LAKEWOOD LEAGUE ROUND UP

Sauk Rapids Cyclones 9  St. Cloud Beadreaus Saints 6  (St.Cloud Putz 7/13)

The Cyclones topped Lakewood League and Regional rival the Beadreaus Saints. A pair of home runs powered their way past the Saints, in the first inning lefty, Tyler Bjork hit a grand slam. In the 5th inning, lefty Andy Hinkemeyer had a 3 run shot over the right field wall. Andy Thayer earned the pitching win with 7 innings of work, he gave up 9 hits, walked 4 and he had 2 strikeouts. Jeff Hille threw the final 2 innings, he gave up 2 hits and he walked one, gave up one run and he had 2 strikeouts. Tyler Bjork went 4-4 a grand slam and a double, he scored two runs. Not only did he have a great night at the plate, he made two catches in left field that would have good chance of making the top plays of the week.  Andy Hinkemeyer had the 3 run homer and he drove another run for a total of 4 RBI’s.  Matt Meyer had a great day as he went 3-4, he walked and he scored 2 runs and Charlie Oltz went 1-5 and he scored two runs. Scott Geiger went 1-4, he walked and scored a run along with that, he made some nice plays at shortstop.  Brad Haag was the pitcher of record for the Saints, he threw 5 innings, he gave up 7 hits, walked 2 and he had 6 strikeouts. Jeff Fasching threw 3 innings of relief, he was awesome, giving up just 1 hit, 1 walk and he had 6 strikeouts. The Saints bats really started to get going at this point as they had 3 extra base hits in the late innings. Brian Minks went 3- 4 with a triple, he walked and he scored 3 runs. Jeff Fasching went 2-3 with a double, scored 2 runs and he had a RBI. Nick Maiers went 2-4 with a double, scored a run and he had 2 RBI’s.  Ryan Schnieder went 2-5, he had a double and a RBI, Nick Hengel went 1-4 with a RBI and Jason Kotschaver went 1-3, he walked and he had a sacrifice fly for a RBI. Player/Manager Brian “The Wanderer” Anderson closed out the game with a inning of relief, hit one batter and then induced a ground ball for a double play and another grounder to 2nd for the final out.

Watkins Clippers 6  St. Nickolas Nicks 1  (Watkins 7/19)

The Clippers topped the Nicks in their first round of the CVL playoffs behind the pitcher efforts of Taylor Nawracki and Matt Geislinger.  Taylor threw 5 innings, he gave up just 3 hits and had 5 strikeouts. Matt threw 4 innings, gave up 1 hit and he had 7 strikeouts. Lincoln Haugen had a big day at the plate, he went 2-5 with a double and 2 walks and Adam Hiltner had an awesome day, he went 2-3, scored 2 runs, had 2 stolen bases and a RBI. Brendan Ashton went 2-4 with a RBI and Gary Peters went 1-4 with a double and 2 RBI’s. Kevin Kramer went 1-4 with 2 stolen bases and he scored a run, Taylor Nowrocki went 1-5 and scored a run and Matt Geislinger walked twice. Jon Hofer was the pitcher of record for the Nicks, he threw 6 1/3 innings, he gave up 5 hits and 4 walks and he surrendered 3 runs. Derek Kuechle threw 1 2/3 innings of relief, he gave up 3 hits, 4 walks and 3 runs. Joe Wehlage went 1-3 with a RBI and Travis Hanson went 1-4 and he scored their lone run. Jon Hofer went 1-3 and Jeff Lutgen went 1-4.

Kimball Express 7  St. Augusta Gussies 2  (Kimball 7/19)

