Class A Rankings: June 8 Edition

–by Brett Kruschke

A setback against the Class B Miesville Mudhens was not enough to stop the Minnetonka Millers from their third consecutive poll as the unanimous No. 1. The Skyline League pollsters were not able to contribute this time around but should be back for the next go:

JON-ERIC URSETH – Park National League

  1. Minnetonka Millers – (12-1) Lost to Miesville, but still on top.
  2. Lyon’s Pub Warriors – (12-1) Won Elko/New Market Tourney, only loss is to Tonka. Topped Class C #1 New Market.
  3. St. Louis Park – (13-4-1?) 20 HR in 18 games. Strong as ever.
  4. St Paul Capitals – (8-4) Rough go at Elko/New Market but I think it was a fluke.
  5. Continental Diamond Cutters – (4-0-1?) Strong start to the campaign.
  6. Minneapolis Cobras – (9-5) Hit 10 HR over the weekend. Won 5 of last 6.
  7. Red Rooster – (3-0) I think that’s their record. Convincing win over St. Anthony.
  8. St. Paul Shamrocks – (1-1) Too early to drop them very far. Lots of games coming up.
  9. Air Freight Unlimited – I can’t tell if they have played, but have high expectations.
  10. Minneapolis Angels – (7-8) Record is deceiving, beat Cobras and Lakers.

Just out: Minneapolis Lakers, Stockmen’s Irish

PHIL McDERMOTT – St. Paul League

1) Minnetonka Millers (13-1) – only loss to a powerhouse Miesville team, mostly lopsided victories
2) Lyon’s Pub (8-1?) – won the Elko/NM tournament, looks like improved pitching from previous years
3) St. Louis Park (15-4-1) – playing and winning a ton of games, many HRs
4) Minneapolis Cobras (9-5) – scoring a ton of runs and took 3rd in Elko/NM tournament
5) Diamond Cutters (4-0-1) – just getting started but have not lost and once again the favorite to win the skyline
6) St. Paul Capitals (8-4) – a couple bad losses and not playing great baseball right now
7) St. Paul Shamrocks (1-1) – only a couple games so far
8) Air Freight (0-0) – expecting a strong team again in 2016
9) Red Rooster (3-0 league) – solid league record so far
10) Baseball 365 (7-4) – haven’t seen them play, but a good record and some solid early wins

Bubble teams – Stockmen’s Irish, Mpls Lakers, Sport and Spine

MATT PAULSEN – Riverview League

  1. MINNETONKA MILLERS (13-1) – It turns out the Millers are human after all dropping a game at Meisville. Not enough to bump them from number 1.
  2. ST PAUL CAPITALS (8-4) – The Caps also got bumped around a bit this weekend but are still my number 2.
  3. ST LOUIS PARK PIRATES (15-4-1) – Still hitting tons of jacks.
  4. LYONS PUB (?) – Don’t know their record but they seem to be winning a lot based on what everyone else is saying.
  5. MINNEAPOLIS COBRAS (9-5) – Starting to hit their stride. Hit 4 homers in a row the other day. That is cool.
  6. DIAMOND CUTTERS (4-0-1) – Undefeated, maybe they should be higher.
  7. TRI CITY SHARK (?) – Looks like they have won some games but I don’t know for sure.
  8. NORTHWEST ORIOLES (?) – Same thing
  9. MINNEAPOLIS LAKERS (?) – Think they are winning too. Not sure, c’mon man somebody update your websites.
  10. MINNEAPOLIS ANGELS (7-8) – Not a great record but at least I know what it is.
