Cold Spring Springers 3 Sauk Rapids Cyclones 2 (10 Innings)

If the start of the Lakewood league is any indication of how the rest of the season’s games will be, we are in for a very exciting season. The Springers topped the Cyclones in 10 innings on a walk off home run by Zach Femrite. They were led by very solid pitching performances by Zach and Justin Thompson. Zach threw 7 innings, he scattered 5 hits, walked 1 and he recorded 9 strikeouts. Justin earned the win with 3 innings of relief, he gave up just 1 hit and had 2 strikeouts. Joe Dempsey went 2-5 with a RBI and Jeron Terres went 1-5 with a big RBI and a stolen base. Alex Jungels went 2-4 with a run scored and Zach Hinkemeyer went 2-4 and he scored a run. Justin Thompson went 2-3 and he walked once. Drew VanLoy went 1-4 with a walk, Ben Griffin went 1-5 and Ryan Holthaus walked 2 times. Andy Thayer was the starting pitcher for the Cyclones, he had a very good performance, as he threw 7 1/3 innings, scattered 5 hits, issued 3 walks and he record 2 strikeouts. Scott Geiger was the pitcher of record, he threw 2 1/3 innings, gave up 6 hits, walked one and he recorded 2 strikeouts. Andy Hinkemeyer went 2-4 with a double, 1 RBI and he scored a run. Scott Geiger went 1-5 with a double, 1 RBI and he had a sacrifice. Matt Meyer went 1-4, Charlie Oltz went 1-3 and Kyle Hinkemeyer went 1-3 and he scored a run.

Sartell Muskies 7 Litchfield Blues 0

The Muskies topped the Blues in Sauk Valley League action behind the strong pitching effort of Adam Wenker. He threw a complete game, scattered 10 hits, walked 1 and he recorded 15 strikeouts. Andrew Deters led the Muskies offense, as he went 4-4 with a double, 2 RBI’s, he scored 3 runs and he had 1 stolen base. Adam Schellinger went 2-3, walked twice and he scored a run and Jake Sweeter went 2-5 with a RBI. Cody Partch went 2-5 with a walk and Tyler Zelinski went 1-1 with 2 big RBI’s. Kal Volinkaty was the pitcher of record for the Blues, he went 6 innings, scattered 8 hits, walked 5, gave up 5 runs and he recored 2 strikeouts. Tyler Kielty threw 2 innings of relief, he gave up 3 hits, walked 3, gave a run and he recorded 2 strikeouts. Lucas Johnson went 2-5 and Jake Johnson went 2-5 with a stolen base. Derek Koll went 2-5 and Dan Oster went 2-4. Tyler Kielty went 1-3 with a walk and Stephen Pennertz went 1-4.

St. Joseph Joes 12 Clear Lake Lakers 1 (7 innings)

The Joes topped their league rival the Lakers behind the strong pitching efforts of Alex Kendall and Mike Ashwill. Alex threw 5 innings, he gave up 4 hits, walked 1, gave up 1 run and he recorded 8 strikeouts. Mike threw 2 innings of relief, he recorded 2 strikeouts, he didn’t give up a hit or issue any walks. Ethan Carlson went 2-4 with 2 big RBI’s, scored a run and he had a sacrifice. Brandon Bloch went 2-5 with 2 RBI’s and a run scored and Alex Kendall went 2-5 with 2 RBI’s. Zack Overboe went 1-2 with 2 RBI’s, scored 2 runs, walked and he had a sacrifice. Brock Cheeley went 1-3 with a RBI and a run scored and Caz Novak went 1-3, scored 2 runs and he walked. Zach Dehler went 1-3 and he scored 2 runs and R. J. Alpers went 1-4 with 2 RBI’s and a sacrifice. Tyler Mueller earned a RBI and Mike Staller walked in his only batting appearance. Sam Schoeberg was the pitcher of record for the Lakers and they had four players get base hits; Rich Petty, Mark Korto, Jake Samuelson and Sam Samuelson.

