This week’s rankings produced some major shakeups at the top with Sobieski rising to the No. 1 spot following Kimball’s 1-0 loss to Watkins. Bemidji also climbed to the No. 2 spot though it had the same amount of points as Sobieski, the Skis’ third vote came in higher than the Blue Ox’s third vote. Sobieski is 4-0 while Bemidji blew out Park Rapids and Crookston, which was a rematch of last year’s Region 10C championship.

Kimball fell in its first game of the season to Watkins ace Matt Geislinger but has won its last two, including a 7-6 win on a squeeze bunt in the ninth against Pearl Lake. The Express face Lake Henry Saturday in a rematch of the Class C state title game at Target Field in the Town Ball Classic.

Sartell rose to No. 3 after starting the season 4-0.

Speaking of Lake Henry, the Lakers, come in ranked No. 5 this week after losing to St. Martin 6-0 to start the season. Lake Henryhas gone on a three-game winning streak since that.

Carver moved up four spots in this week’s poll to No. 6 after beating Crow River Valley League rivals Green Isle and Plato in succession.

Raymond climbed up to No. 7 since the Rockets have posted consecutive wins following a 6-4 season-opening loss to the Cold Spring Springers.

Watkins crept into the top 10 at No. 8 behind the strength of its 1-0 win over Kimball, with pitching like the Clippers have, they’ll likely stay in the top 10.

Green Isle and Maple Lake tied for the No. 9 spot while an undefeated Elrosa rose to No. 10. The Saints have a big test with Lake Henry Friday in the Stearns County League.

5. Carver Black Sox – Another team off to a good start, Carver is 4-0 in the Crow River Valley South.

1. Sartell Muskies – Unblemished on the young season, a proven contender in years past.

2. Bemidji Blue Ox – Just getting their season underway and looking to dominate the northern part of the state.

3. Kimball Express – Defending state champs ran into a gem of a game pitched by Matt Geislinger of Watkins to lose in the ninth inning 1-0. They have the Town Ball Classic and rematch with the Lake Henry Lakers on Saturday. Looking forward to that one.

4. Sobieski Skis – Clicking right along in the Victory League with a good start at 4-0.

5. Carver Black Sox – Currently 4-1 with their only loss to Baseball 365, more impressive, is the defeating of two league rivals the Green Isle Irish and Plato Blue Jays on consecutive days this past weekend. Only remaining undefeated team in the CRVL South.

6. Lake Henry Lakers – Currently sitting at 3-1 but have two big tests coming up this weekend, first Friday night with league rival Elrosa Saints, and then on Saturday the rematch with the Kimball Express. This weekend will answer a lot of questions regarding the Lakers.

7. Elrosa Saints – Currently sitting at 5-0 in the Stearns County League and looking forward to their matchup with Lake Henry on Friday!

8. Shakopee Coyotes – Doing well in the DRS at 5-1, pretty good start for a state tourney host team.

9. Waconia Lakers – So far the lone remaining undefeated team in the CRVL North at 3-0 with a combined score of those games of 39-6. With the young talent and veteran leadership this is a dangerous team.

10. Fergus Falls Hurricanes – Starting their 2018 campaign off with a bang at 3-0. Looking forward to seeing how they fare in 2018.
