Central Minnesota Town Ball Report: Sartell Muskies roll in pair of victories

Back for a sixth season as a contributing writer for the Minnesota Amateur Baseball Association with your weekly amateur baseball (Town Team) baseball reports. Including not only game summaries, but upcoming schedules, league standings. Tournament summaries and an occasional special interest feature. CENTRAL VALLEY LEAGUE

WATKINS CLIPPERS 12, ST. AUGUSTA GUSSIES 4 (5/13/2018)

The Clippers defeated their Central Valley League rivals the Gussies, they collected 14 hits, including a pair of extra-base hits. Veteran lefty Dan Berg, started on the mound, he scattered six hits, issued one walk and he recorded four strikeouts to earn the win. Dustin Kramer threw 2 2/3 innings in relief, he gave up five hits, issued a pair of walks, surrendered four runs and he recorded two strikeouts. Kevin Kramer had a great game, he went 3-for-5 with a home run and a double for two RBIs and he scored three runs. Tyler Hebrink had a great game, he went 3-for-5 for two RBIs and he scored a pair of runs. Lincoln Haugen went 2-for-4 with a RBI, he earned a walk and he scored one run. Rees Jansen went 2-for-4 for two RBIs, he had three stolen bases and he scored one run. Matt Geislinger went 1-for-3 got one RBI, he earned a walk, he was hit by a pitch, one stolen base and he scored a pair of runs. Heath Kramer went 2-for-5 and he scored a pair of runs, Berg went 1-for-4 with a sacrifice fly for a RBI and he scored a run and Carson Geislinger earned a walk and he was credited with a pair of RBIs.

The Gussies’ Travis Laudenbach started on the mound, he was the pitcher of record. He gave up nine hits, issued a pair of walk, surrendered two runs and he recorded four strikeouts. Dustin Schulzetenberg went 2-for-4 with a double and he scored a run and Marcus Lommel went 1-for-4 with a double for two RBIs and he scored a run. Nate Laudenbach went 1-for-4 with two RBIs and Adam Gwost went 1-for-3 with a double. Brady Grafft went 2-for-4 and Zach Laudenbach went 2-for-3. Mitch Gwost went 1-for-4 and Matt Skaja earned a walk and he scored a run. Aaron Fruth earned a walk, Adam Benoit earned a walk and Eric Primus scored a run.

KIMBALL EXPRESS 4, ST. NICHOLAS NICKS 0 (5/13/2018)

The Express defeated their Central Valley League rivals the Nicks, backed by 10 hits, including four doubles and a home run. The Express’ Zach Dingmann, started on the mound, he threw four innings, he gave up five hits, issued two walks and he recorded seven strikeouts. Matt Dingmann threw three innings in relief, to earn the win. He gave up two hits, issued one walk and he recorded five strikeouts. Ben Johnson threw two innings in relief, he issued one walk and he recorded two strikeouts to earn the save. Scott Marquardt went 1-for-1 with a two-run home run and Adam Beyer went 2-for-3 with a double and he earned a walk. Zach Sufka went 2-for-4 with a double and Austin Ruehle went 1-for-5 with a double. Brian Marquardt went 1-for-4 with a double and Ben Johnson went 1-for-3 with a sacrifice fly for a RBI. Brooks Marquardt went 1-for-4 and he scored a run, Zak Wallner went 1-for-4 and he scored a pair of runs and Joey VanWahlde was credited with a RBI.

The Nicks’ Travis Hanson threw a complete game, he gave up 10 hits, issued one walk, surrendered four runs and he recorded three strikeouts. Robert Lutgen went 2-for-5 with two stolen bases and Tanner Hansen went 1-for-4 with a double. Andrew Bautch went 2-for-4 and Sam Moriarty went 1-for-4. Jon Hofer wnt 1-for-4 and Travis Hansen, Brett Hoer, Grant Mrozek and Alex Foehrenbacher all earned walks.

LUXEMBURG BREWERS 4, PEARL LAKE LAKERS 1 (5/13/2018)

The Brewers defeated their Central Valley League rivals the Lakers, backed by 13 hits, including three extra-base hits. The Brewers starting pitcher, lefty Austin Klaverkamp threw six innings to earn the win. He scattered five hits, issued two walks, surrendered one run and he recorded 10 strikeouts. Right-hander, Reed Pfannenstein threw three innings in relief, he recorded seven strikeouts. Sam Iten had a good game, he went 2-for-5 with a home run for three big RBIs. Chase Aleshire went 1-for-3 with a double, he earned three walks and he scored a run. Ethyn Fruth went 1-for-4 with a double for a RBI and Luke Harren went 3-for-6 and he scored a run. Austin Klaverkamp went 2-for-4, he earned a walk and he scored one run and Rhett Fruth went 1-for-4. Derrick Orth went 1-for-5 and Reed Pfannenstein went 1-for-3 and he was hit by a pitch. Chris Knaus went 1-for-1, Sam Matchinsky and J. T. Harren both earned walks.

