Kimball Express 11 St. Augusta Gussies 0

The Express and the Gussies were locked into in a tight game till the 5th  inning and the bats for the Express woke up as they hit 3 home runs to end this game with the 10 run rule in 7 innings. Matt Dingmann was the winning pitcher, as he threw 6 very good innings, he had 6 strikeouts and gave up 2 hits and 1 walk. Jake Eiler threw one inning of relief, he gave up one hit and one walk. David Joseph had a huge game as he went 2-3 with a big 3 run homer, for 3 big RBI’s. His brother Jordan wasn’t to be out done, as he hit a big 3 run homer also for 3 big RBI’s. Adam Byer went 2-3 with 2 RBI’s and a towering 2 run home run. Scott Marquardt went 2-3 with 1 RBI and 3 runs scored, Zach and Andy Dingmann each had a base hit and Brooks Marquardt scored 2 runs for the Express. The Gussies pitcher of record was Travis Laudenbach, he threw 6 1/3 innings, he gave up 7 hits, 9 runs, 2 walks and he hit 2  batters. Dusty Schultzetenberg went 1-3, as he led the game off with a triple and was left stranded at third base. Aaron Fruth and Nate Gwost collected the other hits for the Gussies.

Watkins Clippers 11 St. Nicholas 0

The Clippers topped the Nicks 11-0; this was a 4-0 game going into the ninth inning. Then the Clippers scored 7 runs in the top of the ninth inning to win their first Central Valley League game of the 2015 season. Matt Gieslinger had a very impressive pitching performance, as he took a no-hitter into the 5th inning. Matt recorded 8 strike outs and only gave up one single thru 5 innings. He also provided the offense too, as he went 3-4 with a solo home run.  Dan Berg went 2-5, Ryan Tri 3-5 and Brendan Ashton 1-4 with a solo home run. Travis Hanson was the pitcher of record, he threw a very good game till the 9th inning, as he recorded 6 strikeouts. Joe Wehlage had the only hit for the Nicks of St. Nickolas.

Eden Valley Hawks 6 Pearl Lake Lakers 4 (10 Innings)

The pitcher of record for the Hawks was Dan Hanson; as he threw a complete game. In 10 innings he scattered 7 hits and walked 2. Chad Hesse led the way offensively for the Hawks as he went 3-5 with 3 singles and 2 runs scored.  Dan Hanson went 1-5 with a big double for 2 RBI’s and Hayden Willner had a double and he scored a run. Zach Schlangen went 2-5 and scored 2 runs, Josh Schmidt went 1-4 with a RBI and Austin Schlangen went 1-3, he scored a run and walked once. Logan Schramel also threw all 10 innings for the Lakers, he scattered 8 hits, issued 5 walks. Tommy Linn went 2-3 and he walked 2 times, Steven Krippner went 3-5 with 2 doubles and he scored 2 runs. Logan Schramel went 2-2 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI’s and Mitch Wienek went 1-5.

Avon Lakers 5 Royalton Riverdogs 1

The Lakers opened  their season with a win over Victory League East foe the Royalton Riverdogs. Cody Stich was the starting pitcher, he threw 4 innings, he recorded 4 strikeouts, gave up no hits and he hit two batters. Troy Wunderlich threw 3 innings of relief, to earn the win, he recorded 4 strikeouts and walked 1 batter. Kyle Collins earned the save with 2 winnings of relief, had record 2 strikeouts and walked 1.  Matt Meyer went 2-4, with a big double for a RBI and he scored a run. Cody Stich went 1-3 with a big double for a RBI and he scored 1 run, Carter Holthaus went 2-4. Rick Henderson went 1-4, he scored 2 runs and walked once, Jon Harlander went 1-3, scored a run and walked once. Taylor Holthaus went 1-5 and Riley Voit went 1-5.

St. Stephen Steves 9 Freeport Blacksox 5

The Steves topped Victory South rival as they topped the Blacksox; Andy Kiel is credited with the pitching win; as he threw 5 2/3 innings, he gave up 5 hits, walked 6 and he recorded 4 strikeouts. Nick Krippner earned the save with 3 1/3 innings of relief, had scattered 5 hits and walked 4 batters. Paul Schumer went 1-2 with a huge bases clearing double and a sacrifice for 4 big RBI’s. Dylan Hollenkamp went 1-2, walked 2 times, Austin Guggenberger went 2-5 with a RBI and a run scored. Ben Omann went 2-5 with a RBI and 1 run scored and Alex Oman went 2-4 with one run scored. Blake Guggenberger went 1-4, scored a run and was hit by a pitch. Nate Winter was the pitcher of record for the Blacksox, he threw 4 innings, gave up 6 hits, recorded 5 strikeouts and issued 1 walk. Craig Meyer threw 3 innings of relief and Carter Sawyer threw 1 inning of relief. Ryan Tschida had a great game, as he went 4-5 with a double, 1 RBI, scored 1 run and he collected one walk. Grant Hess went 1-3 with a solo home run and he walked twice. Jason Tschida went 1-3 with 2 walks, Carter Sawyer went  1-6 with 1 RBI. Tory Frieler walked 2 times and had 1 RBI and Craig Meyer walked twice and scored a run.

Holdingford Express 1   St. Wendel  Saints 0 (10 Innings)

The Express topped St. Wendel in a Victory League South matchup; as Derek Thielen went all 10 innings to earn the win, he record 14 strikeouts, scattered just 3 hits, walked 2 and he hit one batter. Derek Thielen also provided much of the offense, as he went 2-4 with 2 big doubles, he walked once and scored a run. Ian Hoffarth went 1-4 with a walk and a huge RBI, Austin Gerads went 1-3 and was hit by a pitch. Jeremy Spring and Derek Biniek both went 1-5. Nathan Brinker is not only a great wrestler, but he can play a little baseball too, as he went 3-5. Ryan Blommer was the starting pitcher for the Saints, he threw 7 very good innings, as he scattered just 6 hits, walked one and hit one batter. Kyle Jarnot took the pitching loss as he gave up the only run of the game in 2 1/3 innings of relief, he gave up 3 hits, walked 2 and he recorded 2 strikeouts.

Richmond Royals 7 St. Martin Martins 3

The Royals won a huge Stearns County South matchup; with rival the Martins 7-3 in their opening game of league play. Andy Bauer was the starting pitcher for the Royals, he threw 6 very good innings, scattering 6 hits, walking 3, recorded 7 strikeouts and 2 runs. Adam Backes earned the win with 3 innings of outstanding relief, he gave up 2 hits, no walks and he recorded 3 strikeouts. Cole Schmitz went 2-4, with a huge double to drive in 2 big RBI’s and Dusty Adams went 3-5 with a RBI. Cory Niewind had a huge day at the plate, as he went 3-5  and 2 big RBI’s and Scott Ruegemer went 2-5 with a solo home run. Kyle Budde and Brent Ruegemer both had a base hit and both collected a walk.

Litchfield Blues 11 Willmar Rails 4

The Blues topped the Rails in exhibition action with Kaleb Kalkbrenner picking up the pitching win with 4 innings of work, he record 4 strikeouts. Dylan Koll threw 2 innings of relief and Tyler Kielty threw 1 1/3 of relief. Riley Johnson went 1-5 with a double for 2 RBI’s and Kaleb Kalkbrenner went 1-4 with a RBI. Dan Hicks went 1-3 with a RBI, Josh Johnson went 2-5, Mick Hicks went 1-2 and Dylan  Koll went 1-4.
