Sebastian Holte-Mancera is in just his second year with Miesville but he cemented himself as a postseason veteran, and an actual one, Brian Sprout, delivered in a big spot Sunday in Green Isle to send the Mudhens back to the Class B championship game.

Holte-Mancera hit a three-run homer in the second inning and Sprout hit a bases-loaded double to score three runs in the bottom of the eighth to lead Miesville to a 6-3 victory over Moorhead in a rematch of last year’s championship game. The defending champion Mudhens will meet Chanhassen Monday at noon in Hamburg to decide the state title.

Holte-Mancera supplied the big hit, a shot to right field that brought in Sprout and Nate Hammes. It set up a rematch with Chanhassen Monday at noon at Hamburg. The Red Birds beat the Mudhens 5-2 Saturday. Miesville will need to win twice to claim a second straight championship.

Moorhead, which reached the championship game in 2015 as well, started to plug away at the three-run deficit with a run in the third and a in the fifth. Derek Dormanen scored on a single from Tanner Adam after Dormanen walked to start the inning.

Adam got things going in the sixth with a lead-off double and scored on Mike Peschel’s ground out to second base to make it a 3-2 game. Adam finished 3-for-4 with two runs and an RBI.

The Brewers finally chipped away enough to tie the game in the top of the eighth inning when Chris Coste hit a bases-loaded single to score Adam. But that’s all Moorhead got as Chris Olean came in with one out and the bases loaded and struck out the final two batters to keep it tied. Olean got the win in relief after striking out three of the five batters he faced behind Sprout’s three-run double with two outs in the eighth.

Matt VanDerBosch reached on a bunt single with one out in the eighth and Deryk Marks, the 2016 tournament MVP, doubled. After a walk to Hammes, Sprout lined a ball to the gap in right center field to put the Mudhens back in front.

Marks finished 2-for-4 with a run and VanDerBosch went 2-for-4 with a run. Hammes and Sprout each had two hits.

Shannon Ahern went 7 ⅔ innings and gave up three runs on six hits. He walked one and struck out five.

Kyle Kingsley, who threw the final three innings against Northfield just before facing Miesville, went 7 ⅓ innings and gave up six runs on nine hits. He walked one and struck out two but outside of Holte-Mancera’s home run and Sprout’s double faced few jams.
