Minutes of the MBA June 14, 2014 Meeting

Saturday, June 14, 2014 

Holiday Inn, St. Cloud, MN 

Meeting called to order by President Richter at 11:00 AM

There were eight dedicated people in attendance.

Roll call showed all board members present with the exception of Tom Rademacher

Motion Brennan, second Barry, carried to approve the minutes of the previous meeting

Dennis Lawson representing Belle Plaine/Jordan and Mike Keenan representing Le Sueur presented details regarding progress on projects, field maintenance and other components pertaining to the 2014 MBA State Tournament.

Motion Roufs, second Zellmann, vote carried 6-2 to suspend Eric Simmons, Hamel Hawks, for one year as an illegal player based on Hamel playing him in two games due to a residency issue.  Hamel’s roster will be frozen and will not be eligible for post season play for the 2014 season and must petition for reinstatement for 2015.  Barry and Hartmann voting no.

Motion Forsman, second Kreger, carried to reinstate Bryce Brahaum making him eligible to play for St. Anthony

Motion Forsman, second Barry, carried to approve Watkin’s tournament sanction for their tournament 6/13-6/15

Motion Brennan, second Roufs, carried to approve the Northwest Border League requests radius extension (to 45 miles) for the 2014 season.

Motion Forsman, second Zellman, carried to approve the Lake & Pine Northeast League’s requests to play against regional opponents during regular season and count towards playoff eligibility (4 games).  This includes the Norman Polk and Northwest Border leagues.

Motion Barry, second Roufs, carried to approve the Cannon Valley League’s request to add 6 games against Class B opponents during the regular season and count towards playoff eligibility (4 games).  The teams must submit their schedule to Secretary Hartmann for final review and approval.

Motion Kreger, second Roufs carried to approve the following players to play out of state and with their MBA teams: Vinnie Van Engelenburg to play for the Des Moines Hitmen and New Richland.  Derek Zitzow, Detroit Lakes, to play for Jamestown Merchants and Detroit Lakes.  Mitch Madder to play for Plum City,WI and Red Wing. 

It is duly noted that the following players notified the MBA of their desire to play in a collegiate wood bat league and return to play with their respective teams provided that they play in 4 league game for playoff eligibility:

Trevor Jaunich, Delano to play for the St. Cloud Rox

Zack Muckenhirn, Delano to play with Alexandria Blue Anchors

Logan Spitzack, Austin Greyhounds to play for Rochester Honkers

Jason Shaul, New Ulm Brewers, to play in the Northwoods League

Zach Hoffmann, New Ulm Brewers, to play in the Kansas wood bat league

Joey Hanowski, Sobieski Skis, to play for the Willmar Stingers

Lucas Herd, Mankato Mets, to play for the Alexandria Blue Anchors

Travis Evanson, Elko, to play for the Rochester Honkers

Ryan Diers, Belle Plaine Tigers, to play for the Rochester Honkers

Tyler Wolfe, Delano, to play for the Omaha Diamond Spirit

Brandon Arnold, Victoria, to play for Thunder Bay

Rollie Lacey, Victoria, to play with Adirondack Valley of the Perfect Game

Eric Loxtercamp, Cold Spring Springers, to play with the St. Cloud Rox

Ty Buck, Red Wing, to play with the Ohio Warhawks

Ryan Boldt, Red Wing, to play with the Rochester Honkers

Reese Gregory, St. Cloud Beaudreau’s Saints, to play for the St. Cloud Rox

Sam Maus, Northfield, to play for the St. Paul Saints

Sean Terres, Cold Spring Springers, to play for the Alexandria Blue Anchors

Tyler Brekke, Elko, to play for the Alexandria Blue Anchors

Hunter Kruse, Winona requests to play in the Arizona Wood Bat League

It was duly noted that Andy Henkemeyer was released from the St. Paul Saints and will return to the Sauk Rapids Cyclones.

Motion Barry, second Zellmann carried to allow the following teams to play Non-MBA teams:

Quamba, to play St. Croix Falls, WI 5/21

PHD Mudhens to play the following Wisconsin teams: Osceola Braves, Ellsworth Hubbers, Hager City Skeeters, Spring Valley Hawks and the Spooner Cardinals

Twin City Saints to play Spring Valley, WI 5/25 and play in the Spooner, WI tournament 7/12-7/13

Austin Greyhounds to play Southern Minny 35+ team 5/30 and Chaseburg-Coon Valley Blues 6/6

Luverne Redbirds, to play Coleman, SD 7/11

Pelican Rapids, to play Kindred Kings, ND 6/11 and New Rockford, ND 7/12

Motion Roufs, second Kreger carried to allow Kris Long to return to the Rochester Royals using the Heritage Rule

Motion Forsman, second Richter, carried to allow Wade Rignell to return to Hadley under the Heritage Rule

Motion Forsman, second Barry carried to allow Shane Bushland to play for the Moorhead Brewers under the Heritage Rule

It was duly noted to approve 13/60 League’s playoff request for their restructured playoffs due to losing two teams, Cleveland and Lake Crystal in the 13/60 Blue League

Motion Zellmann, second Forsman, carried to approve Austin Malinowski’s, request to play in Class A with Continental Diamond Cutters

Motion Forsman, second Roufs, carried to approve Erik Nockleby’s request to play in Class A with the Tri-City Shark

Motion Forsman, second Roufs, carried to allow Jade LeCoch and Ronald Keur’s requests to play with Hinckley

It was duly noted that Adam Hemmesch requested wood bat specifications for the purpose of manufacturing bats

Motion Barry, second Kreger carried to grant Nicholas DeVries his release from Eagle Lake to allow him to play for the Shakopee Indians

Motion Barry, second Brennan, carried to approve the Swanville Swans request for $4,000 from the revolving loan fund

Perham Pirates withdrew their appeal to discuss the ineligibility of Eric Hendrickx and Perham’s ban on post season play.

Motion Brennan, second Kreger carried to adjourn with no further business to discuss at 2:15 pm

 Next regularly scheduled MBA Board Meeting will be on Saturday, July 12th at the Home Town Inn in Belle Plaine
