CENTRAL VALLEY LEAGUE ROUND UP

Luxemburg Brewers 5  Kimball Express 4  (Luxemburg 5/31)

The Brewers topped the Express behind the pitching performances of Austin Klaverkamp and Isaac Matchinsky. Austin went 7 innings, he gave up 3 runs, walked 2, he recorded 9 strikeouts and he scattered 4 hits. Isaac Matchinsky was the pitcher of record, as he threw 2 innings of relief, he gave up 1 run, walked 4 and he recorded 1 strikeout. Ethyn Fruth went 1-4 with a huge grand slam in the 2nd inning to lead the Brewers offense. Luke Harren went 2-5 with a double and Colton Fruth went 1-5 with a RBI. Austin Ciccati went 1-3, Darrin Kiffmeyer went 1-4 and Derrick Orth went 1-2 with 2 walks. Cory Wenz went 1-3 walked once and he scored 2 runs, including the winning run. Zach Dingmann went 7 innings for the Express, he gave up 7 hits, walked 6 and he record 7 strikeouts. Andy Dingmann threw 2 innings of relief and he gave up 2 hits. Adam Beyer went 1-3 with a RBI and Austin Ruehle went 1-3 with a double. Brooks Marquardt went 1-5 with a stolen base and Scott Marquardt went 1-3, he walked twice and he had 2 stolen bases.

Watkins Clippers 9  Pearl Lake 1   (Pearl Lake 5/31)

The Clippers topped the Lakers behind the pitching performances of Matt Geislinger and Danny Berg. Matt threw 6 innings, he scattered 3 hits  and he walked two and he recored 13 strikeouts. Dan threw 3 innings, he recorded 4 strikeouts. Matt Geislinger went 3-5 with a home run and a double for 3 big RBI’s. Kevin Kramer had a big game, as he went 4-6 with a double and he scored 2 runs. Ryan Tri went 3-4 with a walk, 1 stolen base and he scored 2 runs and Lincoln Haugen went 2-5 with a double, he scored 2 runs and he had 2 RBI’s. Gary Peters had a great day at the plate, as he went 4-4, with a home run and a double and a sacrifice. Travis Linn went 1-4 with a walk and Dan Berg went 1-6 with a double.  For the Lakers Mitch Wiencke had a double for a RBI, Tommy Linn and Logan Schramel each had base hits.

St. Augusta Gussies 4  St. Nicholas Nicks 3  (St. Augusta 5/31)

The Gussies topped the Nicks in a close one; behind the pitching performance of Nate Laudenbach. Nate threw all 9 innings, he scattered 8 hits and he recorded 7 strikeouts. Matt Skaja had a big game as he went 3-4 with a RBI and Adam Gwost went 1-4 with a double for a RBI. Aaron Fruth went 1-4 with a RBI and Brady Graft went 1-1 with 4 walks. Nate Gwost went 1-3 and he scored a run and Nate Laudenbach went 1-2 and he scored a run. Zach Laudenbach went 1-3 and Dusty Schultzenberg went 1-4 and he scored a run. Travis Hanon was the pitcher of record for the Nicks. He threw 7 innings, gave up 6 hits, walked 3 and he record 2 strikeouts. Robert Lutgen had a very good game as he went 3-4 and he scored a run. Jon Hofer went 2-4 and Tommy Anderson went 1-4. Jeff Lutgen and Derek Kuechle both went 1-4.

Freeport Blacksox 6  Holdingford Express 5 (Freeport 5/30)

The Blacksox’s topped the Express behind the pitching efforts of Mitch Reller and Nate Winter. Mitch was the starter, he went 6 1/3 innings, he scattered 6 hits, walked 3, gave up 4 runs and he recorded 8 strikeouts. Nate got the win in relief, he threw 2 2/3 innings, gave up 2 hits, walked one and he recorded 3 strikeouts. Rookie Seth Noll had another big day at the plate, as he went 2-4 with a double, stolen base and he scored 2 runs. Mike Frericks went 1-5 with 2 RBI’s, Nate Mettenburg went 1-4, he had a stolen base and he scored a run. Isaac Sawyer went 1-3 with a stolen base, he walked once and he scored a run and Chad Hess had a sacrifice for a big RBI. Derek Thielen was the pitcher of record for the Express, he threw 8 innings, gave up 5 hits, he walked 4 and he recorded 9 strikeouts. Nate Brinker went 2-5 with a stolen base and 2 RBI’s and Derek Biniek went 2-3, he walked once and he scored  2 runs. Jake Klein went 2-4, Jon Springer went 1-5, he scored  2 runs and Travis Thielen, walked two times, he had a sacrifice fly for a RBI.

