Cold Spring Springers 8  St. Cloud Beadreaus Saints 2 (Cold Spring 6/28)

The Springers topped Lakewood League Rival the Beadreaus Saints behind the strong pitching performance by Drew VanLoy. Drew thru his third complete game in row, he gave up just 4 hits, walked 2 and he had 5 strikeouts. Eric Loxtercamp was a leader on the Springers offense, he went 2-5 with a stolen base and 3 big RBI’s. Alex Jungels went 1-5 with a double for a RBI and Jeron Terres went 2-4 with a big RBI. Ryan Holthaus had a great game behind the plate as well as at the plate, he went 2-3 with a walk. Zach Henkemeyer not only made some great defensive plays he went 1-2 with a walk, stolen base and he scored 2 runs. Tyler Geislinger scored a run and he had a big RBI along with a pair of very nice catches in center field to save possible a couple of runs. Justin Thompson; again Mr. Versatile went 1-4, walked, scored a run and he had a RBI, Justin played first base and he too came up with some very nice plays. Joe Dempsey went 1-5 and he scored a run. Brad Haag was the pitcher of record for the Saints; he threw 6 innings, gave up 8 hits, walked 2, gave up 5 runs and he had 4 strikeouts. Jeff Fasching threw 2 innings of relief, he gave up 2 hits, 1 walk, 3 runs and he had 2 strikeouts. Chat Hockemeyer went 1-3, scored a run and he had a triple. Tommy Auger went 1-3 with a RBI, Ryan Schneider went 1-3, scored and he walked and Nick Hengel went 1-4.

Watkins Clippers 3  Eden Valley Hawks 0  (Eden Valley 6/28)

The Clippers topped their CVL rival the Hawks behind the complete game pitching performance by Matt Geislinger.  He scattered 5 hits, walked 2 and he had a season high 16 strikeouts. Dan Berg had a great night at the plate as he went 2-5 with 2 doubles. He scored the first run of the game as he was driven in by Brenden Ashton with a base hit. Kevin Kramer went 2-4 with a solo home run in the 5th inning to make it 2-0. Lincoln Haugen went 2-4 as he scored the 3rd run in the 9th inning, he was driven in by Gary Peters sacrifice fly. Dallas Evenson got a pinch hit single to move Lincoln to 2nd base. Dan Hanson was the pitcher of record for the Hawks; as he threw all 9 innings, gave up 7 hits, walked 1.  Dan Hanson led the Hawks offense too, as he went 2-3 with a walk. Tanner Olean went 2-4 and Hayden Willner went 1-3.

Kimball Express 6 St. Augusta Gussies 5  (St. Augusta 6/27)

The Express topped their CVL rivals the Gussies behind the pitching of Zach Dingmann and Jordan Joseph. Zach started, he threw 3 1/3 innings, gave up 4 hits, walked 6, gave up 5 runs and had a strikeout. Jordan Joseph earned the win with 5 2/3 of relief, he was nearly lights out, he gave up just 2 hits, walked 3 and he had 8 strikeouts. Jordan Joseph also had a big day at the plate, he went 2-5 with a double, scored a run and 2 big RBI’s. Ben Johnson had a big 3 run homer and Scott Marquardt went 2-5 with a RBI. Austin Ruehle went 3-4 with a double and a stolen base and Brian Marquardt went 2-4. Kellen Eurle was the pitcher of record for the Gussies, he threw all 9 innings, he scattered 10 hits, walked 2 and he had 11 strikeouts. Dusty Schultzetenburg went 2-5 with a stolen base and a RBI and Matt Skaja went 1-3 with a stolen base and 2 RBI’s. Marcus Lommell went 1-3 with a double and 2 walks and Aaron Fruth went 1-4 with stolen base and a walk. Kellen Eurle went 1-3 with a double and a walk and Zach Loudenbach, scored 2 runs and he walked twice.

Kimball Express 11  Pearl Lake Lakers 1  (Marty 6/28)

