Buddy Beier Receives Mike Downes Award

Beier started playing baseball when he was just 16 years old and played for 12 years.  He started managing in 1975 and has managed for 18 years since then.  He also was involved in running his town team, the Regal Eagles, for over 35 years.  The highlight of his career came in 1991 when his Eagles captured a State Class C Championship in Red Wing and Cannon Falls.  They beat a Barry Wohler led Belle Plaine team for the Championship.  On the team were two of his brothers and two of his sons.

Buddy was inducted into the Minnesota Amateur Baseball Hall of Fame in 1992.  He has been the League President (Corn Belt North) for over 30 years and still holds that title.

“I never expected this because I know there are some great names on here,” exclaimed the surprised Beier as he was handed the award plaque.