The Lakers’ Mitchell Wieneke started on the mound, he threw 6 1/3 innings, he gave up nine hits, issued three walks, surrendered two runs and he recorded five strikeouts. Lefty Mitch Ergen threw 1 2/3 innings in relief, he gave up three hits, one walk, two runs and he recorded two strikeouts. Justin Kunkel threw one inning in relief, he gave up one hit, two walks and he recorded one strikeout. Colton Fruth went 2-for-4 with a double and Ryan Wieneke went 1-for-4 with a RBI. Justin Kunkel went 1-for-4, with a stolen base and he scored a run and Chadd Kunkel went 1-for-3. Andy Linn went 1-for-4, Mitch Wieneke was hit by a pitch and he earned a walk and Max Fuchs earned a walk.

PEARL LAKE LAKERS 15, COLD SPRING ROCKIES 14 (5/12/2018)

The Lakers defeated their Central Valley League rivals the Rockies, in a bit of a slugfest. The Lakers outhit the Rockies 14 to 13, as three Laker pitchers battled the Rockies. Alex Miller started on the mound, he threw 5 1/3 innings, he gave up six hits, issued a pair of walks, surrendered seven runs and he recorded five strikeouts. Lefty Mitch Ergen threw 2 2/3 innings in relief, he gave up seven hits, issued four walks, surrendered seven runs and he recorded three strikeouts. Justin Kunkel threw the final inning in relief, to earn the win, he issued a walk. Chad Kunkel had a big game, he went 3-for-5 with a home run and a double for five big RBIs, he earned a walk and he scored three runs. Craig Pfannenstein had a busy day, he went 2-for-3 with a double for a RBI, he was hit by a pitch, he earned a pair of walks and he scored three runs. Mitch Wieneke went 2-for-4, he earned a pair of walks and he scored two runs and Ryan Wieneke went 1-for-4 with two RBIs, he earned a walk and he was hit by a pitch. Colton Fruth went 1-for-3 with one RBI, he earned three walks and he scored a pair of runs. Justin Kunkel went 1-for-5 with a double for a RBI, he earned a walk and he scored a run. Max Fuchs went 2-for-5 with a RBI, he earned a walk and he scored a pair of runs and Mitch Kunkel went 1-for-1 for a RBI, he earned a walk and he scored a pair of runs. Andy Linn went 1-for-3 with sacrifice bunt and one RBI and Mitch Ergen earned a walk and he had a sacrifice bunt.

The Rockies’ Trevor Lardy started on the mound, he ran into some control issues, as he did issued four walks, gave up one hit and he surrendered one run, he threw 2/3 of an inning. Chris Sundmark threw 4 1/3 innings in relief, he gave up six hits, issued three walks, surrendered four runs and he recorded six strikeouts. Austin Mehr threw two innings in relief, he was the pitcher of record. He gave up four hits, issued four walks, surrendered five runs and he recorded one strikeout. Andrew Allar closed it out for the Rockies, with 1 1/3 of an inning in relief, he gave up three hits, issued a pair of walks, surrendered five runs and he recorded two strikeouts. Calvin Kalthoff had big game, he went 3-for-5 with a home run for four big RBIs and he earned a walk. Jordan Neu had a good game, he went 3-for-5 with four RBIs, he was hit by a pitch and he scored a pair of runs. Pat Hemmingson went 3-for-4 with a sacrifice bunt, a stolen base and he scored a run. Kevin Wenner went 2-for-5, with four stolen bases, he earned a walk and he scored five runs. David Jonas went 1-for-6 with three RBIs and he scored a run and Austin Mehr was credited with a pair of RBIs, he earned a pair of walks and he had a stolen base. Andrew Allar went 1-for-5, he earned a walk and he scored a run, Nick Skluzacek earned a pair of walks and he scored two runs and Marshal Wirtzfeld scored a run.

The Muskies defeated the Sauk Valley League rivals the Lakers. The Muskies’ David Deminsky, started on the mound, he threw six innings to earn the win. He gave up just three hits, issued no walks and he recorded 12 strikeouts. Jace Otto had a good game, he went 2-for-4 with a triple and a double for a RBI, he earned a walk and he scored three runs. Cody Partch had a good game, he went 2-for-2 with a double for a RBI, he earned a pair of walks and he scored a pair of runs. Brain Schellinger went 2-for-3 for two RBIs, he earned a walk and he scored a run. Jonah Nebois went 2-for-4 with a RBI and Tim Burns earned four walks, two stolen bases and he scored two runs. Andrew Deters had a sacrifice bunt, one stolen base and he scored a run and Dan O’Connell was credited with a RBI, he was hit by a pitch, one stolen base and he scored a run. Brandon Kramer was credited with a RBI and Braeden Dykhuizen earned a walk.