Freeport Blacksox’s 6  Royalton River Dogs 1  (Royalton 5/31)

The Blacksox’s topped the West division foe River Dogs behind the strong pitching efforts of Mike Frericks, he threw 8 innings, he gave up just 3 hits. Ryan Tschida had a great day as he went 3-4, scored 2 runs and he had a RBI. Troy Frieler went 2-4 with a double and he scored a run, Carter Sawyer went 2-4 with a RBI and Isaac Sawyer went 2-3 with a RBI.

St. Wendell Saints 9  Pierz Bulldogs 1  (St. Wendell 5/31)

The Saints won their league game officially by forfeit as two players did get ejected from the game for the Bulldogs. They only had 8 players to continue, thus the forfeit.  Nick Konz, John Pogatchnik and Ryan Bloomer all pitched for the Saints. John Pogatchnk went 3-5 with a double and he score 3 runs and Lee Maciej went 3-5 with a home run, double and 3 big RBI’s. Hunter Bloomer went 1-4 with a big 3 run homer, he stole a base and he had a total of 4 RBI’s. Taylor Nitz went 1-4 and he walked, and D. J. Brown walked 2 times and he scored 2 runs.

The Royals dropped another very close game to the Chargers of the Stearns North Division. Andy Bauer was the Royals starting pitcher, he went 7 innings, he scattered 6 hits, gave up 2 runs, walked 5 and he recorded 6 strikeouts. Luke Jokela threw 1 2/3 innings, he gave up 2 hits and he allowed 2 runs. Cole Schmitz went 2-2 with 2 RBIs’ and Adam Backes went 2-3. Alex Anderson went 1-4 with a double and Jordan Neu went 1-3.

The Poneys dropped a Eastern Minny game to the Knights, Jeff Amann was the pitcher of record. He threw 7 innings, scattered 7 hits, walked 4 and he recorded 5 strikeouts and he gave up 6 runs. Rob Gabrielson led the Poneys offense as he went 2-4 with a double and a sacrifice for a RBI.  Sean Tillman went 2-5, he scored once and he walked once and Austin Timm went 1-4, he walked and he scored once.  Jim Garbrielson went 1-3, he walked 2 times and Jake Wenzel went 1-4, he scored a run and he walked. Travis Moreno went 1-4 with a double and 2 RBI’s and Spencer Timm went 1-3.

The Blues topped Sauk Valley league rival the Joes; behind the pitching of Kaleb Kalkbrenner. He threw 9 innings, scattered 7 hits, 1 walk, gave up just 2 runs and he recorded 7 strikeouts. Josh Johnson went 1-3 with 2 RBI’s and Jake Johnson went 3-5 and he scored a run. Derek Koll went 1-4 with a sacrifice and Matt Spreiter went 1-4 and he scored a run. Michael Ashwill was the pitcher of record for the Joes. He gave up 8 hits, walked 2 and he record 4 strikeouts. Ben Alvord went 2-4 and Eric Vigil went 2-3, R.j. Albers went 1-4 with a double and Zach Overboe went 1-4 with 1 RBI.  Aaron Rocheleau went 1-3, Ethan Carlson went 1-4 and Zach Dehler went 1-2 with a sacrifice and a RBI.

Watkins Clippers 7  New Munich Silver Streaks 2

The Clippers topped the Silver Streaks of the Stearns County behind the pitching of Tyler Nowacki, he threw 6 innings, 2 walks, 1 hit and he had 11 strike outs. Dustin Kremer threw 3 innings, he gave up 3 hits and he record 2 strikeouts. Matt Geislinger went 3-5 with 2 RBI’s and Gary Peters went 1-5 with a triple and 2 big RBI’s. Adam Hiltner went 1-4 with a triple and Brandon Ashton went 2-4 with a stolen base. Joe Stangler was the pitcher of record for the Silver Streaks, Cole Van Beck went 1-4 with a RBI, Tyler Reller went 1-4 with a double and Chad Funk went 1-3.