Clear Lake Lakers 7 Litchfield Blues 2 (8 Innings)

The Lakers topped the Blues in a rain shortened game, behind the pitching effort of Matt Korte. He gave up 4 hits, walked 5 and he recorded 7 strikeouts. Matt Korte went 2-4 with 1 RBI and Rich Petty went 1-4 with 1 RBI. Brent Watercott went 1-3 with a double and 2 RBI’s and Jake Samelson went 2-4. Austin Cash went 1-4 and Issy Caspers went 1-3. The pitcher of record for the Blues was Kaleb Kalkbrenner, he gave up 8 hits, walked 2 and he record 7 strikeouts. Dylan Koll threw 2 innings of relief, he gave up 1 hit, walked 5 and he recorded 1 strikeout. Derek Koll lead the Blues offense, he went 2-4 with a RBI and Jake Jones and Dylan Koll each had base hits.

Kimball Express 11 Pearl Lake 1 (6 Innings)

The Express topped League rival Lakers in a rain shortened game, behind the pitching performance of Zach Dingman. He scattered 2 hits, walked 2 and he recorded 3 strikeouts. Adam Beyer led the Express as he went 2-4 with a home run and 4 big RBI’s. Jordan Joseph went 2-3 with a double, he walked once and he scored 2 runs. Scott Marquardt went 1-2 with 2 RBI’s, he walked once, scored a run and he had a sacrifice. Brooks Marquardt scored 3 runs, walked once and he had 2 stolen bases. David Joseph went 1-4 with a home run, Matt Dingmann went 1-2 and Zach Kuefler went 1-3. Logan Schramel was the pitcher of record for the Lakers, he threw 4 2/3 innings, he gave up 5 his, walked 1 and he record 2 strikeouts. Derrick Garding went 1-2 with a double for a RBI and Nick Roeder went 1-3.

Kimball Express 11 St. Nicholas Nicks 1 (7 Innings)

The Express topped league rival Nicks in behind the pitching efforts of Matt Dingmann, he threw 5 innings, he gave up 4 hits, walked 2 and he recorded 3 strikeouts, to get credit for the win. Andy Dingmann threw 2 innings of relief, he struck out 3. Adam Beyer had a huge weekend as he went 2-4 with a home run and another 4 big RBI’s. Scott Marquardt went 2-3 with 2 RBI’s, he walked twice and he scored 2 runs. Brooks Marquardt went 2-4 with a double, a RBI, he had a stolen base and was credited with a sacrifice. David Joseph went 2-3 , Austin Ruehl went 2-3 with a RBI and Jordan Joseph went 1-4 with a RBI. Kyle Winter went 1-3 and he scored 2 runs and Matt Dingmann went 1-3. Kevin Drontle was the pitcher of record for the Nicks. He threw 2 innings and Travis Hansen threw 4 innings. Cold Spring Rockies 7 Luxemburg Brewers 4

The Rockies topped league rival Brewers behind the pitching efforts of Chris Lardy and Rick Burtzel. Chris went 7 innings to get credit with the win, he scattered 6 hits, walked one and he recorded 2 strikeouts. Rick got credit with the save, he gave up 2 hits and he recorded 2 strikeouts. David Jones went 2-4 with a home run and a double for 2 RBI’s and Kevin Wenner went 2-4 with a home run. Isaac Matchinsky was the pitcher of record for the Brewers, he threw 6 innings, he gave up 4 hits, walked one and he recorded 7 strikeouts. Derek Orth went 2-4 with a double and a RBI, Ethan Fruth went 2-4 with a home run and Darren Kiffmeyer went 1-4 with a home run.

Cold Spring Rockies 8 St. Augusta 7

The Rockies won their second league of the weekend as they defeated the Gussies behind the pitching efforts of Jeff Lindblom and Tyler McElwee. Jeff started and he went 3 innings and Tyler McElwee threw 6 innings to earn the win. He scattered 3 hits, walked 6 and he struck out 4 and gave up just one run. Ryan Bell went 2-4 with 2 RBI’s and he scored 2 runs and Paul Schriener went 1-3 with a RBI and he walked once. Marshall Wirtzfield went 2-4 with 2 big RBI’s and Reece Hemmesch went 1-4 with a RBI and a stolen base. Rick Burtzel went 2-2 and he scored a run and Mike Ficker went 1-4 and he score 2 runs. David Jonas went 1-5, Mike Halbrook went 1-4 and he scored a run and Dylan TeBreke went 1-1. Travis Laudenbach was the pitcher of record for the Gussies, he threw 8 innings, he gave up 12 hits, walked 4 and he recorded 5 strikeouts. Marcus Lommel went 3-3, he had a double, 2 RBI’s, 2 walks and a stolen base. Nate Gwost went 2-3 with 2 doubles, walk and he scored twice and Matt Skaja went 1-3 with 2 RBI’s and he walked once. Adam Gwost, Aaron Fruth, Zach Laudenbach and Nate Laudenbach all had a base hit.

