July 13 MBA Board meeting minutes

The V by HH – Maple Lake, MN

Time:  1:00 PM

Meeting called to order by President Richter at 1:05 PM

There were seven dedicated baseball people in attendance

Roll call showed that all board members were present. 

Motion Brennan, seconded Rademacher, carried, to approve the minutes of the previous meeting

Jeff Janzen and Steve Eilen, Delano and Daryl Hennen, Maple Lake gave an update on the 2013 MBA State Tournament and indicated that they are in the final preparation and everything is good to go. 

Met with Class B Super Section representatives to review the expectations for each respective Section.  Jason Drake, representing Moorhead, Steve Serratore, representing Austin, and Mike Poppitz, representing Victoria were present to discuss the details of managing each Section.  Sean Culhane was unable attend the meeting.  Items discussed are as follows :

– Scheduling format

– Fields and field maintenance

– Baseballs to be used ($200 per site allocated for baseballs) There are (4) approved baseballs that can be used for the tournament.  Austin will be using the Rawlings ROML baseball and Victoria, Moorhead and Marshall will be using the Diamond D1 Pro.

– Umpire scheduling – Each site is responsible to contract umpires for each respective Section.

– Host sites will also be responsible for ticket takers and the accounting for the Super Section.  Ticket prices were set at $5 for adults, $3 for students ages 12-18, and children under 12 – free. Financial reporting to be submitted to MBA Secretary.

– Host sites to report scores to Star Tribune and local media.

Motion Barry, seconded Rademacher, carried, to approve the following teams to play Non-MBA teams:

-Northfield to play Spooner, WI 7/16

-Adrian A’s to play Sioux City, IA 6/29 and 7/24

-Hastings Hawks to play Plum City, WI 7/24

-Crookston Reds to play Larimore, ND

Motion Zellmann, seconded Kreger, carried to approve the following players to play in wood bats leagues:

Ty Buck, Red Wing Aces, to play with Ohio Warbucks

Steven Kraemer, Wilmont Cardinals, to play for Alexandria of the Northwoods League

Jake Bergen, St. Paul Capitals, to play for Alexandria of the Northwoods League

Jared Watts, St. Paul Capitals, to play with the Rochester of the Northwoods League

Jason Shaul, New Ulm Brewers, to play with Thunder Bay of the Northwoods League

Garrett Fischer, New Ulm Brewers, to return to play after Northwoods League

Collin Wedinger, New Ulm Brewers, released from the Northwoods League to return to play with Brewers

Eldon Evans, Montevideo Spartans, to play with Alexandria of the Northwoods League

Kyle Kingsley, Moorhead Brewers, to play with Taos Blizzard of the Pecos Independent League

Parker Trewin, Moorhead Brewers, to play with Duluth of the Northwoods League

Jay Flaa, Moorhead Brewers, to play with St. Cloud of the Northwoods League

Tyler Wolfe, Delane, to play with Lakeshore of the Northwoods League

Tyson Sonnenburg, Minneota Mudhens to play for Portland Mariners of the NWIBL located in Portland, Oregon

Josh Schull, Minnesota Lake, to play with Duluth of the Northwoods League

Eric Loxenkamp, Cold Spring Springers to play with St. Cloud of the Northwoods League 

Motion Zellmann, seconded Barry, carried, to allow TJ Cunningham, Red Wing Aces, to play for both Red Wing and Bay City, WI

OLD BUSINESS – Fred Roufs brought up the fact that he had some concerns about the three site bid from Hamburg/Norwood/Green Isle.  There was some discussion regarding expectations of ALL of the sites and what the proposed schedule for the tournament would be.  Joe Kreger, representing the Hamburg/Norwood/Green Isle site stated that all sites would be compliant for the tournament.

NEW BUSINESS – Joe Kreger brought up a fund raising opportunity for the MBA and each affiliated team.  It is called I-texts Charitable Revenue Sharing Program.  It was decided to review the program in more depth and discuss it at our annual meeting in October. 

With no further business, motion Brennan, seconded Rademacher, carried to adjourn at 3:05 PM

Next MBA meeting is scheduled for Friday, August 16th at the Maple Lake Legion in Maple Lake at 12:00 PM (noon).