The Express topped CVL rivals the Lakers with a couple of big innings, as they blew open a tight game. Going into the 6th inning it was tied at 1-1 and the Express put up 6 runs on the score board. Young right hander Joey VonWohlde threw a great game, he went 7 innings, he scattered 5 hits, walked 4 and he had 6 strikeouts. Andy Dingmann provided 2 innings of relief, he gave up 2 hits and he had a strikeout. Again Jordan Joseph had a great day at the plate and the field, he went 2-3 with a homer run and a double, for 2 RBI’s, walked 2 times and he scored 3 runs. Troy Filzen had a good game behind the plate and at the plate, as he went 3-5 with a double for 2 RBI’s. Brian Marquardt had a great game, going 3-4, scored and he had 2 RBI’s and Scott Marquardt went 2-4 with a double, scored 2 and he had 2 RBI’s. Ben Johnson went 2-5 and scored 2 runs, Austin Ruehle went 1-4, scored, walked and he had a RBI and Brooks Marquardt went 1-4. Derek Schlangen was the pitcher of record for the Lakers, he threw 6 2/3 innings, he gave up 12 hits, walked 2 and he had a strikeout. Justin Kunkel threw 2 1/3 innings of relief, he gave up 3 hits, walked 2 and he had a strikeout. Tommy Linn had another great game, as he went 2-3 with a double and a walk. Justin Kunkel had a very good game, as he went 3-4 with a double and a stolen base. Nick Roeder went 1-3 and Cole Denn went 1-1.

St. Augusta Gussies 9  Cold Spring Rockies 3  (St. Augusta 6/28)

The Gussies behind the pitching of Nate Laudenbach topped their CVL rivals the Rockies. Nate threw a complete game, scattering 6 hits, walked 3 and he had 7 strikeouts. Dustin Schultzetenberg had an awesome game, he went 3-5 with 2 doubles and a RBI. Marcus Lommel continues to hit as he went 2-4 with a double for 2 RBI’s and he walked. Brady Grafft went 2-3, walked twice and he went yards for a 2 run homer. Zach Loudenbach went 2-4 and he scored, Nate Gwost went 1-2, walked twice and he scored 2 runs and Nate Loudenbach went 1-4. Aaron Fruth went 1-4 and Matt Skaja, walked, scored and he had a sacrifice. Tyler McElwee was the pitcher of record for the Rockies, he threw 7 1/3 innings, gave up 11 hits, 6 walks and he recorded 5 strikeouts. Mike Holbrook had a good game at the plate, he went 2-3 with a double for a RBI and Paul Schreiner went 1-3, he scored 2 runs, walked and he had a home run.  John Rossman went 1-3 with a walk, Jeff Linbloom went 1-3, Marshall Wirtzfeld went 1-4 and Ryan Bell, walked and he scored a run.

Pearl Lake Lakers 13  St. Nickolas 2 (7 Innings)  (Marty 6/27)

The Lakers behind the pitching of Tony Garding, he threw 6 innings, he scattered 6 hits and Justin Kunkel threw 1 inning of relief, he gave up a hit and he had a strikeout. Derrick Garding’s grand slam was all they needed to topped CVL rival the Nicks. Nick Roeder went 2-3 with 3 RBI’s and Tommy Linn went 3-4 and he scored 2 runs. Ryan Wieneke went 1-2 with a double, 2 walks andhe scored and Justin Kunkel went 1-3 and he scored. For the Nicks, Derek Kuchle was the starter and pitcher of record, he threw 3 innings and Matt Soldner threw 3 innings of relief. Travis Hanson went 2-4 with a double, Tanner Anderson went 2-3 with 2 doubles, Matt Soldner went 1-3 with 2 RBI’s, John Hofer went 1-3 and Robert Luntgen went 1-3.

The Muskies topped Sauk Valley League rival the Blues behind the pitching of lefty Johnny Schumer. Lefty threw all 9 innings, giving up just 4 hits, walked 1 and he had 5 strikeouts. Brian Schellinger went 2-4 and he scored and Cody Partch went 2-4 and he scored. Paul Schumer went 1-4 with a double and a stolen base and Tyler Zelinski went 1-4, he scored, had a stolen base and a RBI. Jake Sweeter didn’t have any hits, yet he walked twice, was hit by pitch and a sacrifice for a RBI. Kal Volinkaty was the pitcher of record for the Blues, he threw 8 innings, scattered 8 hits, walked 4 and he had 2 strikeouts. Bobby Chellin went 1-4 with a RBI and Jake Schultz went 1-4. Josh Johnson went 1-4 and Derek Koll went 1-4. The Muskies are now 16-1 on the season and 8-0 in the Sauk Valley League.

Litchfield Blues 4  Foley Lumberjacks 3 (7 Innings) (Litchfield 6/28)

The Blues topped Sauk Valley League foe the Lumberjacks behind the pitching of Austin Larson. He threw 7 innings, scattered 5 hits, walked 3 and he had 3 strikeouts. Carson Deal provided a good offensive game, as he went 2-3 with 2 doubles for a RBI and Eric Hulterstrum went 1-3 with a RBI. Josh Johnson went 1-3 with a double and Matt Spreiter went 1-3 with a RBI. Jake Johnson went 2-3 and Toby Chellin went 1-3 with a RBI. Mike Beier was the pitcher of record for the Lumberjacks, he threw 6 innings, scattered 11 hits, had no walks and he recorded 4 strikeouts. Cameron Jurek went 2-4, Mike Beier went 1-3 and Noah Winkelman want 1-3.