The Express got beat by a walk off home run by Shawn Schoenberg, he went 3-4 with a home run and 3 big RBI’s. Jordan Welle was the starting pitcher, he went 5 innings, gave up 6 hits, 5 walks and he record 5 strikeouts. The pitcher of record was Brent Terres, he threw 4 innings of relief, gave up 6 hits, walked one. Eric Terres went 4-6 with a double and a triple, Louie Opatz went 1-3 with 2 RBI’s and Brad Terres went 1-4 with a RBI. Kyle Bertram went 2-3 with a RBI and Nathan Terres went 2-5 with a double. Matt Dingmann was the starter for the Express, he threw 4 innings and Zach Kuefler threw 4 1/3 innings, was the pitcher of record. Jordan Joseph went 2-5 with a RBI, Scott Marquardt went 2-5 with a double and a RBI. Ben Johnson went 2-4 and Zach Kuefler went 2- with 2 RBI’s. The Blues topped the Rockets from the County Line behind the pitching effort by Austin Larson.  He threw 6 innings, gave up 1 hit and he walked 3. Kaleb Kalkbrenner closed the game out; threw the final 2 innings, he gave up 1 hit and he walked 3. The Blues scored 7 runs in the bottom of the 7th inning. Jake Johnson went 1-2 with a double and 3 RBI’s and Josh Johnson went 1-3 with a double and 3 RBI’s. Lucas Johnson went 2-3 with a RBI and Derek Koll went 1-3 with a RBI. Dylan Koll went 2-4 and Matt Sprieter went 1-3 with a RBI.

The Gussies topped the Orphans of the North Star League behind the pitching of Aaron Fruth. Aaron threw a complete game, scattering 7 hits, walking 4 and he recorded 11 strikeouts. Aaron also had a great night of offense, he went 3-4, he walked once, scored 2 runs and had 3 RBI’s. Nate Ladenbach went 2-5, scored a run and he had a RBI, Marcus Lommel walked 2 times, scored a run and he had a RBI. Dusty Schultzenberg went 2-6, he scored a run and he had a RBI and Eric Primus walked 2 times and he had a RBI. Nate Gwost went 1-4 and he walked once, Zach Laudenbach went 1-5 and he scored a run and Matt Skaja went 1-5, walked once and he scored a run.

Cold Spring Springers 14  Minneapolis Angels 6 (Cold Spring 5/29)

The Springers topped Class A Angels behind the pitching of Chris Butala and Zach Femrite. Chris threw 6 innings, scattered 6 hits, walked 3 and he struck out 3.  Zach threw 3 innings of relief, he gave up 2 hits, and he recorded 5 strikeouts. Alex Jungels led the Springers at the plate, as he went 2-3, he walked 2 times, scored a run and he had 4 RBI’s. Tyler Geilsinger 3-4 with a triple, scored 4 runs and he walked twice. Jaron Terres went 3-6 and he scored 2 runs and Zach Femrite went 1-3, scored a run and he had 2 RBI’s. Ryan Holthaus went 2-3 with a RBI and Drew VanLoy went 1-3 with a double, scored a run and he had a RBI. The Springers came up short against the Polecats, where the Springers couldn’t get the big hit. Drew VanLoy the starting pitcher for the Springers, had a very good showing, he scattered 3 hits, walked 1 and he record 5 strikeouts in 5 innings. Jack Arnold was the pitcher of record, he threw 2 1/3 innings and he gave up 3 runs on 5 hits, he record 2 strikeouts. Drew VanLoy went 2-3 with a walk and a RBI, Alex Jungels went 2-4 and Zack Hinkemeyer went 2-4. Tyler Geislinger went 1-4 with a double and he scored their only run, Joe Demsey went 1-4 and Justin Thompson went 1-4.

Brainerd Bees 9 Fort Ripley Rebels 8  (Brainerd 5/29)

The Bees topped Victory League rival Rebels, behind the pitching of Blake Eller. Tom Fairbanks went 2-4 with a triple and a RBI, Tristan Brecht went 2-3 and he walked 2 times. Allan Jerning had a double to drive in the winning run.

Cold Spring Silver Springers 10 St. Wendel Saints 2

The Saints were beaten by the Silver Springers; the pitcher of record was Greg Pogatchnik. John Pogatchnik went 2-4, Hunter Blommer went 2-4 and he scored a run and Ryan Blommer went 2-3 and he had a RBI.

Sartell Muskies 9  Moorhead Bulldogs 1 (Sartell 5/30)

The Muskies topped the Bulldogs behind the pitching performance of Adam Wenker, he scattered 5 hits and he recorded 8 strikeouts. Tim Burns had a big 2 run homer in the first inning.

Sartell Muskies 10  Mora Blue Devils 7 (Sartell (5/30)

The Muskies topped region rival Blue Devils with Andrew Deters getting the save. Andrew also had a great game on offense, he went 4-5 with a double and 3 big RBI’s. Jake Sweeter went 2-3 with 3 RBI’s and Luke Sweeter went 2-4 with 2 RBI’s. Brian Schellinger went 2-3 and he scored three runs.

Isanti Red Birds 2  Sartell Muskies 0 (Sartell 5/31)

The Red Birds topped the Muskies, behind the outstanding pitching effort by Jake Johnson, he surrendered  just one hit to the Muskies. Tim Burns got a base hit for the Muskies. Travis Weaver also pitched a great game, he threw a complete game, giving up only 3 hits.