The Express topped CVL rivals the Gussies in their first round of the CVL playoffs behind the pitching of Ben Johnson and the hitting of Adam Beyer. Ben threw 6 innings, he gave up just 4 hits, 1 walk and he had 11 strikeouts. Andy Dingmann threw 2 innings of relief, he gave up 3 hits, 1 walk and he had 2 strikeouts. Zach Kuefler threw 1 inning of relief, gave up 2 hits and he had a strikeout. Adam Beyer went 2-4 with a 2 run homer and a 2 run double for 4 big RBI’s. Austin Ruehle had an awesome day as the Express leadoff hitter, he went 3-5, scored a run and had a stolen base. Brian Marquardt went 1-4 with 2 RBI’s and Scott Marquardt went 1-4 and he was hit by a pitch. Brooks Marquardt went 1-2, he walked and scored a run, was hit by a pitch and Jordan Joseph was hit by a pitch and he scored a run. Kellen Eurle was the pitcher of record for the Gussies, he threw 5 innings, gave up 6 hits, 1 walk and he had 6 strikeouts. Travis Laudenbach threw 3 innings of relief, he gave up 2 hits and he had 2 strikeouts. Adam Gwost had a good day at the plate for the Gussies, he 2-5 with a double and a RBI and Matt Skaja went 2-4 with a double and scored a run. Dustin Schultzetenberg was 2-5 with a RBI and Marcus Lommel went 1-4 and he was hit by a pitch. Nate Laudenbach went 1-2 with a double and he walked and Nate Gwost went 1-4 with a walk. 

Luxemburg Brewers 9  Pearl Lake Lakers 0 (Luxemburg 7/19)

The Brewers topped their league rivals the Lakers in the first round of the CVL playoffs, behind the awesome pitching performance by Austin Klaverkamp. Austin threw all 9 innings, he gave up only 2 hits and had 9 strikeouts. Luke Harren had a big day at the plate, he went 3-3 with a double and 2 RBI’s and he walked 2 times. Chase Aleshire went 1-4 with a double, he walked and he had 2 RBI’s and Derrick Orth had a good day, he went 2-5 with double and 2 RBI’s and walked. Ethyn Fruth went 2-4 and Colton Fruth went 2-4 with a RBI and walked. Corey Wenz went 1-4 with a RBI and Isaac Matchinsky went 1-4 with a walk. Sam Iten went 1-3, he walked and scored a run and Nick Baker walked. Tony Garding was the pitcher of record for the Lakers. Logan Schramel and Derrick Garding both got base hits for the Lakers.

Eden Valley Hawks 2  Cold Spring Rockies 0  (Cold Spring 7/19)

The Hawks topped CVL rivals, the Rockies in their first round of League playoffs, behind the pitcher efforts of Dan Hanson.  Dan threw a complete game, he scattered 9 hits, walked just 1 and he had 3 strikeouts. Nate Geislinger had a big night at the plate, he went 3-4 with a RBI and Hayden Willner went 2-3, he scored a run and he had a stolen base. Zach Schlangen went 1-4 and he scored a run and Josh Schumacher went 1-3. Tanner Olean went 1-4, Chad Hesse had a sacrifice bunt and Jeff Haag walked. Chris Lardy was the pitcher of record for the Rockies, he threw 7 1/3 innings, he gave up 6 hits, walked 1 and he had 2 strikeouts. Jake Hennen threw 1 2/3 innings of relief, he gave up 2 hits, walked 1 and he had a strikeout. Mike Holbrook had a great night, he went 3-4 and Kevin Wenner went 2-4 with a stolen base. Sartell Muskies 13 Clear Lake Lakers 0 (7 Innings) (Clear Lake 7/19)

The Muskies closed out their regular season with a win over Sauk Valley league rival the Lakers. Lefty Johnny Schumer was awesome once again on the mound, he threw 5 innings, he gave up just 2 hits, walked just 1 and he had 11 strikeouts. Adam Wenker threw 1 inning of relief, gave up a hit and he had a strikeout and Max Koprek threw 1 inning of relief and he gave up a hit, walked 1 and he had a strikeout. Tim Burns had a good game at the plate, as he went 3-4, he had a triple, walked, scored a run and he had a stolen base and 3 RBI’s. Shawn Schoen enjoyed a big day at DH, as he went 2-4, scored a run and he was credited with 5 RBI’s. Andrew Deters had a good day as the Muskies leadoff hitter, he went 2-4 with a double and he scored 3 runs. Jace Otto went 2-5 and he scored a run and Cody Partch went 1-4 with a RBI and he walked and scored a run. Adam Schellinger went 1-4 and he walked and scored a run and he had a RBI and Jake Sweeter went 1-5, he walked and scored. Paul Schumer went 1-5 and he scored a run and Adam Wenker walked twice, scored 2 runs and he had a RBI.  The Hunter Mutterer was the pitcher of record for the Lakers, he threw 5 innings, he gave up 9 hits, walked 4 and he had 5 strikeouts. Rick Petty went with a double, Kyle Systma went 1-3 and Hunter Mutterer went 1-3. The Muskies now have a 22-1 overall record and they went 12-0 in the Sauk Valley League.