The Lakers’ lefty Mike Smith started on the mound, he threw six innings, he gave up seven hits, issued seven walks, surrendered eight runs and he recorded seven strikeouts. Tyler Mauer threw the final 2/3 of an inning, he gave up one hit, two walks and two runs. Cole Gueningsman went 1-for-3 with a double, Jordan Golombiecki went 1-for-2 and Izzy Carper went 1-for-2.

SARTELL MUSKIES 23, ST. JOSEPH JOES 2 (7 In.) (5/13/18)

The Muskies defeated their Sauk Valley League rivals the Joes, in a game where they took advantage of some early control issues by the Joe’s pitcher. The Muskies did collect 20 hits, including six extra-base hits. The Muskies’ starting pitcher, lefty Johnny Schumer threw five innings to earn the win. He scattered five hits, issued one walk, surrendered two runs and he recorded seven strikeouts. Adam Wenker threw two innings of relief, he recorded five strikeouts. The Muskies were led on offense by Andrew Deters, he had a very good day, he went 3-for-5 with a home run and two doubles for four RBIs and he scored a pair of runs. Jace Otto had a good game, he went 5-for-6 with three doubles for two RBIs and he scored a pair of runs. Cody Partch went 3-for-4, he was his by a pitch twice and he scored three runs and Tim Burns went 2-for-5 with a RBI and he scored three runs. Adam Schellinger went 1-for-3 for three RBIs and he scored two runs and Brandon Kramer went 2-for-3, he earned a walk and he scored two runs. Grant Mackenthun went 1-for-2 for two RBIs and he scored a run and Braeden Dykhuizen went 1-for-1 with two RBIs and he scored two runs. Josh Nebosis went 1-for-4, he earned a walk and he scored three runs and Brian Schellinger went 1-for-5 and he scored a pair of runs.

The Joe’s, Alex Kendall started on the mound, he threw three innings, he gave up six hits, issued three walks and he surrendered seven runs. Greg Anderson threw 2 2/3 innings in relief, he gave up 11 hits, issued a pair of walks and surrendered sixteen runs. Jack Atkinson threw 1 1/3 innings of relief, he gave up three hits and he recorded two strikeouts. Peter Nelson went 1-for-4 with a double and he scored a run and Tanner Aleshire went 2-for-4. Charles Vaughan went 1-for-3 and he scored a run, Isaac Holthaus earned a walk and Jack Atkinson earned a walk.

STEARNS COUNTY LEAGUE

LAKE HENRY LAKERS 12, FARMING FLAMES 2 (8 In) (5/12/2018)

The Lakers defeated their Stearns County North Division rivals the Flames, as they did take advantage of some control issues by the Flame pitchers. The Lakers were patient hitters, as they collected 11 walks in total, but were actually outhit seven to five by the Flames. The Lakers’ lefty Weston Brinkman started on the mound, he threw six innings to earn the win. He scattered seven hits, issued four walks, he surrendered two runs and he recorded four strikeouts. Another young lefty, Aaron Savelkoul, threw two innings in relief, he issued three walks. The Lakers sent 13 batters to the plate, and nine walks and a pair of hits and they had put up nine runs. The Lakers were led by Nick Dingman on offense, he went 3-for-5 with a double for three RBIs and he scored a run. Grant Ludwig had a good game both at third base and at the plate, he went 2-for-4 with a pair of RBIs, he had a stolen base and he scored a run. Jason Kampson had a sacrifice fly, he was credited with a pair of RBIs, he scored two runs and he earned a pair of walks. Shane Kampson earned four walks and he scored three runs and Aaron Savelkoul was credited with a RBI, he earned a pair of walks and he scored a run. Sam Hopfer earned a pair of walks and he scored two runs and Josh Kampson earned a walk and he scored a pair of runs. Adam Miller earned a walk and he scored a run, Adam Jaeger the 152-pound state wrestling champion, earned a walk and Max Weidner was hit by a pitch.

The Flames’ lefty Kyle Zierden started on the mound, he was the pitcher of record. He threw four innings, he gave up just one hit, he issued eight walks and he recorded one strikeout. Veteran lefty Brad Mergen threw four innings. He did have a little control issued to start,  he did record nine strikeouts, he issued three walks and he gave up four hits. Eric Schmidt had a good game, he went 1-for-2 with two RBIs, to give the Flames their only lead of the game and he earned a walk. Kyle Zierden went 1-for-2, he earned a walk and he scored a run and Aaron Eiynck went 2-for-4. Cody Fourre went 1-for-4 with a double and he scored a run and Tylor Schroeder went 1-for-2, he earned a walk and he was hit by a pitch. Brad Mergen, Chad Mergen, Mike Kosen and Adam Winkels all earned walks.