Foley Lumberjacks 17  Litchfield Blues 7  (7 Innings) Litchfield 6/28)

The Lumberjacks topped Sauk Valley League foe the Blues behind a very good 6th inning, they had 23 hits and they score 11 runs. Mitch Keeler benefited by this big inning, as he was the pitcher of record for the Lumberjacks. He scattered 10 hits, and he had 4 strikeouts. Mitch also had a big 3 run homer, to contribute to his own cause. Tony Stay went 3-5 with a big 3 run home run and Mike Beier went 3-5. Tyler Midas went 3-5, Brandon Moen went 3-4, and Rich Rasmussen went 3-5 with a double. Noah Winkelman went 2-4 with a double, Cameron Jurek went 2-5 with a double, Joe Ziwicki went 2-6 with a double and Hunter Hammers went 1-2. Kaleb Kalbrenner took the pitching loss for the Blues. Eric Hulterstrum had a great game, as he went 3-4 with a 3 run homer and a double. Matt Spreiter went 2-4, Jake Johnson went 2-4, Toby Chellin went 1-4 and Carson Deal went 1-1.

What a pitching duel that took place with 8 hits between the two teams and two thirds of those hits, didn’t leave the infield. Kyle Collins was the starting pitcher for the Lakers, he threw 7 1/3 innings, giving up just 4 hits, he walked 1, hit 1 batter and  had 8 strikeouts. Adam Harlander entered the game with one out in the 8th inning, he threw 1 2/3 to earn the win, he hit 3 batters, walked 1 and he had 3 big strikeouts. Riley Voit went 2-4 with a double, stolen base and he scored 2 runs. Reed Voit went 1-2 and he walked twice and Cody Stich went 1-3 with a stolen base. Ryan Morse walked and was credited with a RBI and Carter Holthaus had a sacrifice. Matt Meyer, Caleb Curry and Zac Tomsche walked once. Mitch Keller was the pitcher of record for the Blacksoxs, he threw a great game. He threw 8 innings, scattered 4 hits, walked 5 and he had 8 strikeouts. Carter Sawyer threw 1 inning of relief. Carter Sawyer went 1-3, he walked and he had a RBI, Troy Frieler went 1-4, Seth Noll went 1-4 and Mitch Waldvogel went 1-3, was hit by pitch and he scored. Look for these two teams to match up again in their league playoff and more very close contests between the Lakers and the Blacksox.

Avon Lakers 14  St. Wendel Saints 7  (Avon 6/28)

The Lakers clinched the Victory South regular season title with a pair of wins over Victory League foe the Saints. Troy Wunderlich was credited with the pitching win, he threw 6 innings, gave up 10 hits, walked 3 and he had 3 strikeouts. Cody Stich threw 2 innings of relief, he gave up 2 hits and Adam Harlander closed it with 1 inning of relief, he gave up a hit and he had a strikeout. Adam Harlander not only closed out the game on the mound, he had a great game at the plate, as he went 2-4 with a double, scored and 4 big RBI’s. Riley Voit went 3-6 with a double, scored 3 runs and he had 3 RBI’s and Rick Hendrickson, Mr. Consistent, went 2-5, he scored 3 runs, had 2 stolen bases and a RBI. Cody Stich went 2-5 and he scored 2 runs and Caleb Curry went 1-3, he walked, scored 2 runs and he had a RBI. The Lakers topped the Saints for the 2nd time in their double hitter behind a trio of pitchers. John Harlander was the starter, he threw 5 innings, gave up 2 hits, walked 3 and he had a strikeout. Tony Schoenberg threw 2 innings of relief, he had 1 walked and 2 strikeouts. Earning the save was Caleb Curry, he went 2 innings, gave up a hit and he recorded 3 strikeouts. Adam Harlander had a big day at the plate, he went 2-4, score and he had a RBI. Conner Huberty went 2-4 with a RBI and Riley Voit went 2-4 with 2 big doubles and he scored 2 runs. Kenny Webber went 2-4 and he scored, Carter Holthaus went 1-3, Zac Tomsche went 1-3 and he scored and Dave Kolthoff went 1-1. The Blacksoxs topped Victory League south foe the Express behind the pitching of Carter Sawyer, he earned the win with 8 innings of work. He scattered 7 hits, walked 3 and he had 2 strikeouts. Rob Mettenburg earned the save with a perfect inning of relief.  Rookie Seth Noll has his best day as a Blacksox, as he went 2-3 with a double and home run. He hit his home run in the 8th inning, 2 run shot to break the tie. Eric Evaslage went 2-4 and he scored, Carter Sawyer went 2-3 and walked twice and Ryan Tschida went 1-5 with RBI. Mike Frerichs went 1-4 with a walk, Craig Meyer went 1-4, Johnny Benson went 1-4, scored a run and Mitch Waldvogel walked and scored a run. The Steves dropped a close one to their Victory League rivals the Billygoats. Blake Guggenberger was the pitcher of record. Ben Oman went 2-3, Sam Neeser went 2-4 and Blake Guggenberger went 1-4 with a double and a RBI.