LItchfield Blues 7 Clear Lake Lakers 0 (Clear Lake 7/18)

The Blues closed out their regular season with a win over Sauk Valley League rivals the Lakers. Austin Larson threw a complete game for the Blues, he gave up 7 hits, walked 3 and he had 13 strikeouts. Eric Hulterstrum had yet another great game, he went 3-4 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI’s. Jacob Johnson went 2-5, Danny Oster went 2-5 and Toby Chellin went 2-5. Carson Deal went 1-4 and Dylan Koll went 1-5. Matt Korte was the pitcher of record for the Lakers. He threw 8 innings, he gave up 13 hits, walked 2 and he had 3 strikeouts. Andrew Sam went 1-4 with a double, Kyle Systma went 1-4, Jake Samulson went 1-3, Cody Cunningham went 1-3 and Hunter Setrum went 1-4.

Avon Lakers  4  Holdingford Express 0  (Avon 7/18)

The Lakers topped the Express in their first division playoff game behind the pitching of veteran left hander Troy Wunderlich. He threw all 9 innings, he gave up just 4 hits, 3 walks, he hit one batter and he recorded 7 strikeouts. The Lakers were led on offense by Caleb Curry he went 1-3 with a walk, stolen base and a run scored and Adam Harlander went 1-4 with a RBI. Carter Holthaus went 1-3, with a walk, stolen base and 2 runs scored. Reed Voit Went 1-3 with a walk and a run scored and Zac Tomsche walked 2 times. Derek Thielen was the pitcher of record for the Express, he threw a very good game, he gave up just 4 hits, walked 5 and he had 10 strikeouts. Jeremy Springer went 1-3 with a walk and Derek Biniek went 1-3 and he was hit by a pitch. Derek Thielen went 1-3 with a walk, Ian Hoffarth went 1-4 and Jake Klein walked.

Freeport Blacksox  7  St. Stephen Steves 5 (Freeport 7/18)

The Blacksox topped their big divisional rivals the Steves in their first playoff game. This was a matchup of lefties to start and the Steves pitcher was cruising along into the 7th inning with a shutout and the Blacksox got things started. They scored all 7 runs in the 7th inning. Carter Sawyer threw 7 innings, he scattered 6 hits, walked 3 and he had 4 strikeouts. Veteran lefty, Nate Winter entered the game after the 7th inning and he earned the save with 2 innings of relief. Carter Sawyer had a good day at the plate, he went 2-3 with a run scored, he was hit by a pitch and he had 2 RBI’s. Ryan Tschida went 2-3 with a double for 2 RBI’s and he walked and scored a run. Mike Frericks went 1-4 and scored a run and Ike Sawyer went 1-3, he walked and scored a run. Seth Noll went 1-4, he had the big hit to get the Blacksoxs on the score board in the 7th, he had 2 RBI’s and he scored a run. The Lakers topped their Victory League South rival the Blacksox, in their first round of league playoffs. The Lakers were led by a pair of pitching good performances by Kyle Collins and Adam Harlander. Kyle threw 7 innings, he scattered 7 hits, walked 3 and he had 7 strikeouts. Adam Harlander threw 2 innings of relief, he gave up 2 hits, walked 1 and he had 2 strikeouts. Reed Voit went 1-3, he walked and scored 2 runs and Caleb Curry went 1-4, he walked and scored a run. Riley Voit went 1-3 with a walk and Rich Hendrickson went 1-4 with a walk and a RBI. The Steves topped their Victory League South rivals, the Express in the League elimination game. Austin Guggenberger earned the pitching win with 6 innings, he gave up 5 hits, he walked 4 and he had 5 strikeouts. Bo Schmitz threw 3 innings of relief and gave up 4 hits, walked 2 and he had 4 strikeouts. Bo Schmitz had a good day at the plate, he went 2-4 with a home run for 2 RBI’s, he walked, scored 3 runs and he had 2 stolen bases. The Royals dropped another very close ball game to Stearns County rivals the Silverstreaks. Andy Bauer was the pitcher of record, he threw 7 innings, he walked just one and he had 7 strikeouts.  Jordan Neu threw 2 innings of relief and he recorded 2 strikeouts. Scott Ruegemer went 2-3 with a homerun and he walked and Dusty Adams went 1-3 with a walk. Brent Ruegemer went 1-4 with a double and Cory Niewind went 1-4.