ELROSA SAINTS 5, ST. MARTIN MARTINS 2 (5/13/2018)

The Saints defeated their Stearns County League rivals the Martins, backed by the Saints pair of right-handers. Ethan Vogt started on the mound, he threw seven innings to earn the win. He scattered four hits, surrendered one run and he recorded 10 strikeouts. Aaron Vogt threw two innings in relief to earn the save. He gave up three hits, surrendered one run and he recorded three strikeouts. Brady Weller had a good game, he went 2-for-4 with a RBI and he scored a run. Matt Schmitz went 1-for-4 for two RBIs and he a sacrifice bunt and Cody Eichers went 2-for-3 with a triple and he earned a pair of walks. Play/manager A.J. Hadley earned a pair of walks and Derek Wiener was hit by a pitch and he scored a run. Austin Imdieke earned a walk and he scored a run, Ryan Illies scored a run and James Kuefler and Ethan Vogt both earned walks.

The Martins’ Jaylyn Arceneau started on the mound, he threw three innings, he issued three walks, surrendered two runs and he recorded four strikeouts. Scott Schlangen threw two innings in relief, he recorded one strikeout. Kyle Lieser threw two innings in relief, he gave up one hit, issued three walks, one run and he recorded four strikeouts. Bryan Schlangen threw one inning in relief, he gave up one hit, two runs, one walk and he recorded two strikeouts. Jaylyn Arceneau went 1-for-1 with a double for a RBI and Mathew Schlangen went 1-for-3 with a RBI. Joshua Stangler went 1-for-4 with a RBI and Bryan Schlangen went 1-for-3 and he was hit by a pitch. Avery Schmitz went 1-for-1 and he scored a run, Derek Stroeing went 1-for-2 and he scored a run and Scott Schlangen went 1-for-4.

SPRING HILL CHARGERS 6, NEW MUNICH SILVERSTREAKS 2 (5/13)

The Chargers defeated their Stearns County League rivals the Silverstreaks, backed by 10 hits and good pitching performances. Jordan Welle, started on the mound, he threw eight innings, he gave up five hits, issued two walks, surrendered two runs and he recorded three strikeouts. Eric Terres threw one inning in relief, to earn the win, he gave up two hits and he issued one walk. Eric Schoenberg went 2-for-4 with two doubles for two RBIs and Jaime Terres went 2-for-4 with two doubles for two RBIs and he scored a pair of runs. Nathan Terres went 3-for-4 with a double for two RBIs and Austin Schoenberg went 1-for-4, he earned a walk and he scored two runs. Eric Terres went 1-for-5, he earned walk and he had a sacrifice fly. Jordan Orbeck went 1-for-4 and he earned a walk and Owen Meyer went 1-for-4 and he scored a run.

The Silversteaks’ veteran Jim Thull started on the mound, he threw four innings, he gave up seven hits, issued one walk, surrendered six runs and he recorded two strikeouts. Nick Stangler threw three innings in relief, he gave up two hits, issued one walk an he recorded one strikeout. Will Funk threw one inning in relief, he issue one walk and he gave up one hit. Chad Funk went 2-for-5 and Nick Stangler went 1-for-4 and he scored a run. Grant Johnson earned a walk, he was hit by a pitch and he was credited with a RBI,  Will Funk earned two walks and he scored a run and Logan Funk went 1-for-1.

MEIRE GROVE GROVERS 6, GREENWALD CUBS 2 (5/13/2018)

The Grovers defeated their Stearns County League rivals the Cubs, backed by a 12-hit attack. The Grovers starting pitcher, Jordan Moscho threw five innings to earn the win. He gave up just three hits, issued one walk, surrendered two runs and he recorded three strikeouts. Matt Imdieke threw four innings in relief to earn the save, he gave up two hits and he recorded one strikeout. Andrew Welle went 3-for-5 with a double and he scored two runs. Jordan Klaphake went 2-for-4 with a double, he was hit by a pitch, one stolen base and he scored a run. Drake Meyer went 3-for-4 with a RBI, he had a stolen base, earned one walk and he scored a run. Alex Welle went 1-for-5 with two big RBIs and Tanner Klaphake went 1-for-4, he earned a walk, had a stolen base and he scored one run. Kurt Marthaler went 1-for-4 with a RBI, Ryan Olmscheid went 1-for-3 and Tyler Moscho earned a walk.