The Stone Poneys topped the Bulldogs of the Eastern Minny League West in a ball game played after a heavy rain. Rob Gabrielson was the starting pitcher, he went 4 innings, gave up 6 hits, 7 runs and he had 5 strikeouts. Tayler Waytashek went 3 innings, he scattered 6 hits, walked 4 and he had a strikeout. Sean Tillman led the Poneys on offense, as he had a great game, going 4-5 with a double, walked he scoreed 2 runs and 3 RBI’s. Jim Gabrielson went 2-3 with a 3 run homer, walked, he had a stolen base and 3 RBI’s.  Rob Gabrielson went 1-3 with a home run, scoreed 4 runs, hit twice by pitch, walked, he had a stolen base and 2 RBI’s. The Poneys topped the Bulldogs for another big division win, behind the pitching of Jeff Amann. Jeff threw a great game, gave up just 4 hits, walked 5 and he had 5 strikeouts. Jim Garbrielson went 1-2, scored a run, walked and was hit by a pitch and Jake Wenzel was hit twice, scored a run and he had a stolen base. Patrick Dolan scored a run, walked and he had a RBI, Travis Moreno earned a RBI and Austin Timm earned a RBI. Brandon Reinking was 1-3 and Rob Garbrielson scored a run and was hit by a pitch.

Chisago Lakes Bulldogs 8 Sartell Stone Poneys 2 (Chisago Lakes 6/28)

The Poneys fell short in their quest of their 3rd win over the Bulldogs over the weekend. Steven Fish was the pitcher of record, Brandon Reinking threw 1/3 of a inning and Rob Garbielson threw 3 innings of relief, giving up 2 hits, walked 2 and he had 3 strikeouts. Rob Garbielson went 2-4 with a run scored and Jeff Amann went 2-3 with a RBI. Sean Tillman went 1-2 with a walk and a RBI, Jim Garbrielson went 1-3 and Travis Moreno went 1-3.

The fund raiser in the park for the state tourney coming up in late August and early September was a great success. With three great games that were played and the concert that took place after the games.

Richmond Royals 2  Cold Spring Silver Springers 0  (Cold Spring 6/27)

The Royals behind the great pitching of Jordan Neu and Luke Jokela topped the 35 Over Defending State Champions, the Silver Springers. Jordan was the starter and pitcher of record, he earned the win with 4 innings of work, he walked 2 and he had 2 strikeouts. Lefty Luke was nearly lights out, he gave up an infield hit, walked 3 and he recorded 5 strikeouts. Cole Schmitz went 2-3 with a double and a RBI and Brent Ruegemer, walked and he had a sacrifice to drive in a run. Adam Backes went 2-3 and he scored both runs for the Royals and Mason Griefe went 1-3. Dusty Adams, Dylan Adams and Maziro Voss all walked. John Eichten was the pitcher of record for the Silver Springers, he threw all 7 innings, scattering 6 hits, walked 4 and he had 3 strikeouts. John Theis had the lone hit for the Silver guys and Steve Hulls, Tim Martin, Todd VanErp, Andy Auger and Rod Schafer all walked. Rod Schafer still has it; as he picked off a runner at third place in the top of the 6th inning. He likes to fire the ball around from his catcher position and he had a quite a repetition of picking runners off; when they least expect it!

New Munich SilverStreaks 4  Cold Spring Rockies 3 (8 Innings) (Cold Spring 6/27)

The Silver Streaks behind the pitching of Nick Stangler and Player/Manager Paul Sand topped the Rockies. The Silver Streaks from the Stearns County League went extra innings to topped their Central Valley League foe. Nick Stangler earned the pitching win for the Silver Streaks, he threw 5 innings, scattered 3 hits, walked 4 and surrendered 2 runs. Paul Sand earned the save with 3 innings of relief, he scattered 4 hits, walked 2 and surrendered 1 run. Chad Funk went 2-3 and Nick Stangler went 1-4 with a RBI. Grant Johnson went 1-3 with a walk and a run scored and Hunter Rademacher went 1-4, scored and he had a RBI. Craig Weller went 1-2 with a RBI, Ty Reller went 1-4 and Logan Funk went 1-4. Rick Burtzel was the starting pitcher for the Rockies, he went 5 innings, scattered 4 hits, walked 1, gave up 1 run and he had 2 strikeouts.  Jake Brinker threw 2 innings of relief, he gave up 3 hits, walked 1, gave a run and had 3 strikeouts. Blaine Athmann was the pitcher of record for the Rockies as he gave up 2 hits, and 2 runs.

