Class B preseason rankings

Last week we released the preseason Class C rankings. This week it’s Class B’s turn.

This season’s Class B ranking committee includes Eric Kraushar of Chaska, Kelly McMonagle of Moorhead, Aaron Olson of Shakopee and Jamie Heipel of Blaine.

The four committee members will rank their top 10 every other Friday. The No. 1 team receives 10 points all the way down to one point for the No. 10 team. Those points are then totaled up to compile the overall rankings.

Without further ado, here are the 2014 preseason Class B rankings.  

Eric Kraushar (Chaska)

1. Cold Spring Springers – they’re No. 1 until someone beats them

2. Victoria Vic’s – dominating line-up; 2012 champs will look for improved young arms

3. Austin Greyhounds – nice run in 2013; best “B” in southern MN

4. Savage Outlaws – reached potential in 2013, should build off of that

5. Chaska Cubs – one of the best teams until playoff stumble; Will Seifert be back?

6. Shakopee Indians – great post-season run; how long will aging arms hold out?

7. Moorhead Brewers – continue to be NW MN’s top “B” team

8. Blaine Fusion – will this be the year they advance out of Sections?

9. Mankato Mets – this group should make big gains in second year in “B”

10. Dundas Dukes – the best in Section 1 in 2013

Kelly McMonagle (Moorhead)

1.  Cold Spring Springers

2.  Victoria Vic’s

3.  Shakopee Indians

4.  Dundas Dukes

5.  Savage Outlaws

6.  Austin Greyhounds

7.  Red Wing Aces

8.  Blaine Fusion

9.  Coon Rapids Redbirds

Aaron Olson (Shakopee)

1. Cold Spring Springers – Femrite and defending champs

2. Moorhead Brewers – always good and usually add few players each year

3. Shakopee Indians – losing a lot of guys from second place finish in ‘13, but will look to add younger guys to step up

4. Savage Outlaws – tough team that didn’t have full lineup at State last year

5. Victoria Vic’s – play in tough league with ton of talent

6. Eagan Bandits – looked really good at State last year

7. Blaine Fusion – need to get over the edge during August

8. Miesville Mudhens – good team that got knocked out last year

9. Austin Greyhounds – good team that is always at State

10. Red Wing Aces – young team with a ton of talent 

Jamie Heipel (Blaine)

1. Cold Spring Springers – hard to argue with defending champs

2. Shakopee Indians – always solid, great team just missed in ‘13

3. Victoria Vic’s – look for rebound in ’14 play in great league with scary lineup

4. Austin Greyhounds – State power, always. Money team come playoffs

5. Savage Outlaws – talent everywhere, on the cusp 

6. Red Wing Aces – bad weekend of baseball killed what could have been in ‘13

7. Moorhead Brewers – always come to play ball, never over matched

8. Blaine Fusion – new additions, talented, can they finally get over the hump

9. Eagan Bandits – was ‘13 a mirage or new beginning back to the future

10. Coon Rapids and Isanti – really good teams in a strong league

2. Victoria Vic’s – 32

3. Shakopee Indians – 30

4. Savage Outlaws – 26

5. Austin Greyhounds – 22

6. Moorhead Brewers – 17

7. Blaine Fusion – 13

8. Red Wing Aces – 10

9. Dundas Dukes – 8
