Thompson walked twice, he was hit by a pitch and he scored a run. Alex Jungels, walked, had a stolen base and he scored a run, Nick Penick had a stolen base and he scored a run, Drew Bulson walked and he scored and Chris Butala scored a run. 

For the Polecats Michael Revenig started on the mound, he threw 4 innings, he was their pitcher of record. Tanner Eckhert threw 1 innings of relief and Mike Terres threw 2 innings of relief. Michael Olson went 2-3 and Michael Revenig went 1-3 with a stolen base. Joe Tupy went 1-3 and Braydon Hanson went 1-3 for the Polecats.

SAUK RAPIDS CYCLONES 15   ALBERTVILLE VILLAINS 0 (7 Innings) 7/6/16 @ Sauk Rapids)

The Cyclones defeated their Central Ridge foe the Villains with a 16 hit attack and a good pitching performance by three right handers. Nate Freihammer started on the mound for the Cylcones, he threw 4 innings to earn the win. He scattered 4 hits, no walks and he recorded 2 strikeouts. Brett Degagne threw 2 innings of relief, he walked one and he recorded 3 strikeouts. The 6’9 veteran right hander, Jeff Hille threw the final inning in relief, he faced just 3 batters, he recorded one strikeout. Joel Haller had a big game, he went 4-5 with a double for 3 RBI’s and he scored 2 runs. Tyler Long had a good game, he went 3-4 with 3 RBI’s, 1 walk, 1 stolen base and he scored 3 runs. Paul Schlangen went 2-2 with a walk, he was hit by a pitch twice and he scored 3 runs. Tyler Bjork went 1-2 with a double and a sacrifice fly for a RBI, he walked twice and he scored 3 runs. Evan Warnert went 2-3 and he scored a run and Spencer Braun went 1-3 with a double and he scored a run. Mitch Loegering went 1-5 and he scored a run and Lucas Bentrud went 1-4. Zach Fuecker a high school All Star performer went 1-3 with his first amateur home run, a 3 run homer to right field.

For the Villains,  Brandon Berning started on the mound and he was the pitcher of record. Keith Bistodeau went 2-3, Trent Vogt went 1-3 and Brandon Berning went 1-3 for the Villians.

ST. AUGUSTA GUSSIES 3  ST. JOSEPH JOES 1  (7/6/16 @ St. Joseph)

The Gussies of the Central Valley League topped their Sauk Valley rivals the Joes in a very well played game. Travis Laudenbach, started on the mound, he threw 6 innings, he gave up 5 hits, 3 walks, one run and he recorded 3 strikeouts. Luke Richardson threw 2 innings of relief, he walked 2 and he had 2 strikeouts, Zach Laudenbach threw 1 inning of relief to earn the save. Mitch Gwost went 3-4 with a RBI and he had a stolen base and Aaron Fruth went 1-4 with a RBI and he scored a run. Nate Laudenbach went 1-2 with a sacrifice fly for a RBI and Logan Aleshire went 2-5. Marcus Lommel, walked had a stolen base and he scored a run, Brady Grafft walked twice and Eric Primus was hit by a pitch.

For the Joes, Jack Atkinson started on the mound, he threw all 9 innings. He gave up 7 hits, 4 walks and he recorded 7 strikeouts. Peter Nelson went 1-3 with a walk and he scored a run and Ben Berschied went 1-3 with a walk and he had 2 stolen bases. The Flames of the Stearns County south division defeated the foe from the Central Valley the Lakers. Chad Mergen started on the mound, he went 4 innings, gave up no hits, no walks, he faced just 14 batters, to earn the win. Brent Mergen threw 3 innings of relief, he gave up just 2 hits, 2 runs, 1 walk and he recorded 2 strikeouts. Cody Fourre and Dylan Panek both threw both threw 1 inning of relief. The Flames had everyone play in this game, Kyle Zierden went 2-2 and scored a run and Max Carlson went 1-3 with a stolen base. Tyler Schroeder went 1-3 with a RBI and he scored a run and Dylan Panek went 1-3 with a stolen base. Chris Westler went 1-2 with a home run and Brad Mergen went 1-1 with a double for a RBI and he scored a run. Craig Klein went 1-1 with a double and Brent Mergen went 1-3 with a RBI and he walked. Eric Schmitt went 1-3 with a RBI and Cody Fourre went 1-1 with a walk. Kyle Leiser walked twice and he scored a run and Josh Linn walked and he scored a run.