The Poneys topped their Eastern Minny league rivals the Snappers behind the pitching performances of Jeff Amann and Travis Moreno. Jeff threw 7 innings, he scattered 9 hits, 4 walks and he recorded 6 strikeouts. Travis Moreno threw 2 innings of relief, he gave up 1 hit, 4 walks and he had 3 strikeouts. Sean Tillman had an awesome day, as he went 3-5 with a home run and a double for 6 RBI’s. Rob Garbrielson went 2-4, he scored a run and he had a RBI and Jake Wenzel had another good game, he went 2-5, he scored 2 runs and he had a stolen base. Josh Rathbun went 1-4 with a double and 2 RBI’s and Austin Timm had a busy day, he went 1-3, he was hit by a pitch, walked and scored 3 runs, had a stolen base and a RBI. Rum River Bandits 7 Sartell Stone Poneys 6 (Cambridge 7/19)

The Poneys dropped a tough one to their league rivals the Bandits. They pounded out 15 hits, but they did commit 6 errors on the field. They did hold the lead going into the bottom of the 8th inning, 3-2.  Steve Fish was the starting pitcher for the Poneys, he threw a great 7 innings, he gave up just 4 hits, walked 1, hit 2 batters and he had 2 strikeouts. Tyler Waytashek, usually is pretty effective, didn’t have his control in this outing, he walked 4 and hit a batter, he did record 2 strikeouts. Sean Tillman simply had a great weekend, he went 3-5 with a another home run, for 2 RBI’s and Pat Dolan went 2-3 with a double, he walked and scored a run and he was hit by a pitch. Jake Wenzel had a good weekend too, he went 2-5 with a double, walked, had a stolen base and 3 RBI’s. Jim Gabrielson went 1-3 and he scored a run and Jeff Amann went 1-4 and was hit by a pitch. Spencer Timm went 1-4 with a double and 2 RBI’s and Travis Moreno went 1-5. Josh Rathbun went 1-4 and he scored a run and Branden Reinking went 1-1 and he scored.

The Springers topped their regional rival the Marshall A’s behind the pitching performance of Justin Thompson. Justin threw 7 innings, he scattered 5 hits, walked 2 and he had 10 strikeouts. Joe Dempsey may have had his best day as a Springer, he went 4-4 with 2 doubles, scored 3 runs and he had 3 RBI’s.  Drew VanLoy once again made some very good defensive plays at 3rd base and he went 1-3, walked and he had a 2 run homer for 2 big RBI’s. Zach Hinkemeyer went 2-3 and he scored 2 runs and Alex Jungels went1-4 with a double for 2 RBI’s. Ryan Holthaus went 1-3 and he scored a run and Zach Femrite went 1-3 and he scored a run. Travis McGlauflin was the pitcher of record for the A’s, gave up 9 hits, 6 runs and he had 3 strikeouts. Lee Zeer threw 1 inning of relief. Andrew Kinnery had a good game for the A’s as he went 2-3 with 2 doubles and a RBI. Noah Winkelman went 1-3, he scored a run and he had a RBI and Ben Korger went 2-3 and he scored a run.