Cold Spring Springers 2   Sobieski Skis 0   (Cold Spring 6/27)

The Clash of State champions was an excellent ball game, with a very nice crowd on hand, they were treated with some very entertaining baseball. The Clash of Most Valuable players from last year’s state tourney the starting pitchers; Tyler Jendro of the Skis and Zach Femrite were on the hill for both teams. Zach threw just 2 innings thou, he was having an issue getting loose. He was impressive thou, he gave up a single and he had 2 strikeouts. There was two starts of the game for the Springers, Jack Arnold came in for relief of Zach, he threw 5 outstanding innings of relief. He faced just 17 batters, two over the minimum. He gave up just 1 hit, walked 1 and he recorded 4 big strikeouts. The other offensive hero was pinch hitter Ben Griffin, a former Minnesota Gopher, stepped in with runners at 2nd and 3rd in the bottom of 6th inning. He lined a single into right center field, just over the second basemen’s head to drive in both runs. Drew VanLoy went 2-3 on the day had just sent a shot down the left field line for a double to help set up the big hit by Griffin. Garrett Fuchs had single in front of VanLoy’s double to set up the big single by Griffin. Tyler Geislinger went 1-3 as he had a line drive single to lead the game off. Tyler Jendro was the pitcher of record for the Skis, he threw 6 innings, have gave up 7 hits and he recorded 3 strikeouts.  Riley Hirsch and Collin Eckmann had base hits for the Skis. This game was played at a very fast pace, as it was completed in an hour and 14 minutes!

Cold Spring Springers 3  Nisswa Lightning 1 (Cold Spring 6/24)

The Springers topped Victory League North foe the Lightning in a very well played ballgame.  The Springers minus several of their veteran ball players, managed to hold off the Lightning. They came in with a No. 2 ranking in the state in Class C and a very impressive 16-1 record. Justin Thompson earned the pitching win for the Springers, he worked out several jams where the Lightning had 2 or more runners on. He scattered 6 hits, walked 5 and he had 5 strikeouts. Eric Loxtercamp had another great game for the Springers, as he went 3-4. Jerron Terres continues to hit with his 2-4 showing, he had a double and a RBI. Chris Butala went 2-3 with a double and a big RBI and Garrett Fuchs went 1-3 with 2 big sacrifices.  Alex Jungels went 1-4 and he scored a run and Joe Dempsey walked and he scored. Justin Thompson walked twice, sacrifice bunt and a stolen base. Tyler Geislinger walked and he had a RBI and Jack Arnold walked twice. There were a couple of mistakes on defense, but the Springer outfield did make some fabulous catches.

9TH ANNUAL NIMROD GNATS

Luxemburg Brewers 10 Twin City Saints 0 (7 Innings)  (Nimrod 6/26)

The Brewers topped the Saints, a Class A team from the Twin Cities in their quarterfinal game of the Gnats invitational. The Brewers batted around, sending 10 to the plate in the 4th inning. Lefty Austin Klaverkamp, pitched a complete game, stopped by the 10 run rule after 7 innings. He scattered 3 hits, had no walks and he had 4 strikeouts. Luke Harren had a big day for the Brewers, as he went 2-3 with a double, scored a run and he drove in 2 runs. Chase Alshire went 1-2 with a big double, he drove 3 runs with his timely double. Isaac Matchinsky went with a 1-3 with a double and 2 RBI’s and Colton Fruth went 1-4, scored 2 runs and he had a RBI. Nick Baker walked and scored 2 runs, Cory Wentz went 1-1 and scored a run, Darren Kiffmeyer went 1-3 and scored and Ethyn Fruth went 1-1, walked twice and he scored 2 runs.

Nimrod Gnats 5  Luxemburg Brewers 0  (Nimrod 6/27)

The Brewers dropped their semifinal game to the Gnats and to a division 1 pitcher. Nick Baker threw a good ball game, have scattered 5 hits, walked 6 and he had 1 strikeout. Colton Fruth and Sam Iten got basehits for the Brewers!

