Coon Rapids’ glow from a 3-2 upset of four-time defending Class B champion Chanhassen on Aug. 20 didn’t last long.

Rochester hit three home runs to beat the Coon Rapids Redbirds 6-2 on Saturday at Jack Ruhr Field in Miesville. Bo MClintock got things started for the Royals with a solo home run in the second inning. It nearly became 2-0 Royals in the inning before a center field grab by Coon Rapids.

Play halted for two hours due to a rain delay, but the Redbirds couldn’t regroup against the Royals. The Redbirds came away empty inning after inning against Royals pitcher Matt Meyer. He struck out 15 in the complete-game victory.