The Lakers defeated their Victory League South rivals the Saints, backed by 11 hits, including three extra-base hits. The Lakers’ Matt Pichelman started on the mound, he threw seven innings to earn the win. He scattered four hits, surrendered one run and he recorded five strikeouts. Shane Olmsheid threw one inning in relief, he gave up one hit, one walk and he recorded a strikeout. Adam Harlander threw one inning of relief, he gave up three hits, one walk, one run and he recorded two strikeouts. Will Kleinschmidt had a big game, he went 2-for-4 with two doubles, a sacrifice fly for two RBIs and he scored a pair of runs, Caleb Curry had a good game, he went 3-for-4 for a RBI and he scored a run. Taylor Holthaus went 1-for-5 with a triple for two big RBIs and he scored a run. Tony Harlander went 1-for-2 with a pair of RBIs and Tony Schoenberg went 1-for-2 for a RBI and he scored a run. Matt Meyer went 1-for-4, he earned a walk and he scored two runs and Riley Voit went 1-for-3. Carter Holthaus earned a pair of walks and he scored a pair of runs. The Saints’ Sam Butler started on the mound, he threw seven innings, he was the pitcher of record. He gave up seven hits, issued five walks, seven runs and he recorded five strikeouts. John Pogatchnik threw one inning in relief, he gave up four hits, three runs, one walk and he recorded one strikeout. Lee Maciej went 2-for-4 with a double and he scored a run and Russ Fellbaum went 2-for-4 with a RBI. Sam Butler went 2-for-4 with a RBI and Blake Patrick went 1-for-5 with a stolen base. ST. STEPHEN STEVES 6, ROYALTON RIVER DOGS 3 (5/13/2018)

The Steves defeated their Victory League rivals the Riverdogs, backed by 12 hits. The Steves’ Nick Krippner started on the mound, he gave up two hits, issued six walks, three runs and he recorded six strikeouts. Austin Guggenberger threw four innings in relief to earn the win, he gave up two hits and he recorded two strikeouts. Austin Guggenberger went 3-for-6 with two big RBIs and Brandon Waldvogel went 2-for-2 for a RBI, he had a sacrifice bunt, he earned two walks and he scored a run. Cody Wolhart went 2-for-3 for a RBI and he earned a walk and Tony Schmitz went 1-for-4 with a double and he earned a walk. Blake Guggenberger went 1-for-4 with a sacrifice fly for a RBI and Ben Oman went 1-for-4, he earned a pair of walks and he scored two runs. Nick Krippner went 1-for-4 with a RBI and he had a sacrifice bunt and T.J. Bevens went 1-for-5 and he scored a run.

The River Dogs’ Nate Psyck started on the mound, he threw seven innings, he gave up nine hits, issued five walks, three runs and he recorded three strikeouts. Hunter Young threw two innings in relief, he gave up three hits, three walks and he surrendered three runs. Austin Zapzalka went 2-for-3, he was hit by a pitch, he earned a walk and he scored a run. Cole Jendro went 1-for-3 with a double for two RBIs, he earned a walk and he scored one run. The Black Sox defeated their Victory League South rivals the Bears, backed by 14 hits and good pitching performances. The Black Sox’s, Mitch Reller, started on the mound, he threw eight innings, he gave up seven hits and he recorded five strikeouts. Christian Bartello threw the final inning in relief. Eric Evaslage had a good game, he went 3-for-3 with a pair of RBIs and he scored a pair of runs. Carter Sawyer had a good game, he went 2-for-4 with two RBIs, a stolen base and he earned a walk. Trevor Sawyer went 2-for-3 for a RBI, he was hit by a pitch and he scored a run. Jake Braegelmann went 2-for-5 with a stolen base and he scored a run. Brandon Sawyer went 1-for-3, he was hit twice by a pitch and he scored a pair of runs. Troy Frieler went 1-for-4, he earned a walk and he scored a run and Bryan Benson went 1-for-4 and he scored a run. Ike Sawyer had a sacrifice fly for a RBI and he earned three walks.

The Bears’ David Bialka, started on the mound, he threw three innings, he gave up nine hits, issued one walk, surrendered seven runs and he recorded one strikeout. Austin Gerads threw five innings in relief, he gave up five hits, one walk and he recorded three strikeouts. Peter Schumer threw one inning in relief, he issued one walk and he record two strikeouts. Zach Bialka went 2-for-4 with a double and David Bialka went 1-for-3. Isaiah Folsom and John Pelarski both went 1-for-4 and Scott Binek and Austin Gerads both went 1-for-3.

COLD SPRING SPRINGERS 6, RAYMOND ROCKETS 4 (5/11/2018)

The Springers got their season started with a big win over Class C state power, the Rockets of the Corn Belt League. The Springers collected seven hits, that was enough for the three right handers to hold off the Rockets. Veteran righty Zach Femrite started on the mound, he threw three innings, he gave up one hit, issued no walks and he recorded five strikeouts, to earn the win. Big right-hander, Chris Butala threw three innings in relief, he gave up three hits, issued one walk and he surrendered four runs. Jack Arnold threw three innings in relief to earn the save, he gave up no hits, issued one walk and he recorded three strikeouts. Joe Dempsey had a good game, he went 2-for-3 with a double, for two big RBIs, he earned a walk and he scored a run. Brad Olson went 2-for-5 for a RBI, he earned a walk and he scored a run and Eric Loxtercamp went 2-for-5 with a double and he scored a run. Veteran Drew VanLoy went 1-for-4 with a RBI and he earned a walk and Garrett Fuchs went 1-for-4, he earned a walk and he scored a run. BEAUDREAUS SAINTS 20, RICHMOND ROYALS 9 (5/13/2018)