Watkins Clippers 5 Eden Valley Hawks 4 (6 Innings)

The Clippers topped their neighbor and league rival Hawks in a rain shortened game. T. J. Frericks was the starting pitcher for the Clippers, he earned the win as he scattered 5 hits, walked 1 and he recorded 3 strikeouts. Matt Geislinger earned the save as he threw 1 inning of relief and he recorded 3 strikeouts. Dan Berg went 3-3 with 2 big doubles, he had a stolen base and he scored 2 runs and Adam Hiltner went 2-3 with a triple and a double for 2 RBI’s. Travis Linn went 1-2 with a double and a he scored a run and Dallas Evenson went 1-3 with a double. Miach Kramer went 1-3 with a RBI and Ryan Tri went 1-3 with a RBI and he scored a run. The Hawks topped the Gussies in league action in 11 innings, behind the pitching performances of Hayden Willner and Dan Hanson. Hayden threw 7 1/3 innings, he scattered 7 hits, walked 2 and he recorded 3 strikeouts. Dan earned the win, with 3 2/3 innings of relief, he gave up 2 hits and he record 5 strikeouts. Hayden Willner went 2-5 with a double, Dan Hanson had a home run, Jeff Haag he a double and Matt Pennertz had a RBI base hit. Nate Laudenbach was the pitcher of record for the Gussies, he threw all 11 innings and gave up 6 hits, walked 2, gave up 2 runs and he recorded 7 strikeouts. Luxemburg Brewers 5 St. Nicholas Nicks 1

The Brewers topped their league foe Nicks, behind the pitching performance of Mitch Ergen. He threw all 9 innings, he scattered 5 hits, walked 3 and he record 6 strikeouts. Luke Harren led the Brewers offense, as he went 3-4 with a RBI, he a double and he walked once. Colton Fruth went 2-4 , he scored 2 runs and he had 2 stolen bases. Derrick Orth had another good game, as he went 2-4 with a stolen base and Austin Ciccati went 1-4 with a sacrifice. Jon Hofer was the pitcher of record for the Nicks, he threw all 9 innings, he also led their offense with a 2-4 day.

The Blacksox’s won their first league game of the season over the Saints, behind the pitching of Mitch Reller. He threw 7 innings, gave up 2 hits, issued 7 walks, gave up 4 runs and he recorded 8 strikeouts. Nate Klaphake threw one inning of relief, he gave up 2 hits and he recorded 2 strikeouts. Rob Mettenberg threw one inning of relief, he gave up 3 hits, walked one and he recorded 2 strikeouts. Carter Sawyer went 3-4 with a home run, 3 big RBI’s and he scored 2 runs. Troy Frieler went 3-5 with a home run and a double for 3 RBI’s and he scored 2 runs. Rookie Seth Noll went 2-5 with a RBI, 2 stolen bases and he scored 2 runs. Elrosa Saints 5 Richmond Royals 4 (12 Innings)

The Royals dropped a very exciting game, after falling behind 4-0 after the first inning, they came back with 4 runs in the 9th inning. They had several changes in extra innings, but they couldn’t come up with a key hit. Andy Bauer was the starting pitcher for the Royals, he thew 6 innings, gave up 7 hits, walked 4 and he recorded 2 strikeouts. Taking the pitching loss was Jordan Neu, he went 5 1/3 innings, he gave up 2 hits, walked 3 and he recorded 4 strikeouts. He hit one batter and that forced the winning run in, after the Saints had loaded the bases. Scott Ruegemer went 2-5 with double and 2 RBI’s and Cole Schmitz went 2-5 and he scored a run. Kyle Budde went 1-5 with a double and he scored a run, Adam Backes went 1-5 and he scored a run and Brent Ruegemer earned a RBI with a sacrifice.

Meire Grove Grovers 5 Richmond Royals 1 (7 Innings)

In a game shortened by rain, the Royals dropped a league game. Luke Jokela went 5 innings and he was the pitcher of record for the Royals. Scott Ruegemer had a double for the Royals. No other details were made available.