St. Cloud Beadreaus Saints 5 Minneapolis Cobras 0 (7 In.)  (Cold Spring 7/17)

The Beadreaus Saints had a very impressive win over a Class A team.  The Cobras are leading the Park National League with a 12-3 mark and 27-10 overall record. They had a very recent win over the Elko Express, the number 1 ranked Class B team in Minnesota.  Jeff Fasching the red shirt freshman at the University of Minnesota had a good pitching performance. He threw 5 2/3 innings, gave up just 1 hit, walked 1, hit 2 batters and he had 3 strikeouts. Nick Maiers threw 1 1/3 innings of relief, he walked 1 and he had 3 strikeouts. Steve Neutzling had a good game, he went 2-3 with a double and 2 RBI’s. Ryan Schneider had another good game at the plate, he went 2-3, he had a double, walked and scored a run. Nick Hengel went 2-4, he scored and he had a RBI and Waylon Bemboom went 1-2 and he scored and was hit by a pitch. Chad Hockemeyer went 1-2 with a walk and Brian Minks went 2-3 with a walk. Zach Musterman was the pitcher of record for the Cobras, he threw all 7 innings. He gave up 10 hits, walked 3, surrendered 5 runs and he had 4 strikeouts. Cold Spring Springers 11 Bemidji Bucks 1  (5 Innings) (Cold Spring 7/18)

The Springers topped the Bucks in just 5 innings, behind the pitching of right hander Reed Pfannestein and the 16 hits the Springers pounded out. Reed Pfannestein threw 5 innings, scattering 4 hits, he walked 1 and he had 5 strikeouts. Joe Dempsey continues to swing a hot bat, he went 2-3 with a homerun and a run scored. Ryan Holthaus had his best game at the plate and he called a great game behind the plate, he went 3-3, scored 3 runs and he had a RBI. Drew VanLoy continues to swing a hot bat, he went 3-3 with a RBI and he scored a run. Eric Loxtercamp played great game in center field and he went 2-3, walked scored 3 runs and he had 2 RBI’s. Zach Femrite went 2-3 with a triple, a run scored and a RBI, Jeron Terres went 2-3, he had a stolen base and he scored a run and Zach Hinkemeyer went 1-3  and he scored a run. Luke Benge was the pitcher of record for the Bucks, walked 1 and he had 1 strikeout. Mason Bellew went 1-2 with a RBI and Conner McNallen went 1-3 and he scored a run. Bemidji Bucks 7  Brainerd Bees 6  (8 innings) (Cold Spring 7/18)

The Bucks came from behind to top the Bees in extra innings, the Bees had taken a early lead of 5 runs scored in the 1st inning. Cody Benson was the starting pitcher for the Bucks, he gave up 8 hits, walked 5 and he had 4 strikeouts. Jack Hegarty earned the win with 2 innings of relief, he gave up a hit, walked 1 and he had 3 strikeouts. Tyler Nelson, led the Bucks offense with his 4-5 performance, he had a triple, scored a run and he had a RBI. Mason Bellew went 3-5 with 2 big RBI’s and Jack Hegarty went 3-4 with a home run to tie the game in the 7th inning. Steve Prichard went 2-3 with a sacrifice in the 8th inning to score the winning run. Connor McNallow went 2-5 and he scored a run and Nick Hovila went 1-4, scored 2 runs and had a stolen base. Luke Benge went 2-4 and Cody Jenkins went 1-4. Veteran right hand Tim Martin was the pitcher of record for the Bees, he threw all 8 innings. Tim and Joel Martin both had good days at the plate. Tim went 2-3, with a double, he scored a run and he had a RBI and Joel went 2-5 with a double and he scored a run. Kevin Peterson went 1-3 with 2 RBI’s and he walked and scored a run and Paul Augustinack went 1-4 and he scored a run. Tristan Brecht went 1-4, walked and scored, Burrell Flanagan went 1-4, with a RBI and Bryce Flanagan went 1-4 and he scored a run.

Minneapolis Cobras 7 Brainerd Bees 3  (7 Innings) (Cold Spring 7/18)

The Cobras topped the Bees behind the pitching of former St. Cloud State and Sauk Rapids Cyclone pitcher Pat DeLaHunt. He threw 5 innings, scattering 9 hits, walked 4 and he had 4 strikeouts. J. E. Urseth earned the pitching win with 2 innings of relief. Matt Borman had a big game for the Cobras, as he went 2-4 with a double, with 2 RBI’s and he scored a run and Tyler Peterson went 2-4 with a RBI. Gabe MacDonald went 2-3, he walked and had a RBI and Sam Bunnett went 1-3, he walked and had a RBI. J. E. Urseth went 1-3 with a RBI. Mike Penatz went 1-3 and Pat DeLaHunt went 1-3 and he scored a run. Burrell Flanagan was the starting pitcher for the Bees, he threw 5 innings, he gave up 6 hits, walked 4 and he surrendered 4 runs. St. Cloud Beadreaus Saints 6  Marshall A’s 0  (7 Innings) (Cold Spring 7/18)