Luxemburg Brewers 6 Bemidji Bucks 2  (Nimrod 6/28)

The Brewers came up big to win the third place game over the Bemidji Bucks. Back by the very welled pitched game by Brice Adelmeyer and Sam Iten. Brice threw 3 innings, he gave up 2 hits, walked 2, gave up 2 runs and he had 3 strikeouts. Sam Iten earned the save with 4 innings of work, he gave up 2 hits, 1 walk and he had 3 strikeouts. Luke Harren was one leader for the Brewers offense, he went 2-3, scored 2 runs and he walked. Cory Wenz had a good game at the plate, he went 2-4 with a double and he scored a run. Sam Iten went 1-4, scored a run, had a stolen base and he had a RBI and Isaac Matchinsky went 1-2, he walked and he had 2 RBI’s. Colton Fruth went 1-5, with a double and he scored a run, Brice Adelmeyer went 1-3 with a RBI and Ethyan Fruth went 3-1, he walked and he had a RBI.

Sartell Muskies 5  Sartell Stone Poneys 1   (7 Innings) (Sartell 6/24)

The Muskies topped regional rival the Poneys in their community night; featuring a brief camp for 1st and 2nd graders. Plans are to make this an annual event for the community of Sartell. The Muskies were led by Max Koprek, as he threw a outstanding game, giving up just 2 hits, no walks and he had 4 strikeouts. Adam Schellinger and Brian Schellinger both had good games for the Muskies, as  Adam went 2-3 with a RBI and Brain went 2-4 and he scored. Adam Wenker went 2-2 and he walked and scored a run and Jake Sweeter went 1-4 with a RBI. Andrew Deters went 1-3, he scored 2 runs, and was hit by a pitch and Tim Burns  walked and he had a sacrifice fly. Luke Sweeter went 1-3 and Cody Partch went 1-3 and he scored a run. The Stone Poneys pitcher battled the Muskies for the whole game, Jeff Amann gave up 10 hits, walked 2 and he had 2 strikeouts. Austin Timm and Spencer Timm both had base hits for the Poneys and Dan Gaughan walked. The Muskies now have built their record to an impressive 15-1.

Sauk Rapids Cyclones 8  Avon Lakers 4   (6/24)

The Cyclones topped Victory South foe the Lakers behind a trio of pitchers for the Cyclones. Charlie Oltz was the starter for the Cyclones; he threw 2 innings, he gave up 3 hits, 4 walks and 4 runs. Then it was basically lights out after that, Bryce Gapinski threw 4 innings, gave up no hits, no walks and 2 strikeouts. Nate Friehammer threw the final 3 innings, he gave up 1 hit, 1 walk and he had 4 strikeouts. Adam Wippler went 2-4 with 2 RBI’s and a run scored and Joel Haller went 1-3, walked, had a sacrifice and 2 RBI’s. Derek Cagle went 1-4, he scored, walked and he had a RBI and Tyler Long was 1-4 with 2 walks. Matt Meyer went 1-4 and he scored a run and David Kroger went 1-4 and scored a run. Paul Schlangen walked 3 times and he scored 2 runs and Charlie Oltz went 1-3 and he scored. For the Lakers, Adam Harlander went 1-3 with a double, scored a run and he had a RBI and Connor Huberty went 1-3, he had a stolen base and a RBI. Riley Voit went 1-4 with a RBI, Dave Kolthoff went 1-3 and Rick Hendrickson walked twice and he scored a run.

St. Cloud Beadreaus Saints 6  St. Joseph Joes  1   (St. Cloud Putz Field (6/24)

The Saints topped Sauk Valley foe the Joes; behind the pitching efforts of D. J. “Big Sexy” Schleicher. He scattered 7 hits, walked 1 and he had 4 strikeouts. Chris Koenig closed it out for the Saints with 2 innings of relief, he gave up a hit and he had a strikeout. Chad Hockemyer went 1-2 with 2 walks and he scored twice and Ryan Schneider went 1-4 with a stolen base and a RBI. Nick Hengel went 1-1 and he scored and Jason Kotschevar walked twice and he scored a run. Brian Minks went 1-5 with a double and he scored, Brad Haag walked and he scored and Tommy Auger walked twice. Starting pitcher for the Joes, R. J. Alpers was the pitcher of record, he threw 3 innings, gave up 3 hits, walked 1, surrendered 1 run and he had 2 strikeouts. Zach Dehler threw 3 innings of relief, he walked 3 and he had 3 strikeouts and Ethan Carlson threw 2 innings, he walked 3, gave up 1 hit, 3 runs and he had 3 strikeouts. Zach Overboe led the Joes offense, he went 2-2, he had a double and he scored a run. Joe Lenorud was 1-1 with a double and R. J. Alpers went 1-1, with a RBI and a stolen base. Brandon Bloch went 1-3, Alex Kendall went 1-4, Caz Novak went 1-4 and Joey Stock went 1-2.