Sartell Poneys 6 Rum River Bandits 3

The Poneys topped the Bandits to pickup their first league win of this young season. Jeff Amann went 6 2/3 innings to earn the win, he scattered 6 hits, walked 2 and he recorded 6 strikeouts. Steve Fish earned the save with 2 1/3 innings of relief, he gave up 2 hits and he had 6 big strikeouts. Jim Gabrielson went 3-5 with a double and Josh Rathbun went 2-5. Pat Dolan went 1- 3 for 2 big RBI’s and he scored a run and Austin Timm went 1-4, he scored 2 runs and he walked once. Dan Gaughan went 1-2, he walked twice, scored a run, had a sacrifice for one RBI. Jeff Amann went 1-4, with a RBI and he scored a run, Sean Tillman went 1-4 with a RBI and Spencer Timm went 1-2 with a RBI and he walked once.

Luxemburg Brewers 7 Sauk Rapids Cyclones 6

The Brewers scored early and then they held off the Clones for a win for the Central Valley League Crew over the Lakewood League in non-league action. The Brewers did their mound duties with six different pitchers, Nick Baker for 2 innings, Casey Underwood for 2 innings, Mitch Ergen, Sam Iten and Isaac Matchinsky all threw 1 inning and Brice Adelmeyer got the win with 2 innings of relief. Derek Orth continues to swing a hot bat, as he went 3-5 with a RBI and he scored a run. Corey Wenz went 2-4, scored a run and he walked once. Isaac Matchinsky went 2-4, scored a run, Colton Fruth went 1-3, scored a run and walked once. Tanner Skaja went 1-2 with a RBI and he walked once, Derek Alberts went 1-1 with a RBI and he scored a run and Austin Cicatti went 1-3 with a RBI. I don’t have the starting pitcher for the Cyclones, but Tyler Bjork threw 5 innings of relief, he scattered 5 hits, walked and he recorded 3 strikeouts. Tyler Long went 2-5 with a double and he scored a run and Matt Meyer went 2-4 and he scored a run to lead the Cyclones offense. Paul Schlangen went 1-3 and he scored 3 runs, Jesse Lavoi went 1- 3 and he walked once and Charlie Oltz went 1-3 and he walked once.

St. Joseph Joe’s 11 St. Augusta Gussies 5 (7 Innings)

The Joes topped the Gussies in a non-league game; both teams scored early and often in the 1st inning. The Joes starting pitcher Josh Wood would threw 5 innings for the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 3, gave up 3 runs and he recorded 5 strikeouts. R. J. Alpers threw 2 innings of relief, he gave up 4 hits, walked 2 and he recorded 4 strikeouts. R. J. Alpers went 1-2 with two big RBI’s and he scored 3 runs. Caz Novak went 1-4 with 3 big RBI’s, he had a sacrifice fly. Zack Overboe went 2-3, he scored 2 runs and he walked once and Alex Kendell went 1-3 with a RBI, scored a run and he walked once. The Gussies starter was the pitcher of record, Adam Gwost threw 3 1/3 innings of relief and Aaron Fruth threw 2 1/3 innings. Adam Gwost went 2-3, he hit another bomb for 2 runs and he walked twice. Aaron Fruth went 2-4 with 2 RBI’s and Zach Laudenbach went 2-5 with a double and he scored a run. Nate Laudenbach wnet 1-3, scored a run and he walked and Nate Gwost went 1-3 and he walked once.

The Clippers topped the Kings in exhibition action behind the great pitching efforts of Taylor Nowrocki and Matt Geislinger. Taylor got credit for the win, as he started and went 6 innings. He gave up just 2 hits, walked 2 and he record 5 strikeouts. Matt went 3 innings for the save and he gave up 2 hits, walked 2 and he record 6 strikeouts. Adam Hiltner was the offensive leader as he went 3-5 with 2 stolen bases. Ryan Tri went 2-5 and he scored 2 runs and Matt Geislinger went 2-4 and he walked once. Taylor Nowrocki went 2-4 and Cary Peters went 2-4 and he scored a run. Kevin Kramer went 1-5, and Lincoln Haugen in his first game as a Clipper walked twice.