The Beadreaus topped their regional rivals the A’s behind the great pitching performance by Ryan Schneider. He threw all 7 innings, he scattered 4 hits, walked 1 and he had 8 strikeouts. Brian Minks had a great game at the plate, he went 2-4 with a double for 2 RBI’s and he scored a run. Ryan Schneider went 1-4 with a double and a RBI and Jeff Fasching went 2-3, with a RBI and he scored a run. Steve Neutzling went 2-2 with a RBI and he scored a run. Nick Hengel went 1-4 with a RBI and he walked and was hit by a pitch and Waylon Bemboom had a sacrifice and he scored a run. Colton Smit was the pitcher of record for the A’s, he threw all 6 innings, he gave up 8 hits, walked 3 and he had 4 strikeouts. Andrew Kinney went 1-3 with a double, Lee Keer went 1-3, Noah Winkelman went 1-3 and Ben Sanders went 1-1 and he walked.

Cold Spring Springers 5 Minneapolis Cobras 2  (7 Innings) (Cold Spring 7/19)

The Springers topped Class A Cobras behind the great pitching performance by Drew VanLoy. Drew threw a complete game, scattered 5 hits, walked 1 and he had 2 strikeouts. Joe Dempsey had a great weekend, as he went 2-3 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI’s and he scored a run. Ryan Holthaus had a very good day, called a great game behind the plate and he went 2-3 with a RBI. Eric Loxtercamp went 1-3 with a RBI and he scored a run. Drew VanLoy aided his own cause as he went 1-3 and he was hit by a pitch. Tyler Geislinger went 1-1 with a RBI and he walked, Zach Femrite went 1-1 and Zach Hinkemeyer scored a run. Alex Gustafson was the pitcher of record for the Cobras, he threw 6 innings, he gave up 8 hits, walked 1 and he had 2 strikeouts. Kahtan Al-Kaissy had a good game, going 2-3 with a home run and he scored a run. His home run broke up a no hitter that VanLoy took in to the 5th inning. Sam Bunnett went 1-3, Matt Borman went 1-3 and Tyler Patterson went 1-3.

St. Cloud Beadreaus Saints 10 Bemidji Bucks 5 (Cold Spring 7/19)

The Beaudreaus Saints topped the young Bucks from Bemidji behind the pitching of Nick Denny and Brad Haag. Nick threw 4 innings, he gave up 8 hits, walked 2 and he had 3 strikeouts. Brad threw 3 innings, he gave up 2 hits, walked 2 and he had 4 strikeouts. Brian Minks had a great game for the Saints, as he went 3-3 and he scored 3 runs. Ryan Schneider went 1-1 with a double and 3 RBI’s and he walked 2 times. Jeff Fasching went 1-1 with a walk and 2 stolen bases and Steve Neutzling went 1-4 with a double and he scored a run. Jason Kotschevar went 2-4, he scored a run and he had a stolen base and, Chad Hockemeyer went 2-4 with a RBI and scored 2 runs and Will Spaniol went 2-4 with a RBI and he scored a run. Ryan Franson was the pitcher of record for the Bucks, he threw 5 innings, he gave up 11 hits, 6 walks and he had 4 strikeouts. Jack Hagerty threw 2 innings of relief, he walked 1 and he had 3 strikeouts. Nick Hovila went 1-4 with a RBI, he scored a run and he had a stolen base. Tyler Nelson had a good game, going 2-4 with a triple and a RBI and Conner McNullan went 3-4 with a RBI and he scored 2 runs. Mason Bellew went 1-3 with a walk, Cody Benson went 1-3 with a RBI and he walked and Cody Jenkins went 1-4. Jake Tuholsky went 1-3 and Jack Hegarty walked 2 times and he was credited with a RBI.

