Class B rankings – Aug. 4

Posted on Aug. 4, 2014 by CJ Siewert

In light of the Class B state tournament featuring 16 teams, we have decided to expand our rankings from ten to 16 teams.

We also welcome Adam Gallatin, the Section 8 commissioner, to the ranking committee.

These are the last rankings of the season for Class B.

Erik Krauschar – Chaska

1. Victoria (22-5 overall) – No. 1 seed locked up in Region 3B – young arms have showed up

5. Moorhead Brewers (26-4 overall) – won 11 of last 12 games, No. 1 seed in Region 6B

1. Victoria (22-5, LW: 2) – Take back the top spot with two wins over Chaska and a win over Shakopee. Top seed in section 3.

2. Moorhead (26-4, LW: 3) – One loss since the end of June. Nice win over Maple Lake a couple of weeks ago.

3. Forest Lake (25-6, LW: 9) – Biggest mover, and for good reason. Won seven of last eight, 16 of 18 since bad outing at Spamtown

4. Blaine (31-6, LW: 4) – Stand pat after 8-2 finish to the season. Loss to FL last week prevents them from moving up. Post-legion addition in Alex Boxwell bolsts the stable of players.

5. Cold Spring (22-6, LW: 5) – Maybe I’m selling ‘em a bit short, but I’m sure they’ll prove me wrong come state tournament time.

6. Shakopee (22-9, LW: 6) – Five straight wins to end the season, including one apiece vs. Chaska and Victoria.

7. Chaska (25-10, LW 1) – Huge slide for the Cubbies, as they’ve lost five of last six-coupled with some hot finishes among the other top-10 teams

8. Elko – (32-8, LW: 7) – Most wins in all of Class B, and big win against Minnetonka on Sunday. Heavy ‘C’ schedule (almost half).