The Saints of the Lakewood League defeated the Royals of the Stearns County League in exhibition action in Richmond. The Saints collected 19 hits, including 11 extra-base hits, including five home runs and six doubles. The Saints’ lefty Nick Maiers started on the mound, he threw three innings, he gave up five hits, issued a pair of walks, surrendered five runs and he recorded four strikeouts. Crafty, Veteran Dan Kroenberg threw three innings in relief, he gave up seven hits, four runs and he recorded one strikeout. Reese Gregory threw two innings in relief, he gave up one hit and he recorded a strikeout. Reese Gregory had a big day at the plate, he went 4-for-6 with three home runs or seven RBIs. Brian Minks had good game, he went 3-for-6 with a home run and a double for three RBIs and he scored four runs. Nick Maiers had good game, he went 4-for-6 with a home run and a double and he scored a pair of runs. Tom Spaniol went 3-for-5, with a double for four RBIs and he scored two runs. Nick Hengel went 1-for-4, he was hit by a pitch and he scored three runs and Chad Hockemeyer went 1-for-4 with a double for two RBIs, he earned a walk and he scored two runs. Zach Metzger went 1-for-6 with a stolen base and he scored a run and Jason Kotschevar earned three walks and he scored a pair of runs.

The Royals’ starting pitcher, D. J. Schleicher threw 2 2/3 innings, he gave up 13 hits, 12 runs. Luke Jokela threw 3 1/3 innings in relief, he gave up two hits, two walks, two runs and he recorded three strikeouts. COLD SPRING ROCKIES 16, FARMING FLAMES 8 (5/11/2018)

The Rockies of the Central Valley League defeated the Flames of the Stearns County League in exhibition action in Farming. The Rockies collected 17 hits, that was more than enough for the versatile veteran, David Jonas. Jonas started on the mound and he battled the Flames for all nine innings, he gave up 11 hits, issued three walks, surrendered eight runs and he recorded seven strikeouts. The Rockies had eight players with multi-hit games. Jordan Neu had a good game, he went 3-for-5, had a sacrifice fly for three big RBIs, he scored three runs and he had a stolen base. Cal Kolthoff went 2-for-5 with  a RBI, he earned a walk and he scored a run and Andrew Allar went 2-for-5 with a double, he earned a walk and he scored a pair of runs. Jake Hennen went 2-for-4 with a triple for two RBIs, he was hit by a pitch and he scored a run. Jonas went 2-for-4 with a RBI, he earned a pair of walks, a stolen base and he scored a pair of runs. Pat Hemingson went 2-for-3 for a RBI, he was hit by a pitch, and he scored a pair of runs. Mohr went 2-for-5 and he scored a pair of runs and Nick Skluzacek went 2-for-5, he scored a pair of runs and he earned a walk. Trevor Lardy went 1-for-4 with a RBI and he earned a walk and Marsh was credited with a RBI, he earned a pair of walks and he scored a run.

The Flames’ Chad Mergen started on the mound, he threw four innings, he gave up four hits, issued three walks, surrendered three runs and he recorded two strikeouts. Dylan Panek threw 2 1/3 innings in relief, he gave up six hits, he issued three walks, surrendered five runs and he recorded three strikeouts. Cody Fourre went 1-for-3 and he earned a walk, Eric Schmitt scored a run and he had a stolen base, Hunter Mergen went 1-for-1 and Kyle Zierden scored a run.

LUXEMBURG BREWERS 5, CLEAR LAKE LAKERS 3 (5/9/2018)

The Brewers of the Central Valley League defeated the Lakers of the Sauk Valley League in exhibition action in Clear Lake. The Brewers outhit the Lakers nine to three, including two extra-base hits in this seven-inning game. Chase Aleshire started on the mound for the Brewers, he threw four innings, he gave up just one hit, issued three walks, surrendered three runs and he recorded five strikeouts. Lefty Austin Klaverkamp threw two innings to earn the win, he gave up one hit and he recorded five strikeouts. The Brewers’ right-hander, Reed Pfannenstein, threw one inning in relief to earn the save, he issued one walk. Veteran Sam Iten went 2-for-3 with a sacrifice fly for two big RBIs. Austin Klaverkamp went 2-for-3, with a stolen base and he scored a run and Reed Pfannenstein went 2-for-3 with a big triple, he scored one run and he was hit by a pitch. Veteran lefty, Derrick Orth went 1-for-1 with a double and he scored a run and J.T. Harren went 1-for-1 for a RBI. Sam Matchinsky went 1-for-2, he scored a run, he earned a walk and he had a stolen base and player/manager Corey Wenz went 1-for-1 with a sacrifice bunt. Rhett Fruth had a sacrifice fly for a RBI, Shea Rosha earned a walk and he scored a run and Luke Harren earned a pair of walks.