Marshall A’s  4  Brainerd Bees 3 (Cold Spring 7/19)

The A’s topped their regional rivals the Bees behind the pitching of Jordan Kontz and Travis McGlauflin. Jordan threw 6 innings, was the pitcher of record, he gave up 8 hits, walked 1 and he had a strikeout. Travis threw 1 inning to earn the save, he did issue 1 walk. Jordan Kontz went 1-3 with 2 stolen bases and he was hit by a pitch and Ben Korger went 1-4 with a stolen base. Conner Winkelman went 1-3, with 3 stolen bases, he walked and he scored 2 runs. Michael Marchese went 1-3, walked and scored 2 runs and he had a stolen base. Leo Zerr went 1-2 with a walk and Andrew Kinney walked and he was credited with a RBI. Blake Peterson was the pitcher of record and threw all 7 innings, he gave up just 5 hits, he walked 4 and he had 6 strikeouts. Player/Manager Tim Martin had a great day as he went 3-3 and Chris Karels went 1-3 with a double and a RBI. Blake Peterson went 1-3 with a RBI and Paul Augustinack went 1-4 and he scored a run. Joel Martin had a RBI and Bryce Flanagan scored a run.

Cold Spring Springers 2  Kimball Express 1  (Cold Spring 7/15)

The Springers topped Central Valley League foe the Express in very well played game. The Springers were led by a well pitched game by Chris Butala, he threw 8 innings. He scattered 7 hits, walked 4, gave up 1 run and he had 3 strikeouts. Right hander, Jack Arnold, stepped in to earn the save, he hit 1 batter and he had a strikeout. Chris Butala also had a good night at the plate as he went 2-3. Two big offensive leaders for the Springers were Alex Jungels, he went 1-4 with a double and a RBI and Drew VanLoy went 1-4 with double and a RBI.  Garrett Fuchs had a good night at the plate as he went 2-4 with a stolen base. He made a couple of great plays at the second base as well, he made a great leaping catch to end the game. Joe Dempsey went 1-4 and he scored a run and Jeron Terres went 1-4. Justin Thompson walked 3 times and he scored a run. He also threw a strike, from his right field position to third place, to throw out a runner late in the game.  The starting pitcher for the Express was Zach Dingmann, he had a shaky first inning, but he settled down and he threw 7 2/3 innings, scattered 7 hits, walked 2, gave up a run and he had 2 strikeouts.  Zach Kuefler took the loss for the Express, in his relief, he gave up a walk and a hit that led to the go ahead run. Ben Johnson had a great game as he went 2-4 and Matt Dingmann went 1-3 with a big double for a RBI.  Troy Filzen went 1-4 and he scored a run and Austin Ruehle went 1-4. Brooks Marquardt went 1-4 and a stolen base and Scott Marquardt went 1-4 with a walk.

Sartell Muskies 13  Lastrup Lakers 6  (Pierz Legion Park 7/15)

The Muskies topped Victory West League regular season champions the Lakers. They were led by a trio of pitchers, Paul Schumer was the starter, he threw 6 innings, he gave up 5 hits, walked 2 and he had 2 strikeouts. Cody Partch threw 2 innings, gave up no hits, walked 1 and he gave up no runs and had 2 strikeouts. Grant Mackenthun threw the final inning, walked 2 and gave up no hits and he had 2 strikeouts. Tim Burns went 2-5 with a double, he scored 2 runs and he had a RBI. Jace Otto went 2-5, walked and he scored 2 runs and he had a RBI. The brothers, Brian and Adam Schellinger had good games at the plate. Brian went 2-5 with a double, walked and he scored 2 runs and Adam went 2-5 and he scored a run. Luke Sweeter went 2-6, he scored a run and he had a RBI and Jake Sweeter walked twice. Cody Partch had a busy day he had a home run, he walked and he was hit by the pitch twice. John Schumer went 1-2, he walked and he scored a run and Andrew Deters, walked twice, scored 2 runs and he had a sacrifice for a RBI.  The Muskies have built their record to a impressive 21-1 on the season.