St. Cloud Beadreaus Saints  12  Plato Bluejays 4  (5 Innings) 6/26)

The Beadreaus Saints topped the Bluejays of the Crow River Valley League, the game was stopped in the top of the 6th inning. The Rox of the Northwood League was playing next door at Faber field and they shut off the lights for their fireworks show. So the Saints and the Bluejays decided to call it a game after the 5th inning.

MILLER LITE INVITATIONAL (HAMBURG/GREEN ISLE)

St. Joseph Joes 14  Hamburg Hawks 11 (6/26 Hamburg)

The Joes scored 3 runs in the top of the ninth to break up a tie with the Hawks in the first round of the Miller Lite Invitational. The Joes with a trio of pitchers, starting pitcher Mike Aswell went 3 innings, he did give up 9 hits, walked 2 and he had a strikeout. Josh Wood threw three 3 innings, gave up 4 hits, walked 3 and he had a strikeout. Alex Kendell was nearly lights out, as he earned the win with 3 innings of relief, he walked 2 and he had 4 big strikeouts. Alex Kendal also had his best day as a Joe with the bat, he went 4-6 with 2 doubles, walked once and he scored 2 runs and he drove in 6 big runs.  R. J. Alpers had a great game, as he went 2-5, scored a run, walked and he had 2 RBI’s. Caz Novak had an awesome game, going 3-5, scored 3 runs, walked and he had an RBI. Ethan Carlson went 2-5 and he scored a run and Ben Bierschied went 2-4, scored 2 runs and he had a RBI. Tyler Mueller, went 1-3 with a double, scored 2 runs and he walked 3 times. Aaron “Rockie” Rocheleau went 1-4 with a double, scored a run, walked, sacrifice and a RBI. Joe Stock went 1-5 with a walk, Zach Overboe went 1-5 with a sacrifice to drive in a run and Zach Dehler went 1-1 and he scored.

St. Joseph Joes 10  Milroy Yankees 1  (Hamburg 6/27)

The Joes sent 11 batters to the plate in the 4th inning and they scored 6 runs for a huge win over the Yankees.  R. J. Alpers threw a great game, over 7 innings, he gave up just 4 hits, walked 2 and he had 5 strikeouts. Joe Stock went 1-3 with a big double and a sacrifice to drive in 3 runs. Alex Kendall had another great game, he went 2-3, scored 2 runs, sacrifice, walked and a RBI. Tyler Mueller went 2-2, 2 walks, scored a run and 2 big RBI’s and Caz Novak went 1-4, scored 2 runs, walked and he had a RBI. R. J. Albers went 1-3, scored a run, walked and he had a RBI and Ethan Carlson went 1-2, with 2 sacrifices, scored a run and he walked.

Waconia Lakers 10  St. Joseph Joes 3  (Hamburg 6/28)

The Joes fell to a Crow River Valley power the Lakers of Waconia in the semifinals of this 16 team event. Mike Ashwill was their starting pitcher and he took the loss, he threw 2 innings, gave up 6 hits and 2 walks. Alex Kendall another good relief appearance, he threw 4 innings, gave up 2 hits, walked 3 and he had a strikeout. Willie Willats threw the final inning, he walked 2 and had had a strikeout! Joe Stock led the Joes at the plate, he went 2-3, scored 2 and he had a home run. Zach Overboe went 2-3 with a RBI and Alex Kendall went 1-3 with a double. Tyler Mueller went 1-3 with a double, scored and he walked, Ben Bierschied went 1-1, 2 walks and a RBI and Zach Dehler went 1-1.

STAPLES LUMBERJACK 1ST ANNUAL INVITATIONAL

Both the Cyclones of Sauk Rapids and the Clear Lake Lakers competed in this tournament.

Long Prairie Predators 4  Sauk Rapids 2  (Staples 6/27)

The Cyclones dropped a close one in the quarterfinals of the Lumberjack invite to the Predators of the Resorters East League and they are currently leading their league. Andy Thayer was the Cyclone starting pitcher and pitcher of record, he threw 6 innings and Jeff Hille threw 1 inning of relief. Tom Wippler had 2 hits to lead the Cyclones offense in this game. The Predators went on to defeat Detroit Lakes and Warroad win the championship.

