Big Lake 6, Miltona 5 @ Brownton  (11 innings)

Matt Loegering snuck a single between the first and second basemen in the bottom of the 11th inning to score Ross Stein with the winning run and eliminate Miltona from the tournament. Stein had reached on a walk and went to second on a wild pitch.

Both teams scored in the first. Ryan Emtere lead off the game and reached on an error by the second baseman for Miltona. After he was sacrificed to second, he came around to score on a wild pitch. Big Lake scored two in their half on an RBI double by Dave Burkholder. He too came around to score on a wild pitch.

Miltona went ahead in the third scoring two runs on a sacrifice fly by Jake Leuschke and an RBI single by Shawn Krueger.

Big Lake came back in the sixth scoring two one on a squeeze bunt by Josh Ledin and and Justin Haag scored on a passed ball.

Miltona scored a run in the eighth and ninth to go ahead by one going into the bottom of the ninth. Trey Thompson and Jake Leuschke both had RBI singles. In the bottom of th ninth, Big Lake scored when Burkholder started it out with a single, Ross Stein was hit by a pitch, Matt Loegering singled and Burkholder scored when Justin Haag reached on an error by the shortstop.

Ben Bruggerman threw the whole game for Miltona getting the loss. Matt Loegering got the win in relief of Mike Smith the starter and Alex Stein in first relief. Big Lake will play the winner of the Mankato Mets/Nisswas game on Sunday at 1:00 P.M. in Glencoe.

Mankato Mets 4, Nisswa 2 @ Brownton

Mankato scored one run in each of the second, third, fourth and ninth innings while holding Nisswa to solo runs in the fifth and seventh to pull out a 4-2 win. The loss eliminates Nisswa.

In the second, Jay Anderson doubled and Jake Krier scored him on a ground out. In the third, Mitch Stolt singled and ended up scoring on an RBI by Ben Smith. In the fourth, Derek Quame singled, was sacrificed to second and scored on a Mitch Stolt double.

Nisswa scored one in the fifth on a Brandon Hilts single and Drew Boland RBI single. In the seventh, Nisswa scored when Hilts reached on an error and Brett Jenkins doubled him in.

Mankato added an insurance run in the ninth when Sam Stier singled, Alex Smith singled and Stier scored on an error by the Nisswa pitcher.

Kelvin Nelson got the win for Mankato throwing 8 innings, giving up 5 hits, 2 runs, 1 earned run, 4 walks and 10 strike outs. Jason Roepke was the loser for Nisswa.

Isanti 11, Waconia 5 @ Glencoe

Waconia jumped to a one run lead in their first inning on a Ben Smothers single, stolen base, base hit by Chris Bullis and a sacrifice fly by Jeremy Salden. That lead was short lived however, as Isanti answered with five in their half.

Packy Lind was hit by a pitch, Eric Rysdam singled, Kyle Johnson hit an RBI single, Tyler Schoff reached on an error by the shortstop loading the bases and Brian Schulte hit a fly to left center that the centerfielder couldn’t handle scoring all three. Wyatt Soderquist singled in Schulte for the fifth run of the inning.

Ben Smothers, Waconia and Eric Rysdam, Isanti both hit solo home runs in the fourth inning.

Isanti scored in every inning except the second and the eighth. Joe Ramberg was the winning pitcher for Isanti throwing 8 innings giving up 5 runs on 8 hits with 4 walks and 7 strike outs. Tony Wischnack was the losing pitcher for Waconia.

Waconia will play on Sunday, September 4 at 4:00 P.M. vs the winner of the 1:00 P.M. game which pits Big Lake against the Mankato Mets.
