Miesville 3, Chanhassen 2

Austin Murr came through in the clutch for Miesville and sent the Mudhens back to their third straight championship game with his RBI single in the bottom of the eighth inning in a 3-2 victory over Chanhassen in a rematch of the 2017 title game.

Murr’s single scored Brad Goulet, who led off the eighth inning with a single and sent Miesville back to the title game.

Chanhassen trailed 1-0 after the fifth inning when Reed Collins scored on a double play ball but the lead didn’t last long for Miesville.

The Red Birds grabbed a 2-1 lead in the top of the sixth after Brandon Arnold hit a leadoff solo home run and Riley Johnson followed with an RBI double to score Garrett Fischer, who reached after getting hit by a pitch.

The reigning two-time defending Class B champions didn’t waste any time in getting back in the game. Deryk Marks hit a one-out solo home run to left field to tie the game 2-2 in the bottom of the sixth.

Jacob Dickmeyer went 6 ⅔ innings in his start for the Mudhens. He gave up two runs on seven hits. He struck out six and walked two.

Logan Spitzack traded zeroes with Dickmeyer for much of the game. Spitzack went 7 ⅔ innings, gave up three runs on six hits, struck out four and walked one.

Chris Olean came on to close things out for Miesville and allowed just one hit to earn the save after he came in for Steve Maher, who worked 1 ⅓ innings in relief.

The Red Birds will face the winner of Northfield-Moorhead Sunday at 7:30 p.m. in New Prague for a chance to return to the championship game.