Sauk Rapids Cyclones 11  Albertville Villains 1  (8 Innings) (Sauk Rapids 7/10)

The Cyclones topped the Villains of Albertville 11-1, game was stopped because of the ten run rule after 8 innings. Nate Freihammer was the Cyclone starter, he earned the win with 6 innings of work. He gave up just 4 hits, had no walks and he recorded 5 strikeouts. Bryce Gapinski threw 2 innings of relief, he gave up 2 hits and he had 3 strikeouts. Scott Geiger went 2-3, he scored 2 runs, he had a stolen base and 2 RBI’s. Evan Warnert went 2-3 and he scored a run and David Kroger went 2-4 with a 2 RBI’s. Matt Meyer went 1-3 with a walk, he scored and he had a RBI and Tyler Bjork went 2-4, he scored a run and he had a RBI.  Tyler Long went 1-3, he scored a run and he had a RBI, Paul Schlangen went 1-3, he scored a run and he had a RBI and Tommy Wippler scored a run.

Litchfield Blues  16  Eden Valley Hawks 9  (Litchfield 7/14)

The Blues pounded out 17 hits in their win over their Central Valley League rivals, the Hawks. Josh Johnson had a grand slam in the 8th inning, Josh went 4-5 with a double and the home run for a total of 6 RBI’s. The Blues had four pitchers throw, Austin Larson, was the starter, went 4 innings, gave up 6 hits, walked 2, gave up 3 runs and he had a strikeout to earn the win.  Kal Volinkaty threw 3 innings of relief,  gave up 3 hits, walked 1, surrendered 1 run and he had 4 strikeouts. Jacob Johnson threw one inning of relief and Jake Schultz closed it out for the Blues.  Lucas Johnson had a good game going 3-4 with 2 RBI’s, Derek Koll went 1-3 with 2 RBI’s and Carson Deal went 1-3 with 2 RBI’s. Jake Jones went 1-3 with a RBI, Matt Spreiter went 1-5 with a RBI and Riley Johnson went 1-3 with a double. Jake Schultz went 1-5 with a RBI and Stephen Pennertz went 1-3. Nathan Geislinger was the pitcher of record for the Hawks, he threw 2 innings. Matt Pennertz threw 5 innings of relief and Trent Norgren threw the final inning for the Hawks. Nathan Geislinger had a good night at the plate as he went 3-6 and Jake Anderson went 2-4 with 2 RBI’s. Trent Norgren went 2-3 with a RBI and Matt Pennertz went 1-5 with 2 RBI’s. Austin Schlangen went 2-5, Jeff Haag went 1-4 and Tanner Olean went 1-5.

St. Augusta Gussies 3  Sauk Rapids Cyclones 2  (Sauk Rapids 7/15)

This was a great pitching matchup, as there was a total of 7 hits in the game. Aaron Fruth was the starting pitcher for the Gussies, he threw 7 innings, gave up 4 hits, 4 walks and he had 6 strikeouts.  Travis Laudenbach threw 2 innings of relief and he gave just one hit. Dan Swan earned the win in relief, he threw 1 inning, he did give up 3 hits, 1 run and he recorded a strikeout. Marcus Lommel went 1-4 with a stolen base, Nate Gwost went 1-3, walked and he scored 2 runs, he had a stolen base and he was hit by a pitch. Tyson Eurle went 1-4 and he walked, Matt Skaja walked and he scored a run and Adam Gwost walked and he had a RBI. Nate Friehammer was the pitcher of record for the Cyclones, he threw all 9 innings. Nate gave up 3 hits, walked 4 and he had 8 strikeouts. Adam Wippler went 1-3, he walked and he had a RBI and Matt Meyer went 2-4 and he had a RBI. Charlie Oltz went 1-3, walked and scored a run and Nate Friehammer went 1-3. Tyler Long was hit by a pitch, walked, stole a base and he scored a run and Tyler Bjork walked.

Litchfield Blues 4  New Munich Silver Steaks    (Litchfield 7/17)

The Blues topped their foe from the Stearns County North the Silver Streaks in a game that took just 1 hour and 40 minutes. Kal Volinkaty threw a great game as he went all 9 innings, he gave up just 3 hits, walked 4 and he had 2 strikeouts. Eric Hulterstrum, went 2-4 with a RBI as he continues to stay hot with the bat. Carson Deal went 2-3 with a RBI and Derek Koll went 1-3. Toby Chellin went 1-4, Riley Johnson went 1-3 and Austin Larson went 1-2.
