Class B Roundup from Shakopee: Outstanding pitching and hitting was too much for Coon Rapids against Miesville

The Mudhens cracked open the door to start the top of the first inning when Joey Werner got a single to get started for Miesville’s run to victory. Tanner Vavra and Nate Hammes then got on with a single that advanced Vavra and got Werner home safe to get the first lead of the game leading 1-0. A groundout by Austin LaDoux scored Vavra, giving the Mudhens a lead 2-0 over the Redbirds to end the first inning.

The Mudhens in the top of the second inning got kicking again from a new name from the 1st inning. Max Gamm got his first hit of the game on a single, and Werner connected with a double; it was enough to score the speedy Gamm, making the Mudhens score 3-0 to start the bottom of the second.

In the fifth inning, the Mudhens came around again for their fouth run of the game caused by Vavra and Joey Werner singled and then after a ground out by Nate Hammes, Werner had the motor to take advantage of the plays going on in the infield to take in the 4th run for Miesville, 4-0.

Brian Sprout homered in the ninth to give the Mudhens more cushion giving them a 5-0 lead that would close the deal for Miesville to advance to round two next weekend.

Jacob Dickmeyer pitched well for Miesville, only allowing four hits to the Redbirds hitters and pitching a complete game shutout on 92 pitches.