The Lakers’ Mike Golombiecki started on the mound, he threw all seven innings. He gave up eight hits, issued four walks, surrendered five runs and he recorded four strikeouts. Tyler Maurer went 1-for-3 and Ryan Szymanski went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases. Ben Anderson earned a pair of walks, he had two stolen bases and he scored a run. Adam Smith earned a walk, one stolen base and he scored a run and Cole Gueningsman earned a walk and he had a stolen base. Richard Thompson was credited with a RBI, Matt Korte had a stolen base and he scored a run and Jordan Prill had a pair of stolen bases.

ST. STEPHEN STEVES 10, ST. AUGUSTA GUSSIES 4 (5/9/2018)

The Steves of the Victory League South defeated the Gussies of the Central Valley League in exhibition action in St. Stephen. The Steves outhit the Gussies 15 to five, including a pair of doubles. The Steves’ Andy Stolt started on the mound, he threw five innings, he scattered four hits, issued three walks, surrendered three runs and he recorded three strikeouts. Tall right-hander, Tony Schmitz, threw two innings in relief, he recorded a pair of strikeouts. Chris Belling issued one walk and he gave up one run. Player/manager, Ben Oman threw two innings in relief, he gave up one hit and he issued a pair of walks.

The Steves were led by several individuals with offensive power, Nick Krippner went 3-for-3 with four big RBIs and he scored a run. Ben Oman had a good game, he went 2-for-4, with a double for two big RBIs, he earned a walk and he scored a pair of runs. Blake Guggenberger went 3-for-5, he earned a walk and he scored a run and Chris Belling went 2-for-4 with a RBI. T.J. Bevans went 2-for-5 with a double and he scored a run and Alex Wolhart went 1-for-5 with a RBI and he scored a pair of runs. Tony Schmitz went 2-for-5 and he scored a run and, Ben Bierschied earned a walk, was hit by a pitch and he scored a pair of runs and Charlie Slivnik was credited with a RBI and he earned a walk.

The Gussies’ right-hander Dan Swan started on the mound, he threw six innings, he scattered eights, surrendered one run and he recorded six strikeouts. Dustin Schulzetenberg threw three innings in relief, he gave up seven hits, issued four walks, surrendered nine runs and he recorded one strikeout. Luke Richardson went 2-for-5 with a double and he scored a run and Dan Swan went 1-for-3 with a double and he earned a walk. Aaron Fruth went 1-for-3 for a pair of RBIs and Dustin Schulzetenberg went 1-for-5 and he scored a run. Mitch Gwost had sacrifice fly for a RBI and he earned a pair walks and Tanner Toenjes was credited with a RBI. Marcus Lommel scored a pair of runs and Zach Laudenbach earned a walk.

The Royals of the Stearns County League defeated the foe from the Central Valley League at Richmond. The Royals outhit the Nicks 18 to 16, including two extra-base hits. Lefty Dan Hanson started on the mound, he threw 5 2/3 innings, he gave up 11 hits, issued one walk, surrendered five walks and he recorded three strikeouts. Veteran Blaine Athmann threw 2 1/3 innings in relief to earn the win, he gave up five hits, issued no walks and he recorded six strikeouts. Dylan Jude had a good game, he went 3-for-4 with three big RBIs, he earned a walk and he scored a run. Kyle Budde had a good game, he went 3-for-4 with a double for two RBIs, he was hit by a pitch and he scored a pair of runs. Veteran Cole Schmitz, went 3-for-5 with a double for two RBIs and he scored run and Dusty Adams went 2-for-2 with two RBIs and he scored three runs. Adam Backes went 2-for-5 with two RBIs and he scored a pair of runs and Andy Hadley went 2-for-4 with a sacrifice fly for a RBI and he scored a run. Grant Thomas was credited with three RBIs and Connor Dols went 1-for-4, he was hit by a pitch and he scored three runs. Dan Hansen went 1-for-1, Trent Gertken earned a pair of walks and he scored a run and D.J. Schleicher earned a pair of walks.