Sauk Rapids Cyclones 10 Elk River Pioneers 5 (Staples 6/27)

The Cyclones topped the Pioneers behind the pitching efforts of Nate Friehammer and Jeff Hille. Nate threw 3 innings and Jeff threw 4 innings of relief. Tommy Wippler, Matt Meyer and Bryce Gapinski all had 2 hits and and each a RBI. Jesse Lavoi had 2 RBI’s and Evan Warnert had a double.

Sauk Rapids Cyclones 5  Staples Lumberjacks 4 (Staples 6/28)

The Cyclones topped the host team the Lumberjacks from the Lake and Pine League behind the pitching of Bryce Gapinski. Bryce threw 6 innings and he recorded 5 strikeouts. Dave Kroger earned the save with 1 inning of relief.  Paul Schlangen went 3-4, Matt Meyer went 2-4, Adam Wippler had a RBI single and David Kroger had a RBI double.

New York Mills Millers 5  Clear Lake Lakers 1 (Staples 6/27)

The Lakers dropped their quarterfinal game of the Lumberjack tourney to the Millers of the Hi-10 League, Millers are currently leading the West division. Austin Ash threw 4 2/3 innings and he took the loss and Brett Stinogel threw 1 2/3 innings of relief. Issy Casper had 2 hits and a RBI and Kyle Sytsma had 2 hits to led the Lakers.

Staples Lumberjacks 5  Clear Lake Lakers 4  (Staples 6/27)

The Lakers dropped their second game to the host the Lumberjacks in a close one.  Matt Korte was the starter for the Lakers, he did threw a complete game. Kyle Sytsma had 3 hits and Brett Stinogel hit a homerun.

Clear Lake Lakers 8  Elk River Pioneers 7  (Staples 6/28)

The Lakers topped the Pioneers behind the pitching of Sam Schoberg. Tyler Mauer had 2 hits including double, Brett Stinogel had 2 hits. Brent scored from second base on a wild pitch.

Hutchinson Huskies 8 Kimball Express 7  (Hutchinson 6/26)

The Express dropped to North Star League foe the Huskies, Zach Kuefler was the pitcher of record.  He threw 4 innings, gave up 5 hits, walked 9 and he had 3 strikeouts. Matt Dingmann was the starter, he went 3 innings, gave up 3 hits, walked 1 and he had 2 strikeouts and he surrendered 2 runs. Jordan Joseph had a great game, he went 3-5 with a double and 3 RBI’s and Troy Filzen went 2-4 with a walk. Zach Kuefler went 2-6 and he scored and Ben Johnson went 2-5. Brooks Marquardt went 1-5 with a RBI, Ty Morrison went 1-3 and he scored and Matt Dingmann went 1-4, he had a double and he scored twice.

Maple Lake Lakers 18  St. Augusta Gussies 8  (8 Innings) (Maple Lake 6/24)

The Gussies took on one of the top Class C teams in the state from the tough North Star League, they did fall short. The pitcher of record was Nate Laudenbach, he threw 3 innings, gave up 9 hits, walked 3, gave up 10 runs and he had 3 strikeouts. Travis Laudenbach threw 3 innings of relief, gave up 5 hits, 2 walks and 2 runs. Aaron Fruth threw 3 innings of relief, he gave up 4 hits, walked 1 and he had 3 strikeouts. The Gussies did score 8 runs and they left 8 runners on base, so a couple of key hits sure could have made it interesting. Aaron Fruth had a good game, as he went 2-3 with 3 RBI’s  and a walk and Dustin Schultzenburg went 2-5, scored 2 runs and he walked. Nate Gwost went 1-3 with a big 2 run homer and he walked and Marcus Lommel went 1-4 scored, he had 2 RBI’s and he walked. Adam Gwost went 1-3 with a RBI and a walk, Nate Benoit went 2-1 with a run scored and Travis Laudenbach went 1-2.

Litchfield Blues 10 Montrose-Waverly Stingers 1  (Litchfield 6/24)

The Blues topped the Stingers from the North Star League behind the pitching of Austin Larson, the starter and pitcher of record. He threw 6 innings, gave up just 2 hits, walked 1 and he had 1 strikeout. Tyler Kielty threw 1 inning of relief and Jacob Johnson threw 2 innings of relief, he walked 3 and he had 6 strikeouts.  The Blues pounded out 12 hits; led by Eric Hulterstrum, he went 3-4 with a RBI. Lucas Johnson went 2-3 with a big 2 run homer in the 5th inning and Riley Johnson went 1-1 with 2 RBI’s. Dylan Koll went 1-3 with a RBI, Derek Koll went 1-2 with a RBI and Jake Jones went 1-1 with a double and a RBI. Jake Schultz went 1-1 with a RBI, Carson Deal went 1-3 and Matt Spreitter went 1-3
