The Minnesota Baseball Association announced the hiring of CJ Siewert, a native of St. Peter, Minn. and 2011 graduate of Gustavus Adolphus College, as its Website Coordinator.

“We were very impressed with the quality of candidates that showed interest in the position and after interviewing three worthy individuals, CJ stood out as the right man for the job,” MBA Board Director Dave Hartmann said. “We are excited in the direction the MBA website is headed and I think CJ will make an immediate impact in regard to quality content and keeping the information up to date.”

Siewert has worked in the sports information field since January 2010 with various internships and work experiences. He has worked in the Office of Sports Information at Gustavus as a student intern, summer assistant and in his current role as the Assistant to Director of Sports Information. Siewert also interned with the Minnesota Vikings throughout their 2010 season as a website content intern and public relations game day intern.

A member of the St. Peter Saints town team since 2006, Siewert has operated the club’s website since its playoff run to the Class C State Tournament in 2010. In this capacity he also provides coverage of the Saints for the local newspaper – the St. Peter Herald.

Set to begin his duties immediately, Siewert will oversee the entire MBA website. He will provide coverage of Minnesota amateur invitational tournaments as well as the State tourney for Class A, B and C. Other responsibilities will include keeping fresh content on the site with feature stories on players, coaches, umpires and Minnesota amateur baseball as whole, as well as updating each team’s individual page with schedules, rosters and stats.

Baseball runs deep in CJ’s family with two relatives in the Minnesota Amateur Baseball Hall of Fame. His grandfather, Otto “Joe” Siewert (Redwood Falls), was a 1977 inductee and his great-uncle, Martin Siewert (Hamburg), was enshrined in 1991. His father, Jim Siewert, has also been involved in the game as an umpire since 1970.

League officers, section commissioners, team managers, players and fans of the game are encouraged to contact Siewert with information regarding Minnesota amateur baseball and the individuals who have made it what it is today. He will be searching for interest topics across the state with the intention of providing comprehensive and equal coverage of the teams and leagues that comprise the MBA.
