6. Chaska — 10-4, split with Chan and loss to Mankato

7. Mankato — 3-1, solid group of Mavericks, beat Chaska and loss to Shakopee

8. Moorhead—6-3, had a tough road trip down to cities, but still solid team

9. St. Cloud Beaudreau’s—6-2, solid start with very good pitching

10. Shakopee—11-3, just beat Prior Lake and Mankato

Matt Marek – Champlin

1. Elko (19-1) – What a start to the season. 19-1, with a tourney title that featured wins over two ranked B teams. Pair that with a win over also highly ranked Dundas, that’s a recipe for a #1 ranking.

2 (tie) Blaine (11-2) – Another team with a tourney title since the last rankings. Nice win over Isanti on Monday would normally put them at #1.

2. (tie) Cold Spring (9-3) – Remember when I said it would take a lot to knock them out of my top spot? Well, this is more of a product of Elko doing A WHOLE FREAKING LOT to earn their spot atop the polls. To the naked eye, the Raymond loss looks bad, but the Rockets are 16-3.

4. Shakopee (11-3) – Rebounded nicely with an 11-1 mark in their last 12.

5. Victoria (9-2) – Two losses in Morris, albeit to very good Nisswa and Fergus Falls teams, coupled with a win over Lyons Pub has them holding steady at my #5 spot.

6. Dundas (12-4) – Came back to earth a bit with a 2-4 record since 9-0 start. Looking forward to our Fathers’ Day match-up in Dundas!

7. Forest Lake (9-2) – They’ve had some attendance issues of late, it sounds like. That loss to Andover? Woof.

8. Chaska (10-4) – 4-2 since last poll with a win over the Moorhead Brewers.

9. Moorhead (6-3) – Taken care of business against the teams they should have thus far. Had a very competitive three games in three days against Jordan, Chaska and Miesville. One-run, two-run and one-run losses, respectively.

10. Miesville (6-2) – Wins over the St. Paul Capitals and the Shamrocks are something I can get behind.

HM:

Austin Greyhouds (7-1): Narrow loss to Blaine keeps them on the outside looking in.

Beaudreau’s (6-2) – Says something about the strength of B ball when last year’s state runner-ups can’t crack the poll, huh? Keep an eye on their June 17 tilt with the Springers.

Coon Rapids (7-5): I hate bumping them after a win over Lyons Pub, but four games with ranked teams over the next 10 days will give them a chance to jump back in the poll.

Isanti: (7-2): Despite losing some key contributors from last year, off to a great start.

Champlin (12-5): Runner-up at the Highway 55 tourney, losses to 3 ranked A teams, a ranked C team and an Isanti team knocking on the door of the Top 10.

Jamie Heipel – Blaine

1. Blaine ( 11-2 ) Really hitting stride winning New Prague Tournament, great balance of hitting and pitching. Plays in a league that day in and day out takes back seat to nobody, not saying it’s the best but it has won several  tournaments so far.

2. Elko ( 19-1 ) really solid team, mostly play Class “ C “ schedule but they have been winning with authority when given the challenge. Might be the most rounded team to this point.

3. Victoria ( 9-2 ) Scoring a ton of runs, mostly play home games and might prove they are the favorite in “B” at the end ! I am always on their bandwagon because of hitting rarely fails I believe.

4. Cold Spring ( 9-3 ) Hitting stride, will pick it up with upcoming schedule against some recognizable opponents.

5. Forest Lake ( 9-2 ) winning with pitching, offense creeping back to potent status which means problems for opponents in coming month.

6. Austin ( 7-1 ) only loss to Blaine in New Prague Championship ,extra innings. Some nice wins against good teams, youth being tutored by knowledgeable veterans means Hounds are a squad to be reckoned with come section time.

7. Shakopee ( 10-3 ) Playing some great baseball with low numbers, nice wins not to be overshadowed by  embarrassing loss. Fountain of youth lives in Shakopee, as does good baseball!

8. Isanti ( 7-2 ) Very talented team where youth is served, won a Class “ C “ Championship a couple of years ago and compete at high level against the best ‘ B has to offer.

9. Chanhassen – Great foundation with some nice wins over storied programs already, tough schedule coming up which will be a litmus test. Sticking it to Chaska gets them in my top 10 and leaves the Cubs out , for now.

10. Mankato – Great area for ball and it seems yet another team that will compete in probably the toughest section, welcome back !

Just missing my top 10 : Dundas, Champlin, Beaudreaus

Eric Kraushar – Chaska/Chanhassen

1. Elko – no reason to take the Express out of the first spot with a 19-1 record, including a 4-0 mark against Region 1 teams and non-league victories over Coon Rapids and Shakopee

2. Victoria – the Vics have restocked the talent, adding Brendan Dye and Connor Oestrich from Minnetonka HS, Dan Loats from Eden Prairie HS, Carter Schmidt from Chaska HS, and Cole Sweeney, who moves over from Young America. They have the bats to win state again, and pitching is in fine shape led by Corey Binger, Alex Sommer and eventually down the road, Rollie Lacy.

3. Blaine – dropped a game to Anoka, but remains 11-2 with a 3-1 record in the Metro Minny. Beat a solid St. Francis squad in a late rally over the weekend.

4. Cold Spring – after a slow start (4-3), the Springers have won five straight contests

5. Forest Lake – another great start (9-2 overall) at 4-1 in the Metro Minny

6. Chaska – 10-4 record with losses to Class A Minnetonka, Plato, and most recently Chanhassen and Jordan. Chase Hentges has been a huge pick-up both on mound and at plate

7. Champlin – Nice win over St. Michael over the weekend puts them at 12-5 overall

8. Austin Greyhounds – 5-1 start with a lone loss to Blaine.

9. Dundas – Suffered three-game losing streak after 11-1 start. Now 12-4 overall, including defeat to Austin Greyhounds.

10. Beaudreau’s Saints – 6-2 start