The Nicks’ Grant Mrozek started on the mound, he threw five innings, he gave up seven hits, three runs and he issued four walks. The Dragon threw two innings in relief, he gave up 10 hits, 10 runs and he issued three walks. Al Foehenbacker had a good game, he went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and Travis Hanson went 3-for-4 with a double for a RBI. Tanner Anderson went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and Robert Lutgen went 2-for-4 and he scored a pair of runs. Jeff Lutgen went 2-for-4 and he scored a pair of runs and Brett Hofer went 1-for-4 with a double for a RBI and Sam Moriarty went 1-for-4 and he scored a run. The Black Sox of the Victory League South division defeated the Titans of the Resorters East division, backed by a pair of new signees. Lefty Cody Rose started on the mound for the Black Sox, he threw seven innings to earn the win. He scattered seven hits, issued three walks, surrendered three runs and he recorded seven strikeouts. Edwin Zambrano threw two innings in relief, to earn the save. The Sox were led by Bryan Benson, he went 1-for-4 with a double for two big RBIs and he scored a run. Eric Eveslage went 1-for-3 with a double  for a RBI and he earned a walk. Jake Braggelman went 1-for-4 with a double, he earned a walk and he scored a pair of runs. Carter Sawyer went 1-for-3 for a RBI, he earned a walk and he scored a run. Issac Sawyer went 1-for-4 for a RBI. Brandon Sawyer was credited with one RBI, he earned three walks and he scored a pair of runs. Zach Mettenberg earned a walk and he scored a run, Trevor Sawyer earned a walk and he scored a run and Cody Rose earned a walk.

The Titans’ Ethan Meyer, started on the mound, he threw six innings, he was the pitcher of record. He gave up four hits, issued four walks, surrendered four runs and he recorded five strikeouts. Tyler Schwinghamer threw 1/3 of an inning of relief, he issue five walks, one hit and he surrendered four runs. Luke VanBeck threw 1 2/3 inning in relief and he record two strikeouts. Dylan Haskamp went 2-5 with three RBIs and Brian Beuning went 3-for-5. Derek Holm went 2-3, he earned a walk, he was hit by a pitch and he scored a pair of runs. The Joes of the Sauk Valley League defeated the Raildogs of the Red River Amateur League in game one of a double hitter. The Joes’ Nathan Mohs started on the mound, he threw four innings to earn the win, he gave up two hits, issued a pair of walks, surrendered one run and he recorded four strikeouts. Tanner Aleshire threw 1 2/3 innings in relief, he gave up two hits, issued two walks, three runs and he recorded three strikeouts. Isaac Holthaus threw 1 1/3 innings in relief, he issued one walk and he recorded three strikeouts. Brandon Bloch had a good game, he went 3-for-4 with three big RBIs. Isaac Holthaus went 3-for-3 with a RBI and he scored a run and Hunter Blommer went 1-for-2 with a double for a RBI, he was hit by a pitch, earned one walk, had two stolen bases and he scored one run. Peter Nelson went 1-for-3, he earned a walk, he had two stolen bases and he scored a pair of runs. Greg Anderson had a sacrifice fly for a RBI and he scored a run, Willie Willats went 1-for-3 and Charles Vaughan earned a walk and he scored a run.

The Raildogs defeated the Joes in the second game of their double hitter. Their starting pitcher, Luke Gable, threw a complete game, he gave up just two hits, issued a pair of walks, surrendered one run and he recorded seven strikeouts. Josh Moser had a good game, he went 2-for-4 with a double for a RBI and Connor Robley went 2-for-4 with an RBI, he earned a walk and he had a stolen base. Cole Honl went 1-for-3, he earned a walk, he had a stolen base and he scored a pair of runs and Andy Schweigert went 1-for-4. Andrew Herin earned two walks and he scored a pair of runs and Matt Fletcher earned a walk and he was hit by a pitch.

The Joes’ starting pitcher, Isaac Holthaus, threw three innings, he was the pitcher of record. He gave up four hits, issued a pair of walks, surrendered two runs and he recorded fourth strikeouts. Peter Nelson threw three innings in relief, he gave up two hits, surrendered two runs, issued three walks and he recorded two strikeouts. Zach Overboe went 1-for-3 and Charles Vaughn went 1-for-2. PRINCETON PANTHERS 4, SARTELL STONE PONEYS 3 (3/12/2018)

The Stone Poneys of the Sauk Valley League were defeated by the Panthers of the Eastern Minny West division. A couple of mistakes cost the Stone Poneys this game, as the Panthers scored three unearned runs to come back. The Stone Poneys’ Nate Nierenhausen started on the mound, he threw 5 1/3 innings, he gave up five hits, issued three walks, surrendered two runs and he recorded seven strikeouts. Cameron Knudsen threw 1 2/3 innings in relief, he issued three walks and he surrendered one run. Matt Maurer threw 1 2/3 innings in relief, he was the pitcher of record, he gave up two hits and one run. Shawn Lindsay had a good game, he went 3-for-4 with a double for two RBIs, he earned a walk and he scored one run. Rudy Sauerer went 2-for-5 with a double for a RBI and Cameron Knudsen went 2-for-4, he was hit by a pitch and he scored a run. Matt Maurer went 1-for-4 and he was hit by a pitch and Josh Schaefer went 1-for-5 and he scored a run. Andy Knudson went 1-for-5 and Spencer Timm was hit twice by a pitch.