The Clippers topped their Lake and Pine league foe the Gnats, backed by the very good pitching effort by Matt Geislinger. Matt threw 6 innings, he gave up just 3 hits, 1 walk and he recorded 9 strikeouts. Dan Berg threw 3 innings of relief, he didn’t give up a hit or a walk and he recorded 5 strikeouts. Dan Berg had a good day overall, he went 3-5 with 3 RBI’s and he scored a run. Brandon Ashton went 1-4 with 2 RBI’s and Kevin Kramer went 1-4 with a triple for a RBI, he walked and scored a run. Gary Peters went 2-3 with a double, he walked and he scored 3 runs and Rob Dobozinski went 1-4. Heath Kramer went 1-2, Travis Linn earned 2 walks and Brian Benson earned one walk.

For the Gnats, Alex Brockpahler started on the mound and he was the pitcher of record. Gunner Johnson went 2-4, Paul Funk went 1-4 with a stolen base and Beau Mertens earned a walk.

The Lakers topped their River Valley foe the Arlington “A” behind a trio of pitchers and some timely hitting. The “A” are currently No. 3 in their league (6-4) a nine team league, behind Jordan and St. Peter. Putter Harlander started and he threw 3 innings, he gave up 1 hit, 1 walk, 1 run and he recorded 3 strikeouts. Shane Olmscheid threw 3 innings, he gave up 2 hits, 6 walks, 3 runs and he had 3 strikeouts. Will Kleinschmidt threw 3 innings, he gave up just 1 hit, no runs, 1 walk and he had 1 strikeout. Caleb Curry went 2-3 with a double for a RBI, he was it by a pitch, had a stolen base and he scored a run. Riley Voit went 1-4 with 2 RBI’s and he had a stolen base and he scored a run and Josh Becker went 2-4 and he scored a run. Conner Huberty went 1-3 with a RBI, stolen base and he scored a run and Putter Harlander went 1-1. Kenny Weber went 1-2 with a stolen base, Adam Harlander walked twice, had a stolen base and he scored a run and Zac Tomsche walked twice and he had a stolen base.

For the “A” Matt Pickelman started on the mound and he was the pitcher of record. Nathan Hemke went 1-3, walked twice and he scored a run, Nathan Thomas went 1-2 with 2 walks and he scored 2 runs and Lukas Bullert went 1-3 with a sacrifice bunt and he scored 2 runs. 

LONG PRAIRIE PREDATORS 3  FREEPORT BLACK SOX 2 (7/8/16 @ Freeport)

The Predators of the Resorters League topped the Black Sox of the Victory league, behind the pitching efforts by Eric Hinnenkamp and Duane Miller. Eric threw 6 1/3 innings and Duane threw 2 2/3 innings to earn the win. Logan Riedel went 2-5 with a triple and he scored a run and Trent Johnson went 2-5 with a double for a RBI and he walked and scored a run. Duane Miller went 1-3 with a double and a sacrifice fly for 2 RBI’s and Austin Kaiser went 1-4, Noah Urman went 1-4 and Tommy Geiserhoff went 1-4 and he scored a run.

For the Sox, Mitch Reller started on the mound, he threw 7 innings and he was the pitcher of record. He gave up just 3 hits, 2 walks and he record 6 strikeouts. Johnny Benson threw 2 innings of relief. Troy Frieler went 3-5 with a double for a RBI and Seth Noll went 1-4 and he scored a run. Ryan Tschida went 1-4 with a walk and a stolen base and Mitch Waldvogel walked, he a stolen base and he scored a run.
